Recovery With Root: Methadone comes to Middlesex County
Feb 05, 2024 Season 1 Episode 7
Margaux Farrell

In today's episode, we sit down with Middletown Mayor, Ben Florsheim, to discuss the Root Center's latest venture, a new treatment facility, and the FIRST ever to offer methadone, in Middlesex County. Middlesex County is currently the only county in Connecticut to not offer methadone as a treatment option for those struggling with opioid use disorder. However, it was also the country that saw the largest increase in overdose deaths from 2019-2020.

After years of persistence, hard work, and the help of the Mayor, we finally broke ground on this new clinic in March, and the center is now set to open in 2024. In this episode we discuss why this is such a monumental move for the future of addiction and mental health, as well as the Mayor's plans for the future to continue helping those on their journey to recovery.
