Now, Kris, what's the weather like here in Michigan right now? It is a couple of days after Valentine's Day 2021 It is very cold and lots of snow. Yes, I can attest that I've shoveled about six times already. So we are I was thinking of a topic that made us think of warmth and sunshine. So we are going to talk about swimming. Today we're going to look at all of the best resort pools at Walt Disney World. And I would say Kris, we are not pool people. Is that true? That is correct. So I had to get some help from our friends over at allears.net and the undercover tourists. I was actually surprised some of the ones that we're going to talk about today. We've stayed at these particular resorts but we never made it to the pool, which is kind of a shame.

So today we're going to go through what are considered by I looked at surveys where people have ranked their favorite pools we have gone to a few of these pools that are in here. And there's some that just sound really fun. I think we'll probably spend more time our daughter like swimming probably more than us. So we'll probably spend time at more than pools in the coming years. But first off, I think the creme de la creme of the Disney pools is stormalong Bay at Disney's yacht and Beach Club. And now for any of you that haven't been there this one, Kris Do you know what this this pool has a really cool feature that I don't think none of the other Disney pools have. He has a sand bottom floor. Wow. That is Yeah, so it's pretty cool. It has a lazy river. They have Whirlpool spas, they have a waterslide which of course a lot of the Disney resorts have so stormalong Bay at Disney's yacht and Beach Club is considered like the top pool. We've actually not stayed at yacht and Beach Club yet so I would be excited to be able to experience that one day. I think that pool would definitely justify a pool day for us or at least a couple hours at the pool. What are your thoughts? I agree we should definitely take out some time and try that sand bottom pool. Yeah, and I think the lazy river would be super fun to

okay Kris the next pool we I've stayed at the resort not been to the pool, but we did get some photos there. I'm going to ask you which resort did we get some photos near when we got our engagement photos done by Randy Chapman? Oh, I remember it's in between the Grand Floridian and the Polynesian? That would be the wedding Pavilion. So no, no, we did get pictures at the Polynesian but what was the second resort? We got engagement photos Downtown Disney. No, no means free Disney. Now what's that? What's the boardwalk Disney. That was our that was our vow renewal but our engagement photos at Wilderness Lodge at wilderness. Well there's Yeah, there's a picture.


There's a note I don't know you but copper Creek spring pool. And that one is pretty cool. It has it's heated. It has hot

In cold Whirlpool spas and it has a nice water slide that goes through the rock formations. We actually got some photos near the rock formation. I'll show you those pictures when we're done with this. So at Wilderness Lodge, the copper springs pool is also a top one. That really is a cool view of the lodge overlooks over to the water where you would take the boats over to Magic Kingdom in that so that's an awesome pool as well. Now Kristin mentioned the Polynesian, the lava pool there and I have been to this one. When I was staying there with a friend and her family. The lava pool at Disney's Polynesian is really people rave about that. The really cool thing there is they have the the big volcano and we see that a lot when we've eaten at ohana. You look out and you can see parts of that volcano over it. And then of course it has a waterslide we've walked by this one with a volcano. The Polynesian I do remember that? Yes, Kris has not stayed. Well, yes. You've that said yeah, you stayed at the Polynesian once but I have been to that pool and it is a very nice pool. And the next pool that we're going to look at this one we have not stayed at in a long time. At Coronado springs, we stayed over at the tower. But over at the main part of Coronado springs, you have the last city of cebolla pool. And this one is kind of cool, because it looks like it's a dig site where there's been like some archeological dig going on has a 50 foot pyramid. It has one of the longer water sides compared to any of the other and you know what is pretty cool about the Coronado springs pool, Kris, tell me it has the largest hot tub on property. Whoa, Okay, I'm gonna quiz you. Here's a good quiz.

Too many, never too many. Well, I mean, is that too many? 4521? Oh, that's it. That's the largest hot tub property. I've seen more than 21 people in.

away, why not? Yeah. So that one is a pretty cool one. And then I really think the pyramid is what taps off that one. Now moving over to the other side of property you go to that Disney's Animal Kingdom lodge that was zimi Springs pool. This one is kind of split into different sections because you have like kidani village and you have the jumbo house. And the pool is kind of in. This is a pool that's closer to the main Lodge. And this one is a zero depth entry point. So I think that would be cool. Especially if you have kids just be able to walk right into the water. It has a long water side as well. I just think it's kind of a cool feel. I like how that some of the pools like you have the sand bottom. And then this is a zero depth entry point. You have the largest hot tub you have kind of a wide variety variety of things at the different pools.

Okay, Kris. So what is one pool that we one resort where we've actually spent some time at the pools, Port Orleans? Yeah, so one of the top rated pools is old man Island at Port Orleans, Riverside, I will say that we probably spent our time more, there are smaller pools because it's such a bit large resort. They're small pools nestled between some of the buildings. And we've spent more of our time there. But oh man Island is in the center of the resort and it is an island. And there what's kind of cool is that it looks like it's an abandoned sawmill. And what happens is they have a big waterslide they have a small kids pool. They also one thing that I think is nice is they have hammocks that are around that you can lay back in, they have a playscape you can even do catch and release fishing from the island. So just a really cool space. I will say all men Island we probably only swim in a few times. But we've I spent more time sitting around the pool with people especially at our wedding and vow renewal and we had large groups of people. So the old man Island is a huge thing. Of course, Port Orleans Riverside is still closed right now. But that resort we do always enjoy because it does have the smaller pools spread throughout the resort when you come back later at night. Or maybe you just want a quiet time at the pool if just some alone adult time without a lot of kids those smaller pools also offer a great relaxation point because most families are going to go to old man Island and enjoy that.

Now an adjacent one that also gets a lot of love is that port Orleans French Quarter they have a cool pool. You will see that iconic sea serpents slide they have alligator statues. It's just a fun thing. We even when we take the boat to Disney Springs from Port Orleans, Riverside. You can see the pool it's just a fun escape for the pool.

And a lot of people like that one as well. Now, last but not least, we are going to talk about a new pool

at Disney's Riviera resort. And I would say this one looks super cool. And I would love to go there. Look at this one, Kris. It has like, though, it has, it looks like a European Riviera. It has all kinds of like more sophisticated things I would say. And the pool area just looks ornate, I guess would be the best word they have like elephants up on the top of them one thing, there's lots of water sprayers that shoot out. It's just a very could you use the word sophisticated for a pool, of course. So it's a more sophisticated pool. And it has like a column tower that the waterslide comes down from so just really fun. It also has a kid's area, interactive play area, some fountains and it's kind of like a Fantasia feel with the different statues and things that are part of that pool. So the Riviera pool, we haven't stayed at Disney's Riviera resort. But that one looks really awesome as well. And some honorable mentions for pools at the Caribbean Beach Resort that Windows dimauro pool also has a lot of love. People talk a lot about the Art of Animation resort, the big blue pool as well as the cozy cone pool. So those are some different ones that are available and out there that you can hopefully enjoy. And especially during this time. I mean, you might want to have a break back at the resort more so than in the past. So it's definitely worthwhile to check out those pools and I think looking at some of these I think we might need to have some pool time when we stay at some of these different resorts. What do you think? That'd be awesome. Yeah, so definitely take some time to check out these awesome pools when you are staying at one of these resorts on property. As I we mentioned some of these resorts are not open right now. But hopefully in the near future we can all check out all of these different resorts, pools, so I am excited to get our friends on the phone we're gonna have Kendra and Minnie on to share all about their business.

Hello, well of course we always want to know a little bit about what you enjoy at Disney. So if you eat tell us what are your favorite souvenirs to get when you're at the parks?

Oh my gosh. Okay, so I'm Minnie. And I am an artist. So one of my favorite kinds of souvenirs to get the parts where the autographs from the characters?

Yeah, so I used to sketch them out. And it would be a fun little memory to place in my books. And I just love seeing how they react to my drawings. Oh, nice. That's a cute idea. I know we did a home mat with as many characters as we could get when we last went for our daughter. So it's fun to see all the different variations in those signatures for sure. All right, you know, and you get to see all their personalities in them too. It's really cute. Exactly.

For me, well, I used to love getting ears from the park and I love to get the spirit jerseys. I was used to love taking a lot of Instagram pictures and stuff.

away. I have my own home now and the ears are kind of just a little piece of decoration. So now I like to find something that has a place in my home like throw blankets, and mugs. I have a plate from the most recent collection when I went visit the park last in February. I love it. It's it has to go off of painting and it's totally me and I really love that as very cool. Because I would love to get more. It's just I hope that they don't break in my suitcase on the way back. Right. Exactly. I know packing those is always sometimes I've had to ship stuff back because I just felt like I couldn't get it safe enough in my suitcase. So I totally understand that for sure. Now of course we want you to tell us tell have both of you tell us about your business and what are some of the products that you offer connected to Disney.

Oh, cool. So we are two Filipino ladies who own hollow hollow gifts. hollow hollow is actually a Filipino dessert. And when you translate that to English it means mix mix. Okay. Yeah, and with that meaning in our name, in our, in our products, we have a huge mix of everything. We have a something in common that we both love Disney. And we like to mix it up and have many crossovers with other passions that we have in pop culture.

Yeah, so I came up with the name because we wanted to make sure that it was something that had to do with our culture. So we're both Filipino and hello hello.

It's one of those known in our culture deserts. And like she said, it's called mix mix. So we're a mix of nerdy Disney and histologic things that just make people smile or laugh. There are a lot of ironic stuff. And you know, we'll see some other characters and other references to not just Disney. And we hope people enjoy that. Oh, for sure, yeah.

And so hopefully, people would see that when they see our site, they can, like take a peek in our little culture and bring some of our own Filipino fans onto the site as well. Very cool. It's within like, you know, what was the inspiration for you to start your business?

Well, we actually had just started, like talking to each other because we had met through the Disney community.

We knew that we're both on Instagram, we both realize you're both artists. And we knew looking at each other, we were Filipina, we have the same upbringings and the same culture, so have pretty similar humor. But when I moved away, it seemed like, I was far away from my friends. But when the pandemic started, we started talking to each other more often through video chat. And somehow, we had been laughing so much and joking about making products together and stickers and,

and October, we started talking seriously about starting a shop. And in November, it became a reality. And here we are now. Wow.

Yeah, we basically manifested that, honestly. Well, we heard from so many small shops that have started in the last year. It's just amazing. I think people are just really craving to have some of that Disney at home. And it's just been a huge explosions of shops just like yours. So it's super exciting to hear about.

Oh, definitely. I mean, I do have a degree in design. But I did pick up a quarantine skill for digital art. kyndra has like experience in business and design as well. And we saw that when we both had the same interest in both like Disney pop culture and all things nerdy, I thought it was a great match. Click like that. Now, of course we want to know then how do you think your products add Disney magic to your customers, and then of course to our listeners life?

Well, wait, forgive me and other things as things that make people smile and laugh. And regardless if you see it from afar, or if you see it up close, we just want to have that same kind of laughter in your life. You know, this pandemic has brought a lot of people down. But just having something small, like a sticker or a magnet, or probably some apparel that will be coming out soon, you will bring some smiles to wherever you go. Everyone has different passions in different areas and different qualities of that. And if you can fit your sticker onto a water bottle, or something like someone might see it, someone might like it, and it will make them smile. And that's our main goal.

Basically, I just thought of that crazy idea one night and I drew those like essays. I don't know if you used to draw those little essays in your notebook.

one of our newer stickers that came out which is Baba from avatar, because he came out in on Netflix, but I think one of my favorite ones that so happens to be kind of it's goofy. And literally, yeah,

we did an Ariana Grande a reference art to that and we had to convince me my friends had convinced me to make it okay to make it a sticker. And so my human asked me about it. And I love how it came out as a sticker. It's definitely really goofy. Yeah, and something that

I know. That's the fun thing about your designs. When you look at him. It just kind of puts a smile on your face. And it's just fun to see the different things that you've came up with.

Typically, we ship out from Oregon. So I'm the one who has all the products on hand and they probably come out it depends if it's coming in a package or if it's going on mail. Okay, it says, like with a stamp, but typically about like four or five days. depends on where you live. Well, yeah, that's for sure right now. And then do you have some new things that you want to just talk about this and any different products that you might have coming out?

We do have apparel coming out. We do have shirts, and we have a play off of what I used to do. I call them pocket pals. And I had discussed with men if we wanted to do something similar to it. And we did something almost exactly the same. So they're basically just a cute little friend of yours in the pocket. And it's taken, we'll take them around. And we have worked so hard on them, tweaking them, making sure that they were perfect. And there's a lot of there's a lot of ironic stuff, especially in one of our few alien designs.

Okay, I thought I knew there weren't any at the resorts but I thought maybe it was a trick that there might be one at Wide World of Sports, but that's a new one. I didn't really look that far into but yeah, there are zero resort indoor pools. Yes, I knew that. Good. The next question. Okay.

What temperature are all the pools set at? Oh, they're all at the same all at the same temperature.

Oh, in Florida, people kind of get if it was Michigan, I would go with the lower one. I'm gonna say Florida. Let's go with 72 you're off by 10 degrees. Well, are they 82? According to the internet, wow. All the pools are set at 82 degrees. So again, if it's 95, or if it's 65. Well, that's quite toasty. Very toasty. Well, thank you so much for that, Kris.
