Speaker 1

Number one is we have a boot camp called the Better Marriage Boot Camp .

Speaker 1

If you desire to have a better marriage jump over to KenandTabithacom hit it in the show notes below study on what we offer . We have a 12-week program that we take you through as personal coaches and we basically give you the top 12 things to help our marriage go from divorce to a great marriage . And even if your marriage is really good , it can actually get better . If it's great , it can still get better and we want to help you get there . But marriage does take an investment .

Speaker 2

Absolutely . You know , I'm one of those self-help type kind of people Like I have a library of books at home , of books at home , and it's all about just . You know , I want to get better in my love walk with grace . I have a lot of health books , a lot of gardening books . I have books about everything . But this boot camp it's not a book , but it is really a self-help , it is an instruction manual . It's that kind of thing that will help you be better as a wife , be better as a husband and therefore your marriage will be better .

Speaker 1

There there's a lot of people that really they've been through marriage counseling and it's been okay , but it hasn't been exactly what they needed and we believe in marriage counseling . But if you've done that and that wasn't a great fit for you , try to boot camp . Or if you're going through marriage counseling but you need a oomph , try to boot camp . It is a very affordable way that you can do at home on demand .

Speaker 2

It's practical , real life .

Speaker 1

Practical , purposeful , powerful . All that All right . And of course , if you're anywhere in Florida , come worship with us yes . This is our God first summer and we're doing some teachings and things that I know that you would really enjoy . So we hope to see you at one of our campuses Orlando , gainesville , tampa . What's up ? Love y'all in Florida . Hey , you send over questions y'all and every once in a while . We just want to take a segment .

Speaker 2

We have to answer some .

Speaker 1

And we need to get into your questions . You know , it's one thing for us to get up here and we kind of just talk about whatever we feel like God's given us and we share principles and things with you , but every once in a while we want an episode where we just jump into real life , raw , relevant information and questions that you guys have sent over to us . Today happens to be that day . Come on , come on somebody . If you have questions that you would like us to answer in future episodes , please email us right now . The email address is in the show notes . Let us know what your questions are and hopefully we'll be able to answer some of those at a future time as well . But here's some that came in today . Sweetheart , are you ready ?

Speaker 2

I think so .

Speaker 1

All right Now , we have not looked at these questions because we like for them to just be what God is saying in the moment , or from our experience . I mean , I'm not going to be that deep and say it's what God is saying in the morning , but we do pray and we do try to lean into the Holy Spirit . So we do want an answer that we feel is spirit led . That's just how we live our life , but at the same time , sometimes it's not that deep . It's just what we're thinking . Here's some advice . It's up , and whenever you listen to anybody , can I just give you great advice Always just take the meat , leave the bones .

Speaker 1

Take the meat , leave the bones . And sometimes you say things to people and it just falls wrong and he's like I don't know about that . Well , that's fine , because not everything that's being said by another person is supposed to be exactly falling exactly how you need it , especially when you talk to thousands of people . You always take the meat , leave the bones . But we got a lot of meat for you today . We got ribeye , we got some turkey , we got some meatloaf , we got whatever your favorite meat is I'll take the turkey , yeah .

Speaker 1

No girl , you know you eat it . You're a beef eater . Stop it .

Speaker 2

That is true , I do . Well , you said ribeye , I don't know .

Speaker 1

What kind of steak do who she is ? I know her better than she knows . You want a New York strip problem ? I do like the New York strip . Y'all help us . Anyway , here a person wrote in . They said you've stated that divorce is out of the question if you have done everything . Does this apply to only one person trying ? How can marriage work if the other person ?

Speaker 2

is in denial , so divorce is out of the question if you haven't done everything as well . Well , the way that it says is you have stated , so divorce is out of the question if you haven't done everything as well .

Speaker 1

Well , the way that it says is you have stated that divorce is out of the question if you have done everything , so maybe it's if you haven't done everything .

Speaker 2

Yeah , Because if you've stated that you know people come to me and you say , well , did you do this , Did you ?

Speaker 1

do this ? Did you do this ? All right ? So here's how we got to start . If you send in questions , they have to be spelled appropriately , If you want a real answer .

Speaker 2

You got to spell check this . First we have to interpret the question , then we have to figure out the answer .

Speaker 1

We got to bring out the interpretation of tongues here . Will the interpreters please come forward ?

Speaker 1

to help us understand the questions of the people . So if you have stated that divorce is out of the question , okay , let's just assume that this person has done everything . But we said divorce is out of the question and we haven't said that because divorce is in the question if there's a biblical out . But you know , god hates divorce . We hate divorce . Okay , does this apply to only one person trying ? How can marriage work if the other person is in denial ? So take the meat , leave the bones from the question .

Speaker 2

Yeah , I'm going to assume that this is coming from a person who they feel like they're doing everything in the marriage , but the spouse just doesn't care . They probably they want to be in the marriage but they're just not putting effort forth to make it better or make themselves better in any way .

Speaker 1

Okay , yeah , talk to them .

Speaker 2

I think you know I don't really have . You know , I feel like I don't have a great answer for that .

Speaker 1

Okay , stop , then I'll get it .

Speaker 2

All right , here it is .

Speaker 1

My name is . Ken , and I'm your friend . First off , I want you to hate what God hates and love what God loves God hates divorce .

Speaker 2

You're already starting off better than what I would have . Yeah , yeah , yeah .

Speaker 1

I got it . I got it All right . God hates divorce and you have to come to the place where you hate divorce . You don't hate the people who have been through a divorce , because many people have and there is life after divorce , yes , and also , if you have a biblical out , we call them the three A's abuse , abandonment , adultery OK , it doesn't mean that you have to throw away the marriage , but it means that you , you need some counsel , you need pastoral help , maybe even therapy , to determine what your next step is . If there's been that , let's assume that your question is not about that , because if there has been adultery and you don't want the marriage that's OK .

Speaker 1

Ok now , if you , if you , if you , there's going to be other things that you got to go through . There's going to be another harvest , there's going to be other healing that you have to go through . I need you to consider everything that goes along with that step as well . But I want you to move on . Have peace . God's going to restore . It's going to be good . You've been a victim in this . Okay , let's assume all right that that's not the case . It's not abuse ? All right . If it's abuse , get to a safe place .

Speaker 2

If it's abandonment .

Speaker 1

You can't wait around for 25 years for somebody to come home if they just left . If it's adultery , there's been infidelity Okay , let's put those on the side for a second . Okay , that person's not doing anything . I will remind you of 1 Peter I think it's chapter three , it might be chapter five and it says that a man can be won by the lifestyle of his wife , meaning that if a person is not even living for God , they can be won by the lifestyle of his wife . Vice versa , I think the principle is vice versa .

Speaker 1

Even though it's talking about a woman winning her husband , he or she can be won by how you conduct yourself . What does that mean ? That means that if you do not have a biblical out , the marriage covenant is so strong it's supposed to be such an oath and commitment , if there is no biblical out , that you are supposed to figure out a way , by faith , to live in a way that will eventually win that person , first and foremost to Jesus and then back to you . Here's the hard part . I don't know if that's going to take one month , 10 years , 30 years or a lifetime . That's why you got to be very careful about who you marry . I'm not saying that God is calling you to live a life where you are unfulfilled and unhappy all the days of your life .

Speaker 1

But at the same time , if you have decided to get into the covenant of marriage , you're going to have to figure out , when you have a spouse that's not willing to work on the marriage , how to get fulfillment , happiness , joy , still inside of that marriage . Meaning that you know what I'm saying . There's a way that you're going to have to live by faith and God's going to use all that to grow them and grow you . That's my opinion .

Speaker 2

Ooh , that's good . Should I comment ? I did that scripture Our you know our first two years of marriage , when it wasn't good . You were no longer interested in marriage . You wanted a divorce . I chose to win you over with my lifestyle Right . I chose to pray . I chose to make you food , even when you turned down my food . I chose to be kind to you even though you weren't kind to me . I chose to do all of those things and eventually , the word worked .

Speaker 2

I won you over with my lifestyle . So it is possible and it does happen . I feel like I want to say this as well in that , because the latter part of this is what I think pulls on me as a wife . How can marriage work if the other person is in denial and she's stating here that she's already tried everything else ?

Speaker 1

So say , let's say you went to cancel .

Speaker 2

I'm letting you speak on the part of a wife , but wife husband whatever .

Speaker 2

So that tells me that you've already went to counseling , you've maybe spoke to your pastor , you've , you know you've already done these things . And so the spouse is aware that you feel this way and you're saying that I feel this way , but you know they don't care . I want you to flip the question and put it on you and say what is there something that's in me that I'm just not happy ? So if your spouse is happy cause you might think they're in denial , but they might just be okay , like I'm good , I'm doing everything I'm supposed to do why are you not happy ? Why are you not fulfilled ? Is there something else there ?

Speaker 2

Sometimes and I was here in marriage , I was in this place where I was looking to you to make me happy . I was looking to you , to you know , at the end of a bad day I wanted you to fill me up and give me some type of purpose and meaning for life , and you could never do that for me , because only Jesus can do that for me . And so we have to switch it in our mind and get our priorities right . That our spouse is not our God , god is our God , and I would just flip that . I would just want to say answer the question in that way . I would just want to say answer the question in that way . Let's examine ourself and consider our ways to make sure that if we're not looking to our spouse for fulfillment because it's never going to happen , that's good , I don't know if that made sense .

Speaker 1

Yeah , I mean there's so much color that's needed in the question . It's so black and white . Hopefully that helped somebody a little bit . This person wrote in and says my wife doesn't have a high sex drive , but I do . Sometimes it is frustrating as a male going two weeks or more without sex . What can I do ? You want to start with it ?

Speaker 2

It's frustrating as a woman going two weeks or more without sex . I can't really say that it you know I'm not trying to bring light to the matter , but I , as I , have brought myself to a place where I expect and look forward to and find satisfaction or a that sexual appetite is there .

Speaker 1

Sex is good physically , emotionally , spiritually , everything between husband and wife , and so it should be something that's enjoyed often . And I think the question is so interesting because I think that's common . I think there's a common feel that men are married and they're not having sex as much as they would like to , and the wife can go two , three , four weeks . Now they would have to tell me in the comments if there's a lot of women out there says no , that's not me . But in the comments , if there's a lot of women out there says no , that's not me . But it just feels that there's a culture where the men want it more than the woman . So when you say , well , not me , I don't know if you're the minority or if that's average or the majority quite frankly , I am surprised .

Speaker 2

I mean , especially like in ministry , being a pastor and I lead a lot of women but when I hear and have conversations with a lot of you know couples and I would ask about their sex life and they say that they go two or more weeks without you know having sex , I'm always in my mind like blown , like wow , you know , we talk about this all the time .

Speaker 1

What is going on ? No-transcript . Let your man walk around horny and I don't know if I can say horny , but I just said it .

Speaker 2

I heard it like this .

Speaker 1

I heard it like Okay , let me finish that and then give me the last thing that you want to do as a wife is just to let your man walk around it's not because he can't control himself like he's some dog in heat , but what I'm saying is it relates to you being a servant-hearted helpmate when it comes to you being his lover . A man doesn't get married to not have sex . A man gets married with the thought that I'm going to provide for you , I'm going to care for you , I'm going to love you like Christ loved the church . But we're going to have sex and we're going to have a lot of it , because God has Listen for me . I don't drink , I just don't . I haven't drank in 23 years . I don't smoke . I don't gamble , I don't play the lottery , I don't use profanity , but I'm going to have some sex with my wife . You know what I'm saying . I ain't watched pornography in over 20 years . I'm not flirting with other . I'm going to have some sex with my , my life .

Speaker 1

This is the one thing that I got a green light to do and like . This is the one thing that's like holy , this is the one thing , like , I enjoy , that brings benefit to me . And you and you're telling me that we can't Like . It's hard for a man to just understand that from the very fact of how God has made him All right . Now you had something .

Speaker 2

I was saying , well , I was going to say this and then I'll change it a little bit . I was going to say I heard it like this A friend said that she got married and then her pastor gave her this advice to her husband , because her husband would travel and speak and do this stuff . He said the world is a buffet . Don't let your man go out hungry .

Speaker 1

Stop , pause and think . Stop , pause and think .

Speaker 2

And so , with that being said , now , as a wife , it's my responsibility to kind of like , get into your world and know how you work and say God , what are his needs ? Help me meet his needs , let me be there Like I'm your , help me Like I'm here with you , baby , I'm doing life with you . And so I understand that . I understand the . I understand the male sex drive um as much as I can as a female . I understand how the male is , um , you know , built as far as attraction and things like that . I understand the temptation of pornography everywhere turning on the TV . I could barely let my son watch the Superbowl . I could barely , you know , like my 12 year old son like , oh my gosh you know like I understand the temptation that is everywhere .

Speaker 2

I mean , you can't open up your email without getting something in your email connecting you to a pornographic website , like all of this stuff . I understand what you're up against , and so for me I'm like , wow , he's living this holy life . He's living this life up here .

Speaker 1

Now .

Speaker 2

I'm the only woman that he gets to see . I'm the , my body , my breasts , my thighs only one you get to touch . Look at like baby . I'm your buffet , not out there when you come home , all you can eat buffet , anytime , whenever .

Speaker 1

Let me know , the light's always on , baby . It's like Krispy Kreme and the light's always on . That's the way to live , baby .

Speaker 2

The light's on , and you know I'm saying that like and we're laughing about it , and I know it's easier said than done , because I've been there through . You know you have babies . Listen , I'm in menopause right now . We went through chemotherapy . Oh , my goodness , come on , life is gonna happen . No , in chemotherapy I was like my my , because sex also was intimacy with my husband . I'm like devil . You are not about to steal the intimacy that I have with my husband , and so it . You know , whatever it's important is what I'm saying . It is important and we have to understand that . I think if you understand that then you'll be willing to answer .

Speaker 1

Can I answer this brother's ?

Speaker 2

question . This is outrageous , she's upset . She's angry .

Speaker 1

What did we say ? What is that ? Remember when we was watching that show . I'm enraged . Nobody else gets it , but this is outrageous . We was watching this show on the Food Network .

Speaker 2

It was like 100 years ago .

Speaker 1

And they was having a dessert contest and people was making these fancy desserts I mean , these desserts are so fancy , right and they had a guy who makes pies and the guy made like a pie . What kind of pie was it , baby ?

Speaker 2

He just made a regular pie , but he was a pie salesman , he had a pie business , but everybody else was gourmet chefs .

Speaker 1

Right , he made his pie and they gave him a tree . What is it ? A bonsai tree ? And so it was like he was supposed to take the tree .

Speaker 2

You were supposed to be inspired by the bonsai tree and be inspired by the tree . He cut the tree , put the leaves of the tree in the miracle pie .

Speaker 1

He disrespected the tree . So when the judge saw it , he was like I am enraged . And now , whenever there's something that just makes us people like we are enraged , this question enrages us .

Speaker 2

I am enraged .

Speaker 1

Here it is practically , we're not upset . This is real common stuff .

Speaker 2

No , because this is people's lives . We're just playing , and we were there before .

Speaker 1

Listen , this is what you do , man of God . You got to have a family meeting here and you got to sit down with your wife and you got to give her a lot of space and grace . You got to know that the reason that she's not having sex could be many different things Hormonal changes , vaginal dryness emotional changes , the feelings of insecurity .

Speaker 1

It can be she's taking care of the babies . She got babies hooked up to her breast all the time trying to eat . Be she's taking care of the babies . She got babies hooked up to her breast all the time trying to eat . She could be tired , she could just be drained . Your wife is not a bad person . There's something that's going on . So what you have to do is become a master of communication and you have to sit down with her and you have to have a family meeting and start with probing , loving questions . Sweetheart , I noticed that you haven't been on your A game on a scale of one to 10 .

Speaker 2

Where are ?

Speaker 1

you , how do you feel about our sex life ? How do you feel that I'm doing for you ? Scale of one to 10 . Do you can I ask you how you feel that I'm doing Scale of one to 10 . You know , will you ask me that and then you tell her and then try to create some kind of conversation around your sex life ? If you can get her to the place where she can acknowledge that she's not meeting your needs in a place , then the next step would be what do we need to do to meet your needs ? Here's the question how often do you want to have sex ? So right now you're saying two weeks or more . All right , so you're probably wanting to have sex every two or three days and she's every two or three weeks .

Speaker 1

You got to close the gap , try to meet each other in the middle there . And so , okay , sweetheart , can we start off with having sex two times a week ? Okay , if she says blah , blah , blah , blah , maybe you can start off with one time a week , and when I say one time a week , I'm talking about a guaranteed one time a week . All right , but what I'm saying is that what happens is that most times , there's someone who's very have a high sex drive and you marry your opposite . That's just what people do . You marry someone who's a little bit more frigid , and you guys have to have communication and then be willing to give the other person space and grace to meet in the middle somewhere . But I'm going to give you a great key , and maybe you can say it , because what my wife does is that she's just set herself Every other day .

Speaker 2

Every other day is our rhythm .

Speaker 1

It's not saying that we have sex every other day . There are some times we can go a week without sex and there's been times whether it be surgery or be that time of the month that it might go two weeks or maybe even three weeks after having a baby , but basically our whole thing is that we know that our greater point is every other night .

Speaker 1

So if you go two nights , somebody's like , hey , you okay , are you okay ? You know , if we go three nights is everything , do you need anything over there ? I need anything . The light is always on and matter of fact , we'll go into . We just did a seven day sex challenge where we have sex and I was just thinking the other day .

Speaker 1

We need to do that where you do it every single day and after that you'll be tired and probably not have it for the next three weeks . That's how I felt . I was like , okay , I'm good , I'm good this year .

Speaker 2

You felt like that the first day , and then you back on rhythm yeah .

Speaker 1

Yeah .

Speaker 2

I want to say this Okay , cause I kind of skimmed over this part and I do want to be sensitive is that he said his wife doesn . I get that you could be . You know there's menopause , there's babies , there's different times of the month , women's hormones fluctuate . I do want to say this that for a woman I don't a lot of times we feel like I don't want to have sex because I don't feel like it .

Speaker 2

I don't feel like I don't feel it . And I will say , as a wife who's been married for 25 years , sometimes you just ain't gonna feel like it , but that doesn't mean I don't , you know . That doesn't mean I don't want to . It's like okay , I really don't feel like it right now , but , baby , this is . You know what you want to do . Come on , let's do it . Get me in the mood , get you know whatever products I need to use as far as , like , you know , lubrications and things like that . I do what I need to do , and you know , so that I can be intimate with my husband , because Scripture does talk about you know , our body is not our own . That we should not deny one another .

Speaker 1

You know , I would stop you right there and I would say really invest in the boot camp .

Speaker 2

The boot camp the boot camp .

Speaker 1

That we do , you're right , the Better Marriage Boot Camp .

Speaker 2

We go into the details of this Details , and that's why it is A lot of people want the kind of marriage they love it .

Speaker 1

Oh man , I wish I had a wife like that . Oh man , I wish I had a husband like that . We don't really hear that second part , but it's okay , we're going to hear more of it . But what I'm saying is that they want what we want , but you're not willing to do what we've done and we've laid it out for you . So I really just encourage you to get the boot camp married a few times . But I truly believe the Lord has a spouse for me . Most women look at my past and disqualify me . How do you suggest I proceed in the godliest way ?

Speaker 2

Wow .

Speaker 1

Yeah , that question is what is that word when you have layers ? Because I got questions . What is that word when you have layers ? Because I got questions . I got questions about your last marriage , you know was . You know you've been married a few times . That means three or more .

Speaker 1

That means three times so then you're going into maybe your fourth marriage . I think that the women would be right to question and really analyze what's going on with you . Not in a condemning way , though . You know . Maybe you've been through , people have cheated on you , maybe you've lost someone , someone one of your spouses has passed , or maybe there's been all kinds of different things that you've been through . So , in order to really answer the question , you know a pastoral advice would be okay what happened in all of those marriages and they kind of break them down .

Speaker 1

But , as it relates to most women , look at my past and disqualify me . How do you suggest I proceed in the godliest way ? Well , there's a lot of fish in the sea , homeboy , and I believe that there's a woman out there who won't look at your past and disqualify you . There's going to be something that disqualify you . It's not for you to dump on yourself or condemn yourself , or for you to feel like you're the worst person ever and you'll never have anybody .

Speaker 1

Listen to me , there's somebody for everybody . There's people who have done some of the craziest things , but they find love and they find faithfulness later on , even people who's been single , and they find love in marriage , 50 years old , 60 years old . We've heard some amazing , amazing stories . So my encouragement to you , man of God , would be don't give up on yourself . Don't give up on God , but become the best version of you than you've ever been .

Speaker 1

I would look at 1 Corinthians 7 that really gives an assignment to single people in your single season . 1 Corinthians 7 is an interesting read . I think it's seven . Yeah , I think it's 1 Corinthians 7 . It basically Paul is talking and he's saying that I would rather people be like I am , because if a person gets married they have to care for the things of the world , but if you remain single you can care about the things of the Lord . And he says , not by command , but like if I was to give you any advice , it'd be like stay single so that you can care for the things of the Lord .

Speaker 1

I do believe that not a lot of people have that grace to stay single , but if you've done this numerous times in this season , you should be really focusing on overcoming all of your past traumas and the hurt that you've been through , meaning that you should be a whole , focused , unique and satisfied single and if God has somebody for you , he will bring it in the right time at the right way . And if he doesn't , you should be fully fine with just being married to Jesus . That would probably be the best advice .

Speaker 2

I have one thing that I want to add , and this is for people to answer this question , and I think it's for some other people as well . So if I were a single and I met a man who had been married three times , here's what I would want to know before I pursued anything . I would want to know what have you learned from the last time ? I would want to know who is accountable , who are you accountable for in your life ? Who is speaking into your life and who is leading you in decisions ? Because here's the thing Sometimes people get into relationships , you know , and you just don't pick the right people .

Speaker 2

You pick the same person after the same person , after the same person , and so you have a weak spot . And so I would say get a man of God , a pastor , a leader , a mentor , a brother , a group . Get a man of God who you can be accountable to , who will help you in your blind spot there's something , perhaps , that you miss , there's a blind spot that he will see . This person ain't the one and trust them and give them permission to speak into your life in this area . And so that's it . But number one , that would be my first thing If , my if , if someone came to me right now and said pastor tab , you know this guy , I really like him , but I just found out that he's been married three times . We both like hold up wait a minute , pump the brakes .
