Venessa Wood hosts Ag Talk: Your Story Matters and interviews Carey Portell, of Missouri, an Ag Women Connect advisor with a small lamb operation. Carey talks about winter lambing challenges, using warming and tubing to save lambs, and how farming and horses have supported her recovery after a serious car crash.

They discuss her work with the AgriSafe Network and its AgriStress Project, a 24/7 rural crisis line with ag-trained operators, plus the growing mental health pressures in agriculture. Carrie also shares her role with New Acres, which connects young people to ag jobs and training, and her goal to write a children’s book about disabilities in agriculture.

The episode highlights the Pearls of Production Women in Ag conference through University of Missouri, where Carey will give a virtual keynote, and closes with Venessa sharing Ag Women Connect updates, including a February 24 LinkedIn workshop with Debbie Saviano and promotion of the AG Connected business directory.
