This week, we’re unpacking the word “love” as it appears in Deuteronomy 6:5: “You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might.”
But what does love really mean in this context? In our modern world, love is often seen as a feeling or emotion, but the Hebrew word used here “ahavah” carries a much deeper, covenantal meaning. It speaks of commitment, loyalty, and an all-encompassing devotion.
