#350-"It is Only Kindness that Makes Sense Anymore"--Week of Feb. 2, 2026
When the Ground Shifts Again
This week carries a feeling many of us recognize in our bones: something is moving forward again—but not back to what was.
Uranus, the planet of disruption, awakening, and radical change, turns direct in Taurus, marking the final stretch of a seven-year cycle that began in 2018. Since then, what once felt stable—finances, ecological systems, bodily safety, and the promise of “normal”—has been steadily unsettled. Taurus governs the ground beneath our feet, and Uranus has been shaking that ground not to punish, but to awaken.
As Uranus moves forward for the last months of its time in Taurus, the message is unmistakable: there is no return to the old stability. But there is an opportunity to build something truer.
This forward motion does not arrive quietly. Both Mercury and Venus in Aquarius form tense squares to Uranus, pressing our stories, values, and social agreements up against realities that refuse to be managed or smoothed over. Collectively, this shows up as unrest, protest, and outrage—signals that people can feel when systems no longer protect life or reflect shared values.
Aquarius gives voice to the people; Uranus refuses compliance with what has become unjust or unsustainable.
At the same time, Mercury and Venus also make supportive connections to Chiron in Aries. Alongside anger and rupture, there is a healing process underway around identity, agency, and the right to exist as oneself. Honest conversation and values-based relationship become part of that healing—not by bypassing pain, but by naming it.
Later in the week, Mercury enters Pisces for an unusually long stay, shifting the tone from argument to intuition, from certainty to listening. This is not a time for quick solutions. It’s a time to sense what is dissolving and what is quietly asking to emerge.
As the week closes, it matters to say this clearly: outrage is not a spiritual failure—it is often a healthy response to real harm. What is equally important to notice is the courage moving alongside it: people supporting one another, organizing without violence, and creating care where institutions have failed. This is not chaos—it is conscience.
The astrology cycles of this week do not ask us to harden or look away. They ask us to stay present, embodied, and ethically awake, remembering that collective awakening often begins when we refuse to normalize what wounds life.
As you move on from this moment, let your feet find the ground beneath you, and remember that staying human—present, caring, and awake—is already an act of courage.
Reflection Questions for the Week:
- Where has my sense of security already changed—financially, physically, or emotionally—even if I haven’t fully acknowledged it yet?
- When I feel agitation, anger, or outrage—personally or in response to the collective—what truth might be trying to surface through that energy?
- Where am I being invited to speak, relate, or choose more honestly—even if it disrupts comfort or agreement?

More resources are available at the website on the edges of change.com. Hello and welcome to episode number 350 of the Astrology Alchemy Podcast. This is for the week of February 2nd, 2026, and I'm your host and guide Sheila Melange, a phrase from this week's poem, it is only kindness that makes sense anymore. A headline for today, for this week's astrological Cycles when the ground shifts Again. This week carries a feeling many of us recognize in our bones. Something is moving forward again, but not back to what it was on Tuesday, February 3rd, Uranus, the Planet of disruption, awakening, and Radical Change. It turns direct in Taurus. It's been retrograde in Taurus since September of 2025. This matters not because of the exact degree in the Zodiac where it turns, not because of the date on the calendar, but because we are in the final chapter of a seven year initiation that began in 2018. When Uranus first entered Taurus, it destabilized what many of us once assumed was solid financial security, bodily safety, ecological continuity, even the idea of normal itself. Taurus governs governs the ground beneath our feet, our relationship to resources. Land food, money, and the body as a living intelligence. For seven years, Uranus, the Maverick, has been shaking that ground not to punish, but to awaken. And now as Uranus turns forward for the last stretch of its time in Taurus, the message is unmistakable. There is no return to the old stability, but there is a chance to build a truer one. This forward motion doesn't arrive quietly as your honor stations or stands still and begins to move again in Taurus, both Mercury and Venus and Aquarius form tense squares to it. That means they're 90 degrees away from each other. Mercury, the Communicator, and Venus, the relational one. Our stories, our values, our shared agreements are rubbing up against a reality that refuses to be managed or spun. This is where we see the collective expression. Clearly the unrest. The protests, the outrage moving through the United States and beyond. These are not isolated events. They are expressions of a deeper truth people can feel when the systems governing their lives no longer reflect their values or protect life itself. The sign of Aquarius brings the voice of the people, the planet. Uranus, brings the refusal to comply with what is unjust, outdated, or life denying. This tension isn't meant to be resolved quickly. It is meant to reveal and alongside that friction. Something quieter, but no less important is happening. Both Mercury and Venus are also making harmonious connections to Chiron and Aries, the wounded healer archetype. This tells us something crucial. Yes, there is collective agitation. Yes, there is anger and rupture, but underneath it. There is also a healing process underway around identity agency and the right to exist as oneself, Kyron, and Aries asks, where have I been wounded for daring to be who I am? Where have I learned to shrink, comply, or go silent in order to survive? The supportive links from Mercury and Venus to Uranus suggest that honest conversation and values-based relationship can become part of that healing, not by smoothing things over, but by telling the truth, by naming what hurts, by speaking from lived experience rather than ideology. Toward the end of the week, on February 6th, mercury enters Pisces beginning an unusually long stay in this sign, due to its upcoming retrograde motion, this marks a noticeable shift. The mind moves from analysis to atmosphere, from argument to intuition, from certainty to ambiguity. Mercury when in Pisces doesn't ask us to have the answers, it asks us to listen more deeply, to dreams, to symbols, to what is dissolving as much as to what is forming. All of this taken together this week is not about making a plan. It's about recognizing where the ground has already shifted. And allowing your thinking, your relationships, and your sense of self to catch up as Uranus prepares to leave Taurus for good in the coming months. One question seems to matter more than any other, what kind of stability are you willing to build now that you know the old one was never guaranteed. Stay present, stay honest and remember. Disruption is not the opposite of wisdom. Very often it's how wisdom arrives. I, as this week closes, it's important to say this plainly. The outrage many are feeling is not a failure of regulation or spirituality. It is a healthy response to real harm. Uranus moving forward in Taurus exposes what threatens life as it at its roots. And the Aquarius tensions remind us that when systems turn cruel or unaccountable, the human field responds. What is astonishing and worth naming. Is not only the horror of what is unfolding, but the quiet courage moving alongside it, neighbors protecting one another. People organizing without violence care networks forming where institutions have failed. This is not chaos. It is conscience. The astrology cycles. Do not ask us to harden or look away. They ask us to stay present, embodied and ethically awake. Remembering that collective awakening often begins not in comfort, but in the moment we refuse to normalize what wounds life hold steady. What is rising now is not only resistance, it is a deeper remembering of who we are to one another. As you move on from these moments, let your feet find the ground beneath you, and remember that staying human, present, caring, and awake is already an act of courage. Here are several reflection questions for you this week. Where has my sense of security already changed financially, physically, or emotionally, even if I haven't fully acknowledged it yet? When I feel agitation, anger, or restlessness, personally or in response to the collective, what truth might be trying to surface through that energy and where am I being invited to speak? Relate. Or choose more honestly, even if it disrupts comfort or agreement. The poem for this week's podcast is such a powerful one and really speaks to me the essence of revolution and liberation, the energies that Uranus offers us. It's called kindness. By Naomi, she high. Before you know what kindness really is? You must lose things. Feel the future dissolve in a moment like salt in a weakened broth, what you held in your hand, what you counted and carefully saved. All this must go so you know how desolate the landscape can be. Between the regions of kindness, how you ride and ride thinking the bus will never stop. The passengers eating maze and chicken will stare out the window forever. Before you learn the tender gravity of kindness, you must travel. Where the Indian in a white poncho lies dead by the side of the road. You must see how this could be you. How he too was someone who journeyed through the night with plans and the simple breath that kept him alive before, you know kindness as the deepest thing inside you must know sorrow as the other deepest thing. You must wake up with sorrow. You must speak to it till your voice catches the thread of all sorrows and you see the size of the Glo. Then it is only kindness that makes sense anymore. Only kindness that ties your shoes and sends you out into the day to mail letters and purchase bread. Only kindness that raises its head from the crowd of the world to say it is I you have been looking for and then goes with you everywhere, like a shadow. Or a friend. So dear ones, in the midst of upheavals and ruptured and outrage, may you be deeply rooted in the ground of your own heart. May you experience kindness radiating to you. May you. Be able to offer it to others and to trust the deeper dreams, the deeper intuitions to trust your process and trust the world's process. Thank you.
