Pulpit Cafe
Two friends sit down over a cup of coffee (or tea!) and have an honest conversation about a Bible text that's given to them by the Lectionary. We approach these passages as preachers, but this conversation is for all thoughtful Christians who desire a safe, thoughtful, conversational space to consider God's beautiful words of life! Your hosts are Jin Cho and Sandy Richter, who are Anglican priests. Jin is out in Irvine, California complaining about the cold when it dips below 60, and works with Micah Groups--an initiative at the intersection of preaching, worship, and justice. Sandy is the rector (senior pastor) of Christ Our Peace Anglican in Oak Park, Illinois, a church that seeks to cultivate and embody God's peace through sacramental worship and faithful action.

Episode 7
As we talk about Pentecost Sunday - the day the Church remembers the sending of the Holy Spirit in the aftermath of Christ's Resurrection - we couldn't help but notice how this beautiful vision of the community of God speaks now prophetically to us now. How can we be the sort of community that honors and respects the "fire from heaven" that rests on others? What is being affirmed that the Holy Spirit allows us to hear the good news in the diversity of our own languages? And how does the Spirit's generosity encourage us to speak boldly to the church that is often seen as a place of preservation of institutional hierarchy?
