SPEAKER_00

In a world where everything is unscripted, this is roasty, toasty, roasty.

SPEAKER_03

And now it's time to meditate.

SPEAKER_00

Okay, for an hour or so.

SPEAKER_03

Let's um let's have a yoga pass now.

SPEAKER_01

Okay.

SPEAKER_03

And it'll just be chill. We're turning off the lights because it's too bright and it's freaking warm in here. It is. So we're gonna start by breathing. Okay, and breathe in. Breathing. Breathing. So breathe in. Breathe out.

SPEAKER_00

I'm laughing in and out. Okay.

SPEAKER_03

You're breathing too fast.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Okay.

SPEAKER_03

Last time we spoke a week ago.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, last time we spoke.

SPEAKER_03

We don't speak for an entire week.

SPEAKER_00

No, you know, this is time to speak. Other than that, we're completely silent.

SPEAKER_03

It feels like that, honestly. Because uh pretty much all week it feels like, you know, we say good morning, how you doing? I'm good. Okay. And then it's dead silence until the evening. All right, I'm gonna go to bed now.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Okay.

SPEAKER_03

Okay, good night.

SPEAKER_01

Good night.

SPEAKER_03

And this is the part when I'd like to read our text from the last week.

SPEAKER_00

We we have exciting lives.

SPEAKER_03

March 23rd. This is a Monday. Oh, you okay. Good morning, Matias. Good morning, Lauren. How are you? I'm good. How are you? I'm good. Good. Are you working this week? Uh blah, blah, blah. Cool. I'm sleeping. Gonna shower. Good night, Matias. Good night, Lauren.

SPEAKER_00

Okay. Wait, you didn't answer if you were working? I did. Okay. But that's you said blah blah blah.

SPEAKER_03

I said blah blah blah. I didn't want you to I didn't want to answer. I said blah blah blah.

SPEAKER_00

Okay.

SPEAKER_02

That is that is code for mind your own business. Okay.

SPEAKER_01

Now I know that.

SPEAKER_02

This is private information.

SPEAKER_03

You don't need to know. Okay. Tuesday, March 24th. Good morning, Matias. Good morning, Lauren. How are you? I'm good. How are you? I'm good. Hello. Hi. What's up? Not much. Cool. You? Super cool. Great. Are you high? No. Haha. Okay. Are you? Maybe.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, okay. Which times are you working this week? Blah, blah, blah. Okay, nice. And then I continue with, I'm tired.

SPEAKER_03

Okay. Why are you crying? Because I'm tired. Not good. No. I guess I'll sleep then. You probably should. Okay. Good night, Matias. Good night, Lauren. Okay. Wednesday. Good morning, Lauren. Good morning, Matias. How are you? I'm good. How are you? I'm good. Great. I had a dream. Blah, blah, blah. Very weird. Blah, blah, blah. Blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah. Weird, right? Very weird. Apparently my name is Ida. Blah, blah, blah. Uh-huh. Okay. Okay. Yeah. Blah, it's raining. Still, at least here. Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. I'm waiting for a bus to go home. Great. I fixed the movies. Cool. Are we having movie day on Friday? Yes, please. Okay. I'm home. Awesome. Straight to bed. Okay, good night, Lauren. Good night, Matias. Thursday, March 26th. Good morning, Matias. Good morning, Lauren. How are you? I'm good. How are you? I'm good. Good. I'm waiting for a bus. I found a shirt. Okay. I'm home now and I showered. Nice. I'm also home and I haven't showered. And blah, blah, blah. And other things. Internet. Uh, awesome. How are you doing? I'm good. You? I'm also good. Bedtime. Good night, Matias. Good night, Lauren. And that was that was pretty much it.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

And then we talked today, but it was basically the same conversation again. That was that.

SPEAKER_00

I like the part where it says, I found a shirt.

The Podcast Intro And Name Bits

SPEAKER_03

I found a shirt. Okay. Let's get this over with. Yeah. One, two, three, go. Alright.

SPEAKER_00

Okay.

SPEAKER_03

Hello, my name is Lauren.

SPEAKER_00

I don't want I don't want to know. I don't want to know.

SPEAKER_03

I don't really care.

SPEAKER_00

No, I just wonder if you want to redo your presentation. Not important. No.

SPEAKER_02

No.

SPEAKER_00

People don't care.

SPEAKER_02

Nobody cares what this is. They don't know what they've been listening to for the past three years.

SPEAKER_03

Hello, my name is Lauren, and this is the same podcast that it's always been since the first time we recorded.

SPEAKER_00

Yes, that one. What's the name of this podcast? No. No. We changed it.

SPEAKER_02

We're changing the title to no.

SPEAKER_00

Not a bad title.

SPEAKER_02

No.

SPEAKER_03

The podcast in which I just disagree with everything you say. I could start this. I'm good with this. I like this idea.

SPEAKER_04

Okay.

SPEAKER_03

We're switching up the podcast now.

SPEAKER_00

Okay. No. No.

SPEAKER_03

No.

SPEAKER_00

Is it a good idea?

SPEAKER_02

We just disagree with each other.

SPEAKER_00

So is it a good idea?

SPEAKER_02

No.

SPEAKER_00

No.

SPEAKER_02

No.

SPEAKER_00

Okay.

SPEAKER_03

Hello and welcome to Roasty Toasty Coasty. My name is Lauren.

SPEAKER_00

And I am Matias.

SPEAKER_03

And I've been trying to tell you that I'm Lauren for the past like half hour now.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, okay. For the past three years, I think.

SPEAKER_02

For the past three years. I've been trying.

SPEAKER_03

I've just been trying to tell you that my name is Lauren. But um there is someone in my life who is trying to change my name to Ida.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

So I'm considering changing my name to Ida. Ida. Ida. Ida. Ida, Ida.

SPEAKER_00

Ida.

SPEAKER_03

Hold on. This is the podcast in which you will learn nothing at all.

SPEAKER_00

Yes.

SPEAKER_03

And we're gonna be your besties for the next hour or so.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Matias.

SPEAKER_00

Yes.

SPEAKER_03

How are you doing?

SPEAKER_00

I'm doing well.

SPEAKER_03

Cool.

SPEAKER_00

How are you?

SPEAKER_03

That is a deep question, isn't it?

SPEAKER_00

Yes, it is.

SPEAKER_03

And uh I'm not comfortable answering.

SPEAKER_00

No.

SPEAKER_03

I'm okay.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Which is the cover always.

SPEAKER_00

That's the cover.

SPEAKER_03

It's the cover.

SPEAKER_00

Okay.

SPEAKER_03

To cover up how I'm feeling.

SPEAKER_00

Okay.

SPEAKER_03

I'm okay.

Weekly Highlights And Chopping Wood

SPEAKER_00

Very cool.

SPEAKER_03

What have you been up to? Have you done anything this past week? Anything worth mentioning? Do you have highlights of the week?

SPEAKER_00

I I feel good about chopping wood. You know, the trees.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Cut them down and chop them up.

SPEAKER_03

Good. They deserve that, I guess.

SPEAKER_00

Oh yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Have they been bad trees?

SPEAKER_00

I'm a tree killer. Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

That's not nice.

SPEAKER_00

No. Lun murder.

SPEAKER_03

That's maple.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

That's not okay.

SPEAKER_00

Maple killer.

SPEAKER_03

That's not okay. Okay. That offends me. I have strong feelings for maple.

SPEAKER_00

Sorry. Okay. Arrest me then.

SPEAKER_03

Okay. You're arrested.

SPEAKER_00

Okay. Is this the prison?

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

This is myself.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. Anything else?

SPEAKER_00

No, not really.

SPEAKER_03

That's it.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Okay.

SPEAKER_00

Have you done things this week?

SPEAKER_03

This week, no. I worked once. And uh I have been doing a lot of gymnastics admin stuff. We are in the process of big things. So I've been sending emails and stuff. Okay. And we are progressing and things are good. Oh. Good. Yeah. That's all. That's the highlights of my week. I think. Cool. Today is Friday. It is March 27th.

SPEAKER_00

Wow.

SPEAKER_03

2026. Wow. Right? It's like almost April.

SPEAKER_00

Almost April.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Scary.

SPEAKER_03

It goes quick.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Quick. Cool week. We did watch movies.

SPEAKER_00

We did.

SPEAKER_03

Would you like to movie on?

Movie Night Starts With Big Daddy

SPEAKER_00

Let's move beyond.

SPEAKER_03

Okay. Today we watched Big Daddy.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

And Stop or My Mom Will Shoot. Yes. So you can tell me about the first movie.

SPEAKER_00

Okay. So this movie stars Adam Sandler and he finds a boy. Or a boy finds him-ish. Uh and he takes care of a boy in his own way. Last week he went to school, this week he comes a dad. He's not really fit to be a dad, if you think about it, but then again, maybe most guys are like that. So who's fit to be a dad, really?

SPEAKER_03

I don't know.

SPEAKER_00

He takes care of this boy pretending to be his roommate who went to China. That gets consequences later in the movie. That's what the movie is about.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

What did you think about this movie?

SPEAKER_03

I have seen this movie. This was the movie that I thought we were watching last week.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, okay.

SPEAKER_03

But uh no. It was the movie that we watched today.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

And I like the movie. I think it's funny.

SPEAKER_00

Okay.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

What do you think?

SPEAKER_00

I think it's a really funny movie. I really like this one. I think this might actually have been the first Adam Stanley movie I ever saw. It's either this or Happy Gilmore, but I'm pretty sure I saw this one before Happy Gilmore.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, and I honestly can't even say which one was my first. I don't remember.

SPEAKER_00

Okay. Yeah. I uh because it's between those two. I know we had him on uh VHS and I really like both of them. And yeah, so yeah, I really love this movie. It's fun and emotional. Really like it. It feels like he has most of his friends in this one.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Do you have more?

SPEAKER_03

I don't think so.

SPEAKER_00

I don't think so.

SPEAKER_03

I don't know. There's been a lot of movies set in New York, New Jersey the past couple weeks.

SPEAKER_00

It's not really uh m my intention to do that. It's just it just happens. I also realized when we were watching them that this is Big Daddy and Stop or My Mom will shoot. So it's both patterns.

SPEAKER_03

You just noticed that?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Because I noticed that when I yeah, when I noticed when I saw both of them, okay.

SPEAKER_00

I I saw well, I assumed that it was on purpose. No, no, no, that it wasn't. And I noticed that while watching the movies.

SPEAKER_03

Uh-huh.

SPEAKER_00

I'm like, oh, oh yeah, cool.

SPEAKER_03

I figured that was the connection this week.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, no, it wasn't.

SPEAKER_03

So what was it?

SPEAKER_00

Okay, I I didn't really think of a connection that much, but I did find some connection between these. And it's about parenting both movies, kind of. Breakfast has an important part of both of the movies. Or important part, but I mean they're parts of the movies. Those are at least two.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

And the titles.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

But yeah, I didn't really get that connection before. Sometimes I have that intention and sometimes I don't.

SPEAKER_03

Okay. Then do you have anything else?

Stop Or My Mom Will Shoot Review

SPEAKER_00

No. Do you wanna talk about Stop or My Mom Will Shoot?

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. This is a movie with Stallone, and he's an adult and his mom comes to visit. And she is overpowering and she treats him like a child. But I think she has a different background than you think.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

And she helps him with a case pretty much. And that's it.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

They beat up some bad guys.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Or they don't beat them up, they shoot them.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. They shoot them up.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. What do you think of this movie?

SPEAKER_00

I really like this one. I I think it's a fun movie to watch. It's a silly, cute movie, I think. I really like this one. And another personal connection between the two movies is that this might have been the first alone movie I ever saw.

SPEAKER_03

Oh. Uh this is the first time I'm seeing it.

SPEAKER_00

Okay. Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

I've never I don't think I've heard of this one.

SPEAKER_00

Okay.

SPEAKER_03

A lot of the movies I've never heard of.

SPEAKER_00

No. But I really like it. What did you think about this movie?

SPEAKER_03

I enjoyed it. I got really annoyed with the mom because of how overpowering she was and how like in his business she was. It was really annoying.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Uh but yeah, um, it it was it was a good movie though. I guess I can see how it could be funny.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, okay. Do you feel like you could be like that as a mom?

SPEAKER_03

Not that extreme.

SPEAKER_00

No, okay.

SPEAKER_03

I mean, sure, there will be moments when I feel like I need to embarrass my kids. Oh yeah. But not at the level that she was taking it. Okay. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. I don't think I'm that bad. No. Uh fun facts about this movie, or one fact, is that I think Stallone thinks this is his worst movie.

SPEAKER_03

One of them.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Uh he said that, uh, I mean, this and Rhinestone, I think.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, because that's what I was thinking of.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. I've heard that both of these movies. Pretty sure he actually said that this one was his worst. Okay. Schwarzenegger tricked Stallone into taking this mm part. Okay. Schwarzenegger said that he was interested in making this movie and he had made some comedies before which were big hits, and Stallone and Schwarzenegger was rivals at that time. So Stallone he really needed this role, so it didn't go to Schwarzenegger.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Later on, Schwarzenegger said that he did that just to trick him into taking the role.

SPEAKER_03

Alright.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. And I like the director to this movie.

SPEAKER_03

Okay.

SPEAKER_00

Roger Spottyswood, whom we have seen other movies like uh Tomorrow Never Dies, Air America, right. With Mel Gibson, and The Sixth Day with Schwarzenegger.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, okay.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Fun facts. Yeah. Yeah. I think that was it.

SPEAKER_03

Okay.

SPEAKER_00

I like this movie too. I like both of these movies.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

I had a good time with these movies today.

SPEAKER_03

Good. Alright. Anything else?

SPEAKER_00

No, I don't think so.

SPEAKER_03

Okay. We usually go to break here.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, we usually do.

SPEAKER_03

But it is 174, which means that next week will be 175.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, that's true.

SPEAKER_03

And that is usually when we do uh kanga reviews.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

We uh uh assign each other rewatches for movies that we liked, but maybe the other one didn't feel the same. And you have one for me.

SPEAKER_00

I do have one.

SPEAKER_03

So you can go ahead and give me that.

SPEAKER_00

Okay. So it's been between two. Okay. And both Stallone movies.

SPEAKER_03

Uh is that what I'm supposed to say here?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, you don't like Stallone.

SPEAKER_03

No. Okay.

SPEAKER_00

Both the movies we had problems with the subtitles. You know which ones I'm talking about? I don't remember. Either Cobra, who had the O problem with with the O's, like every O was weird.

SPEAKER_03

Okay, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Or Nighthawks, which we watched in the States and it didn't have uh subtitles at all. Okay. I decided to be nice to you and give you Cobra because I'm pretty sure you liked that a little bit better than uh Nighthawks and Which one do you like better? I like Cobra better.

SPEAKER_03

Okay. And then that's the point.

SPEAKER_00

I like both. Cobra is better. Yeah, that's yours.

SPEAKER_03

Okay. I'm just gonna give this one to you because because that's all.

SPEAKER_01

Okay.

SPEAKER_03

Because I recall you maybe, maybe deep inside not enjoying it nearly as much as I did.

SPEAKER_01

Okay.

SPEAKER_03

Okay. I'm gonna give you Breakfast Club.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Uh, I think you only didn't like Judd Nelson.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

And he is my favorite part. So you need to re-watch it and change your mind.

SPEAKER_00

I need to like him now.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Okay.

SPEAKER_03

At least try. I mean, you kind of know his background, so you can kind of understand how why he is the way he is.

SPEAKER_01

Okay.

SPEAKER_03

And see that he's actually kind of funny.

SPEAKER_01

Okay.

SPEAKER_03

And that's it. Now we both have movies. We're gonna go home and watch them, and we will give you the full breakdown next week.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

So now that we've covered that, would you like to take a break? Yeah. Alright. We will be right back.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, let's take a break.

Break And Coming Back

SPEAKER_03

Alright, bye. We are back. We are. We're here and we're back.

SPEAKER_00

That's true.

SPEAKER_03

And we're ready to go.

SPEAKER_00

Yes.

SPEAKER_03

Home.

SPEAKER_00

Okay. You're already there. Home.

SPEAKER_03

Alright. I'm ready for you to go home.

AI List Pros Of Being A Man

SPEAKER_00

Okay. Yeah. Sorry. Bye.

SPEAKER_03

Alright, so today we have a really fun topic. Okay. So um we have our friend open eyes.

SPEAKER_00

Oh yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Open AI. My daughter calls it chat dippity. Dibbity.

SPEAKER_00

Dipity.

SPEAKER_03

Dibity. Dibbity dippity.

SPEAKER_00

Okay.

SPEAKER_03

Chat bibbity bobbity boop. And um, our very fun topic that we are going to learn about is men and women. So it's just something I was curious about.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

What uh it would come up with. So, Matias.

SPEAKER_04

Yes.

SPEAKER_03

I'm going to start off for you. Top ten pros and cons. No, not even top. Just ten pros and cons of being a man.

SPEAKER_01

Okay.

SPEAKER_03

I believe it's ten each.

SPEAKER_01

Okay.

SPEAKER_03

Ten pros, twin, ten, ten, twin towers. Twin towers.

SPEAKER_00

I saw them in the movie today.

SPEAKER_03

Today?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

I missed that part.

SPEAKER_00

Big daddy. I'm like, oh, there they are again.

SPEAKER_03

Ah, they keep doing that.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Okay. Ten pros and ten cons. Okay. That's what I was trying to say. Okay. Starting with pros of being a man.

SPEAKER_01

Okay.

SPEAKER_03

Number one. Physical strength advantage. Do you honestly believe that men are stronger than women?

SPEAKER_00

Physically?

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Well.

SPEAKER_03

Are you stronger than me?

SPEAKER_00

Um well, it depends on where we're talking about.

SPEAKER_03

Where? Yeah. Whoa. Where are you stronger than me?

SPEAKER_00

I don't know. Maybe arms.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, okay.

SPEAKER_00

Uh, but I I'm pretty sure you're stronger with legs than me.

SPEAKER_03

I currently am not stronger than you at all because my shoulder is hurting again. So there's no way I could beat you in anything.

SPEAKER_00

Okay.

SPEAKER_03

Well don't even try for like uh arm wrestling or anything, because that's gonna hurt.

SPEAKER_00

I haven't tried trained for so long.

SPEAKER_03

I haven't tried.

SPEAKER_00

I haven't tried for so long.

SPEAKER_03

No.

SPEAKER_00

So I don't know. I'm pretty I'm pretty weak.

SPEAKER_03

Okay. Interesting.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Uh I'm I'm going with all the accents.

SPEAKER_03

We're just gonna test them all out and see where we land. So on average, men have greater upper body muscle mass and bone density, which can be useful in physical demanding tasks and certain sports. But I don't know. That part kind of it feels a little unfair. Yeah. Because some women can be stronger than some men.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Oh yeah, definitely.

SPEAKER_03

Very like average.

SPEAKER_00

There are definitely women stronger than me.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

No questions there.

SPEAKER_03

Number two. Men have less social scrutiny about appearance. Men are often judged less harshly on body shape, aging, clothing, or makeup standards. So if you're not wearing makeup today, I'm not gonna judge you. No. It's okay.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I know. That is a fact.

SPEAKER_03

Okay.

SPEAKER_00

Because I I don't I uh I mean it might be a shocker to all the people, but I don't wear ma makeup. And uh yeah, I don't really care that much about appearance.

SPEAKER_03

I see that.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, you can tell.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Uh I wasn't sure if you could tell, but uh now that you said so, I'm sure.

SPEAKER_03

Are you super self-conscious um about your appearance, I guess?

SPEAKER_00

I mean, I guess uh I don't know. In some ways I don't like being uh uh uh you know shirtless.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Uh and uh because you know my fat m fat belly uh and uh yeah uh things like that. I don't really care that much about my face. Okay, but I know it's not uh very nice to look at, but that's what it is. Yeah. I could make it prettier, I guess, but I I don't really care.

SPEAKER_03

With makeup.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, and I mean uh I have uh dry skin, so I could mm you know moisturize, but uh I don't. I don't even know what's to to have to moisturize it.

SPEAKER_03

Okay, okay.

SPEAKER_00

I guess you uh you do that because I moisturize my face.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

And it's the same with my hands, I don't really moisturize moist the eye though them either.

SPEAKER_03

Okay.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Sorry, I got stuck on the moisturizer because I uh I remembered in the movie he put the milk in the moisturizer bottle.

SPEAKER_00

Oh yeah.

SPEAKER_03

So that it could just it pump down the milk. I like that.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I like it too, but you really have to clean that thing before during so.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, maybe. Why not moisturize your internal organs as well?

SPEAKER_01

I know.

SPEAKER_03

Be softer.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, maybe.

SPEAKER_03

Okay, number three. Men have lower risk of certain forms of harassment. While not immune, men statistic statistically uh experience lower rates of sexual harassment and assault in many societies. I not many men get catcalled.

SPEAKER_00

Okay, no, that's true.

SPEAKER_03

That was that. Alright, number four, men don't have pregnancy burden. Uh you can't get pregnant. So that's a pro.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I guess. Unless unless you're Schwarzenegger.

SPEAKER_03

Then you can get pregnant.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, in junior.

SPEAKER_03

Nothing is off the table for Schwarzenegger.

SPEAKER_00

That's true.

SPEAKER_03

Freedom from the physical risks and long-term biological demands of pregnancy and childbirth. Although you can get other people pregnant, but that you don't have to really deal with that if you disappear from existence. Number five, higher average earnings. In many countries, due to systemic and historical factors, men often earn more on average in similar roles.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

So that's why I always ask you to pay because I'm assuming you have more money than I do.

SPEAKER_00

I don't think that really applies to Sweden nowadays. Because I think uh we actually get uh I mean uh treated fairly if you uh by doing the same job.

SPEAKER_03

Uh-huh.

SPEAKER_00

And but uh then again it might be easier for guys to get you know higher paid jobs.

SPEAKER_03

Probably.

SPEAKER_00

But uh while there if a woman works up to that level I think they still get the same pay but yeah but I think a woman needs to work harder to get there.

SPEAKER_03

Definitely yeah yep yeah number six this is basically what you were just saying leadership bias advantage men are frequently perceived as more natural leaders in corporate and political spaces so you are more likely to get promoted than a woman. Yeah number seven men have greater encouragement toward independence. Boys are often socialized to be autonomous and self-reliant early.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah okay this doesn't apply to you no all right number eight physical safety perception men feel safer walking alone at night in many places due to lower perceived vulnerability I guess but I I still uh think uh walking uh alone uh you know later at night can be a little bit scary even for me but I I'm sure it's more much more scarier for uh ladies.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah this reminds me of a comedian that I uh saw a video of once uh she was asked uh what she would do if she was a man for a day and she was saying that usually people would go straight for you know playing with yourself um but she said that she would go for a walk late at night.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah yeah I can see that without fear yeah and I I'm also kind of on the you know the opposite side of that because I feel like I I don't want to pose as a threat to girls. If there's a girl walking and I'm behind her yeah I'm like I don't want her to feel uneasy with me behind her.

SPEAKER_03

Right. So uh yeah the that's also you know how do I do you like change your direction and find a different path even if it has to be like a little bit longer to get to where you're going.

SPEAKER_00

I don't maybe I would it depends on uh sometimes I might like um you know try to pass her and you know go around her a bit so I'm not near her and like pass her so she's like okay it now she got eyes on me. Now she knows that I'm not dangerous. Yeah you know that that's my sometimes when I don't feel like I have another way to go. Right. Sometimes I just take another route.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah okay more guys should do that.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Advice for the guys out there. Try not to be a threat.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Uh number nine age related social benefit aging in men is often framed as gaining authority or gravitas rather than losing value. Hmm yeah depending on how old you are I guess.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah I guess so I still think we're uh I mean we we still have like crisis uh midlife crisis yeah midlife crisis and you know stuff like that so I um I think that women go through the same thing but it's seen more as like a hormonal breakdown.

SPEAKER_03

We're judged because we have natural occurrences in the body and that gets blamed. Oh yeah instead of having them in life crisis.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah yeah so I I don't know I um I guess no one really likes to age unless you're a kid. Kids like uh most are kids like want to be older. Want to be around twenty there you could stop. Yeah maybe yeah or thirty yeah I mean still in our thirties I'm I that's quite young. Yeah but you know it's inevitable. Yeah getting older or or unless you die I guess but I don't really want to do that right now.

SPEAKER_03

No?

SPEAKER_00

No okay ask me later later today?

SPEAKER_03

Yeah okay number 10 how about now okay have a now number 10 men have less reproductive time pressure. Male fertility typically extends longer than female fertility at what age are you too old to be getting ladies pregnant?

SPEAKER_00

I I don't know I think you could what from what I know you you can go for a long long time as a guy.

SPEAKER_03

But like if if it's you okay how old do you think you'd have to be before you'd be like I think I'm too old for this okay yeah I should not be getting other ladies pregnant.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah that's uh that's a good question because uh I mean sure you can still be making babies at like 70 five yeah yeah sure I mean uh but when should you stop yeah I don't know because uh I mean I I'm thinking of like um these old uh actors and celebrities who get you know kids when they're in their 70s and everything I'm like that's so old yeah you're when you die your kid will still be a kid probably yeah so it's like uh um um Chuck Norris he was like 60 when he got his uh you know youngest kids but okay I mean there's they're adults now so I mean that's that's better. Yeah um but and uh it's so yeah I don't know I feel kind of like 60 might be a little much though in in the 50s maybe somewhere.

SPEAKER_03

Okay.

SPEAKER_00

I don't know what what do you think?

SPEAKER_03

For a man yeah I don't really know I mean I think that currently I'm thinking like 40s. Okay. Anything more than that feels like it's pushing it.

SPEAKER_00

Mm-hmm but yeah I also feel like um people tend to get older these days so as what okay you know what we're not getting younger. Well no that's true. No I'm thinking uh maybe before they people died in their like sixties or seventies now they can move on to like eighties and nineties.

SPEAKER_03

Oh like a longer lifespan.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah okay uh that's what I meant. I noticed that everyone's just getting older nowadays uh so yeah the so I feel like if you think you uh that the kids could still be adults when you die that would but yeah that's hard to say because you could die tomorrow.

SPEAKER_03

Right.

SPEAKER_00

So you never know. But I don't want to die.

AI List Cons Of Being A Man

SPEAKER_03

Okay. Okay, still not still all right keep that in mind. Yeah okay now comes some cons of being a man this is why we don't want to be a man. Okay. Okay. Number one emotional restriction norms cultural expectations often discourage men from off openly expressing vulnerability or sadness.

SPEAKER_00

Oh yeah the I mean uh I agree with that because I almost never cry. I feel the feelings I but I never shed a tear.

SPEAKER_03

Why? I don't know what has happened to you I don't know what kind of trauma have you experienced that shut you down completely?

SPEAKER_00

I'm not sure I'm gonna find out yeah uh I'm not shedding tears but yeah I like I said I feel the feelings I still get the feelings but I just can't cry.

SPEAKER_03

Alright I'm gonna get to that later okay but now I'm gonna give you number two the second con of being a man which is higher suicide rates. You sure you don't want to die?

SPEAKER_00

Alright I'm pretty sure men statistically have testically um men's testicles testicles uh have higher suicide rates in many countries okay yeah that's not nothing to laugh at no it's not funny no don't do that no I I is basically what we should be telling people stop that I'm not planning on it and uh yeah yeah I tell other people to don't do that.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah number three yes dangerous job concentration men are overrepresented in high risk occupations such as construction mining and military roles we want you guys to put yourselves in danger. Yeah I guess we're expendable you are stronger and you can handle it. Yeah and I mean you don't cry so you're okay.

SPEAKER_00

Women live longer than men.

SPEAKER_03

Because you all die. Yeah because we have those jobs I guess yes so maybe we should never uh have kids exactly and then there's not gonna be any babies anymore. No and then society ends because everyone gets old and then they die and there's no babies.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah I guess if society ends it's because of us because of this podcast. Yes that too because of men yeah that uh I'm not disagreeing with that either uh number four pressure to be a provider and protector social expectations can create intense stress around income success and stoicism yeah okay yeah I don't know stoicism that might have been it I don't know uh so you have to make money you have to be successful and you have to stoism yeah and uh it's a lot of pressure yeah I can't do it because I'm a man yeah I mean and also bugs we have to take care of the bugs spiders and uh that's true yeah so that that's scary I like to say that I don't mind spiders but I don't really want to handle them either. No.

SPEAKER_03

So that's a man problem.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Uh the wasps I'm not gonna do it. No nope no thank you. No because they've hurt me before I don't want them to do it again.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

So someone stronger than me has to take care of that. Um okay number five lower life expense expect expect expect expectancy yeah that's what's that one word expect expect expect expectancy expenses and in the end I still mispronounce it I got the rest of the word out but I did not pronounce it correctly so men tend to have shorter average lifespans than women because you're all dying. Oh yeah because you're all put into high pressure situations and military and construction and coal mines and stuff. Yeah and that's why and also you're dumb so you end up getting killed.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah that's also true.

SPEAKER_02

Number six limited parental leave support in many regions so sciethole suicidal suicidal expectations sometimes discourage men from taking full caregiving roles we just expect you to to kill yourself I have to take care of my child I'm getting might as well just go.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah the thing that annoys me the most is when men call taking care of their children babysitting.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah that that's not a parent's work.

SPEAKER_03

I am not paying you to take care of your own child no even if that's what you expect me to do. I expect you to take care of your own child if I need to go do something else. If I need to go work if I need to uh take care of myself uh go work out or work right I mean like I don't get it no but that's a passive aggressive issue yeah I mean as a parent you can't say that you're a babysitter to your own kid. Right.

SPEAKER_00

That doesn't work like that.

SPEAKER_03

Uh no number seven suspicion in caregiving roles men working with children may face unfair suspicion or stigma. So yeah you get accused of mistreating the child because you're a man working at uh preschool or something. Yeah and uh well that's not fair and I don't completely agree that that's right. No I mean everyone should have a background control or check before they take care of children.

SPEAKER_00

But then again I I feel like if if the kid has uh trouble at home I think uh people would suspect the dad in the first place even if it might be the mother who right yeah maybe I don't I'm not sure but yes I don't want to go around generalizing because that's that's not cool.

SPEAKER_03

No that's not okay.

SPEAKER_00

No.

SPEAKER_03

But yeah I don't know be suspicious of everyone.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah that's what I do.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah I mean not everyone is perfect and even women can be mean to children and mistreat them. Yeah. Yeah uh so that's not fair. Okay. Number eight higher incarceration rates. Men are disproportionately represented in prison populations. More men are sent to prison than women I guess.

SPEAKER_00

Okay yeah I can see that.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah you're all troublemakers.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah uh but yeah I I wouldn't say that it's unfair either. I I don't know but uh I kind of feel like uh yeah men are more troublemakers than some men than women but uh you know or are women seen as more like innocent than men I guess so I guess that's why men often you know gets uh if there's like a domestic disturbance the dad gets the blame because he's a man are more you know so angry yeah and troublemakers right so yeah I I I yeah in in a way I do understand but uh I don't know either.

Lesser Known Facts About Men

SPEAKER_03

Number nine men get less social support. So if men often maintain smaller emotional support network compared to women so stop your crying get over it be a man move on yeah is what you're told even though you need to be told like do you want to talk it out and I'm here for you. Yeah yeah even if you do shut it down someone's at least there for you number 10 social stigma around seeking help right same thing therapy medical care and mental health support are sometimes underutilized due to masculinity norms so even even the therapists are like be a man grow up stop crying and get over it. Yeah you're fine and that's not good. No stop the next part is here are some 10 okay here are 10 some 10 here are 10 lesser known facts about men.

SPEAKER_01

Okay.

SPEAKER_03

Number one men fall in love faster that I don't have experience with but it says some studies suggest men report falling in love slightly earlier than women on average while social scripts paint men as emotionally slow the internal firework can ignite quickly.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah but I think that might be true but we also feel like we have to hide it longer maybe maybe maybe you feel it but you don't express it.

SPEAKER_03

Exactly okay do you have experience in this maybe yeah okay number two few people notice it okay male brains shrink faster with age that makes sense that explains a lot brain volume decreases in everyone over time but some research shows men experience slightly faster overall brain volume decline after midlife.

SPEAKER_00

Okay I don't know I I I haven't gotten there yet I don't know number three men are more likely to be colorblind are you colorblind I'm not sure I because I feel like sometimes when especially so uh some people uh are very like uh you know particular about uh uh some uh colors and I'm like oh that's pink that's not pink that's whatever else this is pink I'm like oh they kind of look the same to me okay hey Google what's pink what is pink okay that's not my actual question do you see anything in that picture? I see 21.

SPEAKER_03

You see 21? Yeah okay okay colorblind test start 12 okay what do you see there 21 do you see a number um is it six okay I don't see a number there you don't see a number no wait no I it I I can't see no okay not really what about that one that looks more like a two okay twenty-nine um seven no number kinda looks like a nine okay for me no number not at all no okay eight forty two no I can't see a number okay okay diagnosis I didn't realize we were gonna diagnose you today okay you have moderate color vision deficiency okay crazy test result is forty four percent you got eight out of eighteen oh okay wow yeah I'm bad you need different glasses again okay there are special glasses for colorblindness color glasses colorblind glasses how interesting okay well we discovered today that Matias is 44 44 percent colorblind yeah interesting very cool okay so here's what uh open eyes has to say about this colorblindness is far more common in men because the most common type is linked to the X chromosome with only one X there's no backup copy about one in 12 men experience it very interesting okay number four men are biologically more vulnerable in infancy okay male babies have higher rates of premature birth developmental complications and infant mortality from the very start the male body can be a bit more fragile than people assume were you premature? No I was late oh how late uh I think like uh five days five days okay uh did you have developmental complications I don't think so okay okay uh what do you think have you ever experienced infant mortality uh once once okay didn't like it no so you stopped yeah okay unlike it now I'd rather not I wake up now I'll just wake up okay number five testosterone drops when men become fathers after the birth of a child men often experience a measurable drop in testosterone lower levels are associated with increased nurturing behavior biology quietly switches gears well you'll never know what that's like so we'll just keep going number six men are more likely to die of broken heart syndrome probably not you so I don't know tachotsubo cardiomyopathy is more commonly diagnosed in women but when men get it outcomes are often more severe yeah I feel uh yeah maybe has this ever happened to you have I got my heart broken okay yeah sure or yeah maybe okay uh have you ever died from bark broken heart syndrome uh once when I was a baby oh that's pretty early yeah I don't know uh you know men are earlier to get those kind of emotions okay right right I was very early yeah but I was also late so yeah you know I had a complicated situation yeah I I like the nurse who took care of me and you know she healed you yeah she well she she didn't like me back not that way no so that broke my heart baby yeah and I died for a second.

SPEAKER_00

Okay. Then I woke up 'cause I didn't like dying.

SPEAKER_03

Okay.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, that's the story about that.

SPEAKER_03

Okay. Number seven. We're just gonna keep going. Okay. Uh men sweat more, which I feel like we all knew that. So that was not few people knows it.

SPEAKER_01

No, not really.

SPEAKER_03

Men generally have more active sweat glands and higher sweat rates than women. It is partly linked to I was going to say mustache mask.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

But it says muscle mass and hormonal differences.

SPEAKER_00

Okay, yeah.

SPEAKER_03

It's partly linked to how big your mustache is.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

The bigger the mustache, the more sweatier you get.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, that that's where the sweat comes from.

SPEAKER_03

I think so. The mustache.

SPEAKER_00

And just covers the body from there.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. It's like a cloud. Yeah. A mouth cloud.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. That's a mustache.

SPEAKER_03

Number eight. Men have fewer close friends. Uh-huh.

SPEAKER_04

Sorry. Yeah, I see it. I see it. Oh yeah.

SPEAKER_03

On average, men report fewer intimate friendships with women. Oh my gosh, with women. Than women. Let me try this again.

SPEAKER_01

Okay.

SPEAKER_03

On average, men report fewer intimate ri relationships with women. No. On average, men report fewer intimate friendships than women. Many men rely heavily on a romantic partner for emotional support. You don't talk about feelings with your guy friends, is basically what it says.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. That's true. That's true. I I feel like I have more uh women friends.

SPEAKER_03

That's me.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. You and I mean at work were more women who were my friends than men.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. Yeah. That's how it is. Yeah. Here's one. Number nine. Yes. Hearing loss hits men earlier. Yes. What?

SPEAKER_00

Oh yes, definitely.

SPEAKER_03

I would have never guessed.

SPEAKER_00

What?

SPEAKER_03

Men are more prone to early hearing decline.

SPEAKER_00

Okay, scope.

SPEAKER_03

Right.

SPEAKER_00

Are we gonna do a hearing test now?

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, let's do that. Some of this is environmental, such as occupational noise exposure, but biological factors may also play a role.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. I'm kind of worried about my hearing because I I'm really bad at it.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, you are.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Number 10. Men experience male pattern baldness.

SPEAKER_00

Okay, I never experienced that.

SPEAKER_03

No? No. Due to hormone sensitivity, not just testosterone. Sir, your hormones are very sensitive.

SPEAKER_00

Oh my head?

SPEAKER_03

Because you're bald.

unknown

Okay.

SPEAKER_03

It is not about having more testosterone. It is about how sensitive hair follicles are to dehydrate testosterone. Two men can have similar hormone levels and very different hairlines.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. You you know how I earlier said that I don't cry.

SPEAKER_03

Right.

SPEAKER_00

I drop my hair instead.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

It's not teardrops.

SPEAKER_03

It's hair drops. Okay. Alright. This will be a two-parter, and we will talk about women two episodes from now.

SPEAKER_00

Okay.

SPEAKER_03

So it's gonna be a long break in between.

SPEAKER_00

Long break.

Why Matias Does Not Cry

SPEAKER_03

Can I tell you why you don't cry?

SPEAKER_00

Okay.

SPEAKER_03

I forgot about this part.

SPEAKER_00

Oh yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Uh have to jump back to why doesn't Matias cry? You feel the feels, but you can't cry. Matias does feel emotions, but his brain slash body doesn't easily turn them into tears. Short version is he likely learned to hold emotions in, which is common in men. Did you do that? Yeah. Okay. Uh his body may express feelings differently, like tension, thinking, and silence. Yeah, yeah. Okay. Hormones and personality can make crying less likely. Sometimes it's a protective block to avoid losing control.

SPEAKER_01

Maybe.

SPEAKER_03

Do you feel like you're you're pushing back? Like when things get really tough, do you like feel like you're pushing everything down?

SPEAKER_00

I don't think so. I feel more like if I I'm really sad, I want to cry, but it just doesn't come.

SPEAKER_03

Okay, okay. Bottom line is not crying is not equal to not feeling. It just means your release valve isn't tears. So what is your release valve?

SPEAKER_00

Lumping my throat. You know that lump you get.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Uh and I'm I'm like, I want to cry that out.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

But it yeah, I don't know.

SPEAKER_03

Uh it just gets stuck. Yeah. Okay. Alright.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. I don't know. That's my way of dealing. Yeah, dealing with the sadness.

SPEAKER_03

Alright. Well, that was part one. We will get to part two in a couple of weeks.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

So since we are nearing the end of the episode, would you like to tell me what is ruining your life?

SPEAKER_00

Yes. What's ruining m my life this week is I got like an eczema on my uh ear. Behind my ear. Again? Again. Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

We need to find you some lotion.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. I guess so. I need to m moisturize more.

SPEAKER_03

You do.

SPEAKER_00

I do. But I don't know what to get or where to get it or I will help you find something.

SPEAKER_03

That would be for sure.

SPEAKER_00

That would be nice.

SPEAKER_03

Yes.

SPEAKER_00

So yeah. Uh what's ruining your life?

SPEAKER_03

Neighbors.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, okay.

SPEAKER_03

Neighbors are ruining my life. That's it.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

That's the end of that.

SPEAKER_00

Yep. That's the end of the neighbor.

SPEAKER_03

That's the end of the neighbor. Are you all out of sips?

SPEAKER_00

I'm all out of sips, and that means we're all out of episode.

SPEAKER_03

Alright. Well, would you like to wrap this up then?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, let's do that.

Fan Mail And Where To Follow

SPEAKER_03

Okay. I'm gonna start off with some fan mail that we got.

SPEAKER_00

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I remember that.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, and that is that.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, we never saw that movie.

SPEAKER_03

We haven't seen it yet.

SPEAKER_00

Not yet. No, maybe we will one day.

SPEAKER_03

One day we might do that. Yeah, okay. Well, thank you for listening. We will be back next Tuesday with a brand new episode breaking down the movies that we are going to go watch soon. Our rewatches. So uh follow and subscribe so you don't miss that. And anything else?
