Yes. So before we get to Danielle's interview, we are going to talk about on today's show, the best quick service restaurants for dinner. And a few episodes back, we talked about the best breakfast options. And I thought when you're looking for dinner to me if you're on when the dining plans return if you're on a quick service dining plan, or if you're just on a budget wanting to still have a decent meal at night, it's nice to have some of those options of where you could get something besides chicken fingers in hamburgers, right? Yes. Although we will talk about some more unusual hamburgers during during the show. So we're going to start out with Magic Kingdom kind of where we tend to start a lot. And in Magic Kingdom, there's a couple of different options we're going to look at. And actually I will say that typically there's more options, but some of the restaurants have curved back. There are menus since ever since the slow reopening. So this list would change that we're recording right now in September 2020. As you're looking down the road, there are some things that might be added back on the list. One example is cosmic rays cafe they had a huge menu prior to the pandemic and right now they have a very limited menu so they didn't make our list. But the one place that did make our list which has been a favorite for a long time of ours, and I'm not a seafood person Kris is that correct? That is correct. But I still like this place. This is Columbia harbor house. And then of course is in Liberty Square and they just have some unusual things that you can't typically find your usual theme park fare. And the first thing they have they have a lobster roll. And I've had a lot of I'm not a lobster I'm not really into much lobster but I've had a lot of people say that it's quite good. And they have a lot of other options. They have grilled shrimp, they have grilled salmon, so if you're somebody that's watching a little bit about what you eat, they have platters that have shrimp and chicken strips and fish. They have a couple of different salads that are quite tasty the one the harbor salad you can get it with or without chicken and it has apples and onions it has a nice apple cider vinegar at that kind of gives you just something nice that's a little bit different. I think when you're looking for either a less expensive meal or just something to eat while you're on the go. That is a great option and Columbia harbor house is still offers some really great options and in fact we're going in a couple of weeks I wouldn't mind eating lunch or dinner there Sounds like a plan. Now again, right now I feel like the best quick service options are limited. Live Limited at Magic Kingdom. So we're going to spend more of our time in some of the other parks. We're gonna move over to Epcot, my personal favorite. And again, here's there's kind of an honorary mention at Epcot. Just like I mentioned at Magic Kingdom. Typically, I would mention Sunshine, sunshine seasons fair, and over at the land. But right now their menu has been limited. They're don't always have all of the stations open. So we're keeping them off our list right now. Instead, we're going to head over to the world showcase. And we have a couple different options we're going to look at. The first is in Mexico, and we eat at this quick service option pretty frequently. Now that that's la Cantina, de Sena and gal, and they have lots of great options. So they have a grilled chicken meal. They have every kind of taco you could want. They have beef tacos, chicken tacos, fish tacos, they have empanadas that are served with a concave so I had those last time we've been there they have a nachos. I think you've got nachos there before

I have I you know, I think this is one of the better quick service. Yeah, I don't want to be overly critical, but just for the price you pay. And we might this might be jumping ahead a little bit. I just don't think the quick service food is all that good.

No, that's why you really want to when you're looking for an option, you want to seek out some of these better options

presented by the police in Mexico. If I had to pick especially magic, I would go there just because I think you get a little more food. I think the ride is a lot better. But it just seems like the fried things.

It's the same old same it just yeah,

there should be a Disney standard. I'm not I'm not asking for gourmet. It doesn't need to be perfect, but it can be better.

Vanessa Ferguson  6:41  
That's true. And right now you're just really limited with the menus being cut back a little bit and some of the options not always open. Another one, which just has been a long time since we've eaten here. But hopefully while you may or may not remember Kris doesn't always remember that cat zero grill in the Japan pavilion has a really great variety as well. Do you remember eating in Japan before? I mean, I think this is probably seven or eight years ago. So one of the things that's nice is they have a sushi menu, they have ramen noodle dishes, they have even some salad options, but they have a lot of different bowls with served with rice. They have several different curry and Tiriac options. I would say that I like this one a lot as well in the world showcase. It gives you some good variety. And it's nice ambience as well. I think most of the quick service in Epcot has that going for it if you're hitting any of the places in the world showcase. They just have a nice feel to them. And I accidentally skipped as we're going around another one. That's a new option. And I just had just kind of a brief encounter. I didn't eat a full meal here. But when I was with my friend in March, we went to the Regal Eagle smokehouse. And that's in the American adventure Pavilion. And if you listen to us for a long time, Kris, what happened at the American adventure Pavilion. We got married. Yeah, that's where we were married. Not in the Regal Eagle smokehouse in the rotunda is what I wanted, but denied that wasn't even there. Then it was Fife and drama. So they have barbecue. Of course, they have they're known for their ribs coleslaw, they have four different regional sauces, so you can pick what kind of sauce you like. A lot of people have said great things about it, I have a friend who has some allergies, and she was able to find some things that she could eat there. Um, so those are, that's a great option as well in the world showcase. So that kind of rounds out what we're looking at, over at Epcot. Now we're going to head over to Hollywood Studios. And if we were in times where everything was open, there might be some other options. And even if you were looking for something for lunch, I would suggest going over to Woody's lunchbox but their menu is pretty limited. So for right now we're just going to stick with in this is pretty surprising to me. But their menu has improved quite a bit and over the years. It's better at certain times than others. But right now the ABC commissary has some great options. And it is really nice because it has a little bit of different things. They have a curry rice bowl with shrimp, a buffalo chicken, grilled chicken sandwich, pork carnitas tacos, and a lot of different things. So some shrimp tacos and a Mediterranean salad, which I think you would like a lot, Kris. Yes, yeah. So they have a few different options. And it's kind of in a good central location when you're at Hollywood studios, depending on where you're moving through. There's other restaurants there that people mentioned, like I had said about what he's lunchbox there's also some over and galaxy's edge, but they just have such a limited menu. When we're looking at dinner options, they wouldn't make the top of my list. So right now, we would highly suggest ABC commissary in Hollywood Studios. And then from there, we're going to move over to animal kingdom where we have a few more suggestions. And again, hopefully these lists will continue to grow as more Restaurants expand their menu back and continue to open up. Now an animal kingdom, the first one that comes to mind is flame tree barbecue. And we've eaten there quite a few times. We sure have. So one of the nice things is kind of like regal Eagle, and they have a smoke a lot of barbecue options. They have ribs, slow smoked chicken pulled pork. When I was there in March, I had a baked macaroni and cheese with pulled pork. So in that was quite tasty, and it's pretty feeling pretty good options. One of the things whether you're a dessert lover, or you'd like to get alcohol, they have both there. Recently, they've had quite a rate wide range of pretty awesome cupcakes, which I'm going to talk about a couple of those and they also have alcoholic beverages. So if you're looking to have a nice dinner and you want to have a drink with it, that's one of the few quick service where you can also get an alcoholic beverage. And their cupcakes do rotate. I'm going to tell you what they have right now as of September 2020, which probably in just a couple of weeks, these will change but this just gives you a feel of what they have. These sounded pretty good, right? The one is a flamingo badge cupcake. It's a coconut cupcake with exotic fruit filling, coconut frosting, strawberry pearls and a white chocolate medallion of a flamingo for the Wilderness Explorer badge. That sounds pretty good. What

Okay, well, let's see. If you would like tell me what you think about that. She might like this. A vanilla cupcake with grape soda flavored custard filling in grape soda flavored frosting and then edible chocolate grape soda badge.

so there is the grape soda badge cupcake, and they have the Flamingo badge cupcake. So that's just a sampling of what they offer those rotate. Every I mean really every few weeks, you can tend to see something different there. So flame tree barbecue. And of course it's right kind of near that central hub before you're going to head back towards the front entrance. So it's a good place depending on where you're headed next in the park. Another great option is over in Pandora the Send to Lee canteen. And this has a great atmosphere as well as it has some really interesting food options. what's hot is we've not eaten here, but we've had some of the food. That's a good trivia for you, Kris, how have we had food from a restaurant that we've not eaten? Probably through catering or something? Yeah, through our tasting for our vitorino we had some options. From there, we were looking at some of the breakfast options, but we didn't end up using them. But we have eaten some of their food and it's come highly recommended from some other people I know. And that is they have a couple of different really cool options. Number one, they're kind of really known for their cheeseburger steamed pads, they are instead of they have all the toppings of a cheeseburger, and they're kind of a nice fluffy pod. A lot of people say they're really great. And so that's something that you might want to try. And what a lot of people go there for are their customizable bowls because you can pick a variety of meats and toppings and they even have plant based options if that's something for you. So they have things as basic as grilled chicken and beef options with spicy red and wine vinegar sauce. They also have a wood grilled chicken thighs that are in a garlic oil, olive oil. They have a chili garlic shrimp ball, would you like chili garlic stuff I should do. So they have a shrimp bowl that has a crunchy vegetable slaw and some different things. They have a grilled beef bowl, a chopped wood grilled chicken bowl, just a lot of different options that I think that if your family has different tastes that they might want, you can have somebody get that cheeseburger pod, somebody can have one of the like the tofu baseballs and somebody else could have like the chili garlic shrimp bowl. So there's a lot of different options that are a little bit more unusual compared to your standard theme park fair. Now that rounds out the options that we're looking at at the parks. And I'm going to give one option over at Disney Springs and probably some people would argue some of the other ones. We haven't tried a lot of the new quick service at Disney Springs. But for instance, I know a lot of people talk about chicken guy because they like all the toppings. We also eat at Earl sandwich but that isn't really something that strikes me for dinner. We're going to talk about de luxe burger. And really this has been people rave about their burgers, they just say they're so fantastic and out of this world that they just are the best burgers on property. And like Kris mentioned some of the standard fare like hamburgers, hot dogs, chicken fingers is not that outstanding. So having something like Deluxe Burger Burger is something that I think is a really great thing. people suggest to get the combos where you get the burgers and fries and you can get like a two person combo. They do have plant based offerings and they also rotate some special burgers. I'm gonna tell you for instance like right now always check out their menu right now one of their special burgers is a triple letter burger. Of course, triple patties and then it has this sounds good. Chris, what do you think about this one has Swiss cheese Black Forest ham pork belly with fried potato sticks and ketchup aoli. Let's do it. Yeah, so that's the one of the specialty ones right now. They also have a southern burger, a barbecue burger buffalo chicken sandwich and El Diablo burger, which sounds really good that has a cerrito and a beef blend with fried banana peppers, pepper, jack, grilled onion and chipolte A mayonnaise they have just kind of classic standard cheeseburgers. So if you're at Disney Springs, I highly suggest checking out de luxe burger, it's a little bit more of a hardier meal. So that's why we would categorize that as something that would be great for dinner. So hopefully this gives you some options whether or not moving down the road, you are doing one of the quick service dining plans. Or if you are on a budget and looking just for a great dinner that was within your budget, you can check out one of these quick service options. Now before we get into the details about all the awesome products you offer, we want to hear a little bit about what you enjoy at Disney. And so right now the icebreaker that we've been asking people is what is your favorite Disney Resort? Or if you haven't stayed on property yet? Where would you like to stay?

Danielle  17:09  
That's a great question. My favorite resort is the contemporary. Mainly because when I used to take my daughter Maddie where the shop is named after Disney, when she was two, three and four, we would always say at the contemporary because my parents would go with us and we would say at the Bailey's power, and we wish we would share like a two bedroom suite. And I have so many wonderful memories with my husband, my parents and Maddie just like watching the fireworks for Magic Kingdom. Oh, nice. Yes. And so it's always just kind of in my favorite and wash. Last October, we took a family trip. It was the first time my son Benny had stayed at that hotel. And we save the contemporary, the four of us and it was they upgraded as we like had some pixie dust sprinkled on us. And it was nice and wonderful. And it's always in my favorite hotel.

That's really great. And that's actually one that's the only Magic Kingdom resort that we've not stayed at yet. So that was really great to hear about your experience. So very nice. Yes, no,

we love it. We always have a great time. And we're there because they have a cafe that contempo Cafe and they have like really great shopping

and for sure, yeah, we always make sure to go there, whether we're eating or shopping. So for sure, definitely. Now, of course, we want to have you tell us all about your business. And what are some of the products you offer connected to Disney and kind of beyond?

Danielle  18:39  
Yeah, so I started I will start from the beginning. I started out just making replacement watchbands for my daughter and I that were a Disney theme because adding a little touch of Disney to our everyday life was kind of what we needed during the pandemic. Yes, yes. So, we found that it really uplifted us and it gave us like something fun and exciting to talk about each day like oh, what do you want to wear for your watchbands today or which design should we do today? And and then I started giving them to friends and I made an Etsy and it just kind of and I made an Instagram and it just kind of snowballed from there. But I also had a 3d printer because my husband had a 3d printer. So we started designing your holders that are yours up on the wall. Yes. And that came about because we are a military family and putting a hole in the wall with nails. For my ears up with each house was kind of becoming a pain. We have shore summer moves in a row and if anyone has seen my Instagram, we've lived in 15 houses in 17 years.

So I'm using just a simple command ship to get the IRS On it off with each move. Just kind of simplified, but added the touch of magic also that like I kind of need with each day. So I made these 3d printed year holders I make the charms that go and watch the end and in the magic dance for Disney World that match certain designs that I've done. And then I also can do all sorts of woodworking like Christmas time we do a lot of ornaments we do a lot of cutting boards, like people will ask about like a grandmother or great aunts recipe that they have handwritten to be engraved on a cutting board.

a lot of Disney but also a lot of not Disney. Sure.

Kind of a big mix.

Yes, it's everything.

Thank you. And your you mentioned your your, your military background, and you mentioned that you have a special arrangement with the military can talk more about that?

Danielle  21:01  
Yes, so my husband, Joshua is a graduate of West Point, United States Military Academy at West Point. So when I first started the business, we also wanted to make West Point stuff. And so we reached out to them to get special permission, and they license me. So I can officially use less points, crusts, phrases, and logos in anything that I make. Wow.

super exciting. So what are some of the products that you make where you use the West Point?

Danielle  21:33  
Well, we can make. So there's a big game every December called Army, Navy, or West Point plays Annapolis, and we a lot of watchbands are sold around then that I make a lot of coasters for spouses and mom's clubs. And I also can make cutting boards, I saw a lot of cutting boards, I'm looking around my office right now. A lot of ornaments, a lot of unit ornaments, military units will do like an ornament gift for soldiers and their families. For to have. So that whenever they move on with each installation, they have like an A piece of where they came from. Okay, and so I, I help with a lot of unit ornaments. That's not what's quite specific. Sorry.

Do beyond West Point, then you do a broad range of military stuff, then.

Yes, I try. And I shake up the Instagram algorithm when I when I switch it up. Sometimes with the hip, sometimes it's a match.

Now, could you tell us how do you think now you've talked about the military products and then the Disney products? How do you think your products can add Disney magic to our listeners lives?

Danielle  22:52  
Yes. So I'm glad you asked that, because that's super important. Because part of my goal with Mattie on Main Street was to bring happiness and joy to your day somehow, whether that just looking down at your wrist, and seeing a Disney inspired design and just either triggering like a special memory that you have with a friend or family member or like your favorite movie to get you through the day. Is is super important to me. And it matters. So little pieces like that is what I'm going for with each one of my products.

Now what are some of I know you have like Park inspired designs and different things like if you were looking at your replacement bands, what are some of the different Disney inspired designs that you have?

Danielle  23:41  
Yeah, so on my website, Nadia main street.com, I have collections at the top and then when you when you hit that collections tab, you'll get a whole bunch of different designs and I just put out some Halloween design nice specifically for boo bash on East Coast and Boogie bash on the west coast. I have some of my favorite castle inspired designs where it's the East East Coast castle with the West Coast castle and they have the fireworks and the multi balloon. Mouse generic mouse head balloon. My husband, my husband designed those balloons for another one of our designs, and it just kind of stuck and it took off and everyone loved it. So that's one of my most popular one. And I think that's the one that I like to wear every day. The most happiness. But under collections castle inspired you'll get all sorts of my designs with the castle on there. Nice, nice.

What I just think is neat is just because so many people have these, you know smartwatches and what you have to offer really because a lot of the colors or your colors are black, white, whereas you you know, you allow so much personalization and your designs are just so you know unique and inventive. That it really allows us to take that standard smartwatch and really shake it up.

Danielle  25:05  
Thank you. That's really nice. Thank you. I appreciate that. Yeah, I mean, that's kind of the idea. My husband wears a uniform every day. And so he can't do that. But he has that land army green band, and he's able to wear a non colored Mandalorian design because he loves Star Wars and the Mandalorian. Oh, nice. So it's little things like that, like when he's away right now. So when he's away, same for him, he can like look down on his watch. And he says that he's always like, Oh, I'm so proud of you. You know, every time I look at my watch, I'm so proud and things like that.

Oh, for sure. And then you know, with that, in a lot of people, you know, they want to have a special Disney memory. And maybe in this case, it could be in their smart, you know, watch being roughly what is the turnaround time for orders.

Danielle  25:52  
So right now, I'm getting them out pretty quick, because my kids are at school. So I have time today to work on this, right, if you don't add color to your band, I can get your band out within like one to two days. But if you do want color added to your band, because it's an oil marker, I like to let it sit for at least 24 hours before I clean it. So about three or four days on those. And then for any 3d prints, depending on how many orders are in front of that one, I'm trying to get those out also, in under a week, three to four days for those as well.

Now, I know they're not your Disney products, per se. But you mentioned about like the cutting boards in that. And as we look towards the holidays, I'm sure those take a little longer because of the customization. If I were wanting to get a cutting board done, what are the turnaround times with those types of products?

Danielle  26:42  
Yeah, so I'm glad you asked because they do have a little bit more. Those are more two to three weeks just because depending on the the wording that I have to copy and fix, because a lot of those old recipes like the letter don't connect and so I have to go in and connect them all and then the plants can take hours with the machines. So what in products are more of a two, two week plus turnaround time?

Right? And then that means that our listeners should start thinking about the holidays already because you want to get make sure you get one of your awesome products to be able to have

Yes, yes, it's about that time. September is when the holidays really really start. And so if you are thinking of something like that definitely come to me in September if you want it in enough time to give out as gifts or just to have for sure.

Like do you mean like just isn't the first the second or the world or the world

the world? The first second or third busiest restaurant in the world? I'm gonna go with number four. For wolf four wasn't

an option because it's not an option. It's actually the third busiest restaurant in the world behind an international McDonald's. The world's largest McDonald's in Orlando. And then of course, cosmic rays.

Wow. And Isn't it ironic that out of the top three tour in North the Orlando Yes.

And I this thing This fact is from our friends at Disney dining, calm.

Wow. Yeah. I had always heard that. That was quite a busy restaurant. But I didn't realize it was the third busiest in the world. You said, wow. Yeah. And hopefully they start offering more of their options for some of their food options because it That is something that a place that we usually spend some go and eat at. Now, of course, we are going to end with our wisdom from Walt quote. And this one I just thought was kind of nice about, I'm thinking towards the 58th. And as we start thinking about all those things that Disney means to all of us. And it's, here's the quote, we're all proud of the honors that many groups around the world have given us. And we're even more proud that the public, whether in theaters at Disneyland or in their homes, continues to express faith in the kind of family entertainment we produce. And that's what we enjoy about Disney is just that, how it brings people together from all walks of life and how it's a really a great vacation for families.
