Black Christian History: Amanda Berry Smith

Revs. Louis and April Jenkins Season 4 Episode 7

This week we bring you an episode on the life and ministry of Amanda Berry Smith, a remarkable 19th century evangelist, missionary, and advocate for holiness.  She was born into slavery in 1837.  She overcame incredible obstacles to become a powerful voice for Christ, preaching across the United States, Europe, India and Africa.  She started a home for destitute and abandoned African American children in Harvey, Illinois.  Before departing this life she wrote an amazing autobiography detailing her experiences and travels around the world preaching for the Lord.  Thus she made a lasting impact on the Christian world.
