Is duplicate content having a negative impact on your SEO?  Duplicate content is one of the most debated (and misunderstood) SEO topics on the planet. It is true that one of the things that Google is very concerned about is duplicate content — but it might not be the kind of duplicate content that you think. In the Rankings Institute week two, I learned a few things about the impact of duplicate content on SEO.  I tell you all about it in this episode.
Still In Kuala Lumpur

I'm still in Malaysia, and I have some additional content for you. Spent some time at the Hard Rock Cafe in Melaka, Malaysia this week. Pretty cool.

Is Duplicate Content Hurting Your Rankings?
The main topic this week are my latest learnings from the Rankings Institute this week.  I referred to this as week 2, and this is actually from  information  presented in week 2 of the institute.  I confused week 2 and 3 last week.  The bottom line is that Google cares about duplicate content and so should you.  Why?  Because Google “recommended your site” to a searcher.  If that searcher is just fining the same stuff they have already seen, people will stop trusting Google for search.  Duplicate content impacts user experience.  The thing is, duplicate content is hard to understand programmatically, and there are two kinds.
So, if you have duplicate content on your site, you should remove it.
