Zera came to America just before her 15th birthday.  In this podcast, Zera shares about what caused her and her family to flee from their homeland of Burundi, to a refugee camp in Tanzania, where she would spend the next ten years of her life.  Zera shares about her faith journey during that horrific and painful time as well as the joy and relief she felt when they found out they were coming to America.  She even brings us into everyday things we experience living in America, that were completely foreign to  her like street lights, computers, and being on an airplane for the very first time.
Zera has pressed through many challenges, heartache, fear and doubts, both in Africa and here in the U.S.,  but has truly persevered. She is now a police officer in Nashville Tennessee.  She wanted to join the police force  because she wanted to give back to this country and pay it forward because of all God has given her here. She says the best part of her job as an officer in Nashville is being able to help refugees and immigrants that speak her language.
I know this interview will inspire you, challenge you, and hopefully bring understanding  and awareness of what refugees have been forced to walk through.
