Welcome, welcome to another edition of the Pine Pony Podcast. Got me OG hanging out with the fantasy uncle. We're doing this on a Monday'cause Furnace Fest is this weekend. So let's have a diversion. Yeah, and hopefully we don't break any bones this time. You know, just got back on the mind, so, surprise, surprise. Never. Never. Mosh pits. Never die. That's right. Speaking of not dead yet, golf, it's not dead yet. So with that being said, we're gonna talk about some golf, some NCAA and NFL. And, uh, let's start the show. So Persian, I know you don't watch golf, um, but the Ryder Cup was this weekend and it's USA versus Europe. Um, you know, team, you have like couple match play games, couple two V twos, and then a singles game at the end. And, um, Europe was absolutely spanking the United States. So on day two there was some, some banter, a lot of cursing. Rory McElroy got heated. He told a fan to shut the fuck up. Um, fans were throwing drinks at his wife the day the day started. The day started with a chant that was led by. One of the, uh, a comedian who was leading the chance on the microphone and it was, fuck you, Rory. So she had the issue, an apology, and, uh, she stepped down. Yes. And if you look at the internet, it was basically everyone was calling this, um, MAGA America's Golf. And, uh, it was, it was pretty embarrassing, like it was fitting for the state of this, of the United States. Well, and what kept happening is throughout the tournament, they just kept talking in the middle of people's swings. Like it was just like golf etiquette was not there. And then what made it real kind of funny was after Europe won, they were celebrating, um, and they, they, they posted a tweet to Donald Trump and they said. Uh, they were singing, are you watching? Are you watching? Are you watching? And then he commented back, yes, I'm watching. Congratulations. Because he was also there day one. And so, because this was at, this was in Beth Page Black, which was in New York in, yeah. So exciting stuff. Well, I think it, well, that's pretty much what Rory said was like, we need to respect the game and the players, but you can kind of blame this all on the waste management. Uh, tournament where they have an a party hole where it's like kinda anything goes on that hole. So that's where that energy comes from. People start thinking they can just talk whenever and say whenever and whatever, but you know, no one's afraid anymore'cause the leader's not nonetheless. It, it made for an interesting Rider Cup and Rory McElroy has promised to, uh, in 2027 in Ireland that the fans won't be as disrespectful as the United States. So, yeah. So moving on. Moving on. NCAA week five. Clemson was off this week, and somehow they still got beat by the bye week 17 to seven. Um, and then, uh, man, this, this week, let me tell you, this was the week of upsets. It started off on, I think Friday night, Virginia beat Florida State number eight ranked Florida State went down. Virginia's four. One Tony Elliott ex Clemson coach got got UVA headed in the right direction. Um, and then right after that, Arizona State beat TCU 27 24. That was an incredible game. Both those games were incredible. I mean, one, the first one went to overtime, which was just nuts. I wa I was watching that game. Uh, shout out to Stan's bar in, uh, a hotel. You know, shout out Steve, me and Steve were watching it. So, um, it was pretty, it was pretty fun games to watch. And then, um. Moving on to Saturday, PSU was upset by Oregon. Number six, Oregon beat number three, Penn State. James Franklin, just dude cannot beat ranked teams man. He's awful against good teams. He's the guy before the guy. He, he like does well, recruits him, brings, brings the team out of the dumpster. But that's it. 24. I mean, they weren't highly ranked it. It is not. I don't really consider that an upset, but in ranking terms, it is. Um, yeah. Um, the game that everyone thought was gonna be a game, Ohio State, Washington, I mean it was, but 24 6. Um, ole miss beat, LSU, so number 13, Ole miss, beat number four LSU, number 17 Bama upset. Number five, Georgia feels weird to say that Bama upset Georgia. Like that. This doesn't feel right. Um, Illinois, the fighting Ali and I beat USC. Hey man, USC just can't get out of their own way. That was a crazy game. 34 to 32. Number 23 Illinois, number 21 USC and yeah, that's it. It was an upset week. Colorado, what? Back to our old ways at Colorado. Two and three. Oh, and two in the Big 12? Yeah. Yeah. Just me and sda. Oh, that's hilarious. Alright, uh, next week I am looking forward to, um, the Clemson UNC match battle of the one in three teams, bill Belichick. You know, finding out is not as easy to coach college kids as it is adults. And then, um, number 16, Vandy Undefeated. Five and oh versus number 10, Alabama three and one. That's it, man. If Vandy wins that game, six and oh could very well be like looking. That'd be wild to see Vandy win. Um, and then a game I'm interested in UVA. They're 24 now. Four in one versus Louisville. Four and oh, could be early signs of a a CC title game. Um, OSU four and oh, versus Minnesota. They're three in one, could be an upset, uh, candidate. And then, um, Miami playing Florida State. Top two, top 25 teams. Miami's number three, Florida State's number 18, three in one in Florida, so got a good weekend lined up man. Gonna be pretty disappointing. Love the way you said that. Just cracked me up. Oh, all right, so then we got the NFL. So since this is on Monday, we had two games tonight. One game was already over. The Dolphins beat the Jets. I was five points away from winning with Bri Hall in one of my leagues. Had I started Dak Prescott, I would've won, but I thought the Packers defense was gonna do more. Speaking of, well, before we get to the Packers defense, Tyreek Hill. Whew. Did you, did you see his leg bend like, bro, that was brutal. Bro, his leg was like in a permanent figure. Forward leg lock. It was sideways dog. Yeah. And I was scrolling, I was scrolling on threads at the time, and it, it was just like, it kept reoccurring. I was like, man, I don't wanna see this anymore. It hurts it. He was laughing as they, when he was on the cart, like he did not seem to be in pain at all. Yeah, maybe he was excited to not have to play with Tua again. I heard dislocated knee, so we'll see. Anyway, uh, let's go on to the Packers versus the Cowboys. What a game this was. Um, 40 to 40 ended in a tie. The second half was just a shootout. There was no defense to be played. You know, Michael Parsons to me, didn't look like he had that great of a game. But when you, when you go back in. Look at what he did do and how he was double teamed. He actually was on the positive side of of disruption, and then he had that huge play at the end of the game where he stopped Dak Prescott from getting in the end zone. Um. Yeah, he's been playing through injury since he got here. Well, what what was more upsetting was the disappearance of Luke van Ness throughout the entire game. Um, I don't remember his name being called once. And if you've got Parsons being double teamed, how are you not teeing off? Mm-hmm. Yeah. Yeah, I mean overall, I mean just one of those games where the offenses both killed it for the most part. I mean, Jordan Love was playing lights out. Dak Prescott was playing lights out, um, what's his name? Turban. Turban was having a hell of a game. I mean, especially in the second half. That little fucker, man, we could not stop him to save our lives. Dude, Romeo, big head Dobs man. Dude, the guy looks like a bobblehead out there on the field, bro. I mean, luckily I still won. Yeah, three touchdowns. Jesus guy was disgusting. Yeah. Um, overall, I think what happened in this game is a reoccurring theme of what happened in Cleveland is poor coaching. Matt LaFleur making two terrible decisions to not run the ball in the Cleveland game to close it out. And then again here in the second quarter, you're up, you have, you, you. You know, you're already winning the game. Just kneel it out, take it into halftime up, and then if you come out, you, you've got momentum. And instead we give them the ball, they go up into the locker room and they've got all the momentum. So we did answer in the second, in the third quarter, you know, by shutting them down three and out. And then, but still, and then again, special teams. Blocked field goal is if you, if that if we don't have a blocked field goal, we likely win the game. You know, if we're doing math here, that's, that's two points we gave them. Same as last week. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, absolutely. Um, yeah, you had Josh Jacobs and he was cooking the whole game. Um, so, but I'm like, you know, I felt after that game with the tie, I'm like, I'm not happy, but I'm also not mad, but I'm also like, I don't even know how I feel about this. Like, what do you think about it being a tie? Yeah, I mean, we were texting back and forth. Yeah. And, um, last thing I wanna say about it, you gotta point out, uh, I hate to say this because Chris Collinsworth was just really loving Aubrey and his kickoffs.'cause he kept putting us on the, on the 20 yard line, whereas we kept putting them on like the 40. So it's just like, that's a big swing, man. If you can do that, that's 20 yards difference. I mean. But still like, I mean it is a big swing now, but I mean, they used to come from the 20 back in the day, so they made it easier, I guess if you got, if you can kick it well. So, man, uh, rich Versace's gotta get the special teams in order. That's why we brought'em over here. Um, and then one other thing that's kind of weird is there are players that did not know the game could end in the tie. They, they gave me the old Donovan Donovan McNabb line. I didn't know, and it's just like, how did you not know? Yeah, right. Yeah, it's pretty mind blowing. Um, you know what else is mind blowing? First game in Dublin, Ireland, Vikings versus Steelers. Vikings, first of two games internationally, back to back. So there'll be international next week. Um, you know, it was a good game. Aaron Rogers 18 for 22. He looked, he looked pretty decent. Um, you know, who was impressive was Kenneth Gain, Gainville. He was having a, having, I mean, he was just having his way and dk Metcalf finally being on the same page with Rogers was. It was pretty, pretty good to see. And then, uh, on the Viking side, what I also thought was funny, the announcers, when they would talk about like what the Vikings were doing or something, they would only mention the wide receivers. Never once talk about Carson Wince or like, you know, uh, the Steelers they got, yeah, the Steelers gotta deal with Justin Jefferson and Jordan Adderson. You know, that's, but when they would talk about the Steelers, it was only about Aaron Rogers. It's was just, just funny. No love for Carson wi, which he shouldn't eat through Tobis. Yeah, I'm not surprised either. I. What is kind of surprising is, well, the Vikings, nevermind they didn't have Carson wins, but still the Steelers tried to give that game away towards the end and it, it got a little, it got a little interesting. That's for sure. We had some, um, friends over, so that was, so I went on a, a men's walk in the morning at 5:00 AM and then we came over to the house. The game was at seven 30 in the morning. Yeah, yeah, yeah, it was great, man. I mean, the Packers game ended at 10, so life, life is good on, on this, uh. Time zone. I dunno why I couldn't think of that word. Time zone. Um, also interesting stat from this game, TJ Watt became one of the seven players with at least a hundred sacks and eight interceptions in a career all time. So the other six are Lawrence Taylor, Richard d Chris Dolman, Jason Taylor, Julius Peppers, and Ricky Jackson. Yeah, man. Yeah, TJ Wat he's, and it's a young career, man, you, you gotta think he's gonna surpass these guys. Yeah. And then, uh, on the bad side, I think things are only gonna get worse for the Viking'cause they lost two starting offensive linemen on this game. So an already porous O line is gonna get even more. Any thoughts on that? You could, yeah. For sure. All right. And then, um, what I would consider upset of the week here, Jacksonville and the 49 ERs. Um, you know, Jaguars are three in one, so look out. Look at'em. Yeah, dude. Jesus Christ, man. 124 yards. Yeah, love to see it. Love to see it. Hey, man, Travis Hunter made the stat sheet, three receptions, 42 yards, five targets. Not too bad, not too bad. Um, the, so here's a, another, I got another fun fact for, for this game as well. The 49 ERs are one in seven since the MAGA hat situation. No, I don't know if that's true or not.'cause it can't be. They're three in one. Yeah. Fucking ai. Yeah man. Fun facts. Fake fun facts. That would be cool though if they were, you know, like irony. But. It's fake. Fake news. Fake news. Um, what really won this game was the Parker Washington 87 yard punt return for touchdown, which was the Jaguar's first in eight seasons. Um, yeah. And then they had four takeaways. Um, Ricky Pears song is hopefully not injured for long'cause my wide receiver core is already decimated as is. Um, and then CMC, he had, he's tried to win the game for everyone. Classic CMC. Um, and then also did you see Liam Cohen and your boy Robert Sala got got into it post-game? They had some words and he did. What's the problem? Oh gosh. Unspoken rule, right? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Well, and it is 49 ERs, so you never know at that stadium what's gonna happen. I, yeah, it does. It does. All right. Moving on. Got the uh, bears versus Raiders on my docket. Next man, Ashton Genty. Welcome to the NFL. Geez. Finally having a breakout game. We were looking for that. We got 138 yards. Yeah. Yeah, and everybody was, everybody's making fun of him on social media saying that he has the Michael Myers stance when he's just in the backfield, kinda just standing straight up like, yeah, yeah, yeah, exactly. Hold on one second. Okay. Said my microphone got disconnected, but it didn't. Okay. Um, yeah. Fake news. But yeah, man, Vegas shot themselves in the foot. They had four turnovers and a blocked field goal, um, which Josh Blackwell re re, you know, preserved after the block field goal, you know, picked it up. Yeah. Yeah. Um, Hey man, R Do Day is putting together, you know, a couple good games here in this, this season. Mm-hmm. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I mean, hey, you know, bears are two and two. Caleb Williams looking decent. Gino Smith not looking decent. Uh, tough, tough sledding for Pete Carroll and the Vegas Raiders, even though, um, what's his name? Max Crosby was, you know, the defense was playing a pretty, pretty good game too. Mm-hmm. Yeah, it's tough to watch the Bears win and, and Packers come away with a tie nonetheless. And, uh, hitting up our final game, uh, Rams versus Colts. Um, pka Nua. Hello old friend. He was, he was. Every time I looked up, I felt like he was catching the ball, man. Yeah, yeah, for sure. On the other side of the thing, you know, I started Daniel Jones'cause I, you know, thought I was being cute and you know, thought. You know, Packers defense is gonna shut down. Dak Dak ended up with 32 points. I lost by six points, but really the problem lies in a donde Mitchell. Hold onto the ball. Had he hold onto the ball, Daniel Jones gets, gets more points. I probably win the game. So, dude, how do you like, I just don't understand how many times we have to watch. Receivers and running backs either drop the ball at the goal line or fumble it through the end zone because they're trying to be cute and celebrate like before the touchdown is counted, like just run into the end zone, put the ball on the ground, and then celebrate like. Yeah, right. Yeah. I will say though, even with all that, I mean, the Rams barely squeaked this one out. You know, if it wasn't for Tutu, Atwell and Cameron Curls, interception. You know, the Colts could have squeaked this one out. Man, I, you know, the Colts are still looking pretty good in my eyes. So three in one, both of'em. Three in one. Yeah. Easy to do. Yeah. I need him to beast more though. Um, yeah. And then so to round out week, week four. Wow. Already in week four. Broncos beat the Bengals tonight. 28 to three Bengals, man. They're gonna be in rough shape. Yep, yep. Smith and I, friend of the pod. Made the big brain decision and sat Jamar, chase and t Higgins this week. Yeah, yeah, yeah. No, it worked out for me. It worked out for me. Um, and then the Seahawks beat the Cardinals. I did not see that one coming. I thought the Cardinals were just a little bit better. Marvin Harrison, Jr. Had. It started off some drops and it finally got a touchdown, um, but the Seahawks and it went Sam Dar three in one man. He's, he's proven the haters wrong. Yeah. Yeah. Yep. Guys looking good. Yeah. Keep, yeah. You know, who's not handling pressure? The Panthers? No, no, no, man. He got it back. Yeah, he was. Yeah. You know who else was happy? Us fantasy owners like bro. To be his dad. Yeah. Yeah. Um, and then didn't see this one coming. Drake May and the Patriots just absolutely Boat, boat racing. The Panthers, man, the, yeah. No. Hm. Yeah. Uh, and then on the flip side, the Falcons beat the commanders. Yeah. I didn't, man. Dude, I feel bad for the saints. Like they're in a tough spot, dude. They're, it is gonna be a while before they're good man. Like, who are they gonna get? Arch Manning? Yeah. Well, it's because it is, because they kept pushing the TSO Hill bucket down the road like. Like Cameron, Jordan, get rid of his old ass already. Why? Why? Yeah. Ridiculous. Um, and then real quick on the Browns. When is Joe Flacco taking the seat on the bench? Dude, like why is he still starting? He's awful. Hmm. Hmm. Um, Hey, Ben Giants pulled off the upset against the Chargers, but they lose Malik neighbors to torn ACL at MetLife Stadium, which prompts Odell Beckham Jr. To call for a change. And that that, um, turf has been known as like the worst turf in all of NFL is claimed to so many people. Mm-hmm. But yeah. Yeah. Yeah, for sure. For sure. Oh man, the Eagles won again. You know, fantasy owners are starting to get pissed. AJ Brown's getting pissed. We know that. You know? Yeah, yeah. Hey, don't, yeah, don't, I don't wanna bring attention to myself, but let me tell y'all about how mad I am on Twitter. Yeah, right. Yeah, yeah, yeah. He is got CTE set in. Yeah. Yeah, dog. I'm sorry. I suck and I could only catch three of'em. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And your 4.0. It sounds, it sounds like he's with Dabo and he's tired of winning. Um. No. Gosh. Oh my God. That does not need to happen. That does not need to happen. And then dude, Ravens are one and three chiefs showed up. This was the best game chiefs put together this year. Um. Man, are we worried in Baltimore? Yeah. Yeah. Hey, time's on your side. All right, so. That's all what we got for this week. Next week's games I'm interested in for the NFL's, the 49 ERs, Rams, Texans, Ravens, bucks, Seahawks Chiefs, Jaguars, and then Teams on by, or Falcons, bears, Packers, Steelers. with that being said, good luck to all you fantasy world out there.
