Live From Bitcoin Beach
Max Keiser: Can you just kind of, you know, do, encapsulate your El Salvador story? So when you get here and kind of have that happen.
MurphsLife: Basically in 15 seconds here, I used to throw music events in the United States, and for me, it was just like cocaine, ketamine, ecstasy every single day. So I went through this rapid, like, life changing. I had an out-of-body experience right in Park City, Utah. So I sobered up and I'm like, I'm going to go backpacking the farthest place possible.
MurphsLife: So I go backpacking 2018, 2019 and end up getting stuck in Ecuador all during Covid. And after that, they wanted to give everyone Covid shots. So I'm posting online like, you know, like, guys, I don't want to get my Covid shot. What country can I go? I'm getting kicked out everywhere here. So the people said, "Bukele, Bukele" you know, and that was that.
Max Keiser: He invited you down here?
MurphsLife: Yeah. I posted I'm like, "Hey guys, I want to get a hold of Bukele. I want to do some work over there." And he messaged me on Instagram. And literally the next day we're on a flight, my girlfriend and I, and that was 2021. We're here since.
Max Keiser: Right. So, you know, you were out there doing raves.
Mike: Doing raves in Ecuador, right?
MurphsLife: No, that was in the States.
Mike: This was you post that life trying to discover yourself and figure out what you’re gonna do?
MurphsLife: I'm just backpacking. I was living with Venezuelans. I'm sleeping in the streets. Like, for it was. It was pretty wild, you know, like it was a very interesting trip, you know?
Max Keiser: Yeah. And you come here to El Salvador. And how long have you been here?
MurphsLife: Since 2021.
Max Keiser: Since 2021. And so, and the story, as I understand it is you've gotten into really, I guess, it's a charity mode where you're out there and you are helping to build houses and do this type of thing. Can you get into that a little bit?
MurphsLife: Yeah. We build houses, schools. It's pretty cool because since Covid hit, I'm, I'm like I said, I'm living with, I was staying with a Venezuelan like, not a hut. What is that call with, like, like a refugee? You know, and I found an old mattress outside by a dump, and I'm sleeping on this.
MurphsLife: And it was, it was really cool because all my money ran out, and I'm just like, chillin’ this. I'm sleeping in this, like, closet where everyone would leave their dirty towels. And we shared one bathroom for like five families. And I felt like this deep peace. This was my God moment. You know, I felt God come into my heart and say, this is where you're supposed to be.
MurphsLife: And, basically I started uploading on TikTok, was my big one. We grew about 6 million subscribers in about a year and a half, two years.
Mike: While you were in Ecuador? Or… ?
MurphsLife: But I've been doing this now in about 12, 13 countries. But of all the Latin countries, you know, God has led me here and now. This is the place where we're really focusing on building our farms now.
