Now on today's show, we are going to be talking about food again. And if you are not a meat eater, you probably won't want it you might want to fast forward to Lindsay and Holly right now because we are going to be talking on one of my personal favorite types of food. And that is where to get the best steak dinners on property. Yes. Now we've been to quite a few of these places. But there are some that are now on my list. Since doing the research for this show. We're going to talk about it in three categories like we've done with a lot of things, we're going to look at the parks, the resorts, and then finally at Disney Springs. And I will say this list isn't comprehensive. I just tried to do a combination of our experiences combined with some different lists that different websites have to kind of give you a good mix. There are some that probably would have made this list pre pandemic but I feel like they've gone down a little bit would like be our guests. I also used to love the state, good ohana. Those things are not the best as of right now. But we're going to talk about what are the best ones that you can get in 2022. And we're going to start out at the parks and this is a place that we've been the last few times and we're actually going there again this trip and that's mama Melrose at Disney Hollywood Studios. I have no idea of where it's in that back corner by where there used to be a Christmas store past the Muppets. I just, we just ate

this. So Mama Melrose is an Italian restaurant and they have great pizzas and pastas and things but one of the things that is really good there is the chard strip steak and I'm going to show you some pictures Kris and we're going there in a couple of weeks so you'll get to refresh your memory. Wonder if they're charged strip steak. One of the nice things that I think is really awesome is I like when steak is paired with a really good start and they have a for cheese macaroni as pancetta it has nice butter and then the steak itself has a wine reduction. It's just really good. And if you have picky eaters in your family that just want like pizza, they have really good pizza and you can get yourself a nice steak. They're really great about accommodating allergies. I have a friend who has quite a few food allergies and they're really great about a calming those. So Mama Melrose is one of our top picks at the parks. Our second pick at a park is over at Epcot. And I know there's some debate late Usually about the quality but at least the last times that we have been there Atlas Lea it in Epcot and Canada and the Canada pavilion. They have really good steak options but the top two ones that I would say are the filet mignon that comes with a mushroom risotto. It has a truffle butter sauce. That is really, really good. And a lot of people also rave about their ribeye. I'm not a ribeye person. Do you like ribeye, or do you have a preference?

I don't like it, put it on the plate. I'll eat it you'll

eat any steak and the ribeye in there macaroni and cheese. I've gotten the macaroni and cheese with some other steaks there is really awesome. The one thing in that area if you've not been it almost feels like a wine cellar because you're down in when you when you go in you it has like the stone walls and everything like that. has kind of a neat ambiance. They have a good New York strip steak that's that good. There they that comes with a potato Agron that is super tasty that we've had a couple of times. The one nice thing about this is they have some fun desserts, some good desserts, and it's just kind of a nice thing. They have the beer cheese soup. They also have nice pretzel rolls. We had the soup and the rolls that are vow renewal. Delicious. Yes. And that's always something you can get a tasting of the fillet, usually during food and wine. And so it gives you a chance if you haven't gotten a reservation you can test it out. I know when I was there food and wine. Recently I was able to try that out. I will say we live really close to Canada and no offense to any of our Canadian friends out there. All offensively is not that good in Canada but Atlas Lea the meat is good crate you know

I lived in the town next to the Canadian border. And it was just kind of a known thing that their food just like their Canadian Grade A was would be like America grade C it just was not the same.

He grew up very near the Canadian border. So that is some great options in Canada Atlas Lea. Now moving over to the resorts. Actually most of our options are at the resort. First we have one that we've not been to we have stayed at this resort at the dolphin resort is shoeless Steakhouse. And I'm going to play dumb here. Shula is some sort of sports person, isn't it?

Yeah, he was the last coach to coach an undefeated team in the NFL.

What team was that? Okay, this should have been the trivia should have. So Kris just filled us in on something of who Shula is Sheila Steakhouse. And that makes sense, and it's at the dolphin

So the steak house is supposed to have some of the best steaks on property. In fact, urban tastebuds is one of the websites that I looked at, they claim that they have the best steak on property that the ribeye at Shula's is amazing. And one of the things is there as you can get the different sides. And they have a lot of different great options. So if you are at Epcot or at Hollywood studios, it's super easy, you can take the boat over and go to the dolphin or if you're staying at the dolphin, try out the ribeye, it is a little bit more expensive, but it's great for an fancy night out or if you're celebrating something. So consider going into a Shula's because not just urban taste, but several websites have ranked it really high and that is definitely on my steak bucket list if there would be such a thing to go to Shula's and taste one of their steaks because it's supposed to be quite tasty. Now another restaurant that we went to just a few years ago we'll see if Kris remembers this one to Lido at Grand destino tower, so technically Toledo, Tampa Steak and Seafood they have so they're really known for their fillet, their Manhattan fillet it has kind of a nice vinegar. It has a potato puree, some forest mushrooms and a date jam and sherry vinegar ret and I will say that not only is the state good there, but the view is really awesome too. So if you get a chance to go to Grand Testino Tower just to try out the ambiance of the restaurant. I think it's if you go at night in particular like later when it's dark. You have great views of the parks. I just really enjoyed that restaurant. We've only been there once but did you enjoy that restaurant too? It was awesome. Now and we stayed at the tower and I will highly recommend I thought the rooms at Grand destino tower were very nice as well, especially for a moderate resort. Now moving over kind have really far over to Animal Kingdom you have Jenko that cooking place and they are known for their filet mignon. I have some friends that rave by it. It has a really awesome macaroni and cheese there seems to be a macaroni and cheese theme Do you notice that Kris steaks that you're not American cheese guy though

Oh, eat it but I don't gravitate towards it. I think it also it's, you can add a lot of stuff to a very simple, it's just noodles to cheeses. That's true. But you know, you make it look fancy and people think it is fancy. Well, the

macaroni and cheese at Kinkos is a four cheese macaroni and cheese. And it comes with rainbow cauliflower. And the thing that I hear makes that this steak really good is it has a chocolate red wine glaze, which sounds quite tasty. I've eaten at some of the other restaurants at Animal Kingdom but haven't had a chance to eat at G Coast yet. So if you have I'd love to hear about it. I know some friends who love it a lot. Another one of the resorts that has a great steak is at the California grill. And that of course is over at the contemporary I would be interested to see if they're getting a run for their money with a new restaurant that's in the resort as well. But at California grill they also have a fillet it's an oak fired fillet just like an Chico's it's Oh grilled. It's supposed to be quite tasty as well. Now, one place that we've been quite a few times I know I've been a lot with my family Kris and I've been several times as well as yachtsman steakhouse at the Yacht Club. This is one of my personal favorites. When my family used to go at mother's day all of the time. We ate quite a few Mother's Day meals at yachtsman Steakhouse. And one thing that I think is great for there is they have some really awesome side dishes. And it's not just mac and cheese, Kris, they have some other dishes as well. And we've eaten that yachtsman, I'm sure and it's always been a great meal. And the nice thing is, it's a good break. If you are at Epcot or Hollywood studios, it's an easy walk over from Epcot or now with Hollywood Studios. You can take the Skyliner over you could walk or you could take the boat over. Now they have a couple of different states that are ranked pretty high by a lot of people. I've had personally had they have a New York strip steak that has a pepper, pepper corn brandy sauce, and I've had that that's quite tasty. Another one that I've not had that a lot of people say is just top notch is their signature steak is a 21 day dry, aged 18 ounce Kansas City strip steak. And where I think adds a lot to their steaks here is that they have a wide variety of side dishes. They do have a mac and cheese crisp but they have a truffle macaroni and cheese. But here comes some things that you enjoy a lot they have. They're known for some quite tasty asparagus.

You love a spirit of beets. No, they don't. They don't have any beats but they have creamed spinach. Do you? Are you do you like cream spinach?

It's not common in my diet, but I'm sure all you eat most things.

Yeah, that's true. They have really good mushrooms. Their mushrooms are quite tasty. I've had them a lot. And if you want something a little bit more like meat and potatoes kind of thing. They're truffle fries that are housemade are really good as well. So the nice thing there is it's easy access from the parks that has a wide variety of things. Because some of these when you look at like going to Animal Kingdom lodge that's not the most easily accessible or to Lido isn't the most easily accessible, accessible. But yachtsman steakhouse is really easy to get to even if you're not staying at the Yacht Club. You have great access from two of the parks as well. Now rounding out our tour of stakes is at Disney Springs. And this is a chain so I debated about putting that on, Kris would probably have not put a chain restaurant on. No, but I haven't had a lot of great steaks. Yeah, in Disney Springs. We've had so many new restaurants in the last few years. But S T K. Orlando is supposed to have some great steaks, people say that really what makes the best steaks there is the sauce selections. So a lot of people though, say that some of the other STK locations are a little bit better. But most of the time they have pretty consistent, good quality steaks no matter what you get there. So if you're out shopping or just having a night at Disney Springs, it's a great opportunity to have a nice meal there as well. So if you are a meat lover and you like to eat steak a lot, this gives you a wide range of options. And I think most of these steak houses also give you a chance there's other things on the menu it just if it has a nice steak typically it's going to be a little bit nicer environment so you can have a nice evening out Get dressed up. We've went to we always like to try to have one nice night out when we're on our trips, and we've had some evenings at some of these places. So I think it gives you a wide variety of things. And if you were to say, Kris, if you had to pick if you had to pick a ribeye, yes, a strip or a filet, what would you pick? A flea? Flea? Yeah, I think, see, here's my problem. People would probably argue I ordered my steak well done, which I know is a horrible

See, I like fillet fish. So I have a positive conclusion. I really don't care. It's like, Here's your food. Okay. I mean, I'll eat it. You like steak though? Yeah, but I like fillet fish better than all of those. And so I would be like, hopefully I have a positive connotation. So

well, we'll have to do I think it'd be hard to do a whole show on fish sandwiches. Oh, my goodness. So hopefully you can try some of these or maybe you've already tried some of them as well. So we really enjoy meals more than snacks. We're actually going Ohana tonight. We're very excited about that. Oh, so happy. My favorite snack is probably the coconut dole whip.

So underrated and it's absolutely delicious. Mine is popcorn. I couldn't eat it all day every day.

Now, if you could each tell us a little bit about your business and what products you offer connected to Disney.

So we started out, basically wanting to have a little reminder of magic in our homes every day. And that's what we aim to do. We like understated little hidden Mickeys on things and little ears just basically daily reminders of people's place.

Now, could you tell us a little bit about some of the products that you do offer?

Lindsey and Holly  17:34  
Yeah, so all of our signs and home decor are custom. We do do like open orders once a month. We post everything on our Instagram. We're very active on there. And we also like to answer messages. So if anybody wants to ask us a question, please feel free. But um, so we'll do like monthly openings with new products. We're actually getting ready to try to launch some countdowns. No, you can count down based on every park. We do. We'd love to unwelcome home door hangers, we actually just did a really fun custom rose and crown sign for our customer. Very well. I'm sorry, go ahead.

No. So if I had an idea of something, I can just reach out and you kind of have that ability to create whatever is needed.

Yes. Yes, absolutely. We love doing custom orders. So if anybody has an idea that they need help, like bringing to life or if they have questions about how something can work, we work from there.

Now what are your signs made out of wood? Are they made out of vinyl? What sorts of material

and acrylic? No, there's no vinyl involved. Everything has that 3d element to it. So it's not they look hearty, they look sick. They're not like flat, they're 3d.

In with it, what was the inspiration for you to create this 3d art that people can put on their walls at home.

Lindsey and Holly  18:55  
So we've always wanted to make things we haven't always executed them the best but we've really grown in that that manner. But we've always wanted to do something like this and last year, you know, or two years ago really when COVID hit we both had babies within five weeks of each other. And we were home and we said you know what if it was ever the time to do it, let's do it now.

Was it Disney's your first inspiration when you started your business or did Disney kind of evolve into what you focus on?

Disney is what we wanted to start with from the get go.

Now that ties into what we always like to find out is how do you think your brought your products at Disney magic into your customers lives.

Lindsey and Holly  19:37  
So just being able to walk past you know sign on your wall everyday that says Choose magic, you know with a little Mickey head or walking into your door every day to a door hanger that says welcome home with you know your hidden ears on it. It's just little reminders of your happy place without being too in your face like there's not a character on your wall.

Now what are some of your favorite designs? I know you talked to about a couple of them already. But Do either of you have some favorites?

Choose magic is probably one of my favorites, because we had come up with that in the beginning. And we just went with it. And I think that really kind of sparked a lot of our ideas and just kind of went from there.

And now when you mentioned colors, or they do have just natural wood colors, I know you mentioned acrylic, do you have the ability to customize what sort of colors are with the signs,

we can do literally any color that you want any stain combo colors, anything from metallics to pastels, literally anything.

Now, if we were wanting to have something made for our home, or maybe get something as a gift, I know you mentioned your shop opens at certain times, like how early should I think about putting in an order and what's kind of that turnaround time.

Lindsey and Holly  20:49  
So our turnaround time right now is about three to four weeks, depending on your customization. And if we need to go back and forth with the design process. With our shop openings, we we try to list five or six different items every month. And we try to keep the shop open from Friday to Tuesday. Okay, unless we get a crazy abundance of orders, then we will shut down but we keep we keep a lot of communication open normally on our Instagram stories will say hey, we've gotten this many orders, we're gonna go ahead and have to close early or get your order in before tonight. And we're always open to messages and custom orders. So if something would happen and you missed your item, send us a message and we can always see what we can do.

No Do you do I think I remember seeing some holiday designs that you do do release then certain designs at certain times of the year.

We try to keep ahead of the holidays. We have a few easter things that will be coming out soon. Christmas we'd like to do a Christmas in July. And then again as it gets closer to actual Christmas. We're actually about to get a bigger, faster, more incredible laser. So hopefully we can be putting out more things. And our turnaround time can shorten when that happens, which we're very excited about as well. Very cool.
