Feb 06, 2023 Episode 12

“As you go into business and you go into life with your ambitions, be aware that with new levels, there are new devils, new challenges, and new things that you'll have to overcome.” - Ernest Comer III

This week on the Pancakes From Scratch Podcast, Ernest talked to Robert Harper, we talk about the idea of supplier diversity, how people oversee multimillion-dollar functions, how we show up for our community not just a word of mouth but on a daily basis, and how can we influence our community that would create a more positive outcome for the young person.

Robert Harper

Coming from the South side of Chicago, Robert Harper has spent the past 7+ years fighting for economic justice. His work in Supplier Diversity has helped historically-underutilized businesses execute more than $150 Million in contracts. As Director of Supplier Development at Meda, Robert works to eliminate the racial wealth gap by ensuring that BIPOC-owned businesses have access to large corporate contract opportunities.

Robert earned his B.A. in Sociology with a minor in Criminal Justice from Augsburg University, becoming the first in his family to graduate college. He went on to earn a Masters of Public Policy from the top-10 ranked University of Minnesota – Humphrey School of Public Affairs. He has an uncompromising commitment to community and has served as a mentor with more than a dozen non-profit organizations.
