And Juju and me got to do Eastern Rim, which was a blast. Um, the cosplayers this year, they did such a good job. Like it really they stepped up the game. There were some great ones. It's always fun, and there's always cosplayers there, but there were more this year than I've ever seen at it, so it's really awesome.

Lucy Lawless, and that is literally more than half of the appeal. Like, she's she's she's a mama, she's a pretty lady, she cosplays her very well, she's got the personality, she literally has the hair. It's kind of crazy.

What's the the funny thing to me is like she's about our height, and so like she's shorter than Lucy Lawless, and so she I call her kind of a pocket-sized Zena, but she looks just like her, but she's shorter, so um uh do you have do you have a haul from from this week from Eastern Rim Juju?

I do have it's a small haul. It was so funny. Chloe and I, I brought my daughter, my 15 year old with me, and we both were thinking of the same thing. Books. We got books from and the authors were there to sign the books. Oh my god, we got the same books. Oh my goodness, they were our they were our series, yes, design it, yes, yay. Claire is an awesome longtime friend, and uh I never knew that she wrote like this. She is so amazing. CJ's gas top, she got the series. Yeah, she's got she got more of a series.

She was amazing, but this was my favorite thing. Like, I've gotten a few unusual things autographed, and these are 3D printed uh versions of her actual weapon from the show that she uses, and you can see in the picture she's actually holding it, so it's really cool.

I got this, and this was actually just a I it actually was at a table where she had a lot of the random stuff, and um Twist in Time, I believe is the name of her booth that she does at the events, and she has a bunch of different things. This was uh my one of my favorite Draculas right here, Gary Oldman. And uh actually, ironically, I think it's a print from one of their actual pieces because it's autographed from the artist that did it.

Oh, okay. Everybody needs to grab their tissues for this because Oh my gosh. Yes, it's one of those kind of stories, but it's not a sad story, it's a happy story. And I'm just gonna read it because um sometimes I get tripped up on my words, and earlier wording wasn't great for me. So I'm gonna read my own words that I um edited earlier. This week at Comica Palooza, I experienced one of the most profoundly moving moments I have ever had while serving with the USS Avala. As many of you know, we attend conventions with our interactive Star Trek exhibit. We proudly collect donations for kids' meals, helping provide food for preschool children facing insecurity here in Houston. Throughout the event, we welcomed countless guests into our little corner of the galaxy. Photos, laughter, shared fandom joy. Then something extraordinary happened, y'all. A single mother and her son came through our exhibit. They began speaking with our wonderful local Klingon friends who quickly realized that the story she was telling uh needed a Zavala representative to be heard. So they brought her to me with tears in her eyes and emotions in her voice. She shared that she and her son are beneficiaries of kids' meals. And I was completely overcome. She told me how much it meant to her to meet the very people supporting an organization that helped her and her family. I was completely overcome. And in all that time, we've collected donations, spoken about our mission, and encouraged generosity. The why behind what we do never really stood directly in front of me in such a deeply, deeply personal way. As tears fell, so did mine. And I hugged her tightly and I said, No, the honor is ours. Because it truly was. Sometimes we raise money for causes and never get to see the lives that touch on the other side. This time, the mission walked right into our booth hand in hand with her child. To that brave mother out there, I really thank you for sharing their story with me. I thank you for trusting me with your emotions, and thank you for reminding every single one of us why service matters. This is why community, this is what community looks like, this is what compassion looks like. This is what Star Trek taught many of us to strive for infinite diversity and infinite combinations and infinite humanity.
