Welcome. Welcome to the mock draft episode of the Pine Pony Podcast. As always, it's me the og, hanging out with my buddy, Mr. Joshua Persia. What's happening? Fantasy uncle. Howdy, howdy. Glad to be back. This is, I think, the third year now that we're, that we're hitting draft season. Absolutely love it. I love getting to talk about all the incoming prospects and, basically get to make shit loads of, whether it's about the players themselves, they're gonna get drafted, what team's gonna do what I think it's all just really fun, exciting times. Glad to be here, to be part of it. How you doing, my friend? Oh, fantastic. Fantastic. All right. Well, I mean, let's, you know, without further ado, we're here for one thing and one thing only. Let's do the mock draft. Let's do the, the pine pony mock draft. So we will we'll read off. A couple players at a time, and then, you know, if we have any discussion points on that. If not, we will just keep it moving and you know, go through it. So, so up first you got the Titans they're, they're gonna take cam board. That's a brainer. The Browns, I, I struggled with this pick man. I kind of had to leave them blank for a long time and then I plugged in. Jalen Walker, linebacker. Oh yeah. Second pick. Yeah, that might be a reach. I don't know. I, I think it's, I think it's a little bit of a hot take. I like, to me it's like, okay, the Browns are either going to bite the bullet and reach for one of these quarterbacks. I doubt it. They do need a quarterback, but I don't think that. Any of these guys has worked. The second pick there, aside from Cam Ward, who's not gonna be there, obviously. But I think aside from that, there's basically two sort of blue chip caliber prospects in this draft. In my opinion, it's just Abdul Carter and Travis Hunter. I don't think there's any like no brainer blue chip. Players and so players, I think it has to be one of those two guys that they decide to take. I went ahead and, and got them with Travis Hunter. Their GM actually came out just a couple days ago and said that he thinks that Travis Hunter's gonna be the, the shhe ano of the NFL. I think that Travis Hunter not in Cleveland. I think the tra I, I know, right? I think the Travis Hunter loves to hear that because he really wants to prove that he can play full time both ways. I still have skepticism that he's gonna be able to pull that off at the NFL level, but I think that this is a good fit for him and I think that they probably love him back. So I, that's who I got at the second spot. Oh, okay. I mean, I could see Travis Hunter going there. I, I'm telling you, I tossed and turned. I, I probably put about four or five different guys in there and just kind of, that's who, I mean, it could, you know, very well be Abdul Carter as well. Yeah, yeah. I could see Abdul Carter too, but I knew, so I, I went with the Giants. I went with URA Sanders. I think it's a stupid move to go that way, but I think that that's what that front office will do, simply because they need, they, they don't have a good track record. They're trying to keep their job and so the only thing they can sell right now is hope. And so they're gonna sell hope with Shado Sanders. Which con conveniently enough, I've just read an article about how. Terrible of an interview he was. And how like, he's so egotistical. He thinks he is. The hot stuff. He's, he's and he's just bad. So he blames people and it is a lot like Aaron Rogers. And then with the Patriots, I did Abdul Carter there. And then at Jacksonville I went with arm mumbo. So what whatever rounds out your top five. Yeah. I think those ones make sense. That's not how mine goes, but I I understand why you picked those. Like I was saying before, I think, you know, between Travis Hunter and Abdul Carter, I think they're gonna go on the two and three slot. I do think that the Giants take Abdul Carter. I, I am really buying the buzz about the anti sentiment going around the NFL. Not only have there been several teams to legitimately get turned off it, you know, the, the rumor is basically that not only does he come off as cocky and conceded, but then at the same time he comes off as kind of dumb, which is like a. Yep. That's a bad combo. I'm sorry. But if you're, if you're giving the, the, these coaches the impression that you're not actually that smart and you're not a quick learner, and then on top of it you're, you're giving'em attitude like, you know, some prima donna shit. I mean, that's, that, that doesn't make for a good leader that, you know, they really want you to step in and, and rally the team. And it, you know, I, I don't know. I, I think what a lot of times what happens in the NFL is. You don't necessarily have to have a bad experience with, with the player, the yourselves. I, I think just the fact that, you know, other teams have, and that the reputation is that he's failing these interviews, paints, paints him in a worse light, even if he, he seemed okay to you. So I do think he is gonna fall. I don't have him in my top five here, but, but just to finish it out, I got AB Carter going to the three spot. I think that that would make a killer defensive line for them. Have thibodaux on one side, Abdo Carter on the other, and then have Dexter Lawrence in the middle. I, I could totally see them falling in love with that. And then for four I got Will Campbell tackle first tackle off the board? I think he makes sense there. They do need to tackle. And then five, I got the Jags actually. Shocking the world and deciding to go with Ashton Genti. I think Genti makes his way into the top five. Wow. This is, this is my first hot take. Wow, that is spicy. Yeah, I think that they, they really want to surround Trevor Lawrence with as much offensive firepower as they can. And I think that Will Carter's gonna go in that four spot, or excuse me, will Campbell's gonna go in that four spot, which means instead of taking the top tackle, they decide, fuck it, we're gonna take the top running back. And I think they do. I, I think they, I think they, but I think they do. I think he goes into top five, whether someone trades up and, and gets in that spot, or they just take him themselves. That, that is my hot take. Okay. Okay. All right. Moving on to number six, the Raiders I have, this is a possible trade back team. I could see them trading back potentially with the bears. So, but I have the Raiders taking Ash and Genty here. They need some help on offense and all the, all the places. They got rid of Josh Jacobs last year, so I, I think they could replace'em there and that'd be a great candidate. The Jets got Tyler Warren tied in the Panthers. This is where Travis Hunter is taken right here, as I said in the previous pre-draft episode. Travis Hunter. I mean, he probably won't fall this far, but he could. I mean, all these teams aren't necessarily looking for a cornerback or a wide receiver, except for, like you mentioned, the Browns pretty much, or the Giants. But the only reason why the Giants would take Hunter is to to tackle all the wide receivers. All the quarterbacks that are gonna catch the balls from. Russ and company. Yeah, and, and just a quick note on that is that I, it would not shock me to actually. Legitimately see Travis Hunter fall a few spots down like this. As good of a prospect he is. And most people do consider him like a short of blue chip. You really should, should go after him or whatever. The fact that he is so adamant that he wants to at least get the opportunity to prove he could play full-time at both sides of the ball is. That, that, that is actually going to turn off a lot of coaches because they, they just want to like, create a package for one side and have him work, work full-time with the coaches on the other side. Right. And a lot of coaches actually are not down with the, you know, tr trying to force his way onto full-time both ways. Absolutely. At number nine, and as you mentioned before. The Saints are gonna do the bad thing and they're gonna go for Jackson Dart here. And then at number 10, the Bears are gonna take Kelvin Banks Jr. Yeah, so that's my top 10. What do you, what do you got for 60 10? Man, I've got something amazing to tell you here. I think well, I'll just go ahead and say it in order and you'll see, but, for, for six. I, I've got the, the I got the Raiders going with Mason Graham. First defensive interior player coming off the board. I think most people see him as the top interior defensive player, and I think that it, it's a position they could use. I mean, they could use this a, a bunch of different positions, so you, you could. I put, there was a, there was like a five different dudes I, I thought about putting in there. But, and then I got the Jets going with tackle Armon, Mabu. I've got going to the Jets, and then I've got Ted McMillan going to the Panthers at eight. Like I said before, not very complicated. I just think wide receivers, their biggest issue there. And here's the part that surprised me, for you guys listening, we do not compare notes before the show. We don't know what each other's going to say. I thought that I was gonna have a hot take by saying Jackson Dart to the Saints at nine. Oh, no. And, and I I couldn't believe that you said that. I was like, wow. I, I do think, I do think they probably go Jackson Dart to the Saints at night or they, they trade down. Further back into the draft and, and take him somewhere a little bit further. But then something of a hot take here. I think the bears do miss out on Genti, as I said before, but I don't think they let it stop them. I think that they take O, Omar and Hampton here and the, I think that they really want a, a top talent running back. And I, I think that, I think that they go for the number two guy I. Wow. All right. I like it. I like it. All right. Going to number 11, San Francisco. I got'em. Taking Shamar Stewart at Edge. Dallas Cowboys taking TT McMillan, Miami Dolphins taking Will Johnson. I think that's been an issue for them for a while. And the fact that they might be losing out on Jalen Ramsey they'll need to replace that pretty quickly. So why not? Number 14, the Colts taking Jihad Campbell. And then number 15, the Falcons taking Mason Graham. Will you, what's your next five? Okay. Pretty interesting. A lot of these Okay. Are the same position that you said. But actually different names. But, so at 11, I, I've actually got the Niners going with Calvin Banksy Jr. I think that they need someone who could really be ad debt piece. I think that they probably do have their starting five, but they don't have much in the way of depth. And the fact that he could play. Tackle or guard I think is really attractive to them. They could, they could certainly use some depth there. So I, I see them biting, biting down on Calvin Banks Jr. There. And then I do have the Cowboys taking a wide receiver, but I think that they take Matthew Golden in that 12 spot. So that's who I've got going. And then I think the Dolphins, take an edge rusher here and Jalen Walker, and I think the Colts take the first tight end off the board, which I expect to be Tyler Warren. I just think the Colts have nothing at tight end. I mean, it's, it's such an obvious need and as far as I see it, I think he does fall that far. So and then Falcons they're taking an edge rush here. I've got them taking Shamar Stewart. Okay. Okay. All right. Very nice. Very nice. Yeah. I could see the Cols taking Tyler Warren in there as well. I would not be surprised.. All right. So starting with number 16, I got the Cardinals taking James Pierce Jr. The Bengals taking Kenneth Grant, the Seahawks taking Tyler Booker. The Buccaneers taking Malachi Starks and then the Denver Broncos taking am Hampton. Nice. Yeah, I I figured you'd like that. I figured you would like that. That last one there. Yeah. Yeah, man. What'd you think? What'd you think and what you got? I think, I think that all makes sense. That isn't what I've got, but I, I do have some similar positions there. I got the Cardinals going with Def Defensive Interior, Walter Nolan, I've got the Bengals going for Edge Rusher, Mike Green. I've got the Seahawks taking the first cornerback off the board in. Baron, I think there's sort of a, a just a debate going on. Who should be the top cornerback? You know, some people feel like it should be Will Johnson. Some people feel like it should be JDA Baron. I think it's gonna end up being JDA Baron. And then at 19 I've got the Buccaneers taking Kenneth Grant, defensive lineman, and then at 20. I don't, I no longer have Omar and Hampton on the board, but I do have the Broncos taking Trayvon Henderson here, and a lot of people are like, whoa, there's not gonna be three running backs in the first round. I'm telling you, I'm telling you right now, I know my guy Peyton. And if Ash. And Omar and Hampton are both gone. I think he takes Trayvon Henderson tr the thing that he loves for his running backs to be able to do the most out of ev, out of anything is pass, catch and pass block. And one of the best pass catchers in this draft is Trayvon Henderson in. Literally, I think the best pass blocker in this entire draft. Trayvon Henderson. That's a big deal to Peyton. I think he basically reaches for Trayvon Henderson in the 20 spot if Omar and Hampton's already gone. Right. So we agree. They're just taking, running back. Mm-hmm. Nice, nice, nice. I like it. Although I will say. That it would not shock me just because they need offensive weapons in general. It would not shock me if he decided to take like an Amica buca if one of Matthew Golden or Tet McMillan falls to him, I could see something like that happening too. Well, speaking of Aika Buka, that's who I got at number 21. The Steelers taken Amika Buka. They need some help. Wide receiver wise, I think even though we have Mason Rudolph at quarterback, all signs are pointing to Rogers going there, so we'll see what happens there. The Chargers I got taken. Mikel Williams, the Packers, I've got taken. Shamar Stewart and the Vikings taking Nick Iman and then the Texas taking Josh Simmons. Oh man. Whoa. We got another matching draft pick in here that's pretty cool. Really? Ooh, interesting. Yeah, so this is actually Steelers at the 21 spot is actually where I think Shado falls to. I think that they go ahead and snag him up in that 21 spot. Wow. They're definitely taking Will Howard later on in the draft. Interesting, fun fact for you is that the Steelers are actually the team that has had the most visits and spent the most time with Shahir Sanders. So I do think if he falls to them, I think that they, they go ahead and snatch him up anyway, to 22 chargers. I, I've got them taking Col Lovelin here. You know, they had Will, Disley was their best tight end last year. He got a major injury and he's off the team anyways, it, it's just such a need for them. I think they'd be happy to have one of those top two tight ends fall to them there. As far as Packers 23, I've got them taken. Will Johnson Cornerback, we already kind of spoke about them before, so you, you already know that, that, that is what I think is their biggest need right now. As far as Vikings, I think they need linebacker. I think they go ahead and take Jihad Campbell. And then Texans tackle Josh Simmons. A lot of people feel like, I think there's a lot of people feel like he's unproven. He's not gonna make it to the first round because the sample size was so small before. This past season, he was basically thought of as the best tackle in the country for those first three or four weeks, whatever it was. I don't care how small the sample size is, obviously the upside is there. They really need to tackle, I I think he makes it into the first round. A hundred percent. A hundred percent. Okay. And then we'll just go ahead and finish on out 26 through 32. The Rams, I've got them taking Colston, Loveland, the Ravens. I've got taking Gray Zabel, the Lions taking Donovan. I'm not even gonna try. Edge from Boston College. The commanders I've got taking Sivan. Ick. The Bills. Bill's taken. Trey Amos, the Chief's taken Walter Nolan and the Eagles taking Mike Green. That's my, that's my mock baby. Nice. That's the winner right there. The winning ticket. It, it could be. I, I like it at least as much as mine. Actually, the way that yours played out is actually like I, I realize that there's a couple people on yours that. That's not on mine, and I'm like, shit, they probably do get drafted in the first round, but. Here, here's what I have is I've got the Rams at 26 taken Donovan, we're just gonna say Ezzy. Donovan. Zy. Okay. Andrew Rusher. Ezzy. And then I got the Ravens at 27, taking the first safety off the board. Malachi Starks. I think that he's a natural fit for them. And then I've got Nick Scor. Edge rusher going to the lines at 28, and then Commanders, I think that they try to shore up the interior. That offensive line with Gray Zabel bills, I think are gonna focus on cornerback. And so I think that they take Tre Amos at the 30 spot. Look at that same he. Hey yo. And then so for chiefs, I've got them taking Donovan Jackson Guard. I think there's a possibility that he doesn't make it to the first round, but I think the chiefs really just really need offensive line. And so I think that they take next man up. And then for Eagle's final pick, I think that they go with the Edge rusher and I think they get James Pierce, Jr. There we go. Nice man. Nice. Yeah, I like it, man. Let's see what happens. You know, this is, this is what we're all about. On, on the Pine Pony podcast. Hot takes on the draft board. Yeah. Yeah. I love it. I like how we're, we're not traditionalists here. I, I like how your maka, you know, it kind of makes sense as far as the way players and the way things kind of come down with team needs and who's already drafted, who's still around, yada yada. But also it, it's not trying to be like, oh, this is just the next guy on the consensus, big board or whatever. Like you know, we both got, got our own sort of judgment calls mixed in with the team needs and that, so. A hundred percent. Pretty big surprises in line for Thursday, as always, I'm sure. But this is excited, Ben. Excited to see it. I like both of our mocks. Before, before we, before we end real quick, wanted to talk a little bit about rumors. I don't know if you've heard any sort of trade rumors or anything. I think that we are in line to see some, some veterans traded during the draft. I think this is the first time in a really long time that. That everyone still has their first round pick that they started the off season with without trading it. We haven't had a single trade involving a first round pick since the off season started. But there are a lot of rumors about vets that are on the trade block specifically having to do with. A couple tight ends, both Dallas Goddard with the Eagles, they're trying to get from out of his expensive contract. They've got you know, they're basically jammed with Cap. And then the Raiders obviously hit on Bowers. And so they've got Michael, Michael Mayer that they're trying to, that they're trying to trade for draft picks. There's a big rumor involving Tyreek Hill being traded as well as oh, there was another wide receiver too that I I'm blanking on. But at any rate, I think during the first round, I think we're going to get a couple of veterans that are traded to teams for some picks here. And I think it'll, it'll be pretty cool. It'll keep things exciting, have lots of sort of curve balls thrown at us. And I'm really looking forward to some fucking chaos, man. That's right. Well, speaking of chaos, one last note that we're gonna leave out on WrestleMania was this past weekend. That's right. We've made it to another year of WrestleMania. It was Okay. It was not as good as the previous season or previous year, if you will. I mean, I guess you could look at it like seasons. But, you know, just to kind of gloss over that real quick John Cena defeated Cody Rose for his 17th title beating out. I think it was Vic Flair. So he, so John Cena now holds it all, you know, all the cards he came out with. So he's, his shtick right now is that he's like anti wrestling and that he's just gonna take it away from everyone.'cause he's given it to him for all these years. So he came out and his music was like, say music, but, and when you say anti wrestling, is he like a villain character? Yes. He has turned heel, if you will. Wow. He turned heel at elimination chamber. Wow. And the yeah, so he used to be a good guy. I like him as a good guy. I don't, I don't, kids are crying. Nonetheless, he has the belt back and he says he is gonna retire with it. So we'll see what happens. The women's tag title changed hand. That was an okay match, but then it changed hands the following night on raw, so that was fun. Logan Paul was there again and he won again. Randy Orton faced off versus Joe Hendry. For those not familiar, Joe Hendry is a TNA wrestler. So to have another company's wrestler on WWE e's biggest event was pretty, pretty cool. History breaking. If you will. The crowd went absolutely nuts. A TNA is a completely separate company, right? Or did they buy it up? Yes. Total. Total impact wrestling or whatever. I don't know what it is to That. Used to be another one. I don't know. It's definitely total nons. Total nonstop. It's definitely tits and ass wrestling, bro. Everybody knows that total, it's, it's total nonstop action. Oh. Yeah, but they got, they got lots of half dress ring girls though, I'm sure. I don't know. I don't watch that promotion. I, keeping up with wrestling is a lot. Okay. It's a full-time job. Oh yeah. Two. Especially nowadays. Now that it's real. Yeah. Just in the two biggest promotions, there's four episodes a week. I mean, five episodes a week. Dang. So, and yeah, there's so much more than there was when I was a. No, it's the same amount. No, there was two programs on when I was a kid. When we were a kid. Well, when I was in middle school, elementary school, there was WCW and WE. They each had two programs a week, which, and then WWE had Sunday Night Heat, which makes five. Oh, geez. Well, you know what? It probably was. There was probably just two that I ever watched and I just didn't even know what Yeah, I mean, well it was regular cable back then, so you, you had to choose one. You couldn't watch both. Like you had to choose who you were gonna watch on Monday night. They came state time and shit. Yeah, they came on. Yeah. Yeah, the whole Monday night war. So anyway, moving back to the mania, fatal foray, which was my favorite match of one of the weekends. Dominic Mysterio, Ray Mysterio Junior's son. Also a big time joke that he is also Eddie Guerrero's kid. Penta one of the best lucido in all of wrestling, Finn Baller and Braun Breaker. Braun Breaker is one is Rick Steiner Steiner's son. So the dogs were out. It, it was, it was awesome, man. And Dom eventually won. Just for some context. Dom gets booed everywhere he goes. People don't like to let him talk. They just boo him instead of letting him talk. Yeah. Poor Dom. Damn. Well, he finally won and the crowd cheered him. So, you know, he turned, he turned basically baby facing. Oh. It was cute, precious. And then the most disappointing match of the, of the two nights was the street fight versus Damien Priest versus Drew McIntyre. It was a street fight that never took place anywhere, but in the ring and in the ring area, stupid. And there was no, and there was no blood. So I'm like, stupid. This is not a street fight. Aren't they supposed to do the street fights like in the back? The, the, in the dressing room area. The locker room, right. Or like, like in the parking lot behind or whatever. And back in the day when you were in a street fight, it didn't matter what your outfit was that you normally would come out to everybody's street fight, ring gear was like jeans or like cutoff jeans with like just a t-shirt. Like, like they, normally they would wear spandex, but not for street fight. Right. Right. So but yeah, it was a good weekend. It was a, you know, great WrestleMania. Yeah, a lot of stories came out of it. So very exciting. Can't, can't wait to continue on. W Wrestling is the soap opera drama that never stops. Hey, man, well done. Long lived Dom. There we go. Long lived on. Alright, well happy mock draft everyone. We'll see you at the real draft on Thursday, or I will, I'll try to post some fun pictures and stuff. Yeah. And I, I think the, the right way to say it is that they might see you at the real draft. Yeah, you could, you could. You're not gonna see me in Pine Pony here'cause it's gonna be too cold, so yeah. With that being said, we'll see you guys later. We'll see you on Instagram Threads and Blue Sky at Pine Pony podcast, and we'll post those drafts and you guys can argue with us. Absolutely. Have, have fun. Enjoy the draft and come back next week's for all the recap and review. Yeah, there we go. See ya.
