The importance of building relationships and creating safe spaces, especially during the pandemic, and sharing personal experiences with mental health, personal growth, and gratitude.  The episode emphasizes the importance of connection and community and the role that personal growth and gratitude play in building relationships.

 ABOUT THE GUESTS

Jhaelynn Elam

Jhaelynn Elam is a scientist, entrepreneur, and community cultivator. With a Bachelor of Science in Food Science and Biology from Tuskegee University and a Master of Science in Food Science and Technology from The Ohio State University, she has spent the past 8 years working as a sensory scientist for companies such as General Mills, Nutrilite, and Nestle. She is also the Founder and owner of Sizije, a boutique travel company, and the co-founder of In Sisterhood, We Brunch, an initiative designed to unite BIPOC women across sectors. Jhaelynn is the Director of Impact for The Black Collective Foundation MN and was an inaugural Forbes Next 1000 Honoree in 2021.

Cheniqua Johnson

Cheniqua Johnson is a Program Officer for the Community Impact team at the Saint Paul & Minnesota Foundation, responsible for reviewing grantmaking in health, domestic violence prevention, and civic engagement. She has seven years of experience in community engagement, political organizing, and local, state, and federal government. Cheniqua is a first-generation college graduate, and she received her bachelor's in family social science from the University of Minnesota Twin Cities. She currently serves on the City of Saint Paul's Cultural STAR Board, City of Saint Paul Police Chief Examining Committee, and on the East Side Funders Group. Cheniqua is a co-founder of In Sisterhood, We Brunch, which brings together BIPOC women and professionals across the Twin Cities. She enjoys live music and playing the alto saxophone since she was 10 years old.


Cierra Hardin 

Cierra Hardin is an Information Technology expert with over 10 years of experience in operations and strategic development for small businesses. She co-founded Graveti Consulting Group, which helps entrepreneurs of color enter emerging industries and build wealth. Cierra is a board member of the Minnesota Association of Children's Mental Health and co-leads the community initiative In Sisterhood, We Brunch, which brings together BIPOC women to build connections and increase social and political impact. Cierra is a graduate of Old Dominion University and was raised in a military household in Hawaii. When not working or volunteering, she enjoys spending time with her fiancé and puppy.
