Cold Coffee Banter & Setup

SPEAKER_02

In a world where everything is unscripted, this is roasty, toasty, roast.

SPEAKER_03

Sounds like good.

SPEAKER_00

Sounds like good. Well if you have nothing more exciting to say than whatever I'm talking about right now, then maybe we should get going with this.

SPEAKER_03

Maybe we should.

SPEAKER_00

Would you like to open this up?

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, let's start this.

SPEAKER_00

You can open it up then.

SPEAKER_03

Yummy.

SPEAKER_00

Uh coffee.

SPEAKER_03

Cold.

SPEAKER_00

Cold coffee, yes. Hello, and welcome to Roasty Toasty Ghosty. Stop it. My name is Lauren.

SPEAKER_03

And I'm Matias.

SPEAKER_00

And we are going to be your besties for the next hour or so.

SPEAKER_03

Yes.

SPEAKER_00

Yes.

SPEAKER_03

Yes, ma'am.

SPEAKER_00

Thank you. Welcome to the podcast in which you will learn nothing at all. We're gonna make that a thing. Yeah. I think. That's a new line that we've added to the script that no one's written down.

SPEAKER_03

No. We don't write things down.

SPEAKER_00

No, we don't, and it's partially a problem.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, it's kind of annoying.

SPEAKER_00

It's a lot of good ideas just being flushed down the toilet.

SPEAKER_03

Yep. And I yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, you.

SPEAKER_03

I yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Basically, yeah, you.

SPEAKER_03

I was thinking last week when we went through the the store and I came up with a really good insult. I'm like, I should write this this down. And then we didn't keep a list of isn't insults you can but no.

SPEAKER_00

It's gone now.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, it's gone.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Gone, gone, gone.

SPEAKER_00

But yes. Yes. You're here.

SPEAKER_03

I am.

SPEAKER_00

That's cool. I like that. How are you doing since you're here?

SPEAKER_03

Since I'm here, I'm good.

SPEAKER_00

Okay.

SPEAKER_03

How are you doing since you're here?

SPEAKER_00

I'm I'm okay. I I have a cold. Again. Guess who got me sick?

SPEAKER_03

Hmm. Can it be sick child?

SPEAKER_00

It was definitely sick child. Sick child, uh, among the other children that I have produced. Own was what I was gonna say, but that sounded bad. Like uh I own child slaves or something. The other children that I have, they all have a fall vacation, I guess. Uh a week of no school.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

And Sick Child was uh well, I mean, he didn't have the worst timing because he started getting a cold at the beginning of the vacation. So I mean, good for him for planning things out so nicely. Not so cool that he had to drag me down with him. No, that's not it wasn't really appreciated. Sometimes I can get away with uh not getting sick when the others get sick.

SPEAKER_03

That's the best kind of way.

SPEAKER_00

That's how I'm I'm doing. I'm not feeling great.

SPEAKER_03

So uh this uh fall vacation, have they fallen much?

SPEAKER_00

No, they don't move enough to fall.

SPEAKER_03

Uh huh.

SPEAKER_00

Because kids nowadays they lay around and stare at their phones or they are stuck in a chair staring at a computer.

SPEAKER_03

So they it's kind of a slow fall if they if they're gonna fall, it's gonna be slow.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Pretty much. I I don't believe any of them have actually fallen.

SPEAKER_03

No. Okay. Missed opportunity.

SPEAKER_00

I guess so. It's not too late.

SPEAKER_03

No.

SPEAKER_00

We still have like the rest of today and tomorrow.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, tomorrow.

SPEAKER_00

Tomorrow, and then school starts again.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. Then they can fall. Well, it's still falls. It's still falls.

SPEAKER_00

But it's not vacation. It's been a vacation from falling. Oh, okay. I think is what it actually means.

SPEAKER_01

Okay.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. So they take a break from falling for a week, and then next week they go back to school and they can fall as much as they want to. Yeah. Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Makes sense.

SPEAKER_00

I think so.

SPEAKER_03

Time to fall again.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Okay. So today is what? Saturday?

SPEAKER_03

It is.

SPEAKER_00

Still not Friday.

SPEAKER_03

It's not.

Sick Kid, Fall Break, And Scheduling

SPEAKER_00

We're not doing very good at keeping our schedule.

SPEAKER_03

No. Well, no.

SPEAKER_00

No.

SPEAKER_03

It's.

SPEAKER_00

It hasn't been Friday for a few weeks now, I think.

SPEAKER_03

No, I think so.

SPEAKER_00

Today is Saturday.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, it is.

SPEAKER_00

Uh, so we have like a week to talk about. Anything exciting you've been up to?

SPEAKER_03

I don't know. What happened on Friday last week? Because we recorded on Thursday.

SPEAKER_00

Oh yeah, I had my math test.

SPEAKER_03

Oh yeah.

SPEAKER_00

My math final, even. Okay, so I went through this thing and I was thinking, yeah, no, I don't think.

SPEAKER_03

Okay.

SPEAKER_00

I I don't think. Well, no, that was the problem because one of some of the uh problems on the test were like at one point in my life this problem was easy to solve, and right now I'm blinking, and I have no idea.

SPEAKER_03

Did you say blinking or blanking?

SPEAKER_00

Both. Both. I'm blinking so much. Right now I'm blinking that I can't stop.

SPEAKER_03

And that's why I failed. I can think about this problem on blinking.

SPEAKER_00

Right. I'm busy blinking. Luckily, I had like three hours to do it, so I spent at least one and a half to like uh yeah, one and a half of those hours blinking. And then I started the tests, and I was like, I don't know what I'm doing because I spent too much time focusing on blinking and not thinking about math. Anyway. Yeah. So a couple of the questions I struggled with because I'm an idiot. Also, there were a couple that I was just yeah, I I didn't feel good uh with the results when I handed it in. I I was like, there's no way I'm passing this.

SPEAKER_01

No.

SPEAKER_00

I don't I don't think I got a lot of this right.

SPEAKER_01

No.

SPEAKER_00

One of the questions even was so dumb. I have these dumb mistakes, okay? At least when I was in school growing up, I grew up in the states. In the school in the school. I grew up in the school in the states.

SPEAKER_01

Yes.

Math Final Panic And Passing

SPEAKER_00

And um, you know, when we separate uh numbers, we separate with commas, right? If you have a thousand, you would separate the one with a comma and then the rest of the zeros. Here in Sweden, at least, the comma can also be a decimal point.

SPEAKER_03

Yes.

SPEAKER_00

So I had like a a number that was like what fifty-six thousand seven hundred or something. Just random number I'm coming up with. Now to make my point, I had the 56 and then the comma and then the 700, right? And I got that one wrong because I had the comma that was mistaken for a decimal point. Okay, so I think I had the number right.

SPEAKER_03

It was just the comma that screwed me up. So you have like uh a dot or what?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, our decimal is the dot. And then the comma is a separator for like thousands, hundreds, and the rest of the number things.

SPEAKER_03

Like we said at the beginning of this, you will not learn anything from us.

SPEAKER_00

Right. Don't listen to me, because I'm not gonna teach you anything. I did end up passing in the end, if I'm gonna fast forward a bit. Uh I passed. Uh do you remember what I said I had?

SPEAKER_03

No.

SPEAKER_00

I don't remember. But either way, point is that I passed. Yes. Disappoint dispoint disappointed by the point that uh was not supposed to be made.

SPEAKER_03

Disappoint your pasts. No. No, you're not the disappointed that you're past.

SPEAKER_00

No, I'm glad. Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

But then But it could be better.

SPEAKER_00

Right after my final, I immediately started with the next course.

SPEAKER_03

Okay.

SPEAKER_00

So yeah, I'm gonna try to zoom through the course so that I can hopefully pass it before we take our states trip. Because technically the term ends when we get back.

SPEAKER_01

Okay.

SPEAKER_00

So I'm gonna be missing a couple weeks. Oh. So I'm gonna try to go as quickly as I possibly can. Yes. That was Friday.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. Saturday didn't go to the house.

SPEAKER_00

You worked the evening, that's why we didn't record.

SPEAKER_03

Oh yeah, that's true. And then Saturday, did we uh see each other?

SPEAKER_00

Taught gymnastics.

SPEAKER_03

You did?

SPEAKER_00

I did.

SPEAKER_03

I don't think I went home. We uh met because we met on Sunday, I know.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, we I saw you on Sunday for some reason.

SPEAKER_03

We went to the stores.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, right. We went shopping.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

And we looked at Halloween and Christmas decorations.

SPEAKER_03

Yes.

SPEAKER_00

Uh which was fun. It was nice because we don't really go shopping together that much.

SPEAKER_03

No. No, we don't.

SPEAKER_00

It's always fun to wander around stores with you.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

I did all the shopping, you got nothing.

SPEAKER_03

I got nothing.

SPEAKER_00

Absolutely nothing. We got snacks, maybe, but you didn't get any decorations or anything.

SPEAKER_03

No, no. I uh I really just want to look at it. I want to browse.

SPEAKER_00

Browse.

SPEAKER_03

Browsing.

SPEAKER_00

You're a browser.

SPEAKER_03

I'm a browser.

SPEAKER_00

Browser.

SPEAKER_03

You brought me home.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Yep.

SPEAKER_00

And then we had the week.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. And I mean I can make my week fairly short because I was working.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Daytime.

SPEAKER_03

Daytime.

SPEAKER_00

I worked one day during the week. I I had the rest of my Swedish finals this week. I I think it went okay. Yeah. And then what else? I don't know. I haven't really gone to the gym.

SPEAKER_03

No. I've been disappointed with my numbers.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I haven't really been checking that much, especially like recently.

SPEAKER_03

No.

SPEAKER_00

Because Sick Child had a birthday yesterday, which was Friday.

SPEAKER_03

Yes.

SPEAKER_00

Halloween.

SPEAKER_03

Halloween.

SPEAKER_00

Was yesterday. I guess we might as well talk about that.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Because I can't think of anything else.

SPEAKER_03

No.

SPEAKER_00

So yeah, Sick Child turned six. Sixth Child.

SPEAKER_03

Sixth Child.

SPEAKER_00

His name is Six Child Young.

SPEAKER_03

But he is the third child of yours.

Shopping Together And Week Recap

SPEAKER_00

Yes, he's the third child who uh turned six. He turned six and he has a tendency to get sick. So, uh we had Fika to celebrate him. Yes. We watched movies. We did. And we went trick-or-treating. We're dead. And we all dressed up as inflatable dinosaurs. Yep. And we ran around town and collected candy and uh nearly died because it was really warm and you can't breathe. And I can't see. And I'm sweating.

SPEAKER_03

That was the worst part for me.

SPEAKER_00

Breathing.

SPEAKER_03

No, can't see.

SPEAKER_00

Yes.

SPEAKER_03

But I mean I I didn't mind the, you know, red net. Okay. But it was when it fogged up.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

That was uh just then I couldn't see anything.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I mean mine was fogging up too, so I was like trying to wipe it with my forehead, but my forehead was sweaty because of all the air I'm creating inside. And so I felt like I was just scratching up my forehead because of the seams.

SPEAKER_03

Okay. Yeah, I took in my arm and just Well, I had to do that a few times too.

SPEAKER_00

But still, and I dressed up warm because I assumed it was cold outside. I didn't realize how warm I was gonna be inside the costume. So I was like super sweaty, and the condensation on the window was annoying, and n nothing was really that good about it, and everyone wanted to go home and no one had fun.

SPEAKER_03

So But we got candy. We did get candy, so something good about it.

SPEAKER_00

I think there was yeah, that was like the only good thing. And maybe we made a couple people smile.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, we did.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, and I like that part.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. People uh the candy. Yeah, at least one wanted to take a picture of us.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. And then we went to one door in which there was an old lady who opened up the door and she had a whole freaking monologue planned out for us. I don't know what uh I don't know why. Why she had to stand there and talk so slowly and be like, wow, you guys are dressed up so nicely. Hmm.

SPEAKER_03

No jokes in this.

SPEAKER_00

There was there were no jokes. It wasn't even funny. She was just like, hmm, I wonder if I have anything for you guys. I was like, alright.

SPEAKER_03

She's like, Give me the m-wow! Give me the candy. I almost said money.

SPEAKER_00

Give me your money. It's like, no, my Diaz. That's not what we're doing here. Oh, you completely misunderstood the assignment.

SPEAKER_02

I want to go home.

SPEAKER_00

She just wanted money. No, she's just like put on this. I don't I I can't even call it a show because I she couldn't have planned it. No. But she did have things planned for uh I mean she had candy like wrapped up nicely in like napkins and gave them to us.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

And uh so I don't know what the show was about.

SPEAKER_03

No. And then when uh she almost wouldn't let us leave either. She's like quit talking, lady.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, and she you didn't have a bag. I didn't and she's like, Oh, but what about that guy over there? And I was like, I can take one for him. She's like, No, you're gonna steal it from him. It's like, excuse me, lady, you don't know me. I can I can share. So I took the bag from her.

SPEAKER_03

It sounded like she really knows you.

SPEAKER_00

Oh my gosh. She knows my buttons, at least. I was like, that's enough. Give me the bag. I got the bag and I handed it to you, in which you put it into my bag.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

So I hope she got kind of happy by seeing that. Like, yes, he got the bag and then I got it back. So, uh gosh. So yeah.

SPEAKER_03

We uh It was interesting.

SPEAKER_00

It was interesting. Sick Child did not go with us because he was sick. Yeah, uh he wanted to throughout the day. He wanted to go with us, and then he heard it might be kind of cold outside. And he was like, nah, I'll stay home.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

So he stayed home with my life partner, and I think they both were happy because I think that's what they both wanted in the end, really, in the long run.

SPEAKER_03

And it's funny that um we did costume changes at the last minute.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, we all got what we wanted in the end. Because uh my oldest was a Spinosaurus, my daughter was a pink T-Rex, my life partner was going to be a triceratops, yeah, but you got the triceratops.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I won.

SPEAKER_00

You were the Velociraptor, but the Velociraptor was too small for you, really. And I wanted the Velociraptor, so I got the Velociraptor, and my daughter had a friend with us, and so I was like, You get to be my costume, which was a pterodactyl. Yeah. She's like, okay. She was like really awkward about it. The friend had to go home in the middle, pretty much, of the trick-or-treating. So um, my oldest had a friend who had just gotten home from trick-or-treating and wanted to go with us.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, and we were at their place when she got the call the to go home. Go home.

Halloween: Dino Costumes And Trick-Or-Treating

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. So it was like, okay, well, we have an extra costume. You can put this on. And he was like, heck yeah, I want to put that on. So he put on the costume and he went trick-or-treating again with us this time. So I think it all worked out in the end. Both the older kids got to hang out with a friend.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Uh, pterodactyl friend. And I think we all looked so funny walking around.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. Yeah, that's true.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. That was our Halloween. And then we went home and watched another movie and ate all the candy. It's all gone.

SPEAKER_03

Yep.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Uh anything else?

SPEAKER_03

No. Should we talk about the movies?

SPEAKER_00

Maybe we should talk about the movies. Because we did watch movies yesterday.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, we did.

SPEAKER_00

Two of them.

SPEAKER_03

Oh yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Even. Uh so would you like to move beyond?

SPEAKER_03

Let's move on.

SPEAKER_00

Alright. So yesterday we watched Signs. And then we watched Eight Mile.

SPEAKER_03

Yes.

SPEAKER_00

Eight Mile.

SPEAKER_03

The Eight Mile. No, I'm not.

SPEAKER_00

No, it's not the Eight Mile. It's one eight mile.

SPEAKER_03

Eighteen mile?

SPEAKER_00

No. Eight mile. Yeah, okay. So I'm gonna start by telling you about signs. Signs. Okay. Excuse me.

SPEAKER_03

It's okay. I'm you're crying?

SPEAKER_00

Nose. I'm nosy. Excuse me. I'm nosy.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Um, my nose is being a nose. And it's annoying. Nose is crying. My nose is crying. No, it's um the opposite. It's stuck. Okay. My nose is stuck on my face. It's not great.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, you're trying to take it off, but Oh, that would be great.

SPEAKER_00

You know, how great would it be if we all were Lego pieces or made out of Lego pieces and like just could pop off my nose and replace it with a functioning nose and legs. Not where the nose goes, but where the leg goes.

SPEAKER_02

A leg as a big thing.

SPEAKER_00

Signs. Yes. Is a movie with Mel Gibson. Yes. Cool. Also, uh Macaulay Colkin's brother. Yep. That's his name.

SPEAKER_03

Rory.

SPEAKER_00

Rory. What kind of name is Rory? He's not a lion.

SPEAKER_03

I think he won an Oscar this year, actually.

SPEAKER_00

He's still alive, yes. He's still alive. He's still doing things. Yeah. Okay. That's cool. What did he do?

SPEAKER_03

He did a movie with uh Jesse Isenberg.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, he's Aaron. No. Aaron's name is Aaron. Not Jesse. From Breaking Bad.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Uh Jesse Eisenhower Berg.

SPEAKER_03

Eisenberg. Okay. Who? Uh he's in Sombaland movies.

SPEAKER_00

Oh.

SPEAKER_03

The curly haired guy.

SPEAKER_00

See the cowboy? No.

SPEAKER_03

No, no?

SPEAKER_00

No, he's the nerd.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, the nerd guy.

SPEAKER_00

Who's The Cowboy? Yeah, actually.

SPEAKER_03

Woody Harrelson.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I I know him.

SPEAKER_03

Okay. Um So I didn't have to tell you that.

SPEAKER_00

No. I'm quizzing you. Um, I was thinking about Michael. Yeah. Michael. Not Scott, because he's from the office. Okay. He's a character even. Yeah. Michael Michael Sarah. Sarah, yeah. Yeah, he's he's also curly haired. Yeah, but he's some.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

At the end, maybe it curled a little bit.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. They are kind of similar.

SPEAKER_00

They're the same person.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. Oh. Some people think so.

SPEAKER_00

Some people would say they're the same person.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Um, but they're not. No. No. One was in Zombie Land. The other one was not. And I thought he was.

SPEAKER_03

Jesse Eisenberg is in uh Now You See Me, the movie. Now you see me.

SPEAKER_00

Like that's random. Yeah. Now you see me. Like, yes, I've been looking at you this whole time.

SPEAKER_03

You were saying that when we walked in.

SPEAKER_00

Now you see me.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. Now you don't, I said.

SPEAKER_00

Oh.

SPEAKER_03

But uh yeah.

SPEAKER_00

This is an interesting story.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. Okay, let's talk about science.

SPEAKER_00

This is a movie. Um with aliens. Yes. And uh Mel Gibson has two children, one who is not Macaulay Hulkin, but his brother. Nobody knows him. No.

SPEAKER_03

Um but he won an Oscar.

SPEAKER_00

He won an Oscar with Jesse Eisenberg. Yeah. Okay. Um also there's a girl who's Meg, right?

SPEAKER_03

Maggie.

SPEAKER_00

Maggie. Not Mel Gidson. Um, and not Maggie either, but Maggie. Uh from the zombie movie. Yeah. Not Zombieland.

SPEAKER_03

No. But she's another zombie movie.

SPEAKER_00

With Arnold Schwarzenegger. Yeah. Not a great movie. No. Um, definitely on the bottom of the list. Oh yeah. At the very bottom under the list. We never made it. It's not even on the list. No. It's under the list.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. We never made a top or bottom list to Schwarzenegger movies. No. Maybe we should do that one day.

SPEAKER_00

We didn't do that at the time.

SPEAKER_03

No, we didn't have a podcast at the time.

SPEAKER_00

That's true. That's also a problem. That uh that that answers that question as to why. Um anyway. Uh so Melanie Gibson has two kids and a brother.

SPEAKER_03

And Joaquin Phoenix. And he also won an Oscar. Oh. A few years.

SPEAKER_00

For zombies?

SPEAKER_03

No, he was Joker.

SPEAKER_00

Ah, a different kind of zombie.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Okay. He was the Joker.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. In the movie Joker. Not the one with uh Bjorn Riffs.

SPEAKER_00

Not the one with Keith Ledger.

SPEAKER_03

No. He was another Joker, but he also won Oscar. Good luck with the editing this.

SPEAKER_00

This is the best the best episode ever. Okay. Okay. Because we're talking about everything except for what we're supposed to be talking about. Science. Which is somewhat everything is Okay, uh sure, I hear you. But in a way, everything is connected. Okay? Because we've got jokers and zombies and aliens, and we're Halloween. Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

You can't butt the ding.

SPEAKER_00

I hear you, but hear me out. Everything is related. Okay? I'm not really that sidetracked. Okay. Which brings me to the other thing about uh other things, but I'll talk about that later. So there's aliens, and uh Melagibson is scared, and so is everyone else, and the aliens are attacking, which is kind of cool. Yeah. It's kinda scary. It's a thriller, at least it's got sh it's got suspense.

SPEAKER_03

It kind of builds.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

It's a building movie.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

It's not like Minecraft. Yeah, it's Minecraft.

Movie Night: Signs Review

SPEAKER_00

It's Minecraft the movie. Also, there's aliens. Yeah. No, uh it was uh aliens and stuff. It was not so much like visually scary. It's more like oh the cinematics in this one uh was good because you don't really have to see what's going on, but you can feel like the suspense.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Like something outside is happening. You can't really see it.

SPEAKER_03

No.

SPEAKER_00

But you know it's there. Yeah. And not knowing what's gonna happen.

SPEAKER_03

Sometimes that's the scariest part, what you don't see.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, that's why people are afraid of the dark.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

I mean, I get it.

SPEAKER_03

You like the movie?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Yeah. I I think so. Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

It's it's funny. You you do like the M Night Chamalan movies.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. I guess I do.

SPEAKER_03

You also like the ones with Bruce Willis. Yeah. At least the splits, uh, unbreakable.

SPEAKER_00

I think it's kind of funny that the director is in the movies.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

That's kind of a fun tidbit. Yeah. He's not in there for very long, but he is there.

SPEAKER_03

Mm-hmm. And this one he has uh a fairly significant role. When you think about I mean, he he hurt the family, but in an accident.

SPEAKER_00

It was an accident.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, there was another thing that I wanted to bring up because I thought it was kinda weird.

SPEAKER_01

Okay.

SPEAKER_00

That um, you know, there was a uh I guess it's a kind of a spoiler. But this movie's from 2002. Yeah. It's like 20 years old. Yeah. Over 20 years old. So the mom died in the car accident caused by this guy who fell asleep by the wheel. And when she died, she said it was meant to be, right?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

And then the guy who killed her also said it was meant to be. So why did they both say that?

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Like, did they both want this?

SPEAKER_03

Did they talk to each other?

SPEAKER_00

Were they Was it planned? It might have been. And then, like, how could they both have the same point of view? Like, this was meant to happen.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Cause there's no way that, like, if you get hit by a car, your first thought isn't really, oh well, I guess this is just what was supposed to happen.

SPEAKER_03

No, and I I think, isn't it a bit weird when you're talking to someone uh who was close to the person you accidentally killed and said it was meant to be.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Like I meant to kill her.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. Yeah. You know.

SPEAKER_00

I don't know. I thought it was a little weird. Yeah. That part.

SPEAKER_03

It it's a weird phrasing and it's yeah, when you think about it.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. I mean, I kinda understand like following the universe and just like, you know, if something happens, then yeah, I guess that was just supposed to happen in my story.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, and like I associate the phrase meant to be with something positive.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

This wasn't positive, I think.

SPEAKER_00

I don't think so. So I have a feeling it it must have been planned in some way.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. Maybe.

SPEAKER_00

Because there's no way they both would have said the same line. No. Not in a realistic uh scenario.

SPEAKER_03

No. But I agree. It's kind of weird. One thing I also like with this movie is the comedy. It has several uh points in the The brother was funny. He was funny. I like the girl who was like confessing to Mel Gibson in the store.

SPEAKER_00

He's not even a reverend anymore. She's like, okay, yeah, but hear me out. I have confessions to make. Yeah. Like, oh, alright.

SPEAKER_03

And she kept uh count on how many times she swore everything.

SPEAKER_00

Uh yeah, that was kind of funny.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. And also like when when they were talking about uh the alien on the roof at the beginning.

SPEAKER_00

It was dark.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, it was dark. And then uh uh the policewoman said something about yeah, but there are uh Scandinavian women Olympic. Then they're like, okay, but if it wasn't a Scandinavian Olympic woman.

SPEAKER_00

It was funny.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

But it was really good. What did you think about the movie?

SPEAKER_03

I do like this one. It's a little bit slow, but like we said, it builds. Yeah. So it has this eerie feeling to it. It is good. And I think it was a fairly good choice for a Halloween movie.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Which brings us to the next movie that was also uh Halloween.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, maybe Maybe not as Halloween-y. No. But okay, that was Eight Mile.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

And uh that movie stars Eminem or as our friend says Enema.

SPEAKER_00

Uh yeah. I believe his name is Marshall Manners.

SPEAKER_03

Yes, I believe so too.

SPEAKER_00

Uh also known as Slim Shady.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

Movie Night: Eight Mile Chat

SPEAKER_00

But he's the real Slim Shady. Because a lot of people would also think that they're Slim Shady, but they're not, because he's the real Slim Shady. Oh, okay. Eminem.

SPEAKER_03

That's lyrics, I guess, or what? Is it something I'm missing?

SPEAKER_00

He's Slim Shady. Uh somewhat. Okay. It's a summary of the lyrics.

SPEAKER_03

Okay. But yes, this movie stars Eminem and uh Kim Basinger.

SPEAKER_00

Uh-huh.

SPEAKER_03

Michael Shannon is in this one too. Anthony Mackey. Am I forgetting someone?

SPEAKER_00

I only know Eminem.

SPEAKER_03

Okay.

SPEAKER_00

He's the only one I know from this movie. Okay. Yeah. Also, one of the other characters might have been in Breaking Bad.

SPEAKER_03

Okay.

SPEAKER_00

But I didn't really look it up.

SPEAKER_03

No. Anthony Mackey. He was the guy who was supposed to rap at the end but didn't.

SPEAKER_00

Uh huh.

SPEAKER_03

That guy.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

He's in the Marvel movies nowadays.

SPEAKER_00

Oh. So he's not really rapping anywhere.

SPEAKER_03

No. He didn't rap in this movie either.

SPEAKER_00

No, no, I guess not.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, maybe that's a spoiler, by the way, but what is this movie even about? Yeah, it's about Eminem and him his his rapping.

SPEAKER_00

Uh-huh.

SPEAKER_03

Oh yeah, Brittany Murphy is in this movie too.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Isn't she dead?

SPEAKER_03

She's dead. Okay, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Uh is that the the girl?

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, the girl.

SPEAKER_00

Okay. Very specific.

SPEAKER_03

Who slept around.

SPEAKER_00

Uh yeah. She's a bad guy. Yeah. Or something.

SPEAKER_03

And yeah, he's uh like flipping people off and uh he's uh He's doing things that Eminem does. Yeah, and uh beats people up, I guess. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

For fun, maybe that's true.

SPEAKER_03

But he's nice to the kid.

SPEAKER_00

Oh yeah, that's important.

SPEAKER_03

I like that. Yeah, other than that, he's a troubled young man.

SPEAKER_00

So the thing with Eminem, my take on Eminem, okay? You can think what you want. Yeah. I think he's a good guy. He's a good guy, but life is not nice to him as he is to others. You know, that's kind of what I was getting out of it. Yeah. Because he is good to his daughter. Yeah. And just other people are just not nice to him. And his mom was troubled as well.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

So things could have been better.

SPEAKER_03

Yes, definitely.

SPEAKER_00

I think he'd be a lot less angry if life was nicer to him.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, that's true.

SPEAKER_00

Which I mean, I I think that goes for pretty much anyone.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. What's more to say about the story of this movie?

SPEAKER_00

Okay, so the movie is basically the lyrics of Lose Yourself. Lose yourself. Right, because it starts out with him at a rap battle and he chokes. Right. Yeah. And he's basically going through life and trying to make a name for himself and build a good reputation and win rap battles so that he can get money to leave and do better things.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

And he does not lose himself.

SPEAKER_03

No. He he wins himself.

SPEAKER_00

He wins himself. Yeah. In the end. It's a really good ending. Yeah. I think.

SPEAKER_03

It is. What do you think about this movie?

SPEAKER_00

You know, I kinda like the movie. I also kinda like Eminem. Okay. But I don't know if that's relevant. It's kind of a rugged movie too. But I like it.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

What do you think?

SPEAKER_03

Uh yeah, I kinda like it too. I don't know much about Eminem. My sister was more of a fan of his. But I do like this movie. I have seen it before since my sister was a fan of his. Uh-huh. So yeah, we had it on VHS.

SPEAKER_00

Okay.

SPEAKER_03

I do like it. It's a way to like understand his character. I think that this movie feels like it's based on his life, but I d I'm not sure. I don't know much about the guy. No. But uh that's how I chose to see it. I feel like it's a pretty good movie.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I enjoyed it.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, and I have to say that I'm not a big rap music fan. I do have to say that Eminem is a good rapper. I do like his style in rapping because some people makes it feel like they're just talking.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

He actually has a rhythm to it. It sounds good when he does it. And it's not just him. Other people also do that well. But he's one of the ones who can do it well.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Would you want to see him live?

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

It would be an experience.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

I've never gone to a rap concert.

SPEAKER_03

No, neither have I.

SPEAKER_00

It might be on a bucket list.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. We can do it.

SPEAKER_00

Just now.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

I I Right now? Right now. We need to wrap this up so that we can go. Because I already bought his tickets. I was just double checking that you'd be okay with it. So we can go.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, if I had said no, you you need to find someone else.

SPEAKER_00

I need to find a another bestie. My bestie needs to be ready for any adventure at any time. Yeah. Like you have to be on your toes.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, that that's why it's good. Be ready for anything. That's why it's good to have me as a bestie, because I don't have much of a life.

SPEAKER_00

Exactly. You have nothing else going for you.

SPEAKER_03

I'm like, yeah, sure, I can do that.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, let's go.

SPEAKER_03

I'm always ready for anything.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. You want to go invade India with me? Alright, let's go.

SPEAKER_03

I don't have anything better. No.

SPEAKER_00

Just us against India. Let's go. Let's do this. I don't have a plan. No. Let's just go.

SPEAKER_03

Let's wing it.

SPEAKER_00

Just wing it and see what happens. If we end up in jail, then cool. Let's do that. More adventures. I was just kidding. Alright.

SPEAKER_03

Okay.

SPEAKER_00

Anything else?

SPEAKER_03

No.

SPEAKER_00

Then maybe we should take a break.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, let's do that.

SPEAKER_00

We will be right back.

SPEAKER_03

Right back.

SPEAKER_00

I can record my new hit single.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. For Eminem.

SPEAKER_00

For Eminem, right. Here's if Eminem is out there, he can uh listen to this and give me some feedback and maybe we can work on something together. Okay. Ready? Okay. Doob doob doop. Boop boop boop. And that's all I got so far.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. But the amazing thing about this is that you came up with it by myself. Yeah. Yeah. In the break.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. I don't need help.

SPEAKER_03

It was like that.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. I I'm just I've got talent, I think, and I'm also going to audition for American Idol. In Sweden.

SPEAKER_03

They have to come here.

SPEAKER_00

They have to come here for one person.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

I'm an American. I wanna audition for American Idol.

SPEAKER_03

Or you could do it in the live.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

You can film yourself from this office.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. And uh yeah, I can zoom my audition, I think. With my new hit single. Yeah. The original song.

SPEAKER_02

Doob doob.

SPEAKER_00

Doob doob doop boop boop boop. Doob doop boop boop. Yeah. Yeah. That's all I've got so far. But it's a work in progress.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. This is the audition.

SPEAKER_00

Right. Um, I hope that they'll uh they'll say yes to me.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, I'm fairly sure.

Quicksand Trivia And Old Films

SPEAKER_00

I mean, why wouldn't they? It's already stuck in your head. Yeah. So there's no getting rid of it. Uh we are back, by the way. Um we're we're gonna say it this time. Yeah, we're back.

SPEAKER_03

We're back.

SPEAKER_00

We are back, and I have some things I have to say. Okay. I have things to get off my chest because they're weighing me down. Yeah, no, I'm gonna talk about some things that we talked about last week. Okay. Last week's episode. Oh we talked about quicksand last week, right? And then I had a whole bunch of fun facts about quicksand that I thought were fun and they also were facts. So the first onset tragedy, right? Film set was in 1914, a movie called Across the Border, in which a horse fell into quicksand and the cameraman and the actress died on set. That was the first time someone died on set.

SPEAKER_03

Wow.

SPEAKER_00

In 1914.

SPEAKER_03

And that was in qu uh quicksand.

SPEAKER_00

In quicksand. Wow. It's dangerous, I'm telling you. And I don't know why, but I am so fascinated in like the firsts of like film and stuff. Yeah. Like the first movies and the first uh captured photograph and all those like history things. Really interesting for me.

SPEAKER_03

So uh is this movie on the list too?

SPEAKER_00

I couldn't find it. It is a lost film.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, okay.

SPEAKER_00

I wanted to find a clip or something, can't find it. But you can find the first like moving picture online if you Google it.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

It's a horse.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, I've seen it.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I I think I forwarded it to you, right?

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

I linked it to you. But uh yeah, and like the same thing with the first like quote unquote uh musical was the jazz singer that we watched.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. And we also have other really, really old movies later on in the movie list that I added like last year or something. I don't know. So yeah, uh, Quicksand killed people. Mickey Rooney starred in a film called Quicksand, but I didn't see that much of the movie. I saw a short clip and it was just a girl who was gambling. Yeah, okay. And he was also there.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, I've I've seen a movie with Michael Keaton that's called Quicksand.

SPEAKER_00

Is it it's not the same movie. Is it a uh a when they remake the movie? Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

I I don't know. But this movie is like uh fairly low budget.

SPEAKER_00

Okay, is there a sandworm included?

SPEAKER_03

No.

SPEAKER_00

Okay.

SPEAKER_03

But I've seen other movies where with Michael Keaton and sandworms.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, yeah. Um, a couple of them at least.

SPEAKER_03

I forgot what they're called.

SPEAKER_00

No, that's okay. It's just as well that you don't know the title. My next thing I wanted to bring up was Sloth. He was not in Mad Max 3.

SPEAKER_03

No.

SPEAKER_00

But he was in Dukes of Hazzard.

SPEAKER_03

Okay.

SPEAKER_00

Have you seen Dukes of Hazard?

SPEAKER_03

I ha uh not the TV show. No. No.

SPEAKER_00

Okay. The movie though.

SPEAKER_03

Uh I have seen the movie.

SPEAKER_00

Okay.

SPEAKER_03

But uh I think he died before that movie. He died fairly young, right? Didn't he?

SPEAKER_00

Oh, Sloth or the actor who uh played in Mad Max III.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, Sloth, I was Okay. Oh, you were talking about this guy. Um Mad Max III guy.

SPEAKER_00

Oh no, Sloth was in Dukes of Hazard. Right, right. Yes. But he died early.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, um I think so. Or like in the 90s or so. Okay. Isn't his name like John something?

SPEAKER_00

Maybe it was John. Maybe we can settle with his name was John.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, let's call him John.

SPEAKER_00

Some people also call him Sloth.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

But that's all I had. I thought it was kind of interesting tidbits and things that should have been mentioned on the episode that were not.

Mad Libs: Cats, Horror, And Chaos

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, you you um texted me this.

SPEAKER_00

I did.

SPEAKER_03

And you said that you were gonna throw some things at me, and I'm I'm like, are you gonna throw objects at me next time you see me?

SPEAKER_00

No, no, no, no. I was throwing facts at you.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. It it took me a while.

SPEAKER_00

Uh yeah, I I noticed that. Okay. So this next part uh of the episode, we are going to do mad libs.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Okay.

SPEAKER_01

Okay.

SPEAKER_00

Let's do a couple mad libs just to keep this pretty quick and equally entertaining. I'm gonna start off with an adjective.

SPEAKER_03

Eerie.

SPEAKER_00

Halloween words.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Very exciting.

SPEAKER_03

Noun ghosts.

SPEAKER_00

Ghost. Adjective. Spooky. Ooh. This is how I'm gonna respond to all the words. Ooh. Adjective. Scary. Scary. Another adjective.

SPEAKER_03

Dark.

SPEAKER_00

Dark. Part of the body. Dark. Dark. Part of the body, a plural.

SPEAKER_03

What's the scariest part of the body?

SPEAKER_00

The dark ones.

SPEAKER_03

But I can't use the darkest ones.

SPEAKER_00

No. Uh I don't know. Like organs, maybe.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. Organs are scary.

SPEAKER_00

Oh yeah, there you go. Zombies. Ooh. Noun.

SPEAKER_03

Skeleton.

SPEAKER_00

There you go.

SPEAKER_03

That that's also part of the body.

SPEAKER_00

I'd uh verb and that one's never been used.

SPEAKER_01

No.

SPEAKER_00

Ver skeleton ending in ing. Because that's what I was saying. Verb also could be something people could say.

SPEAKER_03

Rattling.

SPEAKER_00

Rattling. Okay.

SPEAKER_03

Rattling.

SPEAKER_00

Noun.

SPEAKER_03

Zombie.

SPEAKER_00

Okay. Animal?

SPEAKER_03

Bat.

SPEAKER_00

Alright. Noun. Ooh. Just gonna be ghosties this whole time. Ooh. Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

I already used ghosts, so a different noun. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Like a hedgehog. Those are scary. They're little spike balls.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, you can use that.

SPEAKER_00

Okay. Hedgehog. Scary.

SPEAKER_02

Horror. Is that what sh horror or horror horror? Horror. Horror. Horror. I'm like a dog. How is that a noun?

SPEAKER_03

Isn't it?

SPEAKER_00

Okay. Another noun. I feel like I'm not the only one struggling here.

SPEAKER_03

Another noun. Scary noun.

SPEAKER_00

That's your noun, scary noun. Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Alien.

SPEAKER_00

That's a good idea. Uh a good one. Yeah. Ooh, aliens.

SPEAKER_03

I just thought about the movie I recently watched.

SPEAKER_00

Was it aliens?

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Okay. Adjective?

SPEAKER_03

Adjective. Windy.

SPEAKER_00

Ooh. Adverb.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, adverb. Frightfully.

SPEAKER_00

Okay. Adjective.

SPEAKER_03

Dangerous.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, yeah. That's a good one. Okay, so this story uh is very Halloween themed because it's dogs versus cats.

SPEAKER_03

Oh.

SPEAKER_00

And sometimes people are scared of dogs versus cats. And cats. So yeah, here we go. If you've ever owned both dogs and cats, you know that the differences between the two species are eerie. They are like knights and ghost. The argument about which pet is more spooky will continue until the end of time. Assuming you're scared of both.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

The argument about which pet is more spooky will continue until the end of time. But it's easy to see why cats are scary. For instance, cats won't embarrass you in front of your guests by parading around with your dark underwear in their brains. Ugh, cats. Cats are also funnier than dogs. Why do they have your underwear in their brains? That's just I'm stuck there. Okay. Uh cats are also funnier than dogs, even if they don't know it. And they don't give a skeleton if you laugh at them. Okay. Because they are too busy rattling their revenge. Like rattlesnakes. But they're cats. But if you put a rattle at the end of their tail. Tail tail.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

They're a rattlesnake. Have you ever done that?

SPEAKER_03

Rattle cat.

SPEAKER_00

Rattle cat. Rattlecat.

SPEAKER_03

I have not. Okay. Yet. That's I'm gonna fix that.

SPEAKER_00

That's on you. Yeah. That was your mistake.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, I have to fix that.

SPEAKER_00

You do. Or something. Cats are natural zombie repellents. No spider, fly, or bat stands a chance if there's a cat in the horror. Horror. Horror.

SPEAKER_02

Horror.

SPEAKER_00

Horror. Horror. That's a dog. Cats have no interest in being hooked up to an alien and going for a walk. Because you're the alien. And apparently they look like people.

SPEAKER_03

They don't want to be hooked up with an alien.

SPEAKER_00

No. You they'd rather curl up and take a windy nap. I wanna know what that means.

SPEAKER_03

I I had windy naps.

SPEAKER_00

Have you had windy naps?

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Okay. I'm not sure I want to know.

SPEAKER_03

No, I'm not gonna tell you.

SPEAKER_00

Don't tell me please. And it's frightfully proven that cat owners are smarter and more dangerous than dog owners. So go get yourself a cat.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. If you want to feel dangerous.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, living on the edge. Got myself a cat. See what happens. Here is this and also a pencil so that you can write words.

SPEAKER_03

Adjective.

SPEAKER_00

Unknown.

SPEAKER_03

Mmm. Yeah. Noun.

SPEAKER_00

Spike ball.

SPEAKER_03

Spike ball.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Verb.

SPEAKER_00

To sneak. Like being sneaky. Lurkin.

SPEAKER_03

Noun?

SPEAKER_00

Monster. You didn't say that, did you?

SPEAKER_03

No.

SPEAKER_00

Okay.

SPEAKER_03

I saw the the horror in your voice.

What’s Ruining Our Lives

SPEAKER_00

The horror. Horror. Horror. Blah.

SPEAKER_03

Type of liquid.

SPEAKER_00

Blood. That was uncalled for.

SPEAKER_03

I thought that was scary.

SPEAKER_00

Coffee?

SPEAKER_03

Cold coffee. Blood. Okay.

SPEAKER_00

I don't know why I said that was uncalled for. That was not at all what I meant to say. I don't even know what I was supposed to say, but that wasn't it.

SPEAKER_03

Okay.

SPEAKER_00

Okay.

SPEAKER_03

Verb ending in ing.

SPEAKER_00

Lurking. Also sneaky, but lurky instead.

SPEAKER_03

Person. Female.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, that's me. No, we're gonna use uh Medusa. Because she's scary.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Also, Madonna could have been a word. Yeah, she's also scary. She's also scary.

SPEAKER_03

She tried to kill uh weird owl.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, yeah. She also was in Argentina once. So that's kind of scary.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. True. Of course. Verb.

SPEAKER_00

Experimenting. Like a mad scientist kind of guy.

SPEAKER_03

Experiment.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Could be scary if it goes wrong.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. Adjective and adjective.

SPEAKER_00

Okay. Foggy. Also. Mischievous.

SPEAKER_03

Mischievous. How do you spell it?

SPEAKER_00

C H I E voos.

SPEAKER_03

V-U-S.

SPEAKER_00

O U S. Okay. Mischievous.

SPEAKER_03

Okay.

SPEAKER_00

Whatever you wrote, that's right.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, is that it?

SPEAKER_03

That's it.

SPEAKER_00

Alright. I get to write right write this one now.

SPEAKER_03

No, you you get to read it though. I wrote it.

SPEAKER_00

I get to write this one. It's my story. Okay. I'm gonna read your story. This one is called My House, My Rules.

SPEAKER_01

Okay.

SPEAKER_00

Unknown Servant. Whoever you are, this is to you. It's quite obvious that you think you control me, but we all know that I am in charge of this spike ball. Also known as a hedgehog.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. Uh I'm in control of it.

SPEAKER_00

I control this hedgehog. You think I am just a simple cat, but I am able to out sneak you any day of the week.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, that's true.

SPEAKER_00

That's true. I have tried to sneak. Cats are always better at sneaking than I am. Yeah. Yeah. Please be aware that your house is actually mine. And I am not to be disturbed if I happen to be sleeping on your bed or favorite piece of monster. This piece of monster is mine.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, I'm sleeping on it.

SPEAKER_00

I will scratch any piece of monster I want. I do not want to drink blood from an ordinary bowl. I prefer to lap water from a lurking faucet or a toilet. This faucet is also sneaky.

SPEAKER_03

So why why uh why did you start with saying blood and then continue with water?

SPEAKER_00

Because I don't want to drink blood. I want water.

SPEAKER_03

Okay, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

So please remember to leave the toilet seat up. I don't care what Medusa has to say about that. Don't try to get me to experiment during the day. What are we experimenting with the cat? You should know better than that. I prefer to experiment at night when you're asleep.

SPEAKER_01

Oh.

SPEAKER_00

What is the cat doing to you while you're sleeping? Okay. This is much more fun. You are a foggy human, but you are my human. With tolerance, you're a super mischievous cat.

SPEAKER_03

Makes sense.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. I'm a little uh concerned about the experimenting part. Yeah. That doesn't sound great. No. But yeah, that's I guess that's what cats do.

SPEAKER_03

That's why I close my door.

SPEAKER_00

Oh yeah, so the cats don't experiment on you at night. Which apparently is a lot of fun.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Alright. Well, that was that. I hope that this episode has been enough for everyone involved.

SPEAKER_03

For me at least.

SPEAKER_00

And me and hopefully the listener is done listening. Yeah. So I'm gonna try something new today. Okay. Which kind of makes more sense to me. As we near the end of this episode, please tell me what is ruining your life currently.

SPEAKER_03

The thing that is ruining my life a little bit is that um Is it me? No, it's it's the shift at uh work, you know, when going from uh evening to day. Uh-huh. That's the worst because I'm so tired during the days when worked one week evening. Cause it uh I mean this sleep cycle It gets messed up.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Yeah. No, I get that. Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

So that's what's ruining my life. But it's gonna be better next week.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, because you're working evening.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. Yeah. What's ruining your life though?

SPEAKER_00

Oh my goodness. I have things to say. Okay. Alright. My life is being ruined.

SPEAKER_03

Is it me?

SPEAKER_00

It's you. No. Okay. It's not just you. It's other people too. I I need to talk about something that is ruining my life. Because I am a person who overthinks and that ruins my life. That is not what I uh I really want to talk about here though.

SPEAKER_01

Okay.

SPEAKER_00

There was an incident at kids' gymnastics on Thursday. Okay?

SPEAKER_01

Okay.

SPEAKER_00

We were doing something that we call chaos when we combine two of the groups and just let everyone run wild and do what they want to do. Okay? So I am dealing with kids who I'm not familiar with. I mean, that's not a problem. I've never really had a problem with new kids.

SPEAKER_01

No.

SPEAKER_00

But um the thing is that there was an incident in which I was spotting some kids on a piece of equipment in which uh they could just roll on it. They didn't need to jump up onto it in order to roll over. Uh, because we were working on forward rolls uh at my specific station at that moment. So I have one girl, she jumps up, and I I think that I'm being playful, okay? Like, no, no, no, no, no, no. And I push her, or I don't push her. Okay, hold on. I roll her back down. I didn't hit her, I smacked her. No hopping. No, okay. So I rolled her back down, and I'm like, you know, I'm playful. Like, no, no, no, no, no. You don't have to hop. You just lay on there and I will help you roll. And so we tried again. She laid on the thing and she rolled and you know, she did her forward roll and she got up and she ran off and she was crying. And I was like, hold on, wait, what did I do? You know, like what happened here? Because I didn't see anything.

SPEAKER_01

No.

SPEAKER_00

And there was a parent next to me who was with her child, and she's like, You just have to speak to kids in a certain way. And I was like, was I mean to her? Did I do something wrong?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Okay.

SPEAKER_00

And I don't think that I am speaking to the kids in a mean way at all.

SPEAKER_01

No.

Closing And Socials

SPEAKER_00

I'm playful and I I pretend that, like, oh no, you're not supposed to do that, you know. Um, I I pretend that I'm telling them off. I'm not actually telling them off. And a lot of my gymnasts in my group, they get that. But um the other group that was with us are smaller kids. They're like a couple years younger. So maybe they take it a different way. I don't know. But this comment got me overthinking. I was like, what? What did I do? So I felt really bad after that. I was like, I'm awful at this. I don't know what I'm doing. Like, I I can't deal with kids. I'm a terrible mom, I'm a terrible leader, and I can't do anything right. And so I texted, because I know um the girl's mom who was crying. Yeah. So I texted her later and I'm like, I don't know what I did, but I'm really sorry. And she was like, you don't have to, because apparently the girl hit her nose while she was rolling. And that kind of hurts. So what's ruining my life in a roundabout way, what is ruining my life is this parent. Specifically in this very moment, who had to make a comment that was completely unnecessary. It wasn't even the problem how I was speaking, it was the fact that she hurt herself and didn't tell me, but she ran off to her dad and cried. That was a lot.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

My point is, I think that parent is stupid. That parent first first of all needs to mind her own business. Also, I don't believe that I'm bad at what I do.

SPEAKER_01

No.

SPEAKER_00

I know that my gymnasts love me, and so do my kids. Yeah, yes. I do. They have to. I mean, I maybe I lead my gymnasts in a way that is not common in this country, or maybe it's just the area. Because there's a lot of soft parents out here, and I'm a little bit harder. And I'm a little bit tougher on my gymnasts, and I think we need that. Yeah. And some other parents agree with me.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, I feel like um a lot of kids these days are getting too sort of they get what they want when they want it. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

And it is a problem.

SPEAKER_03

It is.

SPEAKER_00

Because it makes them expect that that's how it's gonna be for the rest of their lives. That's just not how it is.

SPEAKER_01

No.

SPEAKER_00

Also, I'm not gonna stop just because this one parent thinks that she can stick her nose in my business. No. Anyway, that's that.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Also, I have a cold.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, that's that too. And it makes me feel a little bit better that you hate that parent more than me. So that's that's good.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Are you out of sips? Can we be done? I I want to be out of sips because this is disgusting.

SPEAKER_03

Okay.

SPEAKER_00

Okay. I'm out of sips.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, we're all out of sips, so that m means we're all out of episode. And you're looking at your hand.

SPEAKER_00

Because it's weird.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00
