Cold Coffee Banter & Setup
SPEAKER_02In a world where everything is unscripted, this is roasty, toasty, roast.
SPEAKER_03Sounds like good.
SPEAKER_00Sounds like good. Well if you have nothing more exciting to say than whatever I'm talking about right now, then maybe we should get going with this.
SPEAKER_03Maybe we should.
SPEAKER_00Would you like to open this up?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, let's start this.
SPEAKER_00You can open it up then.
SPEAKER_03Yummy.
SPEAKER_00Uh coffee.
SPEAKER_03Cold.
SPEAKER_00Cold coffee, yes. Hello, and welcome to Roasty Toasty Ghosty. Stop it. My name is Lauren.
SPEAKER_03And I'm Matias.
SPEAKER_00And we are going to be your besties for the next hour or so.
SPEAKER_03Yes.
SPEAKER_00Yes.
SPEAKER_03Yes, ma'am.
SPEAKER_00Thank you. Welcome to the podcast in which you will learn nothing at all. We're gonna make that a thing. Yeah. I think. That's a new line that we've added to the script that no one's written down.
SPEAKER_03No. We don't write things down.
SPEAKER_00No, we don't, and it's partially a problem.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, it's kind of annoying.
SPEAKER_00It's a lot of good ideas just being flushed down the toilet.
SPEAKER_03Yep. And I yeah.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, you.
SPEAKER_03I yeah.
SPEAKER_00Basically, yeah, you.
SPEAKER_03I was thinking last week when we went through the the store and I came up with a really good insult. I'm like, I should write this this down. And then we didn't keep a list of isn't insults you can but no.
SPEAKER_00It's gone now.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, it's gone.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Gone, gone, gone.
SPEAKER_00But yes. Yes. You're here.
SPEAKER_03I am.
SPEAKER_00That's cool. I like that. How are you doing since you're here?
SPEAKER_03Since I'm here, I'm good.
SPEAKER_00Okay.
SPEAKER_03How are you doing since you're here?
SPEAKER_00I'm I'm okay. I I have a cold. Again. Guess who got me sick?
SPEAKER_03Hmm. Can it be sick child?
SPEAKER_00It was definitely sick child. Sick child, uh, among the other children that I have produced. Own was what I was gonna say, but that sounded bad. Like uh I own child slaves or something. The other children that I have, they all have a fall vacation, I guess. Uh a week of no school.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00And Sick Child was uh well, I mean, he didn't have the worst timing because he started getting a cold at the beginning of the vacation. So I mean, good for him for planning things out so nicely. Not so cool that he had to drag me down with him. No, that's not it wasn't really appreciated. Sometimes I can get away with uh not getting sick when the others get sick.
SPEAKER_03That's the best kind of way.
SPEAKER_00That's how I'm I'm doing. I'm not feeling great.
SPEAKER_03So uh this uh fall vacation, have they fallen much?
SPEAKER_00No, they don't move enough to fall.
SPEAKER_03Uh huh.
SPEAKER_00Because kids nowadays they lay around and stare at their phones or they are stuck in a chair staring at a computer.
SPEAKER_03So they it's kind of a slow fall if they if they're gonna fall, it's gonna be slow.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Pretty much. I I don't believe any of them have actually fallen.
SPEAKER_03No. Okay. Missed opportunity.
SPEAKER_00I guess so. It's not too late.
SPEAKER_03No.
SPEAKER_00We still have like the rest of today and tomorrow.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, tomorrow.
SPEAKER_00Tomorrow, and then school starts again.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Then they can fall. Well, it's still falls. It's still falls.
SPEAKER_00But it's not vacation. It's been a vacation from falling. Oh, okay. I think is what it actually means.
SPEAKER_01Okay.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. So they take a break from falling for a week, and then next week they go back to school and they can fall as much as they want to. Yeah. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Makes sense.
SPEAKER_00I think so.
SPEAKER_03Time to fall again.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Okay. So today is what? Saturday?
SPEAKER_03It is.
SPEAKER_00Still not Friday.
SPEAKER_03It's not.
Sick Kid, Fall Break, And Scheduling
SPEAKER_00We're not doing very good at keeping our schedule.
SPEAKER_03No. Well, no.
SPEAKER_00No.
SPEAKER_03It's.
SPEAKER_00It hasn't been Friday for a few weeks now, I think.
SPEAKER_03No, I think so.
SPEAKER_00Today is Saturday.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, it is.
SPEAKER_00Uh, so we have like a week to talk about. Anything exciting you've been up to?
SPEAKER_03I don't know. What happened on Friday last week? Because we recorded on Thursday.
SPEAKER_00Oh yeah, I had my math test.
SPEAKER_03Oh yeah.
SPEAKER_00My math final, even. Okay, so I went through this thing and I was thinking, yeah, no, I don't think.
SPEAKER_03Okay.
SPEAKER_00I I don't think. Well, no, that was the problem because one of some of the uh problems on the test were like at one point in my life this problem was easy to solve, and right now I'm blinking, and I have no idea.
SPEAKER_03Did you say blinking or blanking?
SPEAKER_00Both. Both. I'm blinking so much. Right now I'm blinking that I can't stop.
SPEAKER_03And that's why I failed. I can think about this problem on blinking.
SPEAKER_00Right. I'm busy blinking. Luckily, I had like three hours to do it, so I spent at least one and a half to like uh yeah, one and a half of those hours blinking. And then I started the tests, and I was like, I don't know what I'm doing because I spent too much time focusing on blinking and not thinking about math. Anyway. Yeah. So a couple of the questions I struggled with because I'm an idiot. Also, there were a couple that I was just yeah, I I didn't feel good uh with the results when I handed it in. I I was like, there's no way I'm passing this.
SPEAKER_01No.
SPEAKER_00I don't I don't think I got a lot of this right.
SPEAKER_01No.
SPEAKER_00One of the questions even was so dumb. I have these dumb mistakes, okay? At least when I was in school growing up, I grew up in the states. In the school in the school. I grew up in the school in the states.
SPEAKER_01Yes.
Math Final Panic And Passing
SPEAKER_00And um, you know, when we separate uh numbers, we separate with commas, right? If you have a thousand, you would separate the one with a comma and then the rest of the zeros. Here in Sweden, at least, the comma can also be a decimal point.
SPEAKER_03Yes.
SPEAKER_00So I had like a a number that was like what fifty-six thousand seven hundred or something. Just random number I'm coming up with. Now to make my point, I had the 56 and then the comma and then the 700, right? And I got that one wrong because I had the comma that was mistaken for a decimal point. Okay, so I think I had the number right.
SPEAKER_03It was just the comma that screwed me up. So you have like uh a dot or what?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, our decimal is the dot. And then the comma is a separator for like thousands, hundreds, and the rest of the number things.
SPEAKER_03Like we said at the beginning of this, you will not learn anything from us.
SPEAKER_00Right. Don't listen to me, because I'm not gonna teach you anything. I did end up passing in the end, if I'm gonna fast forward a bit. Uh I passed. Uh do you remember what I said I had?
SPEAKER_03No.
SPEAKER_00I don't remember. But either way, point is that I passed. Yes. Disappoint dispoint disappointed by the point that uh was not supposed to be made.
SPEAKER_03Disappoint your pasts. No. No, you're not the disappointed that you're past.
SPEAKER_00No, I'm glad. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03But then But it could be better.
SPEAKER_00Right after my final, I immediately started with the next course.
SPEAKER_03Okay.
SPEAKER_00So yeah, I'm gonna try to zoom through the course so that I can hopefully pass it before we take our states trip. Because technically the term ends when we get back.
SPEAKER_01Okay.
SPEAKER_00So I'm gonna be missing a couple weeks. Oh. So I'm gonna try to go as quickly as I possibly can. Yes. That was Friday.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Saturday didn't go to the house.
SPEAKER_00You worked the evening, that's why we didn't record.
SPEAKER_03Oh yeah, that's true. And then Saturday, did we uh see each other?
SPEAKER_00Taught gymnastics.
SPEAKER_03You did?
SPEAKER_00I did.
SPEAKER_03I don't think I went home. We uh met because we met on Sunday, I know.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, we I saw you on Sunday for some reason.
SPEAKER_03We went to the stores.
SPEAKER_00Oh, right. We went shopping.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_00And we looked at Halloween and Christmas decorations.
SPEAKER_03Yes.
SPEAKER_00Uh which was fun. It was nice because we don't really go shopping together that much.
SPEAKER_03No. No, we don't.
SPEAKER_00It's always fun to wander around stores with you.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_00I did all the shopping, you got nothing.
SPEAKER_03I got nothing.
SPEAKER_00Absolutely nothing. We got snacks, maybe, but you didn't get any decorations or anything.
SPEAKER_03No, no. I uh I really just want to look at it. I want to browse.
SPEAKER_00Browse.
SPEAKER_03Browsing.
SPEAKER_00You're a browser.
SPEAKER_03I'm a browser.
SPEAKER_00Browser.
SPEAKER_03You brought me home.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Yep.
SPEAKER_00And then we had the week.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. And I mean I can make my week fairly short because I was working.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Daytime.
SPEAKER_03Daytime.
SPEAKER_00I worked one day during the week. I I had the rest of my Swedish finals this week. I I think it went okay. Yeah. And then what else? I don't know. I haven't really gone to the gym.
SPEAKER_03No. I've been disappointed with my numbers.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I haven't really been checking that much, especially like recently.
SPEAKER_03No.
SPEAKER_00Because Sick Child had a birthday yesterday, which was Friday.
SPEAKER_03Yes.
SPEAKER_00Halloween.
SPEAKER_03Halloween.
SPEAKER_00Was yesterday. I guess we might as well talk about that.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Because I can't think of anything else.
SPEAKER_03No.
SPEAKER_00So yeah, Sick Child turned six. Sixth Child.
SPEAKER_03Sixth Child.
SPEAKER_00His name is Six Child Young.
SPEAKER_03But he is the third child of yours.
Shopping Together And Week Recap
SPEAKER_00Yes, he's the third child who uh turned six. He turned six and he has a tendency to get sick. So, uh we had Fika to celebrate him. Yes. We watched movies. We did. And we went trick-or-treating. We're dead. And we all dressed up as inflatable dinosaurs. Yep. And we ran around town and collected candy and uh nearly died because it was really warm and you can't breathe. And I can't see. And I'm sweating.
SPEAKER_03That was the worst part for me.
SPEAKER_00Breathing.
SPEAKER_03No, can't see.
SPEAKER_00Yes.
SPEAKER_03But I mean I I didn't mind the, you know, red net. Okay. But it was when it fogged up.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_03That was uh just then I couldn't see anything.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I mean mine was fogging up too, so I was like trying to wipe it with my forehead, but my forehead was sweaty because of all the air I'm creating inside. And so I felt like I was just scratching up my forehead because of the seams.
SPEAKER_03Okay. Yeah, I took in my arm and just Well, I had to do that a few times too.
SPEAKER_00But still, and I dressed up warm because I assumed it was cold outside. I didn't realize how warm I was gonna be inside the costume. So I was like super sweaty, and the condensation on the window was annoying, and n nothing was really that good about it, and everyone wanted to go home and no one had fun.
SPEAKER_03So But we got candy. We did get candy, so something good about it.
SPEAKER_00I think there was yeah, that was like the only good thing. And maybe we made a couple people smile.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, we did.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, and I like that part.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. People uh the candy. Yeah, at least one wanted to take a picture of us.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. And then we went to one door in which there was an old lady who opened up the door and she had a whole freaking monologue planned out for us. I don't know what uh I don't know why. Why she had to stand there and talk so slowly and be like, wow, you guys are dressed up so nicely. Hmm.
SPEAKER_03No jokes in this.
SPEAKER_00There was there were no jokes. It wasn't even funny. She was just like, hmm, I wonder if I have anything for you guys. I was like, alright.
SPEAKER_03She's like, Give me the m-wow! Give me the candy. I almost said money.
SPEAKER_00Give me your money. It's like, no, my Diaz. That's not what we're doing here. Oh, you completely misunderstood the assignment.
SPEAKER_02I want to go home.
SPEAKER_00She just wanted money. No, she's just like put on this. I don't I I can't even call it a show because I she couldn't have planned it. No. But she did have things planned for uh I mean she had candy like wrapped up nicely in like napkins and gave them to us.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_00And uh so I don't know what the show was about.
SPEAKER_03No. And then when uh she almost wouldn't let us leave either. She's like quit talking, lady.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, and she you didn't have a bag. I didn't and she's like, Oh, but what about that guy over there? And I was like, I can take one for him. She's like, No, you're gonna steal it from him. It's like, excuse me, lady, you don't know me. I can I can share. So I took the bag from her.
SPEAKER_03It sounded like she really knows you.
SPEAKER_00Oh my gosh. She knows my buttons, at least. I was like, that's enough. Give me the bag. I got the bag and I handed it to you, in which you put it into my bag.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00So I hope she got kind of happy by seeing that. Like, yes, he got the bag and then I got it back. So, uh gosh. So yeah.
SPEAKER_03We uh It was interesting.
SPEAKER_00It was interesting. Sick Child did not go with us because he was sick. Yeah, uh he wanted to throughout the day. He wanted to go with us, and then he heard it might be kind of cold outside. And he was like, nah, I'll stay home.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00So he stayed home with my life partner, and I think they both were happy because I think that's what they both wanted in the end, really, in the long run.
SPEAKER_03And it's funny that um we did costume changes at the last minute.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, we all got what we wanted in the end. Because uh my oldest was a Spinosaurus, my daughter was a pink T-Rex, my life partner was going to be a triceratops, yeah, but you got the triceratops.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I won.
SPEAKER_00You were the Velociraptor, but the Velociraptor was too small for you, really. And I wanted the Velociraptor, so I got the Velociraptor, and my daughter had a friend with us, and so I was like, You get to be my costume, which was a pterodactyl. Yeah. She's like, okay. She was like really awkward about it. The friend had to go home in the middle, pretty much, of the trick-or-treating. So um, my oldest had a friend who had just gotten home from trick-or-treating and wanted to go with us.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, and we were at their place when she got the call the to go home. Go home.
Halloween: Dino Costumes And Trick-Or-Treating
SPEAKER_00Yeah. So it was like, okay, well, we have an extra costume. You can put this on. And he was like, heck yeah, I want to put that on. So he put on the costume and he went trick-or-treating again with us this time. So I think it all worked out in the end. Both the older kids got to hang out with a friend.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Uh, pterodactyl friend. And I think we all looked so funny walking around.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Yeah, that's true.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. That was our Halloween. And then we went home and watched another movie and ate all the candy. It's all gone.
SPEAKER_03Yep.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Uh anything else?
SPEAKER_03No. Should we talk about the movies?
SPEAKER_00Maybe we should talk about the movies. Because we did watch movies yesterday.
SPEAKER_03Oh, we did.
SPEAKER_00Two of them.
SPEAKER_03Oh yeah.
SPEAKER_00Even. Uh so would you like to move beyond?
SPEAKER_03Let's move on.
SPEAKER_00Alright. So yesterday we watched Signs. And then we watched Eight Mile.
SPEAKER_03Yes.
SPEAKER_00Eight Mile.
SPEAKER_03The Eight Mile. No, I'm not.
SPEAKER_00No, it's not the Eight Mile. It's one eight mile.
SPEAKER_03Eighteen mile?
SPEAKER_00No. Eight mile. Yeah, okay. So I'm gonna start by telling you about signs. Signs. Okay. Excuse me.
SPEAKER_03It's okay. I'm you're crying?
SPEAKER_00Nose. I'm nosy. Excuse me. I'm nosy.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Um, my nose is being a nose. And it's annoying. Nose is crying. My nose is crying. No, it's um the opposite. It's stuck. Okay. My nose is stuck on my face. It's not great.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, you're trying to take it off, but Oh, that would be great.
SPEAKER_00You know, how great would it be if we all were Lego pieces or made out of Lego pieces and like just could pop off my nose and replace it with a functioning nose and legs. Not where the nose goes, but where the leg goes.
SPEAKER_02A leg as a big thing.
SPEAKER_00Signs. Yes. Is a movie with Mel Gibson. Yes. Cool. Also, uh Macaulay Colkin's brother. Yep. That's his name.
SPEAKER_03Rory.
SPEAKER_00Rory. What kind of name is Rory? He's not a lion.
SPEAKER_03I think he won an Oscar this year, actually.
SPEAKER_00He's still alive, yes. He's still alive. He's still doing things. Yeah. Okay. That's cool. What did he do?
SPEAKER_03He did a movie with uh Jesse Isenberg.
SPEAKER_00Oh, he's Aaron. No. Aaron's name is Aaron. Not Jesse. From Breaking Bad.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Uh Jesse Eisenhower Berg.
SPEAKER_03Eisenberg. Okay. Who? Uh he's in Sombaland movies.
SPEAKER_00Oh.
SPEAKER_03The curly haired guy.
SPEAKER_00See the cowboy? No.
SPEAKER_03No, no?
SPEAKER_00No, he's the nerd.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, the nerd guy.
SPEAKER_00Who's The Cowboy? Yeah, actually.
SPEAKER_03Woody Harrelson.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I I know him.
SPEAKER_03Okay. Um So I didn't have to tell you that.
SPEAKER_00No. I'm quizzing you. Um, I was thinking about Michael. Yeah. Michael. Not Scott, because he's from the office. Okay. He's a character even. Yeah. Michael Michael Sarah. Sarah, yeah. Yeah, he's he's also curly haired. Yeah, but he's some.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_00At the end, maybe it curled a little bit.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. They are kind of similar.
SPEAKER_00They're the same person.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Oh. Some people think so.
SPEAKER_00Some people would say they're the same person.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Um, but they're not. No. No. One was in Zombie Land. The other one was not. And I thought he was.
SPEAKER_03Jesse Eisenberg is in uh Now You See Me, the movie. Now you see me.
SPEAKER_00Like that's random. Yeah. Now you see me. Like, yes, I've been looking at you this whole time.
SPEAKER_03You were saying that when we walked in.
SPEAKER_00Now you see me.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Now you don't, I said.
SPEAKER_00Oh.
SPEAKER_03But uh yeah.
SPEAKER_00This is an interesting story.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Okay, let's talk about science.
SPEAKER_00This is a movie. Um with aliens. Yes. And uh Mel Gibson has two children, one who is not Macaulay Hulkin, but his brother. Nobody knows him. No.
SPEAKER_03Um but he won an Oscar.
SPEAKER_00He won an Oscar with Jesse Eisenberg. Yeah. Okay. Um also there's a girl who's Meg, right?
SPEAKER_03Maggie.
SPEAKER_00Maggie. Not Mel Gidson. Um, and not Maggie either, but Maggie. Uh from the zombie movie. Yeah. Not Zombieland.
SPEAKER_03No. But she's another zombie movie.
SPEAKER_00With Arnold Schwarzenegger. Yeah. Not a great movie. No. Um, definitely on the bottom of the list. Oh yeah. At the very bottom under the list. We never made it. It's not even on the list. No. It's under the list.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. We never made a top or bottom list to Schwarzenegger movies. No. Maybe we should do that one day.
SPEAKER_00We didn't do that at the time.
SPEAKER_03No, we didn't have a podcast at the time.
SPEAKER_00That's true. That's also a problem. That uh that that answers that question as to why. Um anyway. Uh so Melanie Gibson has two kids and a brother.
SPEAKER_03And Joaquin Phoenix. And he also won an Oscar. Oh. A few years.
SPEAKER_00For zombies?
SPEAKER_03No, he was Joker.
SPEAKER_00Ah, a different kind of zombie.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Okay. He was the Joker.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. In the movie Joker. Not the one with uh Bjorn Riffs.
SPEAKER_00Not the one with Keith Ledger.
SPEAKER_03No. He was another Joker, but he also won Oscar. Good luck with the editing this.
SPEAKER_00This is the best the best episode ever. Okay. Okay. Because we're talking about everything except for what we're supposed to be talking about. Science. Which is somewhat everything is Okay, uh sure, I hear you. But in a way, everything is connected. Okay? Because we've got jokers and zombies and aliens, and we're Halloween. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03You can't butt the ding.
SPEAKER_00I hear you, but hear me out. Everything is related. Okay? I'm not really that sidetracked. Okay. Which brings me to the other thing about uh other things, but I'll talk about that later. So there's aliens, and uh Melagibson is scared, and so is everyone else, and the aliens are attacking, which is kind of cool. Yeah. It's kinda scary. It's a thriller, at least it's got sh it's got suspense.
SPEAKER_03It kind of builds.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_03It's a building movie.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_03It's not like Minecraft. Yeah, it's Minecraft.
Movie Night: Signs Review
SPEAKER_00It's Minecraft the movie. Also, there's aliens. Yeah. No, uh it was uh aliens and stuff. It was not so much like visually scary. It's more like oh the cinematics in this one uh was good because you don't really have to see what's going on, but you can feel like the suspense.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Like something outside is happening. You can't really see it.
SPEAKER_03No.
SPEAKER_00But you know it's there. Yeah. And not knowing what's gonna happen.
SPEAKER_03Sometimes that's the scariest part, what you don't see.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, that's why people are afraid of the dark.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_00I mean, I get it.
SPEAKER_03You like the movie?
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Yeah. I I think so. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03It's it's funny. You you do like the M Night Chamalan movies.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. I guess I do.
SPEAKER_03You also like the ones with Bruce Willis. Yeah. At least the splits, uh, unbreakable.
SPEAKER_00I think it's kind of funny that the director is in the movies.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_00That's kind of a fun tidbit. Yeah. He's not in there for very long, but he is there.
SPEAKER_03Mm-hmm. And this one he has uh a fairly significant role. When you think about I mean, he he hurt the family, but in an accident.
SPEAKER_00It was an accident.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Oh, there was another thing that I wanted to bring up because I thought it was kinda weird.
SPEAKER_01Okay.
SPEAKER_00That um, you know, there was a uh I guess it's a kind of a spoiler. But this movie's from 2002. Yeah. It's like 20 years old. Yeah. Over 20 years old. So the mom died in the car accident caused by this guy who fell asleep by the wheel. And when she died, she said it was meant to be, right?
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00And then the guy who killed her also said it was meant to be. So why did they both say that?
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Like, did they both want this?
SPEAKER_03Did they talk to each other?
SPEAKER_00Were they Was it planned? It might have been. And then, like, how could they both have the same point of view? Like, this was meant to happen.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Cause there's no way that, like, if you get hit by a car, your first thought isn't really, oh well, I guess this is just what was supposed to happen.
SPEAKER_03No, and I I think, isn't it a bit weird when you're talking to someone uh who was close to the person you accidentally killed and said it was meant to be.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Like I meant to kill her.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Yeah. You know.
SPEAKER_00I don't know. I thought it was a little weird. Yeah. That part.
SPEAKER_03It it's a weird phrasing and it's yeah, when you think about it.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. I mean, I kinda understand like following the universe and just like, you know, if something happens, then yeah, I guess that was just supposed to happen in my story.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, and like I associate the phrase meant to be with something positive.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_03This wasn't positive, I think.
SPEAKER_00I don't think so. So I have a feeling it it must have been planned in some way.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Maybe.
SPEAKER_00Because there's no way they both would have said the same line. No. Not in a realistic uh scenario.
SPEAKER_03No. But I agree. It's kind of weird. One thing I also like with this movie is the comedy. It has several uh points in the The brother was funny. He was funny. I like the girl who was like confessing to Mel Gibson in the store.
SPEAKER_00He's not even a reverend anymore. She's like, okay, yeah, but hear me out. I have confessions to make. Yeah. Like, oh, alright.
SPEAKER_03And she kept uh count on how many times she swore everything.
SPEAKER_00Uh yeah, that was kind of funny.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. And also like when when they were talking about uh the alien on the roof at the beginning.
SPEAKER_00It was dark.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, it was dark. And then uh uh the policewoman said something about yeah, but there are uh Scandinavian women Olympic. Then they're like, okay, but if it wasn't a Scandinavian Olympic woman.
SPEAKER_00It was funny.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_00But it was really good. What did you think about the movie?
SPEAKER_03I do like this one. It's a little bit slow, but like we said, it builds. Yeah. So it has this eerie feeling to it. It is good. And I think it was a fairly good choice for a Halloween movie.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Which brings us to the next movie that was also uh Halloween.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, maybe Maybe not as Halloween-y. No. But okay, that was Eight Mile.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_03And uh that movie stars Eminem or as our friend says Enema.
SPEAKER_00Uh yeah. I believe his name is Marshall Manners.
SPEAKER_03Yes, I believe so too.
SPEAKER_00Uh also known as Slim Shady.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
Movie Night: Eight Mile Chat
SPEAKER_00But he's the real Slim Shady. Because a lot of people would also think that they're Slim Shady, but they're not, because he's the real Slim Shady. Oh, okay. Eminem.
SPEAKER_03That's lyrics, I guess, or what? Is it something I'm missing?
SPEAKER_00He's Slim Shady. Uh somewhat. Okay. It's a summary of the lyrics.
SPEAKER_03Okay. But yes, this movie stars Eminem and uh Kim Basinger.
SPEAKER_00Uh-huh.
SPEAKER_03Michael Shannon is in this one too. Anthony Mackey. Am I forgetting someone?
SPEAKER_00I only know Eminem.
SPEAKER_03Okay.
SPEAKER_00He's the only one I know from this movie. Okay. Yeah. Also, one of the other characters might have been in Breaking Bad.
SPEAKER_03Okay.
SPEAKER_00But I didn't really look it up.
SPEAKER_03No. Anthony Mackey. He was the guy who was supposed to rap at the end but didn't.
SPEAKER_00Uh huh.
SPEAKER_03That guy.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_03He's in the Marvel movies nowadays.
SPEAKER_00Oh. So he's not really rapping anywhere.
SPEAKER_03No. He didn't rap in this movie either.
SPEAKER_00No, no, I guess not.
SPEAKER_03Oh, maybe that's a spoiler, by the way, but what is this movie even about? Yeah, it's about Eminem and him his his rapping.
SPEAKER_00Uh-huh.
SPEAKER_03Oh yeah, Brittany Murphy is in this movie too.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Isn't she dead?
SPEAKER_03She's dead. Okay, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Uh is that the the girl?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, the girl.
SPEAKER_00Okay. Very specific.
SPEAKER_03Who slept around.
SPEAKER_00Uh yeah. She's a bad guy. Yeah. Or something.
SPEAKER_03And yeah, he's uh like flipping people off and uh he's uh He's doing things that Eminem does. Yeah, and uh beats people up, I guess. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00For fun, maybe that's true.
SPEAKER_03But he's nice to the kid.
SPEAKER_00Oh yeah, that's important.
SPEAKER_03I like that. Yeah, other than that, he's a troubled young man.
SPEAKER_00So the thing with Eminem, my take on Eminem, okay? You can think what you want. Yeah. I think he's a good guy. He's a good guy, but life is not nice to him as he is to others. You know, that's kind of what I was getting out of it. Yeah. Because he is good to his daughter. Yeah. And just other people are just not nice to him. And his mom was troubled as well.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_00So things could have been better.
SPEAKER_03Yes, definitely.
SPEAKER_00I think he'd be a lot less angry if life was nicer to him.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, that's true.
SPEAKER_00Which I mean, I I think that goes for pretty much anyone.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. What's more to say about the story of this movie?
SPEAKER_00Okay, so the movie is basically the lyrics of Lose Yourself. Lose yourself. Right, because it starts out with him at a rap battle and he chokes. Right. Yeah. And he's basically going through life and trying to make a name for himself and build a good reputation and win rap battles so that he can get money to leave and do better things.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00And he does not lose himself.
SPEAKER_03No. He he wins himself.
SPEAKER_00He wins himself. Yeah. In the end. It's a really good ending. Yeah. I think.
SPEAKER_03It is. What do you think about this movie?
SPEAKER_00You know, I kinda like the movie. I also kinda like Eminem. Okay. But I don't know if that's relevant. It's kind of a rugged movie too. But I like it.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_00What do you think?
SPEAKER_03Uh yeah, I kinda like it too. I don't know much about Eminem. My sister was more of a fan of his. But I do like this movie. I have seen it before since my sister was a fan of his. Uh-huh. So yeah, we had it on VHS.
SPEAKER_00Okay.
SPEAKER_03I do like it. It's a way to like understand his character. I think that this movie feels like it's based on his life, but I d I'm not sure. I don't know much about the guy. No. But uh that's how I chose to see it. I feel like it's a pretty good movie.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I enjoyed it.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, and I have to say that I'm not a big rap music fan. I do have to say that Eminem is a good rapper. I do like his style in rapping because some people makes it feel like they're just talking.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_03He actually has a rhythm to it. It sounds good when he does it. And it's not just him. Other people also do that well. But he's one of the ones who can do it well.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Would you want to see him live?
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_00It would be an experience.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_00I've never gone to a rap concert.
SPEAKER_03No, neither have I.
SPEAKER_00It might be on a bucket list.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. We can do it.
SPEAKER_00Just now.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_00I I Right now? Right now. We need to wrap this up so that we can go. Because I already bought his tickets. I was just double checking that you'd be okay with it. So we can go.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, if I had said no, you you need to find someone else.
SPEAKER_00I need to find a another bestie. My bestie needs to be ready for any adventure at any time. Yeah. Like you have to be on your toes.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, that that's why it's good. Be ready for anything. That's why it's good to have me as a bestie, because I don't have much of a life.
SPEAKER_00Exactly. You have nothing else going for you.
SPEAKER_03I'm like, yeah, sure, I can do that.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, let's go.
SPEAKER_03I'm always ready for anything.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. You want to go invade India with me? Alright, let's go.
SPEAKER_03I don't have anything better. No.
SPEAKER_00Just us against India. Let's go. Let's do this. I don't have a plan. No. Let's just go.
SPEAKER_03Let's wing it.
SPEAKER_00Just wing it and see what happens. If we end up in jail, then cool. Let's do that. More adventures. I was just kidding. Alright.
SPEAKER_03Okay.
SPEAKER_00Anything else?
SPEAKER_03No.
SPEAKER_00Then maybe we should take a break.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, let's do that.
SPEAKER_00We will be right back.
SPEAKER_03Right back.
SPEAKER_00I can record my new hit single.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. For Eminem.
SPEAKER_00For Eminem, right. Here's if Eminem is out there, he can uh listen to this and give me some feedback and maybe we can work on something together. Okay. Ready? Okay. Doob doob doop. Boop boop boop. And that's all I got so far.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. But the amazing thing about this is that you came up with it by myself. Yeah. Yeah. In the break.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. I don't need help.
SPEAKER_03It was like that.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. I I'm just I've got talent, I think, and I'm also going to audition for American Idol. In Sweden.
SPEAKER_03They have to come here.
SPEAKER_00They have to come here for one person.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_00I'm an American. I wanna audition for American Idol.
SPEAKER_03Or you could do it in the live.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_03You can film yourself from this office.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. And uh yeah, I can zoom my audition, I think. With my new hit single. Yeah. The original song.
SPEAKER_02Doob doob.
SPEAKER_00Doob doob doop boop boop boop. Doob doop boop boop. Yeah. Yeah. That's all I've got so far. But it's a work in progress.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. This is the audition.
SPEAKER_00Right. Um, I hope that they'll uh they'll say yes to me.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I'm fairly sure.
Quicksand Trivia And Old Films
SPEAKER_00I mean, why wouldn't they? It's already stuck in your head. Yeah. So there's no getting rid of it. Uh we are back, by the way. Um we're we're gonna say it this time. Yeah, we're back.
SPEAKER_03We're back.
SPEAKER_00We are back, and I have some things I have to say. Okay. I have things to get off my chest because they're weighing me down. Yeah, no, I'm gonna talk about some things that we talked about last week. Okay. Last week's episode. Oh we talked about quicksand last week, right? And then I had a whole bunch of fun facts about quicksand that I thought were fun and they also were facts. So the first onset tragedy, right? Film set was in 1914, a movie called Across the Border, in which a horse fell into quicksand and the cameraman and the actress died on set. That was the first time someone died on set.
SPEAKER_03Wow.
SPEAKER_00In 1914.
SPEAKER_03And that was in qu uh quicksand.
SPEAKER_00In quicksand. Wow. It's dangerous, I'm telling you. And I don't know why, but I am so fascinated in like the firsts of like film and stuff. Yeah. Like the first movies and the first uh captured photograph and all those like history things. Really interesting for me.
SPEAKER_03So uh is this movie on the list too?
SPEAKER_00I couldn't find it. It is a lost film.
SPEAKER_03Oh, okay.
SPEAKER_00I wanted to find a clip or something, can't find it. But you can find the first like moving picture online if you Google it.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_00It's a horse.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I've seen it.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I I think I forwarded it to you, right?
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_00I linked it to you. But uh yeah, and like the same thing with the first like quote unquote uh musical was the jazz singer that we watched.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. And we also have other really, really old movies later on in the movie list that I added like last year or something. I don't know. So yeah, uh, Quicksand killed people. Mickey Rooney starred in a film called Quicksand, but I didn't see that much of the movie. I saw a short clip and it was just a girl who was gambling. Yeah, okay. And he was also there.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I've I've seen a movie with Michael Keaton that's called Quicksand.
SPEAKER_00Is it it's not the same movie. Is it a uh a when they remake the movie? Yeah.
SPEAKER_03I I don't know. But this movie is like uh fairly low budget.
SPEAKER_00Okay, is there a sandworm included?
SPEAKER_03No.
SPEAKER_00Okay.
SPEAKER_03But I've seen other movies where with Michael Keaton and sandworms.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah. Um, a couple of them at least.
SPEAKER_03I forgot what they're called.
SPEAKER_00No, that's okay. It's just as well that you don't know the title. My next thing I wanted to bring up was Sloth. He was not in Mad Max 3.
SPEAKER_03No.
SPEAKER_00But he was in Dukes of Hazzard.
SPEAKER_03Okay.
SPEAKER_00Have you seen Dukes of Hazard?
SPEAKER_03I ha uh not the TV show. No. No.
SPEAKER_00Okay. The movie though.
SPEAKER_03Uh I have seen the movie.
SPEAKER_00Okay.
SPEAKER_03But uh I think he died before that movie. He died fairly young, right? Didn't he?
SPEAKER_00Oh, Sloth or the actor who uh played in Mad Max III.
SPEAKER_03Oh, Sloth, I was Okay. Oh, you were talking about this guy. Um Mad Max III guy.
SPEAKER_00Oh no, Sloth was in Dukes of Hazard. Right, right. Yes. But he died early.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, um I think so. Or like in the 90s or so. Okay. Isn't his name like John something?
SPEAKER_00Maybe it was John. Maybe we can settle with his name was John.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, let's call him John.
SPEAKER_00Some people also call him Sloth.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_00But that's all I had. I thought it was kind of interesting tidbits and things that should have been mentioned on the episode that were not.
Mad Libs: Cats, Horror, And Chaos
SPEAKER_03Yeah, you you um texted me this.
SPEAKER_00I did.
SPEAKER_03And you said that you were gonna throw some things at me, and I'm I'm like, are you gonna throw objects at me next time you see me?
SPEAKER_00No, no, no, no. I was throwing facts at you.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. It it took me a while.
SPEAKER_00Uh yeah, I I noticed that. Okay. So this next part uh of the episode, we are going to do mad libs.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Okay.
SPEAKER_01Okay.
SPEAKER_00Let's do a couple mad libs just to keep this pretty quick and equally entertaining. I'm gonna start off with an adjective.
SPEAKER_03Eerie.
SPEAKER_00Halloween words.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Very exciting.
SPEAKER_03Noun ghosts.
SPEAKER_00Ghost. Adjective. Spooky. Ooh. This is how I'm gonna respond to all the words. Ooh. Adjective. Scary. Scary. Another adjective.
SPEAKER_03Dark.
SPEAKER_00Dark. Part of the body. Dark. Dark. Part of the body, a plural.
SPEAKER_03What's the scariest part of the body?
SPEAKER_00The dark ones.
SPEAKER_03But I can't use the darkest ones.
SPEAKER_00No. Uh I don't know. Like organs, maybe.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Organs are scary.
SPEAKER_00Oh yeah, there you go. Zombies. Ooh. Noun.
SPEAKER_03Skeleton.
SPEAKER_00There you go.
SPEAKER_03That that's also part of the body.
SPEAKER_00I'd uh verb and that one's never been used.
SPEAKER_01No.
SPEAKER_00Ver skeleton ending in ing. Because that's what I was saying. Verb also could be something people could say.
SPEAKER_03Rattling.
SPEAKER_00Rattling. Okay.
SPEAKER_03Rattling.
SPEAKER_00Noun.
SPEAKER_03Zombie.
SPEAKER_00Okay. Animal?
SPEAKER_03Bat.
SPEAKER_00Alright. Noun. Ooh. Just gonna be ghosties this whole time. Ooh. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03I already used ghosts, so a different noun. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Like a hedgehog. Those are scary. They're little spike balls.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, you can use that.
SPEAKER_00Okay. Hedgehog. Scary.
SPEAKER_02Horror. Is that what sh horror or horror horror? Horror. Horror. Horror. I'm like a dog. How is that a noun?
SPEAKER_03Isn't it?
SPEAKER_00Okay. Another noun. I feel like I'm not the only one struggling here.
SPEAKER_03Another noun. Scary noun.
SPEAKER_00That's your noun, scary noun. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Alien.
SPEAKER_00That's a good idea. Uh a good one. Yeah. Ooh, aliens.
SPEAKER_03I just thought about the movie I recently watched.
SPEAKER_00Was it aliens?
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Okay. Adjective?
SPEAKER_03Adjective. Windy.
SPEAKER_00Ooh. Adverb.
SPEAKER_03Oh, adverb. Frightfully.
SPEAKER_00Okay. Adjective.
SPEAKER_03Dangerous.
SPEAKER_00Oh, yeah. That's a good one. Okay, so this story uh is very Halloween themed because it's dogs versus cats.
SPEAKER_03Oh.
SPEAKER_00And sometimes people are scared of dogs versus cats. And cats. So yeah, here we go. If you've ever owned both dogs and cats, you know that the differences between the two species are eerie. They are like knights and ghost. The argument about which pet is more spooky will continue until the end of time. Assuming you're scared of both.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00The argument about which pet is more spooky will continue until the end of time. But it's easy to see why cats are scary. For instance, cats won't embarrass you in front of your guests by parading around with your dark underwear in their brains. Ugh, cats. Cats are also funnier than dogs. Why do they have your underwear in their brains? That's just I'm stuck there. Okay. Uh cats are also funnier than dogs, even if they don't know it. And they don't give a skeleton if you laugh at them. Okay. Because they are too busy rattling their revenge. Like rattlesnakes. But they're cats. But if you put a rattle at the end of their tail. Tail tail.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_00They're a rattlesnake. Have you ever done that?
SPEAKER_03Rattle cat.
SPEAKER_00Rattle cat. Rattlecat.
SPEAKER_03I have not. Okay. Yet. That's I'm gonna fix that.
SPEAKER_00That's on you. Yeah. That was your mistake.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I have to fix that.
SPEAKER_00You do. Or something. Cats are natural zombie repellents. No spider, fly, or bat stands a chance if there's a cat in the horror. Horror. Horror.
SPEAKER_02Horror.
SPEAKER_00Horror. Horror. That's a dog. Cats have no interest in being hooked up to an alien and going for a walk. Because you're the alien. And apparently they look like people.
SPEAKER_03They don't want to be hooked up with an alien.
SPEAKER_00No. You they'd rather curl up and take a windy nap. I wanna know what that means.
SPEAKER_03I I had windy naps.
SPEAKER_00Have you had windy naps?
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Okay. I'm not sure I want to know.
SPEAKER_03No, I'm not gonna tell you.
SPEAKER_00Don't tell me please. And it's frightfully proven that cat owners are smarter and more dangerous than dog owners. So go get yourself a cat.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. If you want to feel dangerous.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, living on the edge. Got myself a cat. See what happens. Here is this and also a pencil so that you can write words.
SPEAKER_03Adjective.
SPEAKER_00Unknown.
SPEAKER_03Mmm. Yeah. Noun.
SPEAKER_00Spike ball.
SPEAKER_03Spike ball.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Verb.
SPEAKER_00To sneak. Like being sneaky. Lurkin.
SPEAKER_03Noun?
SPEAKER_00Monster. You didn't say that, did you?
SPEAKER_03No.
SPEAKER_00Okay.
SPEAKER_03I saw the the horror in your voice.
What’s Ruining Our Lives
SPEAKER_00The horror. Horror. Horror. Blah.
SPEAKER_03Type of liquid.
SPEAKER_00Blood. That was uncalled for.
SPEAKER_03I thought that was scary.
SPEAKER_00Coffee?
SPEAKER_03Cold coffee. Blood. Okay.
SPEAKER_00I don't know why I said that was uncalled for. That was not at all what I meant to say. I don't even know what I was supposed to say, but that wasn't it.
SPEAKER_03Okay.
SPEAKER_00Okay.
SPEAKER_03Verb ending in ing.
SPEAKER_00Lurking. Also sneaky, but lurky instead.
SPEAKER_03Person. Female.
SPEAKER_00Oh, that's me. No, we're gonna use uh Medusa. Because she's scary.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Also, Madonna could have been a word. Yeah, she's also scary. She's also scary.
SPEAKER_03She tried to kill uh weird owl.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah. She also was in Argentina once. So that's kind of scary.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. True. Of course. Verb.
SPEAKER_00Experimenting. Like a mad scientist kind of guy.
SPEAKER_03Experiment.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Could be scary if it goes wrong.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Adjective and adjective.
SPEAKER_00Okay. Foggy. Also. Mischievous.
SPEAKER_03Mischievous. How do you spell it?
SPEAKER_00C H I E voos.
SPEAKER_03V-U-S.
SPEAKER_00O U S. Okay. Mischievous.
SPEAKER_03Okay.
SPEAKER_00Whatever you wrote, that's right.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Oh, is that it?
SPEAKER_03That's it.
SPEAKER_00Alright. I get to write right write this one now.
SPEAKER_03No, you you get to read it though. I wrote it.
SPEAKER_00I get to write this one. It's my story. Okay. I'm gonna read your story. This one is called My House, My Rules.
SPEAKER_01Okay.
SPEAKER_00Unknown Servant. Whoever you are, this is to you. It's quite obvious that you think you control me, but we all know that I am in charge of this spike ball. Also known as a hedgehog.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Uh I'm in control of it.
SPEAKER_00I control this hedgehog. You think I am just a simple cat, but I am able to out sneak you any day of the week.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, that's true.
SPEAKER_00That's true. I have tried to sneak. Cats are always better at sneaking than I am. Yeah. Yeah. Please be aware that your house is actually mine. And I am not to be disturbed if I happen to be sleeping on your bed or favorite piece of monster. This piece of monster is mine.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I'm sleeping on it.
SPEAKER_00I will scratch any piece of monster I want. I do not want to drink blood from an ordinary bowl. I prefer to lap water from a lurking faucet or a toilet. This faucet is also sneaky.
SPEAKER_03So why why uh why did you start with saying blood and then continue with water?
SPEAKER_00Because I don't want to drink blood. I want water.
SPEAKER_03Okay, yeah.
SPEAKER_00So please remember to leave the toilet seat up. I don't care what Medusa has to say about that. Don't try to get me to experiment during the day. What are we experimenting with the cat? You should know better than that. I prefer to experiment at night when you're asleep.
SPEAKER_01Oh.
SPEAKER_00What is the cat doing to you while you're sleeping? Okay. This is much more fun. You are a foggy human, but you are my human. With tolerance, you're a super mischievous cat.
SPEAKER_03Makes sense.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. I'm a little uh concerned about the experimenting part. Yeah. That doesn't sound great. No. But yeah, that's I guess that's what cats do.
SPEAKER_03That's why I close my door.
SPEAKER_00Oh yeah, so the cats don't experiment on you at night. Which apparently is a lot of fun.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Alright. Well, that was that. I hope that this episode has been enough for everyone involved.
SPEAKER_03For me at least.
SPEAKER_00And me and hopefully the listener is done listening. Yeah. So I'm gonna try something new today. Okay. Which kind of makes more sense to me. As we near the end of this episode, please tell me what is ruining your life currently.
SPEAKER_03The thing that is ruining my life a little bit is that um Is it me? No, it's it's the shift at uh work, you know, when going from uh evening to day. Uh-huh. That's the worst because I'm so tired during the days when worked one week evening. Cause it uh I mean this sleep cycle It gets messed up.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Yeah. No, I get that. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03So that's what's ruining my life. But it's gonna be better next week.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, because you're working evening.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Yeah. What's ruining your life though?
SPEAKER_00Oh my goodness. I have things to say. Okay. Alright. My life is being ruined.
SPEAKER_03Is it me?
SPEAKER_00It's you. No. Okay. It's not just you. It's other people too. I I need to talk about something that is ruining my life. Because I am a person who overthinks and that ruins my life. That is not what I uh I really want to talk about here though.
SPEAKER_01Okay.
SPEAKER_00There was an incident at kids' gymnastics on Thursday. Okay?
SPEAKER_01Okay.
SPEAKER_00We were doing something that we call chaos when we combine two of the groups and just let everyone run wild and do what they want to do. Okay? So I am dealing with kids who I'm not familiar with. I mean, that's not a problem. I've never really had a problem with new kids.
SPEAKER_01No.
SPEAKER_00But um the thing is that there was an incident in which I was spotting some kids on a piece of equipment in which uh they could just roll on it. They didn't need to jump up onto it in order to roll over. Uh, because we were working on forward rolls uh at my specific station at that moment. So I have one girl, she jumps up, and I I think that I'm being playful, okay? Like, no, no, no, no, no, no. And I push her, or I don't push her. Okay, hold on. I roll her back down. I didn't hit her, I smacked her. No hopping. No, okay. So I rolled her back down, and I'm like, you know, I'm playful. Like, no, no, no, no, no. You don't have to hop. You just lay on there and I will help you roll. And so we tried again. She laid on the thing and she rolled and you know, she did her forward roll and she got up and she ran off and she was crying. And I was like, hold on, wait, what did I do? You know, like what happened here? Because I didn't see anything.
SPEAKER_01No.
SPEAKER_00And there was a parent next to me who was with her child, and she's like, You just have to speak to kids in a certain way. And I was like, was I mean to her? Did I do something wrong?
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Okay.
SPEAKER_00And I don't think that I am speaking to the kids in a mean way at all.
SPEAKER_01No.
Closing And Socials
SPEAKER_00I'm playful and I I pretend that, like, oh no, you're not supposed to do that, you know. Um, I I pretend that I'm telling them off. I'm not actually telling them off. And a lot of my gymnasts in my group, they get that. But um the other group that was with us are smaller kids. They're like a couple years younger. So maybe they take it a different way. I don't know. But this comment got me overthinking. I was like, what? What did I do? So I felt really bad after that. I was like, I'm awful at this. I don't know what I'm doing. Like, I I can't deal with kids. I'm a terrible mom, I'm a terrible leader, and I can't do anything right. And so I texted, because I know um the girl's mom who was crying. Yeah. So I texted her later and I'm like, I don't know what I did, but I'm really sorry. And she was like, you don't have to, because apparently the girl hit her nose while she was rolling. And that kind of hurts. So what's ruining my life in a roundabout way, what is ruining my life is this parent. Specifically in this very moment, who had to make a comment that was completely unnecessary. It wasn't even the problem how I was speaking, it was the fact that she hurt herself and didn't tell me, but she ran off to her dad and cried. That was a lot.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_00My point is, I think that parent is stupid. That parent first first of all needs to mind her own business. Also, I don't believe that I'm bad at what I do.
SPEAKER_01No.
SPEAKER_00I know that my gymnasts love me, and so do my kids. Yeah, yes. I do. They have to. I mean, I maybe I lead my gymnasts in a way that is not common in this country, or maybe it's just the area. Because there's a lot of soft parents out here, and I'm a little bit harder. And I'm a little bit tougher on my gymnasts, and I think we need that. Yeah. And some other parents agree with me.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I feel like um a lot of kids these days are getting too sort of they get what they want when they want it. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00And it is a problem.
SPEAKER_03It is.
SPEAKER_00Because it makes them expect that that's how it's gonna be for the rest of their lives. That's just not how it is.
SPEAKER_01No.
SPEAKER_00Also, I'm not gonna stop just because this one parent thinks that she can stick her nose in my business. No. Anyway, that's that.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Also, I have a cold.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, that's that too. And it makes me feel a little bit better that you hate that parent more than me. So that's that's good.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Are you out of sips? Can we be done? I I want to be out of sips because this is disgusting.
SPEAKER_03Okay.
SPEAKER_00Okay. I'm out of sips.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, we're all out of sips, so that m means we're all out of episode. And you're looking at your hand.
SPEAKER_00Because it's weird.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Um, yes, we're all out of episode, so would you like to wrap this up?
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Sounds like a good idea.
SPEAKER_00That is the best idea I've had all day.
SPEAKER_03I think so too.
