Stop Comparing Yourself to Other Brands | A Lott Of Fashion Podcast
In fashion, comparison can quietly kill creativity.
On this episode of A Lott Of Fashion Podcast, we talk about why designers and brands need to stop measuring their journey against everyone else’s. Your brand has a different story, different resources, different audience, and a different timeline.
The goal isn’t to become the next version of another brand. The goal is to become the strongest version of your brand.
We break down the difference between studying the competition and becoming obsessed with the competition, why chasing someone else’s success can pull you away from your own vision, and how staying focused on your identity can become your greatest competitive advantage.
Your lane doesn’t have to look like theirs. Build it.

Thank You to the New Subscribers & Closing Remarks
What's good everybody? This is your boy D Money. We got another episode of the Lot of Fashion Podcast. Make sure that you like and subscribe. What we're gonna be talking about today is stopping you know yourself from comparing your journey to other entrepreneurs, other brands, and other corporations. Because at the end of the day, comparison, you know, distracts entrepreneurs from their true and own growth. You know, social media often, you know, slows and shows, you know, outcomes without showing the timelines in between. So you can't really judge, you know, somebody else's success based off of your own. You know? The illusion number one of overnight success. Most success takes, you know, years. Five, ten years max before you actually see, you know, real results of what the business can be. And most businesses can't even make it that long because they don't have the proper infrastructure to, you know, even make it long term. So the main thing is that you have to focus in on building a foundation the first few years in order so that way once you start to scale or start to be able to scale, you can, you know what I'm saying, be prepared for the test of time. Social media, you know, compresses those timelines, and you know, growth lose usually happens slowly. So, you know, the main thing is like, you know, like I said, build that foundation, you know what I'm saying? Take that time to, you know, build yourself internally as well, too. So that way, you know, you grow, you learn as much as you can about the business, so that way when you hire people to delegate different responsibilities, you know exactly, you know, what to do in those positions, what they need to do, and you know what I'm saying, what the results should be. Number two is focus in on your own lane. Comparison weakens execution, ultimately, you know, it weakens your vision as well, too, because nobody can compare to you. Businesses grow differently, and most businesses are often different anyway. They might have some similar variations to how they get things done, but ultimately it's a different entity. You feel me? Strategy, you know, should match goals. Feel me? If you don't know where you're going, how can you get there? Like, it's just that simple. Number three is measure progress. Progress isn't about always being public. Progress, you know, most of the time comes, you know, when the lights are off and nobody's there but you and maybe a few others that actually are trying to get a certain task or project done. You know, internal growth matters as well too. You gotta grow as a person each and every day in order for you know your dreams and goals to actually come to fruition. You feel me? You can't just tell people to do certain things and you not be an example of them. Discipline, you know, compounds those qualities. When you're able to, you know, double down, stand tall along what you're talking about, what you believe in, what you, you know, say is true, then you know, it actually means that you're a person with character, person with, you know, qualities that actually matter. So, you know what I'm saying? You just gotta tap into these small things in order to, you know, make sure that it means something for you. And that's really what it all, you know, takes, you know what I'm saying? Make sure that you guys check out our From the Mud collection, which is available on our website. Make sure you check out our you know spoken word album From the Mud, available on all streaming platforms, and make sure you check out the book on all book platforms and at your local library. Pretty much just talks about the you know pain, struggle, and you know, pressures it takes in order to create that transformation, you know, and success. Keep visualizing, I'm out.

The root series that we got going on right now. Um the tree pretty much talks about the beginning before dreams of rulers, what was before the brand, what did the environment teach me about clothing, creativity, survival, and identity?
