Conversations with artists about storytelling

Janet Vaughan on telling stories through design

Karen P Season 1 Episode 8
Janet Vaughan is a Designer & the Co-Artistic Director of Talking Birds, a Coventry-based company with a reputation for making gently provocative projects which explore, & seek to illuminate, the profound & complex relationships between people & place.

Janet has designed site specific & touring performances for unusual spaces, devised theatre & new writing.  Her freelance work includes work with Theatre Absolute, Belgrade Theatre & a pop-up shop kit for the ground-breaking Inspired/Retail Trust Retail Ready People project in 2013.

Her designs were chosen to represent UK scenography at the Prague Quadrennial World Scenography Exhibitions in 1999 & 2015, & she is part of Julie’s Bicycle’s first cohort of Creative Climate Leaders.

This conversation was recorded in May 2022.  It's pretty much unedited & contains language, opinions or views that soley reflect those of the speaker.

My next guest in this series of storytelling interviews  is  Professor Ann Light a design research & interaction theorist writing about participatory design, collaborative future-making & transformations to sustainable futures through changing cultures.
