In this episode, Lynn brings clarity to a topic that many clinicians sense intuitively, but may not always name in their clinical reasoning: the role of energetic connection through our hands.

While our field relies on research, biomechanics, and tissue science, Lynn reminds us that therapists also work with living human systems – systems influenced by intention, presence, safety, and subtle forms of communication that extend beyond technique.

Using a simple “energy stick” demonstration, Lynn illustrates how two points of contact complete a circuit. This mirrors what she observes clinically: hands work more effectively when they work together. Two points of contact support greater regulation, clearer signaling, and deeper change in the tissue.

For pelvic health practitioners, this becomes especially relevant. The pelvic space is a dynamic physical, emotional, and energetic container. Clients often arrive with histories, injuries, or experiences that influence how their tissues respond. Working with both hands can create a sense of connection that helps clients feel grounded and can support the tissue in releasing more efficiently.

Episode Highlights ✨

  • Why two hands on the body provide more effective results in manual therapy
  • Why the pelvic region often holds unprocessed tension or emotion
  • How to recognize energetic “blocks” and how they may influence tissue responsiveness
  • The importance of therapists' intention and  regulation when guiding clients through deeper healing work

Today’s conversation bridges science, intuition, and clinical experience demonstrating how treating the whole person leads to more comprehensive treatment. While our hands mobilize tissue, they also communicate intention and connection. When we engage with clients on all levels – physical, energetic, and emotional – the work often becomes more efficient, more effective, and more meaningful for both the therapist and the client.

Hello, everybody, and welcome to this episode. I am excited about this topic because I know it's something that some people might have issues with, but I don't.

And I love sharing and talking about it, and that is the energy, and most specifically, the energy in our hands.

And I just want you to be aware of the current that actually runs through our body. Chinese medicine call it Qi.

That's the energy that the acupuncturists are trying to move with the needles, and Qi Gong is moving through exercise and movement, and our body is meant to be in a state of flow, beautiful flow throughout the body.

And that flow actually does come out through our hands. And one of my principal teaching points is that we should always have two hands on the body at all times because of that connection of that.

It completes the circuit. And what I wanted to share with you all is I have this energy stick here.

And for those of you just listening to this on audio, I'm going to describe this to you. But if you want to see it, go check out the YouTube channel for this podcast episode and you'll be able to see the energy stick.

So it's this tube that is maybe six to eight inches long. And it has two silver strips on either end of the tube.

And inside the tube are lights and there's a sound. So there is there's a circuitry inside this tube. And if I place my hand covering one of the silver bands and then I cover.

I'm. The other one with my other hand, it lights up and creates a sound. When I let go, it stops.

So when both hands are connected on this stick, the circuitry is completed and it turns the circuitry on. And the other fun thing is that if I'm holding one hand, one end of this stick, and I have someone else hold the other end of the stick, and then I touch their other hand or anywhere on their body, it lights the stick up as well.

We create this circuitry between each other when we are connected like that. So this energy stick is just a beautiful example of what's happening between our hands when we have both hands on the body.

We're much, we're able to make much more effective change in the tissues when we have two hands on the body.

So especially when we're doing And I teach the Schulte hold for a specific reason when working intravaginally on the muscles, the other hand, the outside hand goes on to the bones and please learn what you need to do with the bones to help make the muscles release more effectively.

It's something that I truly hope that the reason I named it was so that I hope other people will start teaching this.

And it'll be my legacy to pelvic health therapy because it's so darn effective that I truly wish everybody was doing it.

It just needs to be standard of practice in pelvic health, in my opinion. And so when we are working with the intravaginally, the internal hand is on tissue, the external hand needs to be on the body as well.

When I'm working on the bladder, my opposite hand is above the pubic bone. And make an Connection that direction.

With the uterus, depending on what I'm trying to do with the uterus, sometimes my hand can be on the abdominal wall, sometimes it's on the sacrum, depending on what structure I'm trying to make effective change with, I will change my outside hand placement when I'm working with the cervix and the uterine fundus and things.

So energy is so important because it is who we are, everybody. And we've been taught that we need to only do evidence-based stuff.

And I'm excited because it feels like the research is starting to explore this more. If you're not aware of quantum physics, everybody, that is what this is.

Anything that is observed is changing. That's quantum physics. There's so much that is happening that we're not even fully aware of.

But I am aware of the fact that both hands on the body definitely improves the response in the tissues.

And Also, the quality of your hands and the love that you send through your hands definitely also supports that release and also your intention, too.

So keep that in mind. love Susan Clinton said that 80% of what we do with intention is, you know, and that's 80% of the work that we do is intention.

Like we're intending to a certain structure and that intention is just so, so powerful. So keep that in mind as well.

And if you are interested in learning more about how to work with the energy in the body and the flow throughout the body and blocks in the body, our energy is meant to flow freely from top down, bottom and around and up and down.

But we can have injuries and impacts into our system. Grief can be held anywhere in the body and it just sits in the body like a heavy, heavy stone.

And the energy then has to work around that and it depletes. If that energy is, say, in our heart, that left side of our body, it can diminish the flow out into the left hand.

Anything that's happening into the pelvic space diminishes the flow of the energy down our legs. And if you want to learn more about how to work with energy flow and how to increase the body's ability to be in a greater state of flow, please check out my birth healing intensive program.

We are launching 2026 is the end of January. You still have time to register and sign up to be a part of the next cohort.

It is just the most powerful work that you will ever learn and learn to do to yourself first and heal the blocks that you have within you so that you can show up more powerfully for your clients.

Because on some level, your clients are reading your. They are sensing into what feels safe and what doesn't feel safe when working with you and where they feel they can go and where they can't go.

And all of that is that unconscious processing that happens between two people. And it truly is our job as therapists to show up as powerfully and as whole as possible so that we can better support our clients with the deep, deep healing work that needs to happen because this pelvic space is such a storage house of all of our unprocessed emotions, traumas, events, things that have happened to us.

A lot of it is getting stored in that pelvic space. And we need to know, I think it's a disservice to all therapists working in the pelvic health space if they don't know how to work with and process emotions and traumas.

in And things that are in our clients, every single day, you're dealing with this. And it's not enough to just know the knowledge and have the headspace around trauma and the nervous system.

We've got to bring it down into that tissue level as well. And I mean, that's great. I don't want to discount the connecting in and treating the nervous system.

That is super important. Please forgive me if you took it that way, but the nervous system is one level of healing.

It's bringing it down into the tissue level that is also just as important in my mind. And when we're working with that tissue level and stuff comes up, if you don't know how to handle that, it's really a disservice to not only you, but also to your clients.

And that's the skills that I want to give you in that birth healing intensive program is how to deal, what to say, what needs to happen when stuff comes up in a session.

And it's If that is of interest to you, please check out the Birth Heal Intensive Program on my page.

We'll put a link in the show notes and please fill out the application that is, you know, by filling out the application, I'll read through it.

We'll get on a call and we'll just see if you're the right fit for the program and the program's the right fit for you.

Okay. No pressure, no commitment by filling out the application. So please, if that is of interest to you, please do that.

And know that we are energetic beings and that energy stick, I'm going to do it one more time. One hand's on one end, the other hand, just join the other hand and the stick lights up.

We are energetic beings. We have energy flowing through us. And the more we can use that in our sessions, the easier it is for us to do the work and to get the releases that we want in the tissues and in the body.

So hope that was helpful for you. Please check out the video if you want to see that energy stick light up.

And, um, See what that's actually about. And so thank you so much for listening in, everybody, and we will see you all in the next episode.

Here is to smoother bursts, faster recoveries, and deeper healing, working with the energy. Take care, everybody. Bye-bye.
