Speaker 2At least 40 minutes.
Speaker 1Yeah, that's the plan.
Speaker 2That's the rules.
Speaker 1Yeah, it was a require, not a requirement yeah, that's a requirement.
Speaker 2It was a suggestion.
Speaker 1That's your rules.
Speaker 2It's not my rules, my suggestion, I'm suggestive.
Speaker 1And I'm sticking to it.
Speaker 2You're sticky.
Speaker 1I'm sticky.
Speaker 2Suggestively sticky.
Speaker 1Yes.
Speaker 2Hi Mattias.
Speaker 1Hello, how are you today? I'm good you I'm fine, I'm really. No, I'm I'm really good good fine yeah, it sounded a little bit aggressive but leave me alone no, I yeah, no, no, I I'm good. No, do you know why? Why? Because we're Sorry. Why? Because we're doing the greatest podcast in the world. That's true, according to some people.
Speaker 2According to me at least.
Speaker 1Yeah, that's the some people.
Speaker 2I am some people.
Speaker 1Yep, you are Plural. Yep Several people, I am some people, yep, you are Plural.
Speaker 2Yep, several people In one.
Speaker 1That's your personalities we're talking about.
Speaker 2Yeah, I have a good personality today.
Speaker 1Good.
Speaker 2Yeah, I have my good face on.
Speaker 1Yeah, I can see that I have my sticky face on Ew. Can you put on a different face?
Speaker 2yeah, but maybe okay, but I don't wanna okay, then don't. No, yeah, I will not good as long as we're both satisfied here I think we are we can get along with this.
Speaker 1Yes so have. I forgotten something.
Speaker 2Now we're getting along.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 2Yeah, that's all I had to say.
Speaker 1Yeah, is that from a movie?
Speaker 2It might be.
Speaker 1Yeah, have I seen that movie? No, no.
Speaker 2No, no, no, no, no no.
Speaker 1Around the World in 80 days?
Speaker 2Yeah, I've seen that one.
Speaker 1I have too A few times.
Speaker 2I had to fix your head, sorry.
Speaker 1Ow.
Speaker 2I had to pick it off.
Speaker 1Yeah, that hurts. That hurts, you know.
Speaker 2Sorry, you're so sensitive.
Speaker 1I'm being decapitated.
Speaker 2Decapitated.
Speaker 1Yeah, you picked my head off. Am I missing something?
Speaker 2Me. I think you've been missing me, okay, all week.
Speaker 1Ah, yeah, that's true, I forgot about that.
Speaker 2You don't do that no but did I forget something? I don't know what are you forgetting? No, but did I forget something? I?
Speaker 1don't know what are you forgetting? We usually do this intro every week and I don't remember what we say.
Speaker 2I feel like we go off on something for a while, and then we talk about the week.
Speaker 1Yeah, okay. So what are we gonna talk about? I feel like we've been talking, okay, but I'm not sure if you can keep anything?
Speaker 2No, I feel like we've been talking.
Speaker 1Okay.
Speaker 2But I'm not sure if you can keep anything.
Speaker 1No, I don't. I'm not sure either.
Speaker 2My funny joke is probably something that's getting cut. Yep, that's what happens. I'm the less funny person here.
Speaker 1No, I don't think so.
Speaker 2Okay.
Speaker 1We're equally unfunny.
Speaker 2Right, I can agree with that.
Speaker 1Yeah, so this is gonna be a boring episode.
Speaker 2Awesome.
Speaker 1Yeah, like all the others. No, I'm kidding, I'm kidding.
Speaker 2We're back with another boring episode, yeah.
Speaker 1No, I think we're gonna have fun.
Speaker 2Okay.
Speaker 1I moved closer to the microphone so I can hear myself really well right now can you hear me barely okay, how about now? Okay, now.
Speaker 2Now I can hear you now you can hear me, but I have to speak lowly so that I don't start screaming in your ears lowly, I speak so lowly. I'm lonely speaking.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 2Lonely, lonely.
Speaker 1Lonely.
Speaker 2Lonely speaking.
The Week in Review
Speaker 1I feel it's so early to start talking about the week, but maybe it's not.
Speaker 2Maybe it's not. I mean, sometimes we just jump right into it without talking about anything.
Speaker 1Yeah, true.
Speaker 2And then it feels like it's too early, but we just go along with it anyway.
Speaker 1Yeah, maybe we come up with something to talk about during the week or.
Speaker 2We might or you could burp.
Speaker 1For an hour or so.
Speaker 2That's an alternative.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 2I could sit here and scratch my elbow for the next hour.
Speaker 1For an hour or so.
Speaker 2Yeah. While I'm burping I'm gonna rip off my elbow soon yeah, you're scratching your elbow and I'm burping wow, yeah impressive right you're all stripey yeah, that's true, I have lots of stretch marks yeah, no, uh, that's not what I was um, it's not a joke.
Speaker 1No, no, you can tell, because I'm not laughing.
Speaker 2Right, no one laughed no At the fact that I have stretch marks. Exactly.
Speaker 1That's no laughing matter.
Speaker 2No.
Speaker 1I'm not even laughing on the inside.
Speaker 2No, okay, I'm glad that you let me know, because I can't hear when you laugh on the inside. That's true maybe you should try external external laughter external external yeah, maybe I should, maybe I will someday.
Speaker 1Okay, someday I will laugh out loud, I will lol, interesting lol, right, yeah, I got that. I thought you maybe you're too old to get the.
Speaker 2The reference Reference. Yeah, a little bit.
Speaker 1Yeah, because I'm like a young person.
Speaker 2You're older than me.
Speaker 1Barely.
Speaker 2By two years.
Speaker 1Yeah, but I'm younger than you mentally.
Speaker 2In certain perspectives.
Speaker 1Yeah, I think so.
Speaker 2That might not have been the right word to use, but I used it and I think you know what I meant.
Speaker 1Yes, I know what you meant.
Speaker 2Aspects. Ah Might have been the word I wanted.
Speaker 1Then that's the one you should use.
Speaker 2Yeah, okay, I'm using it. I'm sticking with that one.
Speaker 1Okay, good, solved that.
Speaker 2Thank you. Are we going to talk about the week at some point?
Speaker 1We can start talking about the week.
Speaker 2Okay.
Speaker 1So that means we're going to talk about Saturday.
Speaker 2Right, you know what happened on Saturday.
Speaker 1I have no idea.
Speaker 2Okay, well, Saturday we had live Mad Libs.
Speaker 1Yeah, we did.
Speaker 2And it went well.
Speaker 1It did, it was funny.
Speaker 2It was funny and we were live on YouTube and Twitch at the same time.
Speaker 1Oh yeah, and YouTube was completely mute.
Speaker 2Yeah, I had no idea.
Speaker 1No.
Speaker 2Isn't that?
Speaker 1funny.
Speaker 2Yeah, that's kind of funny. So if you go to YouTube and watch our live Mad Libs, you won't hear a word we're saying you have to read lips.
Speaker 1Yeah, it's for the lip readers.
Speaker 2So it's live lip reading Live yeah, live Mad Lip.
Speaker 1Reading Mad Lips Mad. Yeah, live mad lip reading Mad lips. Mad lips, yeah Reading.
Speaker 2Reading Live, bad lip reading, hmm, or something. So yeah, that was kind of that was pretty fun.
Speaker 1Yeah, I had a good time yeah.
Speaker 2And we talked about our day there, but you'll probably have to. Did I upload? I don't think I uploaded the Twitch version to YouTube.
Speaker 1So if you want to hear about our day, you have to read our lips on YouTube.
Speaker 2I'll try to remember to fix that.
Speaker 1On YouTube. On YouTube, yeah, yes.
Speaker 2The Twitch version.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 2Yeah, so you can actually hear what we're saying.
Speaker 1Mm-hmm.
Speaker 2So we did that.
Speaker 1Yes, we did.
Speaker 2And on Sunday.
Speaker 1Sunday.
Speaker 2We went for a walk.
Speaker 1We did, we did, mm-hmm.
Speaker 2And it started and ended, okay.
Speaker 1Yeah, I mean, it was a little bit cold so I put my hat on the beanie.
Speaker 2Yeah, it's a winter hat, yeah.
Speaker 1Yeah, I it's. When I say hat, I think top hat, because that's hat in Swedish.
Speaker 2I put my top hat on and I went for a walk.
Speaker 1Yeah, it was a little bit colder, so I put my top hat on because I'm so fancy.
Speaker 2You're very fancy, especially when it's cold.
Speaker 1Yeah, no, because in Swedish the beanie hat, it's called mössa.
Speaker 2And then a hat is a top hat. Yeah Hot, yeah Hot.
Speaker 1That's with the yes. What is a top hat? Yeah, hat.
Speaker 2Yeah, halt, that's with the. What is that called the rim Brim?
Speaker 1The rim brim.
Speaker 2Rim brim.
Speaker 1Rembrandt.
Speaker 2Rembrandt.
Speaker 1Yeah, okay, yeah.
Speaker 2Around the yeah hat.
Speaker 1Yeah, even fancier. We have expensive paintings around the hats.
Speaker 2Yeah, it's made out around that. Yeah, it's made out of that. Yeah, that's what it is.
Speaker 1Rembrandts.
Speaker 2Or it's the guy himself, just wrapped around your head.
Speaker 1Yeah, the body.
Speaker 2That would be weird.
Speaker 1Or maybe it's the band the Rembrandts.
Speaker 2Okay.
Speaker 1Friends, I'll be there for you. Okay yeah, that band. Yeah, anyhow, we went for a walk.
Speaker 2We did.
Speaker 1Yes, and it was cold, but it got worse Because it was windy. But it was even worse when we went back because we had the wind in our faces.
Speaker 2I feel like we had the wind on our faces both ways. It was definitely worse on the way back, though.
Speaker 1Yes.
Speaker 2Yes, I'm not saying you're wrong.
Speaker 1No, I feel like that was worse.
Speaker 2Yes.
Speaker 1And then it started. Then it was like a blizzard.
Speaker 2Yeah, it started snowing on us. Yeah, it's May.
Speaker 1Yeah, and it's snowing. Snow in May.
Speaker 2Or it snowed, like the one time.
Speaker 1Yeah, in May Twice.
Speaker 2In one day.
Speaker 1Twice in one day. Yeah, and that was weird.
Speaker 2It was very weird and inconvenient.
Speaker 1And then, like the last, you know the last part of the walk it got better again.
Speaker 2Yeah.
Speaker 1That's when the sky opened up again.
Speaker 2I mean it wasn't perfect, it was still a bit windy yeah it was, but it wasn't snowy. Right.
Speaker 1Yeah, so that, but it wasn't snowy Right yeah.
Speaker 2So that was An adventure, yep, probably the second worst walk we've been on for that route.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 2And then we had pecan.
Speaker 1Yes, and we had cake.
Speaker 2We had cake and it was really good. And then I went home Yep, because my daughter had to go to gymnastics.
Speaker 1Yeah, so that was Sunday. That was Sunday.
Speaker 2And then on Monday I went to school.
Speaker 1Yeah, anything fun happen at school.
Speaker 2Not really. I don't think so.
Speaker 1No, and I went to work. Yep, boring yeah Yawn.
Speaker 2I feel like something else happened on monday, though I had kind of a weird evening, okay, uh, on monday, because something happened and I don't really know what happened, but we ate dinner right, and then right after dinner I got in like this really weird, irritable mood okay like everything was just overwhelming and annoying and I really wanted to, like, go for a walk or, and I also wanted to take a bubble bath moody walk yeah, yeah, to like.
Speaker 2I don't know. I was thinking maybe I'd feel better with a walk, but I also wanted to take a bath.
Speaker 1But you took a bath.
Speaker 2I did. I did I grumpily put sick child to bed and while I was doing that my life partner had started a bath for me without me asking, so it was kind of a surprise bath.
Speaker 1Okay, but you were thinking about it.
Speaker 2Yeah, I was thinking about it.
Speaker 1Did he read your thoughts?
Speaker 2No.
Speaker 1Can he hear your thoughts?
Speaker 2My thoughts were very loud because I was very irritable and grumpy and was saying that I wanted to take a walk and I want to take a bath.
Speaker 1Oh, okay, so he can read your thoughts.
Speaker 2When I complain about my thoughts. Yes, that's what happens.
Speaker 1Can he read other women's thoughts?
Speaker 2No, and we're not there yet.
Speaker 1Oh no.
Speaker 2So yeah, I got my bath. At least I didn't get to go for a walk, but I got a bath and he lit a candle and turned on.
Speaker 1Put it in the bath.
Speaker 2No, he didn't put the candle in the bath. Somehow it he's like here's some bathtub toys for you, here's a candle, here's a speaker, here's your book and your phone and everything Hair dryer. We're not there yet. Oh everything and hair dryer. We're not there yet. Oh so yeah, I got to play in the bathtub with all my toys and it was nice yeah okay, I make big waves with my book and then I had to explain to my teacher that I couldn't really finish my book because it got all wet.
Speaker 1Oh, it's not Moby Dick.
Speaker 2No, it's not a whale.
Speaker 1No, it's a book, okay.
Speaker 2So that was my day, Mm-hmm. On Tuesday I got a message from your niece.
Speaker 1Oh, okay, that was Tuesday. That was Tuesday Okay.
Speaker 2She messages me my knees thing your knees texted me and they were like I don't want my hamster anymore.
Speaker 1I mean, I heard about butt dial yeah. Knee dial yeah, is the new thing knee texting knee texting knee.
Speaker 2So she texted me and she's like do you want my hamster? I don't have time for him anymore.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 2And I was like, being the impulsive person that I am, was immediately like, yes, thank you. And apparently she knows me better than I thought she knew me and apparently she knows me better than I thought she knew me Because she had a need and she probably knows that I'm very impulsive. So I make these quick decisions and, yes, I want your hamster. So I waited for my daughter to get home and she's like yes, we want a hamster. So we went and we picked up the hamster and all of his stuff and now we have a hamster.
Speaker 1Yeah, you have a rat.
Speaker 2He's not a rat, he's a hamster.
Speaker 1Oh, Sure, looks like a rat.
Speaker 2And we renamed him.
Speaker 1Yeah. His name was Gunnar Gunnar Gunner Gunner.
Speaker 2I didn't want that name.
Speaker 1Oh yeah, I think it was like a tribute to my grandma.
Speaker 2Oh okay, who was good? Oh okay, okay. Well, your grandma's name is Bruno.
Speaker 1Now, no, she was still good.
Speaker 2Okay, okay.
Speaker 1And I'm not going to say I'm still going to call him goodnight.
Speaker 2Okay, okay, he can't be bruce willis no, no, he can't be okay.
Speaker 1Good night, jensen okay, um.
Speaker 2So yeah, we got him, and then we decided to rearrange my daughter's bedroom, so we spent the evening doing that, yeah.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 2And that was my Tuesday.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 2Yeah, nothing else.
Speaker 1No, I went to work.
Speaker 2You had cake.
Speaker 1I had cake. Oh yeah, it was my mom's birthday.
Speaker 2And then on Wednesday I saw you. Yeah, we went for a walk.
Speaker 1We did.
Speaker 2Well, my oldest wanted to try out boxing, so it was in the same town that you work in, yeah, and we wanted to find the trail in that town. Yeah so we figured we would spend the time he was boxing finding this trail.
Speaker 1Yeah, because we've been looking for that trail earlier a couple times. Yeah, we didn't find it. We trail earlier a couple times, yeah, we didn't find it. We haven't found it before.
Speaker 2No, but before we went there, we went out for dinner. We did, and it was good.
Speaker 1Yeah, I had hamburger and fries.
Speaker 2And so did my oldest, but I had a salad.
Speaker 1Yeah, I had a bigger hamburger though.
Speaker 2Yes, you were better than him. Yeah, I had a bigger hamburger, though. Yes, you were better than him, yeah.
Speaker 1I was the best at eating hamburgers because I had a big one.
Speaker 2Okay.
Speaker 1I won. Anyway, and you had a salad, so that's.
Speaker 2I'm disqualified.
Speaker 1Yeah, that's you lost yeah. Yeah.
Speaker 2He went to boxing and we did find this trail. Hmm, and we did find this trail and we walked the whole thing and there was an outside gym, so we even had time to play on the outside gym before we had to go back.
Speaker 1Yeah, we did really good.
Speaker 2I think so On some of the things.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Movie Talk: What Women Want
Speaker 2Yeah, so that was Wednesday, right.
Speaker 1Yeah, I went to work and then afterwards we did that.
Speaker 2Yep, yep, yesterday was Thursday.
Speaker 1I went to work.
Speaker 2You did. Yeah, I went to school.
Speaker 1Okay.
Speaker 2And I had a word test again the second one Okay. And I'm not as confident about this one as I was with the first one. This one was a little bit harder. I know that I missed two of the words One of them was ridiculous and I knew the answer, but I was just completely blanking.
Speaker 1Was that the word? Ridiculous? No, no.
Speaker 2It was beropoa.
Speaker 1Okay.
Speaker 2I know that one.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 2But for some reason I just was not coming up with the answer.
Speaker 1No.
Speaker 2I completely blanked. The other one was kind of like a trick question because it was also more than one word. Okay, and I didn't really study for this one either.
Speaker 1Okay.
Speaker 2I was a bit too confident. I don't need to study.
Speaker 1No.
Speaker 2I got this, yeah, so that's how that went.
Speaker 1Yeah, and then you're there, I don't get anything. I don't know what I'm doing.
Speaker 2I know nothing. Yeah, I get it. So then my life partner took me out.
Speaker 1What was that?
Speaker 2Partner Life partner took me out. What?
Speaker 1was that Partner, partner, partner, okay.
Speaker 2Life partner felt bad for me, so he took me out for lunch. No he didn't feel bad for me. We were going to go out for lunch anyway.
Speaker 1Okay, he didn't fix your bath.
Speaker 2No, he didn't fix me a bath because I missed two words Like go home and start crying. But I did get kind of annoyed with myself when I realized what the words actually were. I was like I knew that.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 2I knew that.
Speaker 1Come on Whenever you're disappointed.
Speaker 2Just goes and starts a bath. Bath time we were going to go out for lunch, but I guess you're taking a bath instead. It's like my time out. Yeah, you're like, yay, you feel better now. Yeah, toys, yay, throw the candle and the speaker and the book in there.
Speaker 1Yay.
Speaker 2And my phone Yay.
Speaker 1Not the hairdryer. It's not fun.
Speaker 2No, we're not there yet. Oh. So yeah, we went out for lunch, and then that evening I went to spinning.
Speaker 1Uh-huh.
Speaker 2But I've been to the gym every day this week except for today. Okay, did you have anything to say about yesterday?
Speaker 1I think I said I went to work.
Speaker 2You did, and today's Friday? Yeah, right.
Speaker 1Yes.
Speaker 2It's May 9th. It's May 9th. Yeah so far. It is Friday and I went to our local trail and took a walk With my life partner, sick child and the dog that we're dog sitting.
Speaker 1Okay, so you had the dog today too.
Speaker 2Yeah, monday, wednesday, friday.
Speaker 1Okay, so how long did you have the dog today?
Speaker 2From like 7.30 to 3.
Speaker 1Okay, so it's like last week, yeah, okay.
Speaker 2So that's like last week. Yeah, okay, so that's what we did. I mean, I don't think we did much more than that before you came over.
Speaker 1Yeah, Because I worked today Mm-hmm, and then you picked me up.
Speaker 2Right.
Speaker 1At work, and then we ate some food.
Speaker 2We did Chicken. I made chicken meatballs.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 2Kind of and an Alfredo sauce and I made zoodles Zucchini noodles.
Speaker 1Yeah, zucchini noodles.
Speaker 2I thought it was good.
Speaker 1Yeah, me too.
Speaker 2And then we watched movies. Yes, would you like to movie on?
Speaker 1Let's movie on.
Speaker 2All right. All right Today we watched what Women Want and Jönssonligan och Dynamitharri. Yes, that's what we watched.
Speaker 1Yes.
Speaker 2I'm going to tell you about what Women Want.
Speaker 1Yes.
Speaker 2First of all, this is a movie with Mel Gibson.
Speaker 1That's true.
Speaker 2Okay, and he is a guy.
Speaker 1That's also true.
Speaker 2Who knows nothing about women. He just makes assumptions. And then something happens, like he tries to take a bath with the hairdryer and suddenly, well, after his electrocution, he suddenly has a superpower in which he can hear women's thoughts. Yeah, very interesting.
Speaker 1Mm-hmm.
Speaker 2I think I would want that superpower.
Speaker 1To hear women or men or everyone.
Speaker 2I don't know, maybe everyone.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 2But I mean, if it was specific people, then that would be okay too.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 2What do you think?
Speaker 1About what.
Speaker 2Would you want that?
Speaker 1Maybe I mean it would be cool to, if you could like, turn it on and turn it off.
Speaker 2Yeah.
Speaker 1Because if you're in a crowd of people, I don't know if I want to.
Speaker 2Oh yeah, I'd go crazy.
Speaker 1So if you could turn it off and aim it at a specific person and then like, okay, you're boring, then just turn it off, that would be cool.
Speaker 2But Mel Gibson, he learned to use this to his advantage.
Speaker 1Yes.
Speaker 2To advance in his work.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 2In a way, and yeah.
Speaker 1And I mean he kind of starts off as a real pig.
Speaker 2Yeah, exactly.
Speaker 1Yeah, so and he because of this gift or curse, whatever you want to call it.
Speaker 2Yeah.
Speaker 1He, you know, turns into a better person. I mean he turns into a better father. He has a daughter.
Speaker 2Right.
Speaker 1And who he has like no real connection with. But you know that relation also gets better yeah, what did you think about this movie? Uh, I think it's a funny movie. I mean, uh, mel gibson is not what I, you know, associate with the romantic comedies, so this it's, it's fun to, you know, see a change of pace or like see him doing something else. And, yeah, I like the movie, it's funny. Yeah, it's a little bit long though, but it's still good, I like it. So what do you think about the movie?
Speaker 2I really like this movie.
Speaker 1Okay good.
Speaker 2I did Like a lot and I'm not someone who cares too much about like romantic kind of movies.
Speaker 1No.
Speaker 2I mean I'll watch them, but I feel like they're all very predictable.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 2So I don't really pick that one first.
Speaker 1No, okay.
Speaker 2Like I feel like I've already seen them all.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 2But I really like this movie.
Speaker 1Yeah, I did find it funny.
Speaker 2There was a lot of Sinatra in it.
Speaker 1Yeah, but yeah, I enjoyed it A lot, yeah, yeah, I liked it too, anything else. I agree. Yeah, I liked it too. Anything else, I agree, I'm not really a big fan of the romantic movies, but the comedies can be good. I like when it's comedy.
Speaker 2Yeah.
Speaker 1Like this. You know when it's funny. I don't want to see a romantic drama that would be awful Annoying.
Speaker 2Yeah, to see a romantic drama.
Speaker 1That would be awful Annoying.
Speaker 2Yeah, but this one wasn't like a typical romantic comedy either no. So I think that's why I enjoyed it so much.
Speaker 1Okay, next. Next Jönssonligan och Dynamitharri, so this movie.
Speaker 2Do you want to translate that?
Speaker 1Okay, the Jönsson Gang and Dynamite Harry, dynamite Harry. So this is a sequel to last week's movie, swedish movie Varning för Jönssonliga. And yeah, I mean this. It's about the gang and there's this guy who joins them and his name is Dinamitaru and he has a drinking problem. We can say he likes the beers too much and I mean I love this character because he's funny, he's really funny, especially when he's drunk. And yeah, I think it's also the two of the guys don't really want to do the heist thing anymore, but kind of gets back into it when the leader of the gang gets in trouble and they have to save him, or yeah, am I missing something?
Speaker 2I don't think so.
Speaker 1No, so what do you think about this one?
Speaker 2I enjoyed this one too. I thought it was funny. Yeah and yeah, no, that's it. I thought it was really funny. Yeah, what? Yeah, no, that's it. I thought it was really funny yeah.
Speaker 1What do you think about Dinamitharu?
Speaker 2He was also funny. He was trying really hard to stay away from the beer, yeah, but then he kind of got stuck with it.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 2And yeah, he likes to blow things up.
Speaker 1Oh, yeah, yeah, Hence his name.
Speaker 2Yeah, Dynamite.
Speaker 1Yeah, that's true. Yeah, I think these movies are really funny.
Speaker 2I thought the ending was kind of sad.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 2But it was a good movie.
Speaker 1Yeah, I mean it's not really sad as in. I don't want to spoil anything, but it's not like anyone dies.
Speaker 2It was sad.
Speaker 1Okay, oh so.
Speaker 2People don't have to die for it to be sad.
Speaker 1No, no, okay, that's true, but uh, so you were crying.
Speaker 2I felt bad Okay.
Speaker 1So is it like a platoon all over.
Speaker 2No no.
Speaker 1It's not that sad, no, no, okay. Fun movie, yeah, I like it. Anything else, no, I don't think so. Okay, time to take a break.
Speaker 2We can do that.
Speaker 1Okay, so see you after the break.
Speaker 2We'll be right back and we're back, hello, hello. Did you have a?
All About Pollen and Allergies
Speaker 1nice break, yeah, it was a short one.
Speaker 2It was like five seconds, yeah, or ten, I don't remember no it wasn't that, no, and I didn't have time to prepare for anything, so I'm just gonna talk about the first thing that pops in my head.
Speaker 1Okay, are you having trouble breathing?
Speaker 2I'm not, but I have seen a lot of bees lately. Oh, bees.
Speaker 1Yeah, we have one on the car. That was a wasp, but that's kind of a bee.
Speaker 2And he was just hanging out.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 2He didn't really want anything.
Speaker 1No.
Speaker 2He wanted to start a fight.
Speaker 1I think yeah.
Speaker 2But he was on the window.
Speaker 1He was inspired by the boxing people.
Speaker 2Yeah, so I'm thinking bees are pollinators, right? Yeah, we've talked about bees before, it was a while ago. And what does pollen do I?
Speaker 1don't know.
Speaker 2It gives you allergies, Ah that's what it's for Right. That's what pollen does.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 2It makes you feel like garbage. So I'm thinking with us being educators yeah, garbage. So I'm thinking with us being educators yeah, the small platform that we have to educate the people.
Speaker 1I want to talk about pollen and allergies okay which I mean could be fun for lots of people yeah, I mean, it's about that time now, that time of that time of year.
Speaker 2That time of year To talk about pollen Pollinating.
Speaker 1Are you going to say that time of month?
Speaker 2That's right. It's that time of month to start talking about allergies, yeah, okay.
Speaker 1So before I'm just going to ask you do you have allergies?
Speaker 2At the moment.
Speaker 1Yeah, no, no.
Speaker 2I feel okay, okay, I'm feeling pretty healthy right now, yeah.
Speaker 1You don't have, you don't feel like allergy from pollen or anything.
Speaker 2No, no, because I had that a while ago, a few weeks ago. Okay, right.
Speaker 1So you do have that you are allergic to pollen.
Speaker 2Yeah, I am, because remember we watched the tuxedo and I woke up with like a super sore throat. Yeah, yeah, I'm pretty sure that was my allergies.
Speaker 1Yeah, I have noticed that in the mornings this week. I mean, my nose is like getting clogged up.
Speaker 2Yeah.
Speaker 1And I'm not sick.
Speaker 2No.
Speaker 1So I mean, I'm not really allergic, but I kind of feel I still have some. I don't know what it is, but I guess it has Symptoms. Yeah, I'm not really allergic. It's not like my, the worst kind of. I don't have to take medicine for it.
Speaker 2Right, let's talk about pollen.
Speaker 1Okay.
Speaker 2And allergies. Okay, so what is pollen?
Speaker 1Is that a question I'm?
Speaker 2asking you.
Speaker 1Okay.
Speaker 2The expert.
Speaker 1I'm not an expert.
Speaker 2We're pretending you're the expert.
Speaker 1I'm not an expert. We're pretending you're the expert. Okay, I'm an expert that's right talk expert I will good, uh, I mean what I my my understanding uh based off of research yeah, of my made-up research. Uh, it's um trees and plants reproducing.
Speaker 2Okay, yeah. With the help of bees and I think Birds have something to do with something.
Speaker 1Bees and birds. Birds and the bees.
Speaker 2Yeah, yeah, I think.
Speaker 1Yeah, I think that's the answer. That's probably the correct answer.
Speaker 2Okay.
Speaker 1No, you tell me.
Speaker 2Well, you're not wrong. Pollen is a fine powder produced by plants as part of their reproductive cycle. It's carried by wind, insects or animals to fertilize other plants. While essential for plant reproduction, pollen is a common allergy, Allergen brought to you by OpenEyes.
Speaker 1Okay, openai. I asked them OpenEyes To answer my questions. So it's OpenEyes' fault that you get allergic.
Speaker 2No, no, no the information was wrong. Yeah right.
Speaker 1AI does not produce, not the actual pollen. No, that'd be.
Speaker 2That was a separate, not the actual pollen?
Speaker 1No, that'd be.
Speaker 2That was a separate sentence.
Speaker 1Okay, okay.
Speaker 2There was a period in between there. Okay, that time of month yeah, it was quick. Types of pollen that can cause allergies Okay.
Speaker 1Okay.
Speaker 2There's trees that produce pollen.
Speaker 1Yes.
Speaker 2In the early spring, like oak, birch, maple and cedar.
Speaker 1Yes, birch, that's. I mean, I've helped my dad, you know, with cutting down trees and birch is really. It's so much with that stuff.
Speaker 2I think that might be my allergy as well, yeah. Although I did take an allergy test. Last year I took a blood test. For what did I say? Cats, dogs, horses, hay and birch, and there were no results. But I disagree because I know I have allergies to something.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 2Um, another pollen is from grass and hay, like I said, and, uh, weeds in the late summer to fall.
Speaker 1Okay, Not the smoking kind.
Speaker 2No, ragweed and sagebrush. Okay, I don't know. So yeah, some common symptoms of pollen allergies. What would you say? This is a question for you, okay, I don't know. So yeah, some common symptoms of pollen allergies. What would you say? This is a question for you, okay? Expert.
Speaker 1Clogged up nose.
Speaker 2Mm-hmm.
Speaker 1The throat, sore throat or like itchy eyes, the red eyes, and it feels like there's something in the eyes. I don't know.
Speaker 2Okay, are there more Sneezing?
Speaker 1Oh, okay.
Speaker 2Runny or stuffy nose, itchy eyes, nose and throat Watery, red eyes, fatigue, so you're just tired all the time Okay. And mild asthma system systems.
Speaker 1Symptoms. So you get an asthma system there.
Speaker 2Right, so you get an asthma system there, right? So I was also wondering if there were certain symptoms to a specific allergy. So I asked Okay, open eyes. And they said, while many symptoms overlap, some can be slightly more pronounced depending on the pollen source.
Speaker 1Okay, some can be slightly more pronounced depending on the pollen source.
Speaker 2With tree pollen it often causes strong nose and eye symptoms. Okay, yeah. Grass pollen will frequently trigger asthma-like symptoms.
Speaker 1Mm-hmm.
Speaker 2And weed pollen, especially ragweed, will cause headaches and sinus pressure due to high pollen counts in late summer.
Speaker 1Hmm.
Speaker 2Which I mean. Sometimes I have that as well, so maybe that's something.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 2But I know that I have allergies when I get like one big sneeze and then like everything will hit all at once like all of the symptoms will start all at once after this one big sneeze, or maybe I'll sneeze a few times in a row and then I'll start feeling like, and then I know okay, so you think you have the rag. Uh, the rag.
Speaker 1Wasn't that.
Speaker 2I mean sometimes it can be like that. But I mean I get mostly the nose and throat.
Speaker 1Yeah, and fatigue. Okay, so that's.
Speaker 2But when it's really bad. Yeah, I'll have pretty bad sinus pressure.
Speaker 1And so which ones would you say fit your allergies?
Speaker 2you said I'm gonna say most likely the tree pollen.
Speaker 1Yeah, and then was it the rag too.
Speaker 2Sometimes yeah, yeah.
Speaker 1I just like saying rag pollen.
Speaker 2Why.
Speaker 1I don't know, it sounds funny.
Speaker 2Okay, managing pollen allergies. How to avoid this, I guess.
Speaker 1Yeah, okay.
Speaker 2So, in order to avoid pollen, check the daily pollen counts and stay indoors during high pollen times. So be paranoid about pollen.
Speaker 1It's coming to get you. Yeah, better close all windows and doors.
Speaker 2That was the next point, yeah.
Speaker 1And like even pull the little garden down.
Speaker 2Oh yeah, Close the curtains.
Speaker 1Yeah, close all the curtains so the pollen can't find you.
Speaker 2Yeah, you won't see that many of those shades in the. States because we don't have the sun problem.
Speaker 1No, okay, what Really?
Speaker 2Yeah, I mean you have the sun up like all night during the summer. Yeah, I mean it'll go down around nine in the summer in the states. Okay, okay but not midnight no or 11, I guess okay really so yeah, um shower after being outside to remove the pollen get really paranoid yeah, or take a bath. I guess you could take a bath and swim in the pollen that was all over your body. Yeah, the next part. I asked for fun. Lesser known facts about pollen.
Speaker 1So, few people knows it right Time for few people knows it.
Speaker 2Yeah, pollen edition.
Speaker 1Awesome Ooh.
Speaker 2Pollen edition.
Speaker 1Awesome.
Speaker 2One out of eight.
Speaker 1I have.
Speaker 2Okay, pollen has been around for millions of years.
Speaker 1Mm-hmm yeah.
Speaker 2You would think so.
Speaker 1Yeah, makes sense.
Speaker 2I mean they didn't.
Speaker 1They're not recent, no, I mean, I guess it's been around for as long as trees and stuff, Maybe yeah, Trees and stuff Maybe yeah. Yeah, but that's just a guess, since that's the way for trees to reproduce.
Speaker 2Right Two not all pollen causes allergies. Only wind-pollinated plants like grasses, trees and weeds typically trigger allergies.
Speaker 1Yeah, that's true. So the other pollens, those are the ones carried by bees and stuff, I guess.
Speaker 2Yeah, but they're heavier pollen, so they don't become airborne.
Speaker 1No, exactly. So they are transported by the bees.
Speaker 2Yeah, from flowers. Yeah, yeah, Three. Speaking of bees, love pollen, but it's different from allergy pollen, mm-hmm. Yeah, basically what I just said. The pollen collected by bees is often not the same type that triggers allergies. Bee-collected pollen tends to come from insect-pollinated plants, which are usually not allergenic to humans.
Speaker 1Yay, we said that.
Speaker 2Yeah.
Speaker 1Wow, we're so smart.
Speaker 2Yeah, number four is. One ragweed plant can produce one billion grains of pollen.
Speaker 1Wait, say that again.
Speaker 2One ragweed plant can produce one billion grains of pollen.
Speaker 1Wow, wow it's a lot.
Speaker 2It's the king of allergenic plants.
Speaker 1Oh.
Speaker 2And that pollen can travel hundreds of kilometers on the wind.
Speaker 1Hmm, Oof Cool? Well, maybe not, but still cool. Number five pollen helps solve crimes okay, so now I just see pollen as like a detective and sherlock holmes.
Speaker 2Yeah, was my first thought he's a detective yeah, forensic scientists use palynology, I don't the study of pollen to link suspects to crime scenes or track the origin of objects. Pollen stuck to clothing, money or even art can be surprisingly telling. Number six yeah. Pollen is an ingredient in some foods and supplements.
Speaker 1Wow.
Speaker 2Okay, bee pollen is marketed as a superfood rich in nutrients and antioxidants. However, people with pollen allergies should avoid consuming it, as it can trigger serious reactions. So I mean, if you're feeling down, you're like I want to feel suffering.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 2I'm going to go buy some bee pollen, ingest it. I mean, I guess if you are severely requiring a few days off from work, you can force yourself to get sick.
Speaker 1But that means that that pollen is still allergenic.
Speaker 2Yeah, that's why, if you have allergies, you should avoid consuming it.
Speaker 1Huh, I was just thinking. A stupid thought. What if you would snort pollen?
Speaker 2I feel like it would have the same effect, because that's usually how it gets into your body.
Speaker 1I think, yeah, but I don't think you get that amount of pollen, I think it would get really bad.
Speaker 2Yeah, I don't recommend. No, I'm going to ask that question at the end.
Speaker 1Yeah, so if you're allergic to pollen, maybe you shouldn't snort pollen. That's a tip from the pros. That's a tip from the experts.
Speaker 2Going off track here on this one. What would happen if I did snort bee pollen? Okay, snorting bee pollen is highly dangerous and not recommended. You could have a severe allergic, allergic, allergic, severe allergic reaction. Oh, bee pollen contains many plant proteins and inhaling it directly into your nasal passages can trigger a sudden and severe allergic reaction, especially if you're even mildly sensitive to pollen or bee products.
Speaker 1So don't do that.
Speaker 2Don't do them.
Speaker 1That's listen to us and don't do that.
Speaker 2Do not snort bee pollen. You could get a nasal irritation or infection, because the nasal sensitivity okay, sensitivity, is now a word. Yeah, sensitive, okay, sensitive is now a word.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 2The nasal cavity is sensitive. Introducing foreign particles like bee pollen could cause irritation or inflammation, sinus infections, bleeding or burning sensations due to abrasive particles.
Speaker 1How.
Speaker 2You could get lung complications. This is bad.
Speaker 1Don't do this. Okay, don't do this. Some of the Listen to us. This is bad. Don't do this. Okay, don't do this. Listen to us.
Speaker 2Yeah, yeah, you could get as part of the lung complications you could have allergic asthma attacks, bronchial inflammation and then rarecation, Rarecation.
Speaker 1Rarecation. Rare occasions rarecation, rare, rarecation, rare occasions I like that you merge words together, so you don't this is the worst, like dyslexia, like all the words come into one yeah, in rare cases, hypersensitivity pneumonitis, which is an immune system overreaction in the lungs.
Speaker 2So, in short, ouch.
Speaker 1Yeah, that's it In short, ouch.
Speaker 2Which is basically what this is saying. If you snort bee pollen, ouch Okay. Snorting bee pollen is not only ineffective as a health supplement.
Speaker 1What I thought it was good for me.
Speaker 2It's dangerous. It's meant to be ingested with caution and not inhaled. If someone is interested in its benefits, they should speak to a health care provider and start with small oral doses if you're not allergic, okay.
Speaker 1Okay.
Speaker 2Going back to what I was talking about, yeah, I'm sorry for that, Okay. Few people knows it. Number seven thunderstorms can make allergies worse.
Speaker 1Yes.
Speaker 2That's not good.
Speaker 1I heard about that.
Speaker 2Okay, you've heard of thunderstorm asthma. Yeah, yes, you can say yes.
Speaker 1Yes, yes, I'm an expert.
Speaker 2Yeah, obviously.
Speaker 1Don't you think I don't know that?
Speaker 2Yeah, that's why I'm asking, Because I don't think you know Few people knows it.
Speaker 1That I don't know it.
Speaker 2Right.
Speaker 1Yeah, okay, that's it.
Speaker 2Storms can break pollen grains into smaller pieces that penetrate deeper into the lungs, causing severe asthma system Seriously.
Speaker 1Asthma system.
Speaker 2Asthma systems Symptoms Even in people with mild allergies.
Speaker 1We have to teach you the difference between system and symptoms.
Speaker 2That's for next week's podcast.
Speaker 1Yeah, okay.
Speaker 2When I learn the difference between system and symptoms. Number eight yes. The last one Urban areas can have more pollen than the countryside.
Speaker 1What was the first one?
Speaker 2Urban areas, urban areas, oh, urban areas. Pollen than the countryside. What was? The first one urbanarians, urban areas, oh urbanarians I think that's ET actually. Oh, okay, so surprisingly, air pollution can boost pollen production and increase its allergenicity. That was a word.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 2So people in cities may suffer more from allergies than those in rural areas.
Speaker 1Okay.
Speaker 2Here's some remedies for allergies.
Speaker 1I like that. Remedies for allergies.
Speaker 2Remedies for allergies. What?
Speaker 1It has a nice ring to it.
Speaker 2Bling.
Speaker 1Yeah, I mean it sounds like a commercial or something Remedies for allergies.
Speaker 2This is my next segment. Yeah remedies for allergies.
Speaker 1I mean, that's a, that's a good slogan. Yeah, yeah, sure, yeah, you know what You're right yeah.
Speaker 2All right, let's just go through these. Your first option for allergy remedies are over-the-counter medications, the first thing you usually would go for, like antihistamines. Do you know what that is?
Speaker 1I heard about it, but I don't know what that is.
Speaker 2Okay.
Speaker 1That's it.
Speaker 2Nose spray.
Speaker 1I heard about it. I have tried nose spray. I hate nose spray.
Weight Updates and Life Ruiners
Speaker 2I have tried nose spray. I hate nose spray. It's my biggest enemy.
Speaker 1Yeah, I feel like I had nose spray a lot when I was younger, when I was a little kid. Never in my adult life.
Speaker 2I know. During high school I was prescribed with nose spray and I hated taking it. I always do it wrong or something. I always end up swallowing it.
Speaker 1Yeah, and then it just like disturbs every sense in my body. It doesn't taste good, bleh.
Speaker 2Blech Decongestants is also an option.
Speaker 1Okay, what the heck is that?
Speaker 2That is. It helps with sinus pressure and congestion oh, okay some natural remedies are saline nasal rinses, which is really just um salt water nose spray okay, yeah a hepa filter. I don't know what that means, but it's something you can install in your home and car to trap pollen and dust and also showering and changing your clothes.
Speaker 1Trap Pollen. Trap pollen. It sounds like it's an animal or something.
Speaker 2It's a bear trap. Yeah, yeah For pollen.
Speaker 1Yeah, Make sure you kill it too.
Speaker 2Yeah, I guess so Kill the pollen.
Speaker 1Yeah, make sure you kill it too. Yeah, I guess. So Kill the pollen, palm Palm.
Speaker 2You can make some lifestyle adjustments by checking pollen forecasts and limiting outdoor activities when levels are high. Oh, and keep your windows closed and dry your laundry indoors.
Speaker 1For some reason I thought you would say dry your lungs.
Speaker 2Dry out your lungs so that nothing can attach to the walls. It just falls down. Yeah, Okay, that's an option. Your diet and supplements. You can some people find relief with quercetin. I don't know, but it's a natural antihistamine found in apples, onions and capers.
Speaker 1Capers.
Speaker 2Have you ever had capers, capres?
Speaker 1Capres. Okay, I don't know, I'm not sure.
Speaker 2I haven't and I don't plan on trying them.
Speaker 1No Capers. I just got the picture of a cape.
Speaker 2Yes. Start chewing on capes, Apples, onions and capes.
Speaker 1Start chewing on your cape.
Speaker 2Yes, you can take vitamin C, which has mild antihistamine properties and supports your immune system. You can also have local honey, which has mixed results. Anecdotal support exists, but evidence is mixed Might help if you're not allergic to bee pollen. So then what is the point?
Speaker 1Exactly All right.
Speaker 2That kind of contradicted itself. Yeah, but some long kind of contradicted itself.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 2But some long-term treatments are allergy shots, which are immunotherapy. It gradually exposes your body to allergens, so your immune system becomes less sensitive.
Speaker 1Okay, okay, makes sense maybe.
Speaker 2Also sublingual tablets, which are Sublingual. They subtly teach you another language.
Speaker 1Okay, yeah.
Speaker 2So you pretty much learn French in your sleep, oh cool. They're under-the-tongue pills. They're an alternative to shock Altern allergens like grass and ragweed. In summary I'm Sunday, that's what it said I wanted to write in summary. I'm sunday, that's what it said I wanted to write in summary. I wrote in I'm sunday. So in summary to the whole thing um, snorting bee pollen is dangerous. It should never be done. Um, don't do that and I think that's the main thing that we learned today.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 2So if you didn't learn anything else, don't snort bee pollen. You could die.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 2And maybe don't dehydrate your lungs either.
Speaker 1No, because that can't be comfortable. No, you might die.
Speaker 2You might die.
Speaker 1Yeah, don't do both of those at the same time exactly and if you do, don't say it was because of us, because we don't want I said don't do it yeah, do you hear that?
Speaker 2bonk. All right, how do you feel about this?
Speaker 1I feel like it was, do you?
Speaker 2have questions.
Speaker 1I'm interrupting, you. Yes, you are.
Speaker 2That's what I do.
Speaker 1I don't know. I don't think I have questions. I feel like my questions got all answered.
Speaker 2Yeah, that's good that the expert is asking questions. That's what you're supposed to do as a scientist. Yeah, exactly, you ask questions and you did and good job.
Speaker 1Yeah, you feel fulfilled your task for today yeah, I want the to ask the people are you allergic to anything?
Speaker 2what are your allergies and symptoms?
Speaker 1yes, and did we help you in any way?
Speaker 2Yeah, so how are you feeling about this?
Speaker 1The episode.
Speaker 2Yeah.
Speaker 1I'm feeling good about this episode.
Speaker 2Good, because it feels like we're nearing the end here.
Speaker 1Yeah, I think so too.
Speaker 2Would you like to provide me with a weight update?
Speaker 1Oh yeah.
Speaker 2Since last episode? How has your weight changed?
Speaker 1This week I lost half a kilogram, 0.5 kilograms, okay.
Speaker 2I lost one and a half kilos.
Speaker 1Okay.
Speaker 2So I win this week. Yeah, I can tell you right now. I am a lot heavier now than I was this morning. I was struggling last night with a severe peanut butter craving because I saw peanut butter at the store and then I bought it for some reason because I was too lazy to make my own.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 2And then, after I bought it, I was like I don't even know what to do with this. But today I threw everything out the window and I had a day.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 2We'll see how tomorrow goes.
Speaker 1Good luck, hey, lauren. Yeah, what's ruining your life?
Speaker 2I'm going to say peanut butter. Currently, I love it. I think, based off of my experience with this diet and everything and cravings, I have craved peanut butter more than potatoes. So, I am going to officially announce right now that my favorite food is peanut butter.
Speaker 1Okay, okay.
Speaker 2What's ruining your life?
Speaker 1I'd say some people at work. Because, some of the bosses, or one of the bosses feels like it's a good plan to like threaten all the people instead of like try to encourage people yeah, to make them work faster. And I'm like I'm doing my very best at what I'm, and on her it sounds like you know everyone stands around talking.
Speaker 2Yeah.
Speaker 1Some people might do that, but I know that I'm not doing that, but on her it sounds like everyone does that.
Speaker 2Okay.
Speaker 1And that makes me frustrated.
Speaker 2Yes.
Speaker 1That's what's ruining my life right now.
Speaker 2All right.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 2I'm glad you got that off of your chest.
Speaker 1Yeah, thank you.
Speaker 2Are you all out of sips?
Speaker 1I'm all out of sips, so that means we're all out of episode.
Speaker 2That's right.
Speaker 1Yeah, so thank you all for listening.
