Welcome back to another episode of the Unstoppable Mindset Podcast. I'm your host, shawn Michael Crane, and I'm fired up to bring you guys a really powerful message today. Today's message is for those of you that want to be successful in life. You have this calling inside of you that you want to pursue, whether it's a business, whether it's just this life by design or a vision that you've been gifted. I want to talk to you about what's going to happen on that pursuit and how to stay focused, how to stay grateful every step of the way, and how to ultimately achieve your vision, achieve your goal.
Speaker 0:This is a journey I've been on for 12 years. The most important thing for me is continuing to stay focused on my personal development. The funniest thing is, you'll forget the lessons that you learned that put you on the path that you're on, so you always have to be put yourself in a position where you can remember and recall this information, whether it's at an event, listening to a podcast, reading books. That's why it's so important to continue to keep yourself in that right headspace. You know, for me, I've overcome so much the last 12 years and I've accomplished so much, but it's still easy for me to forget what that journey has been like and lose sight of all the good I've done, all the stuff I've experienced. That's why I love reading, I love self-reflecting every day, I love, you know, just sitting there and thinking about the journey and making sure I'm tapping into the right energy day by day. And the reason I bring this up is because just this morning, in fact, I was reading a book 10X is Easier Than 2x by Dr Benjamin Hardy and Dan Sullivan. I've been studying it the last month and a half. When I read, I don't just read a book and finish it, I study it and I apply it to my life.
Speaker 0:And I got to a section that's talking about what happens to a lot of entrepreneurs, and the authors refer to it as the gap in the game. And essentially, you've overcome a lot of stuff, you're on this path to create a business or building success, and you start measuring yourself to other people or to this ideal life and person you think you need to become to be successful and you start measuring where you're at currently to external things. Things are outside of your control and your reach, and what happens to a lot of people that do this is it steals their joy, it steals that inspiration, it steals that gratitude, it starts to work against them and, in fact, all the stuff that they really worked hard to cultivate to get to that point. They start to dissipate those attributes Meaning when you start on a journey. To be successful, you have to face fears, you have to have courage. You want to tap into gratitude every day, because that gratitude is just what gets you out of bed, excited to go do the work on yourself or build your business or whatever it is. And the craziest thing that happens is like people start having success and they start going down that path that they want to go down and they lose that perspective. So they start waking up thinking about why they don't have the money they want in their bank account, why they're not further ahead, you know, why things haven't gone a certain way and it starts to work against them. And we all go through this as entrepreneurs. If you're an entrepreneur, you're building a business. You're going to have times where you don't see the good in your life, you don't feel it, you don't recognize how far you've come. That's why your own personal development and staying tapped in to these messages and this type of content is so key. That's why I read every day, I listen to podcasts. I always want to remember what it was like to start and I always want to continue to sharpen those attributes and characteristics that got me on this journey. You know, I was reflecting today. I was reflecting today and I've always been really good at this. To be honest with you, every step of the way I've always been immensely grateful.
Speaker 0:Like I'm a guy that came from really nothing and I got a second chance at life. So I got out of prison and I had no money, I had no material items, I had nothing to my name and I left a job that I was guaranteed with my uncle and a place to stay, to go rent a room and start working as a personal trainer in a gym for pennies, right. But like I was so excited to be going after my dream, I didn't think about the lack of money, I didn't think about the poor surroundings. I was in the lack of resources. I was so excited and proud of myself that I had the courage to go after my vision that I didn't even think of anything else. And you know, I was making $1,600 a month as a personal trainer, paying my bills, and I was broke every month.
Speaker 0:And that's when I met my wife, jessica, and because I was so grateful and excited about life, like she told me she was. Like the first time we went out to dinner I saw something in your eyes that I'd never seen in another person. She goes. You were so excited and happy, like your, and your energy was infectious. I just wanted to be around you and that's because I was. I was so grateful to have a second chance at life. Like I didn't think about all the stuff working against me. I didn't even recognize the things I didn't have. All I could see was how good I had it and how much Opportunity was in front of me, and I knew I was willing to work hard and give my all to achieve those things. So I was immensely excited, inspired. That's what attracted her to me. Man, like a lot of guys worry about I don't have money, I don't have a nice car what can I offer a woman like bro? You are the offer like. What are you possessing internally? Like your belief, your for life, your gratitude? It's infectious. When you can emit that energy, you can attract anything you want in life. And that's how Jessica was drawn to me and that's why we built this beautiful life and we have these children and this, just this amazing experience we're creating together. Because I was that person, you know, and then she saw me every step of the way, overcome obstacles and continue to pursue my vision, and she supported me every step of the way.
Speaker 0:Like I remember, during COVID, I was tested and I had to leave my in-person clients and that personal training job to go online and for a little bit there, I was daunted. There was definitely some fear and some scarcity around money because that was the first time in my life, I had children. I had a wife, like I had a lot of people that I needed to take care of, but I didn't skip a beat, man. I didn't hesitate, I didn't think about it, I took action. You know, it literally took me like an hour reflecting on my decision to take action and to go all in, and that's when I made a huge leap forward in my business. I made a lot more money that year, I had a lot more impact and reach, and what happened was I had now this even stronger belief in myself that I could go out and achieve things in the world, because there was nobody giving me money or clients or a handout, like I had to earn it and learn these skills to build my business every step of the way, you know. So I was reflecting on all these things this morning and all these different decisions I've made and all these pivotal milestone moments or these hockey stick moments in business, and and it's so important to do that If you're a business owner, an entrepreneur, someone that's on this journey of excellence, self-excellence, personal development, don't compare yourself to who you think you need to be.
Speaker 0:Don't compare yourself to other people in your industry on a similar path as you. They're not you. They could never be you if they tried and you could never be them if you tried, no matter how much effort you gave. Right, you could be similar, but no one is going to be unique. No one is going to be you, and vice versa. So stop doing that. You can look at what other people are achieving and use that to kind of gauge your journey and what you need to do, or you can learn a lot from observing people, but don't ever compare yourself to someone else to the point where it's going to steal your joy and make you feel less than in the things that you're doing, like that'll just ruin you, and so that's one point I want to make.
Speaker 0:The second thing is always look backwards to help you to move forward in life, meaning if you're going through a tough time and you're not feeling grateful for where you're at, or you're feeling stuck. Stuck or you're feeling like things are going slow in your business, look at how far you've come. Look at all the obstacles you've overcome. Look at the moments where you felt defeated in the past or the moments where you had to pivot. Look at all the things in your journey that got you to where you are today and, man like, feel proud of yourself for that. You got to find gratitude in that journey that you've been on. You know, I know some people and people even coach and mentor and they get daunted and they get discouraged and they can't recognize how far they've come because the mindset that they're in their perspectives all wrong. They're thinking about what they don't have and why they should be further ahead and why they're not successful quote, unquote but they can't see how far they've come from when they started.
Speaker 0:So if you haven't read the book, the Gap in the Gain, or 10x is Easier Than 2x, or Be your Future Self Now, or who, not how. These are all books by Dr Benjamin Hardy, and he co-authors with Dan Sullivan on a handful of them. They're great books for entrepreneurs because this is what it all comes down to. It comes down to your mentality and your attitude every day. If you want to be successful in life, having a good attitude, being grateful like that is the key to success. That is the foundation of success, because when you wake up in the morning you have that inspiration. You're seeing through that lens of gratitude and all the good in your life. You show up with such a better energy. Your energy is attractive to people. People remember you. They're like dude, that guy's got good energy right. He's always positive, he's always moving with good energy, like you just operate differently and people recognize that and that's the beginning of success.
Speaker 0:You never know what relationships you're going to cultivate. You never know who's watching or observing you. I mean, whether it's getting married, like I did, to somebody that was drawn to your energy, or building a business, like I've been able to through relationships and through the energy I met on social media, it all derives from the same place. It's being able to tap into that gratitude. It's being excited for where you're at in life.
Speaker 0:So many people compare themselves to other people or they compare themselves to their idealistic self, who they think they should be in that moment. Oh, because what? You're 31 years old and you don't have the stuff you thought you would have by that age Like who cares? You're on your own journey. If you could look at it as this is an experiment, man, this is an opportunity to get to go out and learn lessons and go through hardships and sharpen yourself and go on this crazy adventure of life. Man, if you have that attitude whether it's building a business, in your marriage, just in your life you're not going to have a perspective or attitude that demands you get results right now, that demands you keep up with the Joneses, that demands that you have what you want right now, like it doesn't work that way, but go into it as a student of life, always learning, always growing, always excited, always curious, always grateful for the opportunity. I'm grateful for the opportunities to learn through hard times and I'm grateful for opportunities where I get to feel the reward behind my hard work, like the success, the achievement you know. But every step of the way, none of that stuff should make or break you. You need to go into your journey with an open mind and you're just willing to learn and grow every step of the way. So this morning, man, I had a cool opportunity to reflect on my journey, and I always do. This is why I'm always reflecting on my journey, because it gives me. It gives me aim as to where I'm going in the future. It really does, and it always helps me to tap into the best energy, and I know that if I harness that energy, I'm a better father, I'm a better husband, I'm a better leader.
Speaker 0:The moment I lack gratitude, I can't see the good in my life. If I can't see it, I can't feel it. You know and here's another thing like whatever you think about every day is going to affect how you feel, and how you feel is how you show up in the world. So those thoughts really become things in your life, like they manifest in your relationships, in the effort you put forth in your business. They manifest in every facet of your life your health, your body, your bank account, like we could talk about all these details. It's all a reflection of how you're thinking. You need to train yourself to see the good in your life. Talk to yourself about the good in your life and watch how that affects how you show up and operate each and every day. So the message today, man, is I'm proud of so many of you that I see out there pursuing your vision and your dreams. Never before in life has there been such an opportunistic time to build a business, to take a vision and manifest it into a real thing, to become your best self.
Speaker 0:Like this stuff that's talked about all over social media, all over podcasts. We have examples of some of the most successful entrepreneurs in the world. How did they get there? They got there because they had a vision, they had belief in themselves and every step of the way, they learned how to stay excited to pursue that vision, even if they're going through tough times. They learned how to talk to themselves so they could feel the gratitude even in their lowest moments that kept them going, that kept them giving better effort each and every day, and literally like the man who refused to quit cannot be stopped. It's true.
Speaker 0:You see people like Elon Musk, patrick Bet-David, like Joe Rogan, like, if you learn from where they come from and what they achieved in their lives, like nobody gave them this secret formula or handbook that said here this is how you're going to be one of the most successful people in the world. It was something internal that they kept alive every step of the way. It was a belief they had that no one else could see. They didn't compare themselves or want to be somebody else. They found that uniqueness within themselves and then, every step of the way, they were grateful to improve. They were grateful to pursue their vision. They were willing to work hard. It was because they had a good attitude each and every day that they put forth that energy into the work they were doing and that attracted opportunities. People saw them and they wanted to be around them. People saw them and they liked listening to them. People saw them like dude this guy's special. He's got something different about him. All they did was they tapped into that authenticity and they showed up with gratitude and they were willing to work hard every day.
Speaker 0:And if you do that in your life too, I don't care if you want to have your own plumbing business, if you want to utilize social media, if you want to be a speaker, if you want to be an entrepreneur of whatever sorts, like whatever you want to achieve, I guarantee you can do it. Nothing will stop you. This is the biggest thing that people need to recognize. Stop doubting yourself, stop thinking you can't do it. You can literally write down anything on a piece of paper right now and with enough energy and focus and time, you can become that thing.
Speaker 0:I could become an astrophysicist. If that was my life purpose, I'd know nothing about astrophysicists, right. I don't even know what the hell that entails. I just know those people are really smart and they study the universe in complex ways. I could become that. I believe in myself to that extent. I would obsess over the books All day long, I would study, I would read, I would write, I'd get around astrophysicists and ask them questions, I'd observe them, I'd immerse myself in the culture and the philosophy and the education needed to become an astrophysicist and before I died, with enough effort and enough positive energy and thought and belief in myself, I would be an astrophysicist.
Speaker 0:If you don't have that belief in yourself, I want you to look in the mirror and go. Why not? Why not me Like? I'm put here on this earth for a purpose? Why could other people become their dreamlike self and achieve success at the highest level and really experience that transformation from the inside out, but why can't I Like? That's the problem with people is you don't believe you can. If you believed you could, you would live and operate differently. You, you can. If you believed you could, you would live and operate differently. You would go after what you want with more energy, with more urgency every day. You wouldn't waste a moment, you wouldn't want to sleep in and check out and numb yourself. That's the biggest problem, and so that's my mission. Man is to lead by example and to show people what's possible, so that you can have that realization one day, like man. Why not me, why not you? As the message today?
