Nathan Curry on telling stories with meaning, honesty & realism
A great conversation with Nathan Curry, Co-Artistic Director of Tangled Feet Theatre, delving into his creative process making & directing devised & text based performance.
Nathan also works as an independent theatre director. He has been Associate Director of Greenwich & Docklands International Festival & The Bush Theatre, & Staff Director at The National Theatre.
Nathan relishes working with strong political narratives, visually strong staging & ensemble storytelling. He believes in creating theatre that explores tensions in the world, reaches new audiences & is meaningful to the people who make & watch it.
Tangled Feet’s work explores social issues, from young carers to parenthood, youth unemployment, gentrification, borders & divisions, amongst many others.
This conversation was recorded in March 2022, so some of the references are a little old. It’s pretty much unedited & contain language, opinions or views that solely reflect the speaker.
My next interview in this series of storytelling interviews is with Myra Appannah, a BAFTA & Sundance nominated writer, an immersive tech specialist & co-director of BRiGHTBLACK.
