The Rise of Chat GPT (Part 1)
ChatGPT is a large language model developed by OpenAI. It is based on the GPT (Generative Pre-trained Transformer) architecture, which uses unsupervised learning to pre-train a deep neural network on a large corpus of text data before fine-tuning it for specific tasks.
GPT is basically a computer program that can understand and talk like a human and speaks every language, including programming and coding languages. Trained on massive sets of data, GPT can have much more in-depth conversations and interactions with you than Siri or Alexa.
The development of GPT began in 2018, with the release of the original GPT model in June of that year. Since then, several versions of the model have been released, with increasing amounts of training data and improved performance.
The system quickly took the world by storm, crossing the one million user mark in just five days. To put that into perspective, while ChatGPT hit a million users in less than a week, it took Netflix 3.5 years to hit a million users, while it took Spotify five months, and Instagram two months.
In this episode, the boys discuss Open AI, AI Kurt Cobain, and some of potential effects Chat GPT may have on education, corporate jobs, arts, and entertainment.
