Breaking The Burnout Cycle
Are you a female entrepreneur who is currently spinning your wheels, doing all the right things, yet continuing to find yourself hitting an invisible wall that is keeping you from the success, fulfillment, freedom, & happiness you want?
You’ve read the books. Taken the courses. Implemented the strategies. You know the “how to”...but somehow they either don’t work for you when you apply them OR you can’t get yourself to stay consistent with them to get them to work for you.
And because of that there is a part of you that wonders deep down
“Why is this working for everyone else but me?”
“Maybe I’m doing something wrong? What am I missing?”
“Am I not doing enough?”
…or worse - “Is something wrong with me?”
And because you’ve only learned one way to achieve success, you now find yourself believing that the only way to achieve your goals is to work even harder. To push and push and push, like nothing else matters, not your health, not your family, not your life.
Here’s the truth: You’re not broken. You’re just burnt out from doing success the way you were taught — the hustle-harder, push-through, ignore-your-needs kind of way.

I don't know if you can relate, but if 2025 felt extremely hard and it felt like it was forcing you to look at parts that were uncomfortable, then you were definitely not alone. And I'm about to share that on today's episode. So stay tuned. Hi, I'm Dr. Rihanna Mulkeghi, and after burning out not just once, but twice, I've uncovered that burnout becomes a never-ending loop unless you uncover the subconscious beliefs at the root of it all. Each week, I'm bringing you brain-based tools and strategies that will help you to identify and rewire subconscious blocks, keeping you from the success, happiness, and freedom that you really want. This is Breaking the Burnout Cycle Podcast. Welcome into another episode. Happy New Year. I hope that you had an amazing Christmas if you celebrate, and an amazing New Year's with your family. I don't know about y'all, but for me and pretty much every client that I have coached this year, 2025 was just like a year that can go and die. And if you can relate, then chances are you went through something very similar to what I call a shamanic death, where everything that used to work for you is no longer working. And if you can relate to that, then it was probably a year that forced you to face parts of yourself that felt very uncomfortable, right? Like it forced you to look at patterns that maybe you thought you outgrew. It forced you to look at emotions that you know you maybe thought you had resolved, and maybe it even forced you to question identities that you had to let go of. And if this is you, then first off, I want you to know you are not alone and you're probably equally excited for 2026. But before you even enter and hit the ground running this year, I want you to take a moment to really look at what happens over 2025. And the reason it's so important to do a recapitulation or a reflection on the past year is because if we do not take the time to actually look at what the lessons were that this past year was trying to force us to grow into, I kid you not, the universe will continue sending you the same lesson over and over and over again until you finally listen. It's like a forced alignment, so to speak. And for a lot of the people uh that I serve, the people that I know as colleagues, and including myself, it was a year of forced alignment because there were a lot of things that uh I was still hanging on to that I had no idea I was still hanging on to. And what I tell each and every one of my clients is that the universe will continue giving you the same problems over and over and over again until you finally learn the lesson, or it will give you what you want. And so for me, it was a moment that was very humbling for me because not only was there a lot of change, and you might have been following along over the past year of episodes, but motherhood and entrepreneurship was extremely humbling for me. I think I had so much uh expectations for myself and what I thought 2025 would look like that did not pan out, and it was a forced alignment of letting go. There were a lot of patterns and emotions such as shame and guilt that I thought I had resolved, but I kept coming and running into the same problems over and over and over again. Why? Because I wasn't listening, and so like I was telling you a few minutes ago, right? The universe will keep challenging you in the same way until you finally are humbled enough to let go and listen. And that's what it was for me. It literally demanded me to slow down, like patterns that were working for me in the past, and oftentimes, like we always think patterns are like these negative things like procrastination or um people pleasing, things like that. But in actuality, sometimes patterns are the very things that are our strengths, and then they become our weaknesses, they become the things that we actually have to be comfortable letting go of so that we can step into a higher level of operating, and that sometimes is very mind-boggling, it can be very confusing because it's like, wait a minute, this pattern of me over-delivering, or this pattern of me working really hard, worked for me at one point and now it's not, and it's because the universe is demanding you to let go of these patterns that are now the things that are actually inhibiting your success, and so a lot of that was happening for me. Equally, there was a lot of things that I thought I had resolved, thought patterns, stories, emotions such as shame and guilt that I thought I had let go of. And it turns out I hadn't. And so this was like a total forced alignment of like you need to let this go if you want to experience a different outcome, if you want to experience a different future, and so this year was like really, really confronting. And if it was equally confronting for you, then first off, I want you to know that the only reason these moments, these years or bad years or whatever we want to call it, is confronting is because it is forcing us to redefine how we perceive reality. It is forcing us to redefine how we self-identify. And that is exactly the epitome of what makes up our ego. And on a spiritual level, there's a reason why it's called a shamanic death, because it's an ego death. It is the death of this false sense of reality that we have learned to create, and it's the universe asking you to shed that so that you can evolve and step into a higher caliber, a higher version of yourself. And it's so confronting because the mind doesn't like change, right? Like, imagine if someone came up to you and challenged everything you ever believed in. What typically happens? Well, we get defensive, right? We get defensive because it's like you are challenging my sense of self. And so it will actually feel like an attack on yourself, and that is essentially what's happening when we are going through these difficult moments that is forcing us to let go to let in. Because it literally is the ending of one chapter of a story as you are being asked to evolve, and it can feel like it is the end, especially when everything is breaking all at once. But I want you to know that it's not the end. In fact, it's actually the beginning, but only if we let it be the beginning, which is why taking that time to really reflect on the reasons why 2025 might have felt so challenging and might have felt so confronting for you is vital if you want to experience a different 2026. Because if not, then the lessons don't get learned, and things never change, and nothing changes unless something changes. But how would you even know what to change if you never took the time to look at what was no longer serving you, what is holding you back, what is working for you, what is no longer working for you? And the simple answer is you can't thinking that you can change without ever looking or taking the time to look at what's not working and what is working and figuring out what do I actually need to change versus what are the things I need to do more of, that would be analogous to like trying to save a plant that is dying. How would you know if you're overwatering or underwatering or any of these things if you never actually took the time to look at the signs? And the same is true with change in our behaviors, change in the way that we think, change in the way that we operate. And so, in fact, this is the number one reason why I have every single one of my clients do a year reflection and take that time to look at the patterns that kept showing up or the problems that kept showing up because those are the things that will tell you exactly what needs to be changed, what needs to be up-leveled, and it gives you a lot of clarity on where to focus this coming year. And so if you would like the eight questions that I have my clients walk through every single year, then I've linked it down below where you can grab eight powerful questions if you want 2026 to be different for you. So the link is down below. And here's to 2026, here's to making it an amazing year, and I will see you next week on another episode. Bye for now.
