Conversations with artists about storytelling

Simon Wilkinson on the future of storytelling

Karen P Season 1 Episode 1

I'm interviewing a range of UK artists & creatives about how they create & work with story for a professional development project, funded by Arts Council England's DYCP.

Simon Wilkinson is a multi-disciplinary artist at the forefront of a pioneering movement dedicated to developing new approaches to making stories for immersive technologies.

From 2010 to 2018, his works were developed as a solo artist, under the name CiRCA69 & in collaboration with Silvia Mercuriali, under the name il pixel rosso.

In 2018, Simon & collaborator Myra Appannah set up BRiGHTBLACK Productions Ltd, developing ground-breaking, immersive works asking questions about the world using new technologies & platforms, games design, culture & interactivity.  Together they run Immersive StoryLab, a course, platform and community of over 4k participants exploring the future of culture as participatory, playable, inclusive, decolonised and disruptive. Clients include the Royal Shakespeare Company, The British Council, the National Institution of Dramatic Arts (Australia), the University of York, grassroots organisations and many more.
