What the Feeling Body Knows

A brief note before we begin.

The next several episodes have been created in advance, during a period when I am away on pilgrimage. I am not tracking the daily news cycle or what is unfolding in real time. If significant things have shifted in the collective field since these episodes were recorded, I trust you to hold what I offer here alongside what you are actually living. The archetypal patterns are reliable. The specific events that express them are yours to track.

___

There is a quality of turning inward this week.

Mercury, the Communicator and Storyteller, enters Cancer on Monday and will remain there, through retrograde, until August 9. Nearly ten weeks of the mind moving through the waters of feeling, memory, ancestral knowing, and the interior life. This is not a week for speed or surface. It is a week for depth and for what the feeling body knows that the analytical mind cannot easily reach.

Key Cycles This Week:

Monday, June 1: Mercury enters Cancer, remaining there through retrograde motion until August 9.

Mercury in Cancer thinks through feeling and communicates through attunement. For those trained by dominant culture to distrust feeling as a source of knowing, this extended transit is an invitation into a different way of understanding. What do you know through your body? Through what arises when you are still enough to listen? Simply notice the shift as it begins.

Tuesday, June 2: Sun in Gemini sextiles Saturn in Aries.

A grounding thread. The Conscious Self connects easily with the Structurer, offering clarity and form. A good day for honest communication and bringing practical shape to what the interior work of the week is revealing. Just enough groundedness to keep the inward turn from becoming untethered.

Wednesday, June 3: Mercury in Cancer squares Neptune in Aries.

Just days into Cancer, Mercury meets the Dissolver. Blur, emotional porousness, the thinning of boundaries between what is yours and what belongs to the collective field. This is not a transit for important decisions. It is a transit for poetry, for dream, for the kind of knowing that arrives sideways through image and metaphor. There is information in the blur. It simply speaks a different language than analysis.

Larger Frame

Mercury in Cancer for nearly ten weeks, including a retrograde cycle, is asking something that dominant culture rarely supports. It is asking us to slow down enough to feel. To treat emotional intelligence not as a liability but as a genuine form of knowing.

The collective shadow surfacing in these times lives not only in institutions and policies. It lives in bodies. In inherited emotional patterns. In what has been passed down through generations without being named. Mercury in Cancer, over these coming weeks, may bring some of that into language. Not all at once. Not cleanly. But with the particular tenderness that feeling-based knowing carries when given enough space.

Reflection Questions

  1. What does my feeling body know right now that my analytical mind has been moving too fast to hear?
  2. As Mercury settles into Cancer for an extended stay, what emotional truths, family patterns, or questions of belonging are quietly asking for my attention?
  3. When the blur arrives and clarity dissolves, can I stay with it long enough to let it speak in its own language?

This is a quieter week in register, though not in times. The invitation is inward. Into feeling. Into what the body knows. Into the long memory that Cancer carries.

Let yourself be moved. Let what is tender have room.

The web of life speaks through the heart as much as through the mind.

More resources are available at the website ontheedgesofchange.com. Hello, and welcome to episode number 367 of the Astrology Alchemy podcast. This is for the week of June 1st, 2026, and I'm your host and guide, Sheila Bélanger. I want to offer a brief note before we begin. The next several episodes of this podcast have been created in advance during a period when I'm away on a pilgrimage for five weeks, which means I am not tracking the daily news cycle, not watching what is unfolding in real time in the United States and the world. That is intentional, and it is also a limitation worth naming honestly. If significant things have shifted in the collective field since these episodes were recorded, and in times like these, they likely have, I trust you to hold what I offer here alongside what you are actually living. The archetypal patterns are reliable. The specific events that express them are yours to track. Thank you. Now, into the week A phrase from this week's poem, "As invisible as the true stars at daybreak." There's a quality of turning inward this week. After the intensity of recent weeks, the confrontations, the illuminations, the full moon asking where genuine meaning lives, something is beginning to move differently. Mercury, the communicator and storyteller, enters Cancer on Monday this week, and we remain in that sign due to its upcoming retrograde motion until August 9th. That is a long stay for Mercury. Nearly 10 weeks of the mind moving through the waters of feeling, memory, ancestral knowing, and the interior life. This is not a week for speed or surface. It is a week for depth, for listening inward, for what the feeling body knows that the analytical mind cannot easily reach. Here are the cycles. On Monday, June 1st, Mercury enters Cancer. It will remain here through retrograde motion until August 9th. This is a dominant signature of not just this week, but the coming months. Mercury in Cancer thinks through feeling. It communicates through attunement. It processes not by analysis, but by absorption, taking in the emotional field, the relational texture, the unspoken currents beneath the words For those who have been trained by dominant culture to distrust feeling as a source of knowing, to privilege data over intuition, speed over depth, productivity over presence, this Mercury transit is an extended invitation into a different epistemology. What do you know through your body, through your gut, through what arises when you are still enough to listen? Mercury will also turn retrograde in Cancer in the weeks ahead. That retrograde will ask for review, revisiting, and integration of what this sign governs. Emotional truth, family and ancestral patterns, what home actually means, where genuine belonging lives. For now, as Mercury crosses the threshold into Cancer, simply notice the shift. The quality of your thinking may begin to slow and deepen. Communication may become more feeling-toned. What moves you may become as important as what informs you On Tuesday, June 2nd, the sun in Gemini sextiles Saturn in Aries. It's a grounding thread in a week that is otherwise moving inward and downward. The conscious self in Gemini connects easily with the structurer in Aries, clarity and form, thought and commitment, the capacity to take what has been circulating in the mind and give it enough shape to be useful This is a good day for clear communication, for honest agreements, for bringing some practical structure to what the interior work of this week is revealing It does not ask for much. Just enough groundedness to keep the inward turn from becoming untethered On Wednesday, June 3rd, Mercury in Cancer squares Neptune in Aries. Just days into Cancer, Mercury makes Neptune in a square. The feeling mind encounters the great dissolver This can bring a quality of blur, confusion, or emotional overwhelm. What felt clear may become murky. The boundaries between what is yours and what belongs to the collective field may thin Mercury square Neptune is not a cycle for important decisions or definitive conclusions. It's a cycle for poetry, for dream, for the kind of knowing that arrives sideways through image, through metaphor, through what cannot quite be spoken directly You might notice this as a day when the emotional field feels particularly porous, when you absorb more than usual from your environment, when something moves through you that you cannot easily name The invitation here is not to force clarity. It is to let what is moving through you move without needing to immediately understand it. There is information in the blur. It simply speaks a different language than analysis So lensing back for this week, Mercury in Cancer for nearly 10 weeks, including a retrograde cycle, is asking something of us that the dominant culture rarely supports. It's asking us to slow down enough to feel To treat emotional intelligence not as a liability or a distraction, but as a genuine form of knowing. To recognize that what we carry in our bodies, in our family lines, in our unspoken grief and longing is not separate from the larger transformation underway. The collective shadow that has been surfacing, the patterns of domination, the wounds of those who have been excluded and harmed lives not only in institutions and policies, it lives in bodies, in inherited emotional patterns, in what has been passed down through generations without being named. Mercury in Cancer over these coming weeks may bring some of that into language Not all at once, not cleanly, but with the particular tenderness and precision that feeling-based knowing carries when it is given enough space This is part of the work. It's not separate from it So here are some reflection questions to support you with your attunement with the cycles this week. First, what does my feeling body know right now that my analytical mind has been moving too fast to hear? Second question. As Mercury settles into Cancer for an extended stay, what emotional truths, family patterns, or questions of belonging are quietly asking for my attention? And lastly, when the blur arrives, when clarity dissolves and something moves through me that I cannot easily name, can I stay with it long enough to let it speak in its own language? I'm gonna offer you a poem for this week that I've offered you before, and it just wanted to come back. For me, it definitely invites communication, connection with something that is more numinous, not cognitive at all, evocative, imaginal, mysterious. It's called Daybreak by Galway Kinnell On the tidal mud, just before sunset, dozens of starfishes were creeping. It was as though the mud were a sky, and enormous imperfect stars moved across it as slowly as the actual stars cross heaven. All at once they stopped, and as if they had simply increased their receptivity to gravity, they sank down into the mud, faded down into it and lay still. And by the time pink of sunset broke across them, they were as invisible as the true stars at daybreak Quietly let your heart and your body and your emotions track what might be invisible to your conscious mind, what might be traveling in its own pattern of deep intuitive knowing, aligned with something more mysterious and bigger than human awareness.
