Roasty Toasty Ghosty
Roasty Toasty Ghosty — The comedy class no one asked for, and everyone needs.
Each week, Lauren and Mattias “teach” you something completely useless — from fake history lessons and chaotic crash courses to games, quizzes, and whatever else their sleep-deprived brains come up with. Think educational chaos… but make it funny.

#199: Bad Robot
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
We bounce from chaotic life updates and a PowerPoint presentation that betrays Lauren to a surprisingly real talk about CPR and freezing when something goes wrong. Then we pivot into movie night mode with reviews of That’s My Boy and Zookeeper, set up a rewatch challenge for episode 200, and end with a wildly incorrect “history” of Terminator.
• catching up on sleep, school travel, and a week that feels nonstop
• dealing with a presentation done early and design changes after file transfer
• talking through “um” habits and the urge to edit ourselves in hindsight
• learning CPR, wondering when to step in, and the fear of overreacting
• meeting Greg Poehler and geeking out over Welcome to Sweden
• watching Terminator 2 in a cinema and why it still holds up
• reviewing That’s My Boy and why the humor feels more uncomfortable than funny
• reviewing Zookeeper as a lighter family movie with talking animals
• assigning a Kanga Review for episode 200: Anger Management
• attempting a Terminator timeline and immediately losing the plot
• pulling “what’s ruining your life” cards to close it out

Cold Open And Welcome
SPEAKER_00Here's the fun intro, crack it, ten years. Here we go. No one knows what will even know. Started with the movie plot. Now it's done where we are none.
SPEAKER_05Oh my gosh. Monday yesterday is 199. Let's do something fun today.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_05We are almost done.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_05Just a couple weeks left of this.
SPEAKER_02Okay.
SPEAKER_05Let's open this up then.
SPEAKER_02Let's open it up. Cool.
SPEAKER_05Thank you. You wanna scroll? Chairs. Chairs.
SPEAKER_02Hello and welcome to Roasty Toasty Ghosti. My name is Matthias.
SPEAKER_05I'm Lauren.
SPEAKER_02Uh we're gonna be your besties for an hour or so. So. Oh s and s and so?
SPEAKER_05So so? I don't care.
SPEAKER_02Who cares?
SPEAKER_05I don't want to be your bestie. No. Not even for an hour.
SPEAKER_02No.
SPEAKER_05Not two minutes even. Not even twenty minutes. Or twenty-two minutes.
SPEAKER_02Not two minutes even. Not even twenty minutes.
SPEAKER_05Not even twenty-two minutes.
SPEAKER_02Not even twenty-three or forty-four minutes.
SPEAKER_05No, these are too many minutes.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_05I uh don't feel like it.
SPEAKER_02No, okay. Uh um this is the podcast where you learn nothing at all.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Probably. Yeah.
Chaotic Weeks And Sleep
SPEAKER_02So how are you doing, Lauren?
SPEAKER_05I'm good. It has been a chaotic week.
SPEAKER_02Okay.
SPEAKER_05Um, I feel like I haven't been sleeping. I have hardly been eating, and I've been having a lot of fun.
SPEAKER_02Okay.
SPEAKER_05During that.
SPEAKER_02Sounds like a lot of fun.
SPEAKER_05Through the suffering. It was a lot of fun. Okay. How are you doing?
SPEAKER_02I'm good. I I mean I I had a regular week. Nothing more, nothing less.
SPEAKER_05Logum.
SPEAKER_02Yep. That sh shows you how much a sweet I am.
SPEAKER_05Yep. Normal sweet.
SPEAKER_02Yep. Logum squeed.
SPEAKER_05Squeezed.
SPEAKER_02Squeed. Squeeze. Slogum squeeze. I'm a loggum squeeze. Why are you weird? Not too big, not too little.
SPEAKER_05Just a normal squeeze. Yeah. I actually got some sleep last night.
SPEAKER_02Mm. That's good.
SPEAKER_05And it feels really good.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. I got less sleep.
SPEAKER_05Yeah. That's not good. No. Maybe you should try sleeping.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_05Why don't you sleep?
SPEAKER_02Because I'm up late.
SPEAKER_05Not good.
SPEAKER_02And then I kind of want to wake up a little bit early so I can, you know, wake up a bit and then take a shower and uh then go here. Because I don't want to be dirty when I'm here.
SPEAKER_05You're dirty.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_05You had a normal week. I had a chaotic week. I have been kind of working again. Yeah. I don't know how long that's gonna last because I'm really just replacing a girl who broke her foot. But I've been going to school all week. All week I went to school.
SPEAKER_02Every single day.
SPEAKER_05Every single day. And you know, kinda takes a lot out of me. Even when we just have like half days, it still takes a lot out of me because I have to wake up early. I still have to take that train ride for like two hours, go to school, try to stay alive while I'm there and listen, and then still I still have to go home. It's a lot of travel time.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_05And it's exhausting. But a lot has happened.
PowerPoint Presentation Chaos
SPEAKER_05I did a presentation this week.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_05It didn't go exactly how I wanted, but I think I am content with my performance.
SPEAKER_02Still could have been worse.
SPEAKER_05It could have been worse. Definitely could have been better. But I am not the kind of person who prepares more than really necessary. I will go through like a couple of lines that I want to say beforehand and then like not say it.
SPEAKER_02Okay. Okay.
SPEAKER_05Completely forget what I wanted to say.
SPEAKER_02I feel that too. Prepare like two lines. And but I usually say them as Oh, okay.
SPEAKER_05Wow, cool. That you're so much better to me.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, because those are the ones I'm focused on. Oh, okay.
SPEAKER_05The only two lines you want to say. Yeah, because it's how Yeah, no, it happens a lot for the podcast too. I'll like prepare something that I want to say and then just like never say it.
SPEAKER_02No, okay.
SPEAKER_05Completely forget until like we're done. Then I'll be like, oh yeah. Well, not even gonna bother next time. Got a whole week until then.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. I feel like that's also something that happens when I talk. Or when we're a group talking, I feel like I want to say something, you know, but uh then they move on to another conversation. That's it's too late. Yeah, I can't say what I wanted the previous conversation.
SPEAKER_05I feel like we've talked about this before though. So I had my presentation and yeah, it went well. I'm okay with it.
SPEAKER_02Okay.
SPEAKER_05I don't regret that much.
SPEAKER_02Even though you forgot what you wanted.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, and there was like I said um a lot, which is not a big deal, but it feels like it it might have been a lot more times than I probably should have.
SPEAKER_02You wish you could cut them out, right?
SPEAKER_05Yeah, I always want to go back and just like cut out all of my ums. Like this is really annoying.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, that's the good thing about podcasts.
SPEAKER_05It's like every time I said um or like uh or something similar, I would like get annoyed with myself. Like, can you shut up? Can you just like say what you want to say?
SPEAKER_02That's I'm getting so annoyed when I listen to myself. Oh yeah, yeah. During recording.
SPEAKER_05And like the other thing about my presentation, sorry, I'm interrupting you because it's not important. I don't care.
SPEAKER_02Um I just want to interrupt you.
SPEAKER_05Um, the thing is that I wasn't a hundred percent prepared because I did my presentation on Thursday when I was planning on doing it on Friday. On Friday, I was gonna bring my laptop in and like be able to just connect the HDMI to the projector and do it from there.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_05But I didn't have my laptop. I was asked if I wanted to do it a day early. I was like, I guess I just I have to send my presentation to someone else who can connect to the projector.
SPEAKER_02Okay, but you had your presentation.
SPEAKER_05It was done. Yeah. Yeah. But the design and like the sizes of things didn't really send the right way. Okay. You know? So like there were some things on my actual design that showed up differently through the transfer. The transfer messed up my presentation.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_05So I had like all these nice transitions and it looked really cool. And then like they they just didn't translate.
SPEAKER_02No. So you felt like uh can I redo this?
SPEAKER_05Yeah, I'm like, I need to try this again with my own computer so that you can actually see what my presentation looks like.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. I mean that wouldn't work if you're making a movie. Like, no. Oh, the effects uh they didn't come out exactly the way they were supposed to. It doesn't look like what I intended.
SPEAKER_05So but it looked different on my computer.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, it is what it is.
SPEAKER_05Whatever. Um, okay. Uh a couple other things that happened this week.
CPR Class And Emergency Freeze
SPEAKER_05I learned how to do CPR. That's cool, right? Yeah. So if you decide to have a heart attack and try to die, yeah.
SPEAKER_02I mean, then I can working on it.
SPEAKER_05I can save you if I want to.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, that's up to you.
SPEAKER_05But like, while we were doing the course, I I kept thinking, like, what if this happened to me? And you were you would probably be with me if this would happen, and some we see someone who is like having a heart attack and dying on the ground. I feel like in that situation, you would freeze and not know what to do.
SPEAKER_02Okay.
SPEAKER_05Right?
SPEAKER_02I don't know. I mean, uh, I've done the have you done the course?
SPEAKER_05Yeah. But would you dare to actually go up to the person and try to save them?
SPEAKER_02Uh yeah, I would probably try if I if Yeah.
SPEAKER_05I thought about it.
SPEAKER_02I mean, uh it it's I intended to. Yeah, it's a few years since I did it before uh did the course, but uh I started.
SPEAKER_05When did you do it?
SPEAKER_02I did it once in school. We got to try like a dummy thing.
SPEAKER_05One of the idiots in class.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. They asked who's the stupidest?
SPEAKER_05Like teachers like, oh that one. Right now, go ahead and take him.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. My friend. Yeah. I think we got like a a quick like crash course. Crash course. I got a crash course. Yeah. Pretty much. Uh at work before with the fire thing.
SPEAKER_05Oh, okay.
SPEAKER_02Did you ever do the fire thing?
SPEAKER_05I did the fire thing. I don't remember the CPR part.
SPEAKER_02Okay.
SPEAKER_05That doesn't mean it didn't happen. No. It just means I don't remember.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. So I did it I've done it twice. It was more like uh they explained more in uh school though. But I I still know the basics.
SPEAKER_05Have you ever been in that kind of situation where you you've never like witnessed No. Okay.
SPEAKER_02Have you?
SPEAKER_05No, not like a heart attack, but I do know that there was we also did the Heimlich preparations and stuff.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, okay.
SPEAKER_05Or crash course. I've never done it myself.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, okay.
SPEAKER_05But I do remember there was this one time when my daughter was like, she was sitting across from me at the dinner table. We were eating cheeseburgers, and apparently she had some of it stuck in her throat. And she was like, she like froze. But like you could tell there was something wrong. I froze. I was like, is this actually happening? Is it gonna go over? You got this? Like uh like I I'm like never sure. Like, is this an emergency or is this like, should I not overreact? Should I overreact? I don't know what to do right now. And then my life partner at the time. Yeah, um, same guy. It sounded like it was a different person. Yeah, sorry. My life partner saw that it was an emergency and she was not okay, and he did the He threw up, and then he grew up. No, he did the Heimlich on her and saved her pretty much. And then I was sitting there like, wow, I suck. I'm a terrible mom. How did I not like do anything? But like I don't know. I don't know when it is an actual emergency or if it's something that's just gonna go over in a minute, you know? And like I don't know when to call emergency services.
SPEAKER_02No.
SPEAKER_05Cause like, what if it's not an emergency and like it does go over, then what? Yeah. Call them back and be like, sorry, never mind. Ambulance shows up, there's nothing for you here. Then I have to like pay, right? Or something. Probably they're gonna punish me for someone not dying.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_05I mean you're that's how it is for the police, right? Yeah if you call the police without an actual emergency, then they like send you a fine.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_05I don't know how it works.
SPEAKER_04No.
SPEAKER_05I'm assuming.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_05That's what I've heard.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_05I could be wrong. Anyway.
Greg Poehler And Terminator 2
SPEAKER_05I did that. I also met Greg Polar.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_05Just, you know, no big deal.
SPEAKER_02If people were.
SPEAKER_05Just gonna throw that out there. Yeah. I met Amy Polar's brother, Greg, who made Welcome to Sweden. And uh it was really cool. That show came out when I pretty much had just moved to Sweden and it was something that I could relate to a lot and kind of laugh about as well. And uh I mean it pretty much goes through the journey and like difficulties of moving to another country with a different culture and everything. It was really good. The timing was really cool.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_05Um, so yeah, I got to hang out with him at his office and we talked and it was really cool. I might have an internship in January with him. Nothing's confirmed, but it was brought up and he told me about the things that he's working on and we really just sat there and chatted. I mean it wasn't it wasn't a big deal.
SPEAKER_04No.
SPEAKER_05And then I waited to freak out until after. Yeah. It was kind of funny because I I asked to take a picture with him and I was like, this is a really I have one more really weird request for you.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_05It was like, can I please get a picture with you so that my sister doesn't think that you're a scam?
SPEAKER_02What did he say?
SPEAKER_05He was like, haha, yeah, okay, fine. It was really cool.
SPEAKER_02It was like she's on to me.
SPEAKER_05Well, no, you know how like sometimes maybe you don't know, but sometimes you get like approached by these scams that say, Hey, I'm Brad Pitt, and I I'm really interested in you, and also can I have some money because I'm Brad Pitt and I'm like broke.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, of course. He's a struggling actor.
SPEAKER_05Yeah. Please help me.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I mean, uh wait, are you saying that's not Brad Pitt?
SPEAKER_05It's not Brad Pitt. I'm sorry.
SPEAKER_02Then why why am I paying the guy?
SPEAKER_05Because he's a struggling actor. Yeah, that's what The Scam is also an actor, just so you know, who just goes by the name Brad Pitt. That doesn't mean he is Brad Pitt. No. Not the same one that you're thinking of.
SPEAKER_02No, he's still named Brad Pitt, though.
SPEAKER_05Yes. His name is Brad Pitt.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_05And he claims to be a struggling actor.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_05Have you ever met the guy?
SPEAKER_02No.
SPEAKER_05No. Okay, then.
SPEAKER_02Not yet.
SPEAKER_05Not yet. No. You have something planned?
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_05Oh, but he just cancelled?
SPEAKER_02Yeah. He he wants me to pay for his uh flight tickets.
SPEAKER_05Okay, okay, okay. Well, good luck with your life.
SPEAKER_02Thank you.
SPEAKER_05Okay. So yeah, that happened. And it was really cool.
SPEAKER_02We also did the Terminator 2, right?
SPEAKER_05We watched Terminator 2 in the cinema.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_05And it was it was kind of funny. We were sitting in different rows. Yeah. But did you hear me yelling at you?
SPEAKER_02No.
SPEAKER_05Okay, good.
SPEAKER_02What what did you say?
SPEAKER_05Or no, I don't think I was yelling at you specifically, but like before the movie started, I was like, all I can see is the shiny head in front of me. Oh. I can't see the move. And then he said the thing, and I was like, oh he said the thing.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_05Well, I'm good I'm glad that you couldn't hear me.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. It's it's uh it's too bad we didn't get the same role.
SPEAKER_05You could have. No one was sitting to the left of me.
SPEAKER_02I didn't know that.
SPEAKER_05But I I think it was healthy that you were sitting separately for uh a life partner and I. But I thought it was fun. It was a really cool experience. Yeah. I'm glad that we did that.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. We ate some food. Kind of.
SPEAKER_05Yeah. We had like warm snacks, I guess I would call it. It was fun. It was fun. It was fun. I started coaching gymnastics again this week. That was that.
SPEAKER_02That was the week.
SPEAKER_05That was the week.
Movie Night Picks
SPEAKER_05Uh on Wednesday after my meeting, we watched movies.
SPEAKER_02Yes.
SPEAKER_05Which was really weird. It's not normal for us.
SPEAKER_02No.
SPEAKER_05But we had a movie night. We did not record afterwards.
SPEAKER_02I'm glad we could find time for a movie night.
SPEAKER_05We had a a couple hours to spare. So we watched movies. Would you possibly like to movie on?
SPEAKER_02Let's movie on.
SPEAKER_05Okay. On Wednesday. Today is Sunday as well. It's currently September 13th.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_05And Wednesday we watched movies. We watched two movies. Yeah. Which were James.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_05Kevin James. Kevin James. Right, right, right, right. Okay. And he was in a movie that well, he was in a movie.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, he was in a movie.
SPEAKER_05He started in this movie. He was the he was the movie. Oh, it was the zoo one.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_05Okay. Zookeeper.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_05Okay. All right. All right.
SPEAKER_02That was the second movie.
SPEAKER_05Yeah. And then the first movie was not Adam Sandler. Yes. It was Adam Sandler. It was his birthday. He turned 60.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_05My memories are coming back. Just slightly. But it was the last Adam Sandler movie we were gonna watch. Yeah. He turned 60, which was totally not planned. Right? No.
SPEAKER_02No, no, no, no. I I wanted to end his movies around his birthday, but I never expected to be on his birthday. You were the one the one who picked the dates.
SPEAKER_05Okay. This movie was oh, okay, okay, okay. The spirits are talking to me. Mm-hmm. The ghosties. The ghosties are they're they're trying to rip refresh my memory. Um, okay, so it was the movie with Adam Sandler. This is the movie that I asked you to put onto the list. Yeah. That's my boy. Yeah. Oh my goodness. I did it. Yeah. I did it. I remembered. We watched The Zookeeper and That's My Boy.
That’s My Boy Review
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_05But we started with That's My Boy. So would you like to give me the worst summary?
SPEAKER_02Okay. It starts with Adam Sandler as uh a schoolboy. And he's having uh sex with his teacher. And then she gets pregnant and gives birth to Adam Andy Sandberg. Andy Sandberg. And then she goes to jail for having sex with a minor. Years later, Andy Sandberg is an adult, and Adam Sandler's his dad. Andy Sandberg doesn't want a relationship with Adam Sandler. Andy Sandberg also is gonna have a wedding.
SPEAKER_05He's getting married.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. And Adam Sandler is kind of crashing that wedding in a way.
SPEAKER_05He was not in the wedding crasher.
SPEAKER_02No.
SPEAKER_05That was Owen Wilson and um Robert De Niro. No, Vincent. Vince Vance Gil Van Dyke. I don't know. Dick Van Dyke.
SPEAKER_02Or as I like to call him, Vince Vaughn.
SPEAKER_05I was really close.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_05Okay. Anyway, that wasn't this movie. No, that was. Is it on the list?
SPEAKER_02It's on the list. Cool. It's gonna be in a couple of years.
SPEAKER_05It's five years from now.
SPEAKER_02No, like two years from now.
SPEAKER_05Okay. We'll see how much you mess with the list in between.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, that's true. But yeah. So that's kind of the movie, I think. Or am I missing something? No. No.
SPEAKER_05I said the worst summary.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I know. There was this was too good.
SPEAKER_05Too good. Too good. Too good of a summary.
SPEAKER_02Okay, so what did you think about this movie?
SPEAKER_05Okay. Here's the thing. All right, I like Adam Sandler.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_05I like Yandy Sandberg. I like them together. Did not care for the movie.
SPEAKER_03No.
SPEAKER_05Sorry. I liked seeing them together. That was the only part that I really liked about this movie.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_05Uh everything else I could have done without.
SPEAKER_02I liked seeing Susan Sarandon.
SPEAKER_05Oh my god, that's whole that's right.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_05Was she the reason that we watched this movie?
SPEAKER_02No.
SPEAKER_05Because I remember I asked you to add the movie.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_05For some reason. And then I was thinking, oh well, maybe it's because Andy Sandberg was in it, but now I'm wondering if it was actually because Susan Sarandon was in it.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, maybe.
SPEAKER_05That might have been it.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, and that's why I took it last. Because I'm like, we're gonna start Susan Sarandon after. So next week it's gonna be Susan Sarandon.
SPEAKER_05Very exciting. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Go ahead.
SPEAKER_05For a few weeks. Okay. So that's basically how I felt about this movie. Yeah. And I have to apologize to my future boss, uh, Adam Sandler. Oh yeah. I'm sorry I didn't like this movie. Yeah. But I I just it was dumb. It was weird. I I I didn't care for it.
SPEAKER_02No.
SPEAKER_05It was kinda awkward and it was really awkward and it like makes you a little uncomfortable.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_05So for the people listening, only watch it if you want to see Susan Surandon and Andy Sandberg working with Adam Sandler. Yeah. Everything else, just ignore it.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. It had some fun cameos, but uh yeah.
SPEAKER_05It was really dirty, it was really vulgar. Yeah. And Sick Child was watching, and I didn't like that. No. And he was refusing to leave the room or do something else.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_05Uh so yeah, there was that.
SPEAKER_02I never saw this movie before.
SPEAKER_05Me neither. No, because obviously.
SPEAKER_02I think I watched the trailer and I'm like, an R-rated Adam Sandler movie like this. And I I feel like R-rated comedies often tends to like uh It leans on the sexual side. Yeah, yeah, sexual side and like use the F words as much much as possible.
SPEAKER_05Which is basically what he did.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, and it's like okay, it's not that funny. It's no it's just a word. You can use it sparingly.
SPEAKER_05If you want to use these words in a movie in a comedic way, you gotta work on the timing, not the the quantity.
SPEAKER_02No, exactly.
SPEAKER_05Amount of times that you use these words. That's not funny. It's annoying. Yeah. Really. And like you can't think of other words to say. I mean, that's kind of how I feel about real people in real life who use a lot of vulgar words.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_05It's like you couldn't like replace that with another, like, you know, uh a good word. How small is your vocabulary? Yeah. Is my question.
SPEAKER_02And when you use it a lot, it's impact lessons.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, exactly.
SPEAKER_02It's an impactful word, so use it sparingly. Yeah. And it will necessary. Yeah. So it has more impact.
SPEAKER_05Yeah. Exactly. All right. All right. So I don't think we need to talk about this anymore. No. I think we're done with this conversation.
Zookeeper Review
SPEAKER_05I'm gonna tell you about Zookeeper.
SPEAKER_02Yes, please do.
SPEAKER_05Okay, so Kevin James is in this movie and he is a zookeeper. Yeah. It works at a zoom. I don't uh yeah, yeah. He keeps the zoom. And that is the movie. Well, no, he tries to change himself or a girl, and I mean it works, and then he doesn't like the person he became. He tries to become a car salesman instead, and it doesn't work, so he keeps the zoo.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, and the animals are trying to help him.
SPEAKER_05They talk.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_05All the animals are fake.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_05Yep. And they all talk. Adam Sandler was in this movie. He was a monkey. Uh Maya Rudolph was the giraffe.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_05Uh oh gosh.
SPEAKER_02The lion guy.
SPEAKER_05The lion was Stallone.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_05Which him singing at the end was probably the best part. And then there were others. But I I had a really hard time like pointing out which voice was each animal.
SPEAKER_02In the end credits, they should have had like separately this animal was voiced by yeah. Yeah.
SPEAKER_05Like sometimes they do. Yeah. In the end credits, but not this time. I only I mean you pointed out Stallone right in the beginning, because you already knew that.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_05But Adam Sandler, I caught on towards the end. And Maya Rudolph kind of towards the end as well. It was like that could be her, but I'm not quite sure. But she does a lot of voiceovers. And I never really realize it's her until the end.
SPEAKER_02Okay.
SPEAKER_05Until the end credits. I'm like, oh yeah, well duh. Obviously that was her.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. And uh the gorilla was Nick Nolte.
SPEAKER_05I don't even know what that is. No. Maybe I should.
SPEAKER_02No, I I don't think we watched movies with him yet, but he's in one of my favorite comedies, so we will watch him.
SPEAKER_05Do you remember the other animals?
SPEAKER_02Was the Lady Lion was that Cher?
SPEAKER_05Yeah, yeah, yeah. I r I remember that too. Okay.
SPEAKER_02I'm not sure which one was which of the other ones.
SPEAKER_05Um I don't remember the others.
SPEAKER_02No.
SPEAKER_05Anyway, uh what did you think about this movie?
SPEAKER_02I think it's a pretty cute movie. I I like this one. It has the a little bit of the night at a museum vibe to it. Yeah. It's like a good fun family movie. Good for the family. There's uh no F-words.
SPEAKER_05No.
SPEAKER_02So yeah, I I like it. It's kind of cute. What do you think?
SPEAKER_05I mean, I feel like it is definitely for kids. I I think I enjoyed it. Yeah. It might not be like a top lister, but it it's it's probably like somewhere in between. It was fun. It was it's definitely a movie I would have liked a lot more at a younger age.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_05That's like that was my thing. I liked animals, especially if they can talk. Yeah. That's pretty cool. Um, but yeah, it was it was good.
SPEAKER_02That's that.
SPEAKER_05That's that. I think that's all.
SPEAKER_02You wanna take a break or that sounds like a really good idea. Yeah.
SPEAKER_05Wow.
SPEAKER_02Okay.
Break And Return
SPEAKER_05All right, let's take a break.
SPEAKER_02We'll be soon. We'll soon be back.
SPEAKER_05We'll soon be back. Hello. Hello. Welcome back. Welcome back. Because we are back.
SPEAKER_02We are.
SPEAKER_05Alright.
Kanga Reviews For Episode 200
SPEAKER_05So let's get on to the second part. In which we have things that we are going to do.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_05First, it is 199. Yeah. It's our second to last podcast episode. Kind of sad. It's a little sad.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. That's that's a good reference. Yeah.
SPEAKER_05Okay. Well, we have plans for today. Since next week is number 200.
SPEAKER_02Yep.
SPEAKER_05Whoa.
SPEAKER_02The big 200.
SPEAKER_05We have to assign Kanga Reviews.
SPEAKER_02Yes.
SPEAKER_05In which we pick a movie or assign a movie to the other person for a rewatch.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_05To uh, I don't know, talk about the movie again and break it down.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_05Pretty much. I don't know. Yeah. Anyway, you have a movie for me.
SPEAKER_02I do.
SPEAKER_05I would like to hear which movie it is before I pick one for you.
SPEAKER_02Yes. Okay. So I'm thinking, am I too mean with this one?
SPEAKER_05But You might be. I'm already assuming that you're really mean.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_05All of your options are really mean.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_05Okay.
SPEAKER_02Okay, so because I mean, it was a movie we had a little trouble with, but you also said that maybe a second watch would make more sense. Yeah. And that's here.
SPEAKER_05Yeah. Okay. So then I have to go with the other one.
SPEAKER_02So you also have to be mean?
SPEAKER_05Uh uh. Well, I was thinking about using this one as well for you. Okay. If you didn't pick it, but I'm not gonna do that.
SPEAKER_02Okay.
SPEAKER_05Okay. Well, we'll see how that goes.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, because I mean that's a lot of like timelines to keep track of.
SPEAKER_05Oh, this is gonna be hard.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_05This is gonna be tough. Um a good reference.
SPEAKER_02You're a reference machine today.
SPEAKER_05Yay. Okay, so the one that I'm picking for you, which you pretty much picked for yourself because I have zero memory span. Um anger management. Yeah, purely on the fact that you were annoyed with Robert De Niro. No. No. Why is he all the time?
SPEAKER_02Um whenever you can't name an actor, you're just Robert De Niro.
SPEAKER_05I've seen one movie with him. Like he's apparently in all the movies.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Okay.
SPEAKER_05Nicholas, Nicholas Finch. Nicholas, uh, Robert Nicholas.
SPEAKER_02Okay.
SPEAKER_05Oh my god.
SPEAKER_02Uh you're wanting to help you?
SPEAKER_05Clark, I think is his name. Nicholas Cage. No, that's not it either. Oh my god. Um, oh my god, the creepy guy. Yeah. What's his name? It is Nicholas.
SPEAKER_03No.
SPEAKER_05Uh he's in Silence of the Lambs, I think. No. He doesn't he doesn't play the the cannibal guy.
SPEAKER_02He should have that's Anthony Hopkins.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, but he should have. Okay. If they make a remake, then Nicholas. Nicholas. Nicholas should be the guy. I don't even remember. What was the character's name? Ha ha ha. Ha ha ha. What's his name?
SPEAKER_02The silence on that. Yeah. Uh Hannibal Lecter. Hannibal Lecter.
SPEAKER_05Yeah. Nicholas.
SPEAKER_02Nicholas is gonna play ha ha.
SPEAKER_05My name is Nicholas, and I play the role of ha ha ha.
SPEAKER_02Very creepy. Hannibal.
SPEAKER_05Oh my god. What is his name?
SPEAKER_02You want me to help you? Sure. I'm not gonna come up with it myself. Okay. I I usually call him Jack Nicholson.
SPEAKER_05Well, yeah. I was really close. Nicholas. What was I saying? Did I say Nicholas? Yeah. Okay, yes. Jack Nicholson should play the role of Hannibal Lecter because it just kind of makes sense. Was he in the other movie?
SPEAKER_02He's creepy in The Shining.
SPEAKER_05That's what I meant. That was the one that I meant. Yeah. That other movie.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_05Some people might call it The Shining, but I call it that other movie. You should just assume that it's The Shining.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I should.
SPEAKER_05I've never seen that movie.
SPEAKER_02No, okay.
SPEAKER_05Which is another classic that I haven't seen.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_05Okay.
SPEAKER_02Okay.
SPEAKER_05Well, that's over. Right. I was assigning anger management to you because you were annoyed with Jack Nicholson.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_05I did not edit that in there.
SPEAKER_02Kind of sounded like it, but um.
SPEAKER_05So yeah, that's that. That is that. That is all of that. That is that.
SPEAKER_02Here and anger management.
SPEAKER_05Yeah. So next week we will break down those two movies.
SPEAKER_03Yes.
SPEAKER_05And hopefully we will have a new point of view on both of them. Alright. Well, that was that. Would you like to wrap this up?
SPEAKER_02Sure.
unknownOkay.
SPEAKER_02Okay.
Lauren Explains Terminator History Wrongly
SPEAKER_02You wanted to do a history lesson today.
SPEAKER_05I feel like as we reach the end of these episodes, maybe we should uh try, at least make a good attempt at going back to what we originally were gonna do with the podcast and fill it with me guessing on how things happened and assuming I'm right.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. The thing is, I want something, you know, going backwards or like uh in the beginning of our story. Okay, but we already done our friendship, we already done like movie nights.
SPEAKER_05We did everything. Yeah. So let's make it something completely different.
SPEAKER_02Okay. In a way it's tied into something, but it's completely different because you know, history in school.
SPEAKER_05Right.
SPEAKER_02I kind of felt like history isn't that fun.
SPEAKER_05It's not.
SPEAKER_02No, it's kind of boring actually.
SPEAKER_05Yes, I agree.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_05I'm a historian though. I find history really boring.
SPEAKER_02You really studied the wrong thing, I guess. Yep. Because you studied very much, I guess. Yeah. Yeah. Several years of studying. At least a couple hours. Yeah. But that's real history. What if we like talk about not real history?
SPEAKER_05Okay.
SPEAKER_02Like, I wanna know the history of the Terminator.
SPEAKER_05The history of the Terminator?
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_05Like, you want me to try to remember what I just watched?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, we we recently refreshed our memories. So Yeah. So I I I'd like to know more about the history of the Terminator. Is that okay?
SPEAKER_05I don't know. Alright, I'm gonna try to tell you about the Terminator and what I watched and what I I got out of it.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_05Right. Okay. So once upon a time there was a guy who was doing some programming and he wanted to build a robot.
SPEAKER_02Do you wanna build a robot?
SPEAKER_05That's what he was singing to his friends.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_05And they were like, shut up. Uh I guess it was The Rock.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Makes sense.
SPEAKER_05I feel like The Rock has sung this song before. So if you would please use your imagination of The Rock singing, Do you wanna build a robot?
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_05Okay. Anyway, so The Rock wanted to build a robot. He had no friends.
SPEAKER_02Oh.
SPEAKER_05He wanted a friend.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_05He wanted to build a robot friend.
SPEAKER_02Okay.
SPEAKER_05And uh Yeah. It's really sad. It's a sad story.
SPEAKER_02I can relate.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. But you became a robot. Yeah. So that's I was the friend. You was you were the friend. My friend Matias the robot. Yeah. So he coded this robot and he built it, and he was really happy. Really happy. They went to school together. Cool. And they played together. They watched movies together. The first movie that they watched together. Do you know which one that was?
SPEAKER_04No.
SPEAKER_05The first movie they watched together was. Oh my god. Hold on, hold on, hold on. I gotta remember. I I I studied this.
SPEAKER_02You're supposed to be an expert. This is not the test.
SPEAKER_05Oh my god, I'm freaking out. I'm so stressed out right now. Okay. The first movie they watched together was The Predator. Okay. Cause that's that's the one I'm thinking about, right? Okay. Um yeah. Okay. So that's what they did. They watched movies and they hung out and everything, and they had a really good time. Uh but The Rock was dealing with some bullies at school. Okay. It wasn't good. Not good. He didn't like it. Nope. So he kind of was thinking like, you know, Big Hero Six, the kid with Baymax.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_05And he changed Baymax to be a Terminator. That's what The Rock did with his robot. Okay. Matias robot.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_05He uh changed his programming to turn him into a Terminator. Okay. To kill his bullies.
SPEAKER_02Bullies. Uh-huh.
SPEAKER_05Yep.
SPEAKER_02That's how we started.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, yeah, yeah. He was like, it was just the the one time. Just one time. And then as he grew older, he had like really mean bosses and stuff too. And his robot Matias Terminator guy would become a hitman, really, for the rock. Yeah. And just kill them all.
SPEAKER_02If someone just disagreed with him, he's like Dead.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_05Gone. Good bay. Good bay. Good bay. Okay. It started getting a little out of hand and the rock was just killing everyone. You can't you can't do that. No. You can't just kill everyone who says something that is kind of mean to you. He couldn't take feedback.
SPEAKER_02No.
SPEAKER_05He couldn't take criticism.
SPEAKER_02No. He killed them all. I can like um picture comments online. Dead. Like all of these.
SPEAKER_05Yep. He said, Matias, go get him. He's like, gotcha. He went, killed the person, and came back. Yeah. Because he he can, you know, he scans the comment and he can read the code behind it and like the IP address and where that is. Yeah. He tracks down the commenters and kills them. Yep. Okay. So he's getting a reputation, right? And it's getting out of hand. And he is a Terminator now. Matias. Terminator is a Terminator. He's killing everyone.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_05And he's like pretty much almost killing the entire world. And it's not good.
SPEAKER_03No.
SPEAKER_05And then something about Sarah Connor comes in. Yeah. And she falls in love with the Terminator. And it's a problem. It's not good. The rock is not happy about this. But Terminator, Matias, will not kill Sarah Connor. They have a baby. That's how far it went. Matias Terminator got Sarah Connor pregnant.
SPEAKER_02So is the baby like half robot? I think so. Okay.
SPEAKER_05He has a GPS chip in him. That's how all the Terminators can find him.
SPEAKER_02Okay.
SPEAKER_05They weren't very good at finding him though.
SPEAKER_02No.
SPEAKER_05I mean, they were generally able to track him, but they couldn't like sense where he was.
SPEAKER_02No, they needed to ask around.
SPEAKER_05Yeah. Like, hey, is his name John here?
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_05Like, shouldn't you already know? Where do you think he is? So I guess they're not that advanced. No. They don't even have a GPS tracker.
SPEAKER_02No.
SPEAKER_05Okay. Bad robot. They they have Bad Robot. They ha well later later in life, John starts a production company called Bad Robot.
SPEAKER_02Is it based on Matias Robot?
SPEAKER_05Based off of the Matias robot.
SPEAKER_02Okay.
SPEAKER_05And he makes some good stuff. Anyway.
SPEAKER_02I'm lost.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, I don't know where we are. John was born.
SPEAKER_02Oh.
SPEAKER_05And they go back in time or something.
SPEAKER_02And well, yeah, who who built the time machine?
SPEAKER_05The time machine? Who did build the time machine? That was Doc Martin.
SPEAKER_02Oh, and Doc Brown.
SPEAKER_05Doc Brown. Doc Martin. And Doc Brown. They teamed up together and said, we're gonna make uh a time machine with shoes.
SPEAKER_02DeLorean? No.
SPEAKER_05Shoes. You should be able to walk back in time.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_02Moonwalk.
SPEAKER_05New moonwalk back in time. This was the first version before the DeLorean. Okay. So this is like a prequel to Back to the Future. Yeah. Because both these movies were made in the same year. That just doesn't make sense. Almost.
SPEAKER_02Almost.
SPEAKER_05Okay. Okay. Wait, was Back to the Future 83?
SPEAKER_02No, 85.
SPEAKER_0585. Okay.
SPEAKER_02And terminated in 84.
SPEAKER_05Okay, okay. It still kind of makes sense then. So Doc Martin and Doc Brown made Time Machine shoes to uh lend to Sarah Connor and uh John.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. And I mean uh the They walk back in time. Yeah, I mean uh it also fits with the Michael Jackson moonwalk.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, yeah. They moonwalk back in time. So that Sarah Connor can kill whoever uh the rock.
SPEAKER_02Whoever the rock.
SPEAKER_05Whoever the rock is, she wanted to kill him so that she never made the Terminator, so that she would never have babies with this guy. And then John disappears out of nowhere. I don't know. And um the world catches on fire.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. It's an elaborate way to kill her son, I guess.
SPEAKER_05Yeah. She gets she and then no one really had any idea of where the bad robot productions came from because he just like disappeared from everyone's memories.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_05Which is really it's a mystery where this came from. But that I I know. Yeah. Because I'm telling you now that's what happened. Good. Um Doc Brown, he wanted to make his time machine a little bit cooler. So he took the DeLorean and made that into a time machine instead. He was like, Yeah, yeah, yeah, that makes more sense to zoom back in time. Yeah. Not walk or moonwalk because that's just it's a lot of energy, it's a lot of work, and you have to like moonwalk like twice as fast as the car has to go.
SPEAKER_02Oh, really?
SPEAKER_05It's like it was 1.21 gigawatts.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_05You had to moonwalk at 2.42 gigawatts. I think. Yeah. Because math. And he was like, that's just it's too fast. No one can actually do that. No. Sarah Connor managed, I don't know how. She's also part robot, I think.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_05Uh well, she probably got the robot genes from Terminator Baby.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_05Or half Terminator Baby.
SPEAKER_02It started like growing.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, yeah, yeah. She it just it was a side effect.
SPEAKER_02It was like like nanobots.
SPEAKER_05Yeah. That's from from Big Hero Six. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Oh, the microbots. Yeah, microbot.
SPEAKER_05Oh, okay, okay. That's weird. Okay. Alright. So microbots are sperm. Robot sperm. Oh, that's weird.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_05That makes you think about Big Hero Six in a whole different way.
SPEAKER_02Oh my god. It was a wave subsistence.
SPEAKER_05Oh my god. That's so much. From one Terminator?
SPEAKER_02I guess so. Wow.
SPEAKER_05Okay. I can imagine being pregnant with a half terminator baby is really uncomfortable.
SPEAKER_02Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_05If you're getting all that shoved inside you.
SPEAKER_02Heavy.
SPEAKER_05Oh.
SPEAKER_02Oh my god.
SPEAKER_05Oh no. No, thank you.
SPEAKER_02No, okay.
SPEAKER_05I'm glad that I don't have Terminator children.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. I wonder what the cravings are.
SPEAKER_05Metal. I'm just gonna eat my computer now.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_05Just start gnawing on the microphone and.
SPEAKER_02I'm craving an airplane.
SPEAKER_05I'm so hungry I could eat an airplane right now. Oh my god. So I I guess that was the beginning and the end of the Terminator.
SPEAKER_02Very cool.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, because he there was an end, right?
SPEAKER_02Uh-huh. To the movie?
SPEAKER_05I don't know. There wasn't an end to the movie. No. The movie never ended. I had to leave. I have to go to bed at some point. Yeah, I guess so. The end of the Terminator, he regrets his life decisions, and he's sad that John had to disintegrate and not exist anymore. And that Sarah was weird. So he jumped into some lava and he melted. Yeah. Along with his Terminator friend. Yeah. Who was also there. Yeah. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02They were friends.
SPEAKER_05They w yeah. They kept chasing each other. Yeah. Yeah. Might have been his brother. Yeah. I can see that. It was really cool though. I mean, the what is it? Special effects. Yeah. It's like really cool.
SPEAKER_02Really cool.
SPEAKER_05Really scary. Yeah. Really cool.
SPEAKER_02Holds up well. Yeah. It's like 35 years. Yeah.
SPEAKER_05And it still looks pretty good.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Even on the big screen.
SPEAKER_05Alright. Well, that's what happened. Yeah. That is the story of the Terminator. Yeah. Uh if anyone wants to watch that movie, come back to me and let me know how much I got right.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, they don't have to now.
SPEAKER_05No, no, you don't have to go watch it. I already told you what happened. So sorry, but also not sorry. Alright. Is that it?
SPEAKER_02That's it.
SPEAKER_05Are we good for today?
SPEAKER_02I think so.
SPEAKER_05Second to last episode.
SPEAKER_02Oh my god.
SPEAKER_05Oh my god.
SPEAKER_02It's yeah, I I have such mixed feelings about this.
SPEAKER_05It's been fun. It's been fun. Now we're done.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Good rhyme there.
SPEAKER_05Thank you. Would you like to tell me what's ruining your life?
Cards Against Humanity Wrap-Up
SPEAKER_05Would you like a card that tells you what's ruining your life?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I want would like to pick a card.
SPEAKER_05Give me a card.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_05Territ cards. What's ruining your life? You're gonna pick a card from the cards against humanity.
SPEAKER_02Yep.
SPEAKER_05And tell me what is ruining your life. Anything good or is it dumb?
SPEAKER_02It's kind of dumb, but uh I can go with it. Okay. Throwing a virgin into a volcano.
SPEAKER_05Okay. Is that something you've done before? Have you ever thrown a virgin into a volcano?
SPEAKER_02So many times.
SPEAKER_05A terminator, maybe?
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_02Oh yeah. The terminator was Matthias Terminator?
SPEAKER_05No, he wasn't. He had a baby.
SPEAKER_02Oh yeah, but his friend.
SPEAKER_05His his brother was a virgin.
SPEAKER_02The friend was a virgin.
SPEAKER_05Okay. And I mean, if you were the Terminator, then you did do that.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Yeah. The Matias Terminator wasn't virgin. No. No. Why would someone But his brother was. Yeah. And uh that's why he was so angry all the time. Yeah. Because he couldn't get a girl.
SPEAKER_05This is relevant. What's ruining my life is a PowerPoint presentation.
SPEAKER_02Oh, yeah. That's that's actually it's relevant.
SPEAKER_05Well, I guess my PowerPoint presentation is somewhat ruining my life, but I'm okay with it.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, could have been worse.
SPEAKER_05Could have been worse. Are you all out of sips?
SPEAKER_02We can pretend that I am. Yes, I am.
SPEAKER_05I am actually out of sips.
SPEAKER_02Okay, cool. Good for you.
SPEAKER_05Well, thank you.
SPEAKER_02Good for you.
SPEAKER_05Thank you. You're welcome.
unknownOkay.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
