From Modere to Make Wellness: Navigating the Latest MLM Collapse

Maren Crowley

Hey everyone, I'm back after taking a little break - and let me tell you, between my work in the golf industry and family life, things have been absolutely wild! I needed to slow down and really process everything that's been happening, especially with this huge news about Modere shutting down. It's bringing up a lot of parallels with what we saw happen with Beachbody, Make Wellness, and other MLMs.

As someone who was once a top leader in Beachbody, I want to share my insider perspective on what's really going on in network marketing - the culture, the red flags, and yes, even the cult-like aspects that I personally experienced. I'll be real with you about how hard it is to leave these organizations and the manipulation tactics they use to keep people in.

We're going to dig into some pretty eye-opening stuff today - like how these top leaders bounce between companies, the sketchy practice of "bridge payments" (I'll explain what those are), and why it seems like actual products take a backseat to endless recruitment.

I'm also going to break down something fascinating - how MLMs actually fit the criteria that cult expert Michael D. Langone uses to identify cult behavior. I've got plenty of real stories from my years in the industry to show you exactly what I mean about the manipulation, leader worship, and how they use exclusion to keep people in line.

But don't worry - I'm not just here to point out problems. I want to show you there are better ways to make money, like creating UGC (User-Generated Content) or getting into Amazon shoppable videos. Trust me, these alternatives are so much more empowering than the MLM model.
