Burnt Out? This Is How I Reset My Mind and Energy
Burnout doesn’t always arrive with alarms; sometimes it shows up as a quiet hum you can’t shut off. After a month of travel, speaking, and back-to-back calls, we hit that wall—then chose a spontaneous drive to Cambria, California that turned into a masterclass in resetting the mind and reigniting the heart. Sunset over green hills, a Christmas market lit like a storybook, a sunrise beach walk, and two hours without a phone did what no productivity hack could: it gave us a clean break and a clearer way forward.
We unpack why entrepreneurs struggle to power down on Fridays and how that unfinished business bleeds into family time. The solution isn’t more grit; it’s an environmental switch that tells your nervous system to let go. We break down a simple framework to find your happy place—beach, woods, or even a device-free movie night—and turn it into a weekly ritual. You’ll learn how nature, movement, and focus on your people create rapid state change, bringing gratitude and presence back online fast.
From there, we draw a straight line between strong relationships and sustainable growth. When your partner feels supported and your kids feel seen, your stress baseline drops and your creativity climbs. That energy compounds on Monday: clearer decisions, better delegation, and renewed excitement for the goals God put on your heart. We talk about designing a life where you can scale your business without starving your home, writing goals that measure impact and income alongside presence, and choosing spaces that keep you inspired for the long run.
If you’re building hard and want your life to feel as good as your wins look, this one is for you. Subscribe for more practical strategies, share this with a friend who needs a reset, and leave a review with your favorite weekend ritual so we can all learn from each other.

Maybe you're growing a business, maybe you're raising kids, and you just don't always feel the way you want to feel. Now, chances are it's because you're overwhelmed and stressed out. A lot of people go through that, especially if you're growing a business and you have family and you have a million things you're doing each and every day. So I want to talk to you about how to rejuvenate yourself, how to make sure you're always showing up with gratitude at a high level and you're inspired to keep going after those big goals God put on your heart. This has been a busy month for me. We're in December 2025. I traveled two different times, once to Marco Island, Florida for a week, and then Vegas for three days, both for speaking events and business conferences. And in between those events, I was taking time off to do Christmas stuff with the family. Um we took the kids on a three, four-hour drive down to Southern California to do the Polar Express. Um, and we were just all over the place. And so I was inconsistent, my typical workflow. I was traveling, it was just a lot going on. And last week I had a week where I was just jam-packed eight to twelve hours a day, doing Zoom calls, doing coaching calls, team calls, all this stuff to run my business, unstoppable 365. And I remember Friday came and I was like, dude, I'm I'm just ready to take a break from this laptop and this phone. You know, I just felt like like it was a lot, it was more than I normally do. So I made a spontaneous decision to surprise my wife and kids and drive two hours up north to Cambria because I had seen they had something called the Christmas market. I think that's what it's called. It's in Cambria, California. If you haven't had a chance to check it out, I highly suggest you do so. What they what they do is they create um something that's similar to how they celebrate Christmas in Germany with outdoor vendors and an outdoor market place, and it's really cool. And they decked everything out with all these amazing Christmas lights. So there's all these trails and paths and places you could walk around, and everything is just covered in Christmas lights everywhere. And they had Santa's little workshop, and he was in there, and the kids got to go see him. Um, and it was just a really fun time for the family. I'm always trying to be spontaneous and take the kids and my wife to do things that I know are exciting for them and that we're spending time together. Uh so we drove up there Friday, right when I finished all my Zoom calls. We took the kids out of school, drove up there, and we stayed in Cambria for the night. And Cambria, California is a town of about 6,000 people. It's in Central California, and it was so beautiful driving up there. All I saw was like these rolling hills covered in greenery, right? It had rained recently, everything's green and lush and beautiful, and the sunset is, you know, right in front of us as we're driving up there, and I'm seeing just all these beautiful mountains and the ocean. And it put me in such a tranquil state. You know, I had about two and a half hours of driving after work where I'm not on my phone, we're listening to music, all the kids were behaving really well. Me and my wife were just hanging out talking. Um, and then we did the Christmas lights that night and woke up the next day and did a sunrise beach walk. And we're walking out there on the beach, we're hearing the waves crashing, the kids are playing in the waves, running around. We just had a really, really amazing time. And I felt so rejuvenated and so peaceful. And so what I realized, and this is the message for you business owners, you can relate to this. Sometimes when Friday comes, it's very difficult to just shut your mind off. You've been making high-level decisions all day long, executing efficiently, delegating, being decisive, making your money, running your business, like serving your customers. It's really hard when Friday evening comes to just turn that off. Like if you're a business owner and you're obsessed with potential and purpose like I am, it's very hard to shut that off ever. And so for me, I'm always seeking to be present with my wife and kids and to do things that help facilitate that shift mentally and in my energy. And what I mean by that is on Friday evening, maybe or afternoon, we go to the park or do a beach walk. For me, it's getting out in nature, getting out in nature. I'm away from my phone, I'm watching my kids play, I'm connected with my wife. And what that does for me spiritually and energetically, it puts me in such a state of gratitude and so much peace. And I'm able to turn off the noise of my business life and the business world and be present in the moment. And so going up to Cambria, I felt that instantly. Usually it's a transition into Saturday morning, Saturday for me at least, to be able to get into family mode and just feel that presence and be peaceful. And then you turn it back on again Monday, right? And so it's like this ebb and flow of energy. And I talk to a lot of business owners, and it's hard for them to be present at home because they're carrying all those decisions and the weight of growing their business and the financial stress and everything that goes into it into their home life. And so, what I'd suggest to you guys is you got to find somewhere that's your happy place. For you, it might be the beach like me, it might be hiking out in the woods. I don't know, it might just be a family movie night or a game night or something that allows you to get present in the moment. For me, when I get out in nature and I'm with my kids and my wife, instantly, I go from being on overdrive and just goal obsessed and focused on running my business to present in the moment and nothing else in the world matters. I love that feeling because I'm never going to be that guy that looks back and goes, oh gosh, I grew this huge company and made all this money, but I wasn't there for my family. I hear that story all the time and it breaks my heart when other business owners share with me their experiences. This is some of the work and a big part of the work I do with the clients I mentor is helping them to create a life by design where they can show up at a high level for their family and in their business, and everybody wins. And so I fell in love with Cambria, California. My goal is to buy a vacation home up there now so that we can have getaways whenever we want. It's two hours away. I can go up there every weekend if I want. Friday after school with the kids, we go up there until Sunday night, right? And so it's really important. If you want to continue to grow and make money and scale your business, you continuously work on your development as a person. You continuously pour into your marriage. You continuously focus on showing up at a high level for your children. Because the moment those relationships or that part of your life starts to become compromised or subpar, it's going to spill over into the business. It's going to affect your mentality. You're going to start to feel burnt out more. You're going to get overwhelmed by stress. You're not going to feel as inspired and as excited about your life. But if you can pour into your wife and kids and you consistently rejuvenate yourself by getting in those environments that are tranquil, tranquil, that are peaceful, that just naturally push you into being present. Dude, you'll bring so much inspiration into business. You'll continue to grow and get excited about what you're doing every day till the day you die. The goal is that every day you wake up, you have inspiration and gratitude on your heart in such a way that's undeniable. And you look around and you go, yeah, this is the life I always wanted. This is the life by design that God put on my heart. I wouldn't change a thing. We're always a work in progress, you guys. But if you have this high level of awareness and you're willing to do the work, it's amazing what you can create in your life. My hope for each and every one of you this year in 2026 is you make more money than you ever have, you change and impact more lives than you ever have. And you're the most present, loving, best father and husband you have ever been in your life. I want you to write those goals down. I want you to do the work required, and let's go out together and make this the best year of our lives.
