We are between eclipses. Inside the portal.

The total solar eclipse of August 12 has seeded its arc. The companion lunar eclipse in Pisces arrives August 27. Between these two thresholds, in the compressed heightened field that eclipse seasons create, we are living this week.

Three personal planets activate simultaneously on Monday, the instinctual body, the creative voice, and the relational field all in motion together inside the eclipse field. A week to stay close to what is real, let what is surfacing be seen, and resist premature resolution when honest presence is what is actually needed.

Monday, August 17: Mars in Cancer squares Neptune in Aries. Mercury in Leo trines Saturn in Aries. Venus in Libra sextiles Jupiter in Leo. 

Three significant contacts on one day holding the full register of the eclipse field.

Mars squaring Neptune brings the instinctual protective force of Cancer into tension with the Dissolver. The protective impulse — for community, for the vulnerable, for what is genuinely threatened — is real and necessary. But Neptune can blur the picture, amplifying fear and making real threat difficult to distinguish from projection. Act from what you genuinely know and feel. Hold lightly what is not yet clear. Let the blur settle before making decisions from it.

Mercury trine Saturn offers grounding alongside that complexity. The creative voice finds honest structure. What has clarified in the eclipse field finds form and commitment. A good day for writing, for honest conversation, for bringing eclipse insights into grounded commitment.

Venus sextiling Jupiter offers genuine grace inside a portal that can feel intense. The relational field and the creative heart in easy generous conversation. Real warmth in relationship becomes possible. Let that be felt.

Friday, August 21: Venus in Libra opposes Saturn in Aries. 

The relational field meets the reality principle directly. Where has the longing for harmony been papering over something needing more honest attention? Where has relational beauty been asking less of a situation than it actually requires? Inside an eclipse portal, this honesty carries more weight than usual. What does right relation actually require, beyond what is comfortable or convenient?

Saturday, August 22: Sun enters Virgo. 

After Leo's warmth and creative expansiveness, Virgo arrives asking the practical question: how, specifically, do you want to live what has been seeded? Not as ideal or aspiration but as actual grounded daily practice. Virgo does not deal in abstraction. It deals in the specific and the real.

The Sun entering Virgo also begins the final approach to the lunar eclipse on August 27, the Sun in Virgo opposing the Full Moon in Pisces. The axis of discernment and dissolution. That opposition is already gathering. A sharpening of what is actually here, a clearing of what is no longer needed, a preparation of the ground for what the lunar eclipse will illuminate.

Sunday, August 23: Sun in Virgo trines Chiron in Taurus. 

The Conscious Self freshly arrived in Virgo makes its first contact with the Wounded Healer. Virgo heals through attention, the careful devoted noticing of what is actually present, the willingness to see what is wounded without flinching or dramatizing. You might notice something that has been tender becoming slightly more workable. The trine does not complete the healing. But it confirms the healing is moving.

The eclipse portal accelerates what is genuinely in motion. In the collective field that acceleration is visible. What is breaking down is breaking down more visibly. What is trying to emerge is pressing more urgently toward form. The three great cycles remain active and inside an eclipse season their movement is more feelable than usual.

Stay close to what is real. Stay connected to the body's knowing. Stay in genuine relationship with others in the ways that cannot be automated or performed.

The total solar eclipse on August 12th seeded the arc, and the companion lunar eclipse, full moon eclipse in Pisces, arrives on August 27th. Between these two thresholds, in the compressed heightened field that eclipse seasons create, this is what we're living this week Now, eclipse portals have a particular quality. The usual pace of development accelerates. Often what would ordinarily take months to surface can arrive in days. What has been quietly forming beneath the surface for you often becomes suddenly, sometimes uncomfortably visible. The veil between what is and what is trying to become is thinner than usual And interestingly this week, three of the personal planets activate simultaneously at the very beginning. Mercury, Venus, and Mars all making significant contacts on Monday. Your relational field, your creative voice, and your instinctual body all in motion together inside the eclipse field in the week before the full moon lunar eclipse completes this portal In this week, it's a good idea to stay close to what is real for you, to let what is surfacing be seen, and resist the pull toward premature resolution when what is actually needed is honest presence with what is still forming in you and in the world So here are the key cycles for this week. On Monday, August 17th, three cycles. Mars in Cancer squares Neptune in Aries. Mercury in Leo trines Saturn in Aries. And Venus in Libra sextiles Jupiter in Leo Three personal planets, three significant contacts, one day. And a reminder, astrologers designate some planets as personal planets. They move faster in their orbit around the sun, and they absolutely archetypally align with our personal lives. It gets very much, "Hey, what's happening in my world?" Okay? Mars in Cancer acts from feeling, from ancestral knowing, from the impulse to protect what is genuinely loved and needed. Neptune in Aries dissolves boundaries, blurs edges, opens the imaginal field. Their square creates tension between the impulse to act protectively and the difficulty of seeing clearly what actually needs protecting and from what In the collective field, this square carries a very particular resonance. The protective instinct for community, for the vulnerable, for the ones at deep risk, for what is genuinely being threatened is real and necessary. But Neptune's square to Mars can blur the picture. Fear can be amplified. What is real threat and what is projection can become difficult to distinguish. The imagination activated by Neptune can either open toward genuine vision or toward the distortion of anxiety, which is an impulse the dominator culture constantly wants to build in us to be anxious. The invitation of Mars square Neptune is discernment without paralysis. To stay connected to your body's genuine knowing, what Mars in Cancer does best, while holding Neptune's imaginal currents with enough spaciousness to let clarity emerge rather than forcing it through urgency or reactivity In practical terms, act from what you genuinely know and feel, and hold lightly what you are not yet sure of Let the blur settle before making decisions from it And then we have Mercury in Leo trine Saturn in Aries Alongside Mars' complex encounter with Neptune, Mercury finds something steadier. The creative voice in easy alignment with the structure What has been articulated in the eclipse field, any new understanding or shifted perspective, a creative offering moving in you toward genuine service. This all can find form and commitment here. This Mercury-Saturn trine supports the honest naming of what has been clarified, not with performance or urgency, but perhaps with the quiet confidence that what is genuinely true can bear the weight of structure. This is a really good day for writing, for honest conversation, for bringing the insights of the eclipse week into some form of grounded commitment for you And then we have Venus in Libra sextiling Jupiter in Leo. And so alongside both of these other cycles, the relational one finds easy flow with the expander and meaning-maker. Venus in Libra brings grace, balance, and genuine relational intelligence. Jupiter in Leo brings warmth, generosity, and the expansive offering of the heart. Their sextile is one of the more genuinely beautiful contacts available in the archetypal field, the relational field and the creative field in easy, generous conversation. And inside this eclipse portal that can feel intense and very disorienting, this sextile offers something genuinely nourishing, the possibility of real warmth in relationship, of connection that feels both meaningful and spacious, of the creative heart finding its right relational ground Let this be felt by you. The eclipse portal does not require sustained intensity. It also offers moments of genuine grace I invite you to hold all three of these Monday cycles together. The complexity of Mars-Neptune, the grounding of Mercury-Saturn, the grace of Venus-Jupiter. This is the full register of the eclipse field. Difficult discernment, honest structure, genuine beauty all present simultaneously And then on Friday, August 21st, Venus in Libra opposes Saturn in Aries. The relational field meets the reality principle directly Venus in Libra longs for genuine balance, for the beauty of right relation, for connection that feels both fair and nourishing. In contrast, Saturn in Aries is direct, unsentimental, and honest about what is actually sustainable Their opposition can surface tension in relationships around what is genuinely being given and received, where the longing for harmony has been papering over something that needs more honest attention, where the desire for relational beauty has been asking less of a situation than it actually requires This is not a harsh transit, but it is an honest one. And inside an eclipse portal, that honesty carries more weight than usual because what the eclipse has seeded is asking for genuine ground, not performed harmony Where in your relational field is something ready to be named more honestly? Not to damage what is real, but to let what is real be strong enough to bear truth Venus opposing Saturn, of course, also touches the collective field. The opposition between genuine relational values, fairness, balance, the recognition of each other's dignity, and the structures of authority and reality that either support or undermine those values In a time when so many of those structures are being actively contested, this opposition asks, what does right relation actually require beyond what is comfortable or convenient? On Saturday, August 22nd, the sun enters Virgo. The conscious self moves from Leo's warmth and creative expansiveness into Virgo's discernment, precision, and devoted attention to what is real and whole. The Virgo season begins, the last of the summer zodiac energies in the Northern Hemisphere, and its arrival inside the eclipse portal is fitting. After the Leo ecliptic seeding, with all its questions about creative offering, genuine visibility, and what is being released from the service of ego, Virgo arrives asking the practical question, how specifically do you want to live this? Not as an ideal, not as an aspiration, but as the actual grounded daily practice of what has been seeded Virgo does not deal in abstraction. It deals in the specific and the real, in what the body knows, in what genuine service looks like when it is lived rather than imagined Sun entering Virgo also begins the final approach to the full moon lunar eclipse on August twenty-seventh. The sun in Virgo will be opposing the full moon in Pisces, the axis of discernment and dissolution of what is specific and real meeting what is vast and imaginal. This opposition is already gathering. You may begin to feel its approach in the quality of attention Virgo invites. A sharpening of what is actually here, a clearing of what is no longer needed, a preparation of the ground for what the lunar eclipse will illuminate and release And then on Sunday, August 23rd, the sun in Virgo trines Chiron in Taurus. The conscious self freshly arrived in Virgo makes its first significant contact, and it is with the wounded healer in Taurus and the shamanic one. This trine is a quietly significant moment in the eclipse portal Chiron has recently begun to retrograde back towards Aries, carrying with it the touching in of the Taurus wound of scarcity and embodied unworthiness back into the Aries territory to review identity and agency But the sun's trine from Virgo still connects Chiron, and Virgo's particular gift is relevant here Virgo heals through attention, through the careful, devoted noticing of what is actually present, through the willingness to see what is wounded without flinching and without dramatizing, through the integration of what has been broken into something that can genuinely function and serve Sun trine Chiron in the days before the lunar eclipse suggests that some of what the solar eclipse seeded around the release of egocentric performance, around the offering of genuine gifts and service of something larger, is beginning to activate the wound, your wound, the collective wound.
