SPEAKER_03

Hey Magic Makers, I'm Mom Virella.

SPEAKER_02

I'm Yukita Cosplay, Juju Jones. And I'm CJ Peterson. Welcome to Magic Mickey Mishakisha Wands to the ready because we solemnly swear we're up to no good. And speaking of up to no good, today you get all four of us because we are up to no good with this new segment called Nerd Talk. What is it? What are you all about? It is all of us. And you get to deal with all of us today with lots of fun and exciting stuff. Basically, Nerd Talk is the four of us talking all things geeky and all things fun. To start off today, we're gonna be talking about the Artemis 2 launch and landing. Um, I'm super excited about it because um it was it kind of made a lot of nostalgia stuff for me because I was one of those who watched the challenger blow up thing. And so for me, I hadn't watched one since then because I was so traumatized. So I actually remember the exact moment and I kind of held my breath till that moment. So watching it actually go all the way up was I actually tried to be honest. Um, so when I actually made it past that point, I remember I held my breath till that point, and when it made it past, I was like, show, and then watching it land, I remember like holding holding my breath until we actually heard them come back online after that silence moment, and it was actually really cool. And hearing I I listened to their interviews, and all of the astronauts when they were up there spoke very well during their interviews, and I was very proud of all four of them. So I think I did very, very well.

SPEAKER_03

What about you guys? I loved it. I I loved the fact that my kids got to see the first uh launch like that since before I was born. You know, they haven't been to the moon since the 60s and stuff. It's like such a huge deal. The fact that the space program's active right now. How about you, Juju?

SPEAKER_00

Um, uh I remember seeing, like CJ said, but I was a little bit younger, first grade the Columbia, and um, it was devastating to a first grader. Um so like CJ, I was holding my breath, and when it happened, I cried like a little baby. Oh, it was joyful. It was so joyful.

SPEAKER_01

I was like, what it wasn't on my radar, sorry guys. That's what happens.

SPEAKER_02

It happens. No, I was excited.

SPEAKER_03

We got a couple people already popping in the chat here.

SPEAKER_01

Oh Trevor says hello. Oh, and we have Abby's here strong acting thing, so that's cool, awesome, good for you, and Jeremy Vander. Jeremy Vander's wands, maker of beautiful wands this 2024. We have Mombies, which is I can't remember what point oh anymore. Same thing with CJ's and mine's a 2.0. That's all I remember. I'm sorry, okay. But they're good.

SPEAKER_03

Oh point G.

SPEAKER_01

It's kind of our thing that every time Jeremy pops up, we gotta get out. Did you say you lost a crystal? I'm so sad I lost Arnor. Oh, yeah, and then Jazz says, Great nerd talk, love M3. We love you too, homie.

SPEAKER_02

No you too, huh? So there's a couple things we're gonna be going over today. Like I said, we went over the Artemis 2 launch. We have Akita with NostalgiaCon, we have Ikeda and Mambi with Kemo Kawaii. We have Juju and Mombi with Souls of the Titanic, we have Julie with First Contact Day, and a couple other things going on. So let's start with Souls of the Titanic.

SPEAKER_03

That was such an amazing event. This was uh actually, we learned something special this time too, that this may not be a one-time event, even though this one was perfectly timed for the 114th anniversary of the the was it was the sailing of the Titanic, right? Not the sinking.

SPEAKER_01

Sailing, yes.

SPEAKER_03

Okay, I was gonna say because otherwise that'd be kind of, but it's the same thing regardless, so like technically, I mean just a few days across, but yeah. Uh it was the sinking. It was a sinking? Oh, okay. All right, uh, just fair warning then and let you guys know that I I apologize. Uh, I am on the road today, so we will be uh moving in a little bit, but I will try to keep my background sounds down. But uh oops, might be might be checking out something neat this uh this week that I'll be able to share some of that out too. But yeah, okay, so but okay, you juju, you got there even before me. So explain the explain the whole the whole setup though, because it was really cool.

SPEAKER_00

So uh upon arrival, you you show up at uh Guadala Harry's. That's what it's called, Guadala Harry's, owned by a man named Harry. Uh really nice restaurant. He has a downstairs and upstairs. Uh, you are taken upstairs into their it's more of a fine dining area, or they had it set up that way, anyways. And there was a stage area and then a bar upstairs, and they had it all set up as if all these tables were in the first and second class sections of the dinner area where they ate, like the big galley area where they ate on the ship. And on for first class passengers, they got to get a really cool menu that was it's all the courses that were served on the last night of everyone's voyage. Okay, and uh he had that restaurant put all these together. Some of these things, I'll because you can't really see it on the on there, is I'll just list it really quick because I know we don't have a lot of time. Uh, there's a dessert called Peaches and Chartreuse Jelly, French vanilla ice cream, and chocolate declare. There's this uh drink called the Punch Romaine, it's a cocktail served to first class passengers right before dessert on April 14th of 1912. That's a tough one.

SPEAKER_03

And that was actually the the chartreuse is actually hard to come by, so that was a special one to chartreuse, that's what it is.

SPEAKER_00

And real quick, everyone who showed up, whether you were first, second, or third class passengers, you got a signed piece of art first print. So if they ever get printed again, you have first prints if you got to go.

SPEAKER_01

And it was signed by I was like, that's a strangely original, isn't it?

SPEAKER_03

And he actually did use the uh the coal from the Titanic itself that he got a piece of for those as well. Even on the prints, the smoke coming out of the smokestacks is from the actual coal from the Titanic.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, one more really cool feature. These postcards were on the table. Some of them had art. I like this one because it has Dirk silhouette on it and it looks like circus stuff, but these are real postcards that I don't know if you knew on the ship they had uh this the white star line paid for everyone, even third class, to have postage sent to their loved ones to let them know they're okay and stuff. This was before they were sinking. But they would they would have all these already the passengers didn't have to worry about postage. The irony and the cool thing that um Dirk did is that he everyone who was there, if you wanted to leave a note for somebody with their address, Dirk's company, Souls of Titanic, would take care of the postage.

SPEAKER_03

Yep. That's cool. Which is cool because it's kind of a double-ended uh uh effect there because uh you get the word out about Souls of the Titanic, and uh you also get to send something off to someone without having to pay for the postage on it. Yes, so works in the best for everybody. Uh then um did you let them know you were okay? Yes, they also had a five-piece string quartet there that was uh playing the whole time, and it was absolutely gorgeous. The music was beautiful, and it was music from uh what they would have been listening to on the Titanic. He went through and researched a lot for this, so it was amazing. He has a whole art line that he made that was introduced during this, and he uses um hold on, wait, I remember the word, it's it's artifactism. This is his new uh he trademarked this term artifactism. He uses an artifact from the Titanic, in this case itself, to create a piece of art. So each one has some of that coal in it. It's really cool.

SPEAKER_01

Let me answer a few. Let's see, been to the Queen Mary 2. It was super cool. The Titanic event sounds amazing. And oh, we got a comment from you, CJ. It says you're only in half the camera room. Relax. So I'm guessing it's the uh this version. Yes, now you're good. Okay, and the band played it as it was going down. Stop!

SPEAKER_03

They actually played the last song they played of the night was the song the Titanic was playing as it sank, as the band was playing as the Titanic sank. I was like, Oh my gosh, it was uh nearer God to thee, I believe, wasn't it? Yes, yes, yeah, yeah. It was kind of emotional, actually. I was just like, dang, that's that's something.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, that's so sinks my soul, right?

SPEAKER_03

Oh, and there were so many people that dressed up for it and stuff. It was it was gorgeous, but oh my lord.

SPEAKER_01

Oh hanging fruit.

SPEAKER_03

Okay, but yes, the Souls of the Titanic Titanic was an amazing event, and if they do it again, I would definitely love to do it again.

SPEAKER_00

There should be, and I I think I quoted Dirk a tea time soon.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, yes, there's some more events coming. Yep, so keep an eye out for that. Is souls of the titanic.com, I believe, is simply the website. So and this next one will be a tea potty.

SPEAKER_01

Pot hey, yes. Okay, she's so stuck on the near. I got to, I got to. Oh my gosh, near got to the in where was it?

SPEAKER_00

This one near oh no hot dogs go on.

SPEAKER_01

Oh my god. That's pretty hot dogs, hot dogs, yeah.

SPEAKER_03

See and jazz, real quick.

SPEAKER_01

I think the last song should have been Pink Floyd's Comfortably Numb. Oh that's terrible.

SPEAKER_03

Oh my goodness. Um my goodness.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, stop. Songs that shouldn't be played when your ship is going down. I'm done. Y'all are a little too much. Cut it out.

SPEAKER_03

The sinking ship playlist, trending hashtag Titanic sinking list. Uh no, stop, no playlist.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, bro, no lie. If someone actually makes a Spotify playlist that songs that shouldn't be played when your ship is going down, like the Titanic songs, I will listen to it.

SPEAKER_00

Okay.

SPEAKER_01

That sounds really morbid, but like the idea is funny.

SPEAKER_03

Okay, what is our next topic? I think we've we've got this one. I think we're thinking nostalgicon.

SPEAKER_01

Please move on. Nostalgicon! I'm actually wearing because last year I was one of their winners for uh the raffle. So I'm actually wearing one of their nostalgicon shirts. I didn't wear this year, they knew me. So but it was really cool. Oh my goodness. We there were so many people there. One of them, okay, top three people that we met was if you okay frozen that that could be on there too.

SPEAKER_02

Just happened. The theme song from Frozen could be on there too. Go on. I'm dead.

SPEAKER_01

So so were they. It was on my Instagram, if you know, you know. Um, got to meet um May, and I'm not going to try to pretend to remember her last name because her first name was enough for me. Um, who is um the voice of April O'Neal from one of the Ninja Turtles and Texas 200. She was the duff. If you ever watched the duff, there you go. She was the duff. She was really super cool. 10 out of 10 would recommend watching her stuff. She's awesome.

SPEAKER_03

Wait, was she the one that was also the mom from Halloween Town? Nar. No, okay, not because I just found out that April O'Neill on one of them was the mom from Halloween Town.

SPEAKER_01

And I'm like, that's Judith Hogg. Yeah. No, this version of April that she played was the one with the leggings and shorts, and she looks like not the other April's. So that's her.

SPEAKER_02

Gotcha.

SPEAKER_01

Um, but no, that's Judith Hogg. Met her too. She's awesome. Met her dressed as April, so that was also awesome. Um not at this, not at this con, but like at other cons. Anyway, so met them. Actually got to meet Seth Green. So the guy who does who's Dr. Evil's actual son. He cried that there's a daughter.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, you remember him from Dr. Evil's actual son. I remember him from Buffy the Vampire Slayer. No, okay.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, yeah. He's also the voice of the what's his name? The Peter Grippin'son. Huh? Yeah, he does the voice of Peter Griffin's son from Family Guy. Chris, thank you. You're welcome. So got to meet him. He was awesome. There's a lot of other cool people like the the this. If you know, you know. There's actually a candle at Get Fictional that describes the people that were there. Wait. Which one? Was he an independent? It's just Twilight.

unknown

I know.

SPEAKER_01

The people from Twilight were there. Yes. And so he was. No. That's in my hand. There's a candle I get fictional in Conroe that says. Anyway, so got to meet them. There was an awesome vendor that I'm pretty sure we bought 90% of them for booth. If not 50% of it, because I'm not gonna lie. Um, on the vendor aspect of it, all right, unpopular opinion. Here we come. There wasn't a lot of nostalgia at NostalgiaCon. Because tell me why Rumi from K-pop Demon Hunters, which was a 2025 release, was there? Okay, that's okay. Let me narrow it down from a millennial perspective. Nostalgia is anything from 80s to early 2000s. Yeah, not 2025. No, she's cool, but she's not nostalgia.

SPEAKER_03

That's pop culture.

SPEAKER_01

That part. So anyway, no shade to her, just like nostalgia con. You did that wrong. And there was only honestly, only two vendors of the entire con that were actually vintage nostalgic vendors, and one of them was my 80s closet. I bought a Mickey phone from her and a lot of viewfinders, and she's got all sorts of cool stuff, so shout out to her. Um there was actually one of my favorite friends, Nona Rays. She was also there, she's a creator. There was a lot of random stuff, but like cool stuff at the same time. She makes her own stuff though. But like look her up on the Instagrams, Nona Rays. For for that little snip bit, our opinion is that, but for the most part, NostalgiaCon was pretty stinking great. Also, one of my favorite uh uh I guess he's a YouTuber, he's a dancer. Everyone in the dance world knows him. Fiction, he was there. He did a really cool, like karate move set with a guy with red hair. Please don't come for me. I don't know a lot of this stuff. I wouldn't know when it came out, please. Names are elusive. Okay, but it's awesome. Look at the video, I'm sure you've seen it if you follow fiction. Because I know he had it plastered all over his Instagram, but yeah, nostalgicon was nostalgic. But next to it was uh thriller con, and that was a vintage, actual vintage um convention where it was basically a giant resale, which was really cool. Got some stuff from there, got myself a new leather jacket for Spinelli that's actual leather, and I'm really excited to get that all together. We've got a bunch of VHS, a lot of them that were like from 80s and 90s, and then like cartoon times. Great, great stuff. Could not say more about that. That is awesome. Awesome.

SPEAKER_02

Okay, so heading over to we were kind of low on time here, heading over to Kima Kauai.

SPEAKER_03

Ah, Kima Kauai College Station, it's first year in college station.

SPEAKER_02

We finally got the car, mommy might have done something at Kima Kauai.

SPEAKER_03

So I uh I wasn't planning on this, but I was told I should go ahead and do it. So I did the cosplay contest because I don't do them very often. And um waiting for I look over at UK and I go, hey, you know what? I think I'm gonna go ahead and just change into my casual Raven t-shirt version. And she goes, No, no, just wait. Uh it's almost done. You want to film it and stuff anyway. So I'm like, okay, and they're at the last one, and I'm looking around trying to figure out who they're talking about. And she's talking about how this person has really grown in their cosplay, and they they've just started, you know, from the beginning and and grew into this thing. And uh Princess TN says, and my judge's choice award goes to Momby, and I'm like, congratulations. That's my name.

SPEAKER_01

Yep, and I was behind her and I was like, That's you, and I like pushed her towards the stage.

SPEAKER_03

So I got my first cosplay award. I can't believe it.

SPEAKER_01

You deserved it, Vestie. Congratulations.

SPEAKER_03

Thank you. I would show it, but it's at my house and I'm in a car. So sorry.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, she'll post it.

SPEAKER_03

She'll post it. Yes, I will share that later. I I'll share my my autograph I got too, because it was um the voice actress of Rima Toya from Vampire Night, and like I was very excited about that too.

SPEAKER_01

But yeah, I was in law too.

SPEAKER_03

She was really cool, she was so nice, yeah. And she may someday in the near out so distant future possibly be on this podcast too. So that'd be amazing.

SPEAKER_02

Uh listening to find out, guys. Um, how else did they go? What guests did they have and stuff?

SPEAKER_03

Let's see. They had um they had a they had a number of voice actors and voice actresses that were there. Umbo panda.

SPEAKER_00

So I was about to say I saw the combo panda guys.

SPEAKER_01

Yes, um, the cosplay people, the cosplay guests were um Princess Tian, Fairy Le Fay, Um. Oh my god, my brain just blanked and I know who all of them are. Cosplay, there you go, and I meep.

SPEAKER_03

Yes, I I had not actually met her till this one. Um, and then um the uh the other thing I wanted to mention is this was the first Kima Kwai where they had an Idol fest. So they had the uh like it's this very energetic performance, and we actually had our first one we've ever had on the podcast was Cloud, and she was in charge of it. So she helped head up the Idolfest that they did at Kima Kwai College Station, and it was so much. Uh I know you can't Had to leave before because we both like had to drive all the way back home and take care of stuff. But um, I ended up staying, I wasn't expecting to stay the whole time, and I did because they did such a good job, they had so much energy and they were just adorable, honestly, like absolutely adorable. And uh I I videoed the whole thing, so hopefully I'll be able to share that out without um copyright issues later. But um uh cloud was so dedicated, she got to the very end. She goes, Okay, all you stay and I we've got a surprise for you. And they had a big thing where they all came up and did it together because each one had their own little group or or individual one that they did before that. And right as she started, she goes, I think my wig's gonna fly off in this. And right at the beginning it did it, just floop right off the stage, and she kept going like the whole way through. It was just like it was awesome. It was awesome. Um, the only thing I feel bad for from it was um the uh the judge AI meep. Um, she um sorry, she kind of fell off the stage, and I did catch that on camera.

SPEAKER_01

Oh yeah, too far back and uh one from the film.

SPEAKER_03

The stage wasn't against the wall and it had a banner, but it so it looked like it was against the wall, and it must have just been like a foot or two on there. But uh yeah, it was uh I felt so bad.

SPEAKER_01

That's it. Now I think I'm not even gonna go. But luckily Princess Ann was doing her next thing and helped pull her back on the side.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, no, there she was no one was harmed in the uh in the in the judging of the cosplay contest. Falling hard for the cosplayers, got it. Yeah, it was amazing, it was a great first year. I honestly think uh oh the Hilton is where it was, and the Hilton actually worked together with them, and they even made food, which um they made the labels with Kimokoi and the Hilton, like in conjunction on the labels for the food. So that was really neat. Um my daughter said it was all too spicy for her taste, but you know, she's got a flannel mouth, so that's the that's her thing. Uh anything I'm missing?

SPEAKER_01

They had pretty good food, they had boba there too. Oh, they wasn't like traditional boba.

SPEAKER_03

That was good, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, uh we're gonna head over to Julie for first contact day.

SPEAKER_00

Yes, first contact day. Usually it's on April 5th, uh, in the universe of Star Trek, April 5th of 2063. Zephram Cochran, who is the father of Warp Drive, had to did his first test drive and was able to get the con uh get the attention of the survey ship of Vulcans, and that is how first contact day was made. We celebrate that in USS Avala, which is a branch of uh Starfleet International. Uh, we usually try to celebrate that near the 5th, but this year we celebrated on the 11th at our friend Brandon's house, and we had a lot of food and drink. And I had a video, but I'm not gonna be able to show it. We don't have enough time, but it's really great. And what we do there is we have a big old party and we celebrate first contact. We have uh everybody brings food. I brought pierogies because that was Steph from Cochrane's favorite food. Um, and uh and we just have a good time. We also have just a little bitty meeting sometimes to take care of business if we haven't seen each other throughout the month. We have a lot of things we do, like conventions and stuff. So sometimes when we have parties, we have meetings, but it was super fun, and I can't wait till next year.

SPEAKER_02

Um you gotta put Jeremy's question on there.

SPEAKER_01

Oh boy, here we go. So did the Artemis make first contact?

SPEAKER_00

Ah the Artemis, uh he meant the Artemis? Artemis, yeah. Yeah, he meant the Artemis too, the the spaceship that went up from actual Artus.

SPEAKER_02

They would have that would have been a perfect question. I guess they're uh we don't know. Because they were on the other side of the moon, so that would have been a good question.

SPEAKER_00

Technically, we only know what they released, so your guess is as good as mine.

SPEAKER_02

That would have been a really, really good question. I think that would have been perfect. So, Julie, you also made a little pit stop.

SPEAKER_00

I did. Um, we were gonna do Traders Village as a team, but we decided not to because of weather. But I took my nephew and my kiddo, we did a little shopping, they got to see Optimus Prime. I got to see pop soap people. We got to meet them, Yakita, and I got to meet them at Eastern Rim last year. It was so cool. Um, and their soap is amazing. That smells so good. Really quick, my favorite is um the Beetlejuice. I don't even know what that smells like, but it's like it's lovely. Um, Dragon Ball Z, it's like lemon and orange, yum, and pineapple coconut. What, what? Okay, I'm good.

SPEAKER_03

That's a lot of good smells. I've actually bought from them at uh I think they were at Pop Culture, and I got the Fight Club soap, and I can't bring myself to use it because it's so perfect.

SPEAKER_00

But it smells so good, and she's gonna be back at Eastern Room.

SPEAKER_02

Wait, what does Fight Club smell like? I don't even know.

SPEAKER_00

No, I want to smell and gunpowder. Um I don't know. Talk about Fight Club.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, there we go. I never watched it. Uh but the first soaps I ever bought from there were all the house soaps, so Griffin Door, Hufflepuff, Slytherin, and Ravenclaw. Had to. Oh no, I gotta get some of that.

SPEAKER_02

I'm just curious.

SPEAKER_01

What do those ones smell like? Mine smelled like um dragon's blood, orange, and grapefruit. Okay, what's ravenclaws?

SPEAKER_00

I don't remember. We used them two years ago. Oh, okay. Oh, we now we gotta talk to her and ask her if she can remake those, like bring them back. Yes, hi, Karen.

SPEAKER_02
