SEND Parenting Podcast
Welcome to the Send Parenting Podcast. I'm your neurodiverse host, Dr Olivia Kessel, and, more importantly, I am a mother to my wonderfully neurodivergent daughter, Alexandra, who really inspired this podcast.
As a veteran in navigating the world of neurodiversity, I have uncovered a wealth of misinformation, alongside many answers and solutions that were never taught to me in medical school or in any of the parenting handbooks.
Each week on this podcast, I will be bringing the experts to your ears to empower you on your parenting crusade.

Hello NeuroNurturers, I am beyond excited to share this incredible milestone with you the 100th episode of the SEND Parenting Podcast. I can't believe we've made it here. The journey has been one of connection, learning and empowerment, and I couldn't have done it without you. Your stories, your resilience and your love of your children have been at the heart of everything we do at the SEND Parenting Podcast. To celebrate, we have planned something truly special and it's the first time doing this so unusual for us, but a week-long event series featuring some of the podcast's most beloved guests. These amazing experts and advocates are going to return and share their journey of what they've been working on since we last spoke. Based on the feedback that we've had from the SEND Parenting community, we have included a mix of evening and lunchtime sessions to suit your schedules, because I know some of you prefer it at lunch, some of you prefer it in the evening, so we've got you covered and there will be replays as well. So I'm briefly going to go over the schedule. It's action-packed week, starting December 2nd and ending Friday, december 6th, so we're going to kick it off with a favorite of yours I know, dr Lucinda Miller, who's going to talk about neurodiversity and nutrition and also share with us some tips from her book Brain Brilliance, which has actually sold out in the first print edition, but she's ordered more. Then on Tuesday we're going to dip in at 12 o'clock for a lunchtime session with Dr Chris Bagley. He's super, super smart, he's been on our podcast twice and he's going to talk about how disengaged we have become of education and why Super interesting. Then on Wednesday we're going to go back to an evening session on December 4th with Sarah Fisher, who is an expert in nonviolence, resistance and connective parenting, and she's going to talk about how we can deal with conflict at home, both physical and emotional Also super helpful and great tips. And then on Thursday we are also going to do another evening episode with Dr Marianne, who runs her own brilliant podcast how Not to Screw Up your Kids and she's going to give us some of the tips that she's been showing on her show and share it with us as well, and I always love speaking with her. And then, finally, our finale on Friday, december 6th, which is going to be at lunchtime. We're going to look and explore again with Sunshine Support and what services they can help to provide us as parents to navigate SEND in the education system, and we have been blessed to be joined both by Chris Awadlo, who we've had before, and then Kelly Jarvis as well, and it's just jam-packed with great tips for parents.
Speaker 1:So what makes this celebration so special? Well, first of all, it's real-time connections, so during each event, you can join in the live chat to ask questions, share your thoughts or simply connect with other parents who truly understand. I will be there, and some of the guests will also be there so we can interact with you as well. There'll be actionable insights with each of the guests that are on the show. That should be meaningful to you and your family. And also it is a community celebration. You know, it's not just a celebration of this podcast reaching a hundred episodes, but it's a celebration of you as well, our incredible community of warriors who fight day in and day out for your children. And that's really why I know you're listening to the podcast and that's really why I'm creating the podcast. So it's a celebration for all of us and how far we've come together. I know I've learned so much, it's been so helpful for me, and I hope, from the feedback I've heard from you and that you keep listening, that you also feel it really, really valuable.
Speaker 1:So please join us during the week, dip in and out to the ones that you find interesting, or come to all of them. I will be there at all of them they're going to be. I just I love listening to these people, so mark your calendars. I'd love it if you could RSVP to the event. I will include a link that you can click on and you can just put in your email address and then I can forward you information as well as we get closer to the event. But I'm looking forward to seeing you all there and, yes, I'm really looking forward to celebrating the 100th episode with you. Thank you for listening. Send Parenting Tribe. If you haven't already, please click on the link in the show notes to join us in the private Send Parenting WhatsApp community.
