All right , sweetheart , are you ready for today ?

Speaker 2

Let's go .

Speaker 1

This person wrote in . They said how do I approach my husband , who doesn't seem to be as serious about God as me ? How do I approach my husband ?

Speaker 2

I would just say simply do it respectfully . Hey babe , let's talk about God . This is how I feel about the things of God . How do you feel about God ? And just ask those questions up front .

Speaker 1

Yeah , I think , depending upon your situation , you've got to be very discerning . I mean , if it's a combative kind of a husband or if a husband who is that kind of believer that's against the church or against the Bible , you have to use a lot of wisdom . But I think it all starts in prayer . I think if you can spend time praying for his heart and mind every single day , the .

Speaker 1

Holy Spirit will begin to soften it and then the Holy Spirit will give you wisdom about when to have the right conversation . So it just determines the temperature If it's a kind of guy that you can talk and he's a talkable kind of person well then , maybe you can just go straight through the front door .

Speaker 1

If you feel like , man , I got to approach this conversation a certain way , well then , start it in prayer , wait for the green light of the Holy Spirit . But then it's what you said , just hey , can we just talk about God ? What do you believe ? And really you might even have to just lead them to Jesus .

Speaker 1

Hey do you believe in God ? Do you believe that God gave his son Jesus to die for our sins ? Why or why not ? This is what I believe . If you would like to pray this prayer with me , and I would just try to lead them to Jesus in the right time , in the right way . But I think the approach is loving , kind , honorable gentle , and timely , Anything else .

Speaker 2

No , and I would say honesty . I just feel lately like God has been leading me to go to church more , or to read the Bible more , or to spend time in his presence more , and this is new to me . But how do you feel about it ? Have you heard God speaking to you ? Like , just honestly , have a conversation .

Speaker 1

When a spouse sees life change in their spouse , they notice . Whether they want to acknowledge it or not , they see it . So when the light goes on in you and you start to resemble the attributes of Christ , that speaks more than any words ever . So that almost prepares the ground for the conversation . This person wrote in and says I've been married for 26 years , Congratulations . Anytime there's a disagreement or argument , my husband sleeps on the couch for weeks . What advice would you give the wife ? I'll let you start there .

Speaker 2

First of all , I'm sorry , like wow , that doesn't feel good . I'm sure it feels like rejection . You know that that doesn't feel good , and so I just want to encourage you that I believe better is possible . And so I would say , let's say , if my husband , if that happened with my husband , he would get into an argument , he would go out to the couch , I would do things to win him over . And I don't know if you watch the podcast and are familiar with us , but there was a time in our lives , at the beginning of our marriage , we were headed for divorce . He did not like me and really didn't want anything to do with me , but what I did was I would do things to try and win him over . I began praying for him . Did was I would do things to try and win him over . I began praying for him . I began being kind to him , regardless of whether he was unkind to me . He would say mean words to me . I would not fight back . I just started showing the love of God to him and eventually he turned around .

Speaker 2

Eventually , the Bible talks about how you can win over your spouse or your husband by your works and by your ways and your lifestyle , and so I took that scripture and , with my lifestyle , won him over and I would say that you know , with the wisdom from God and the Holy Spirit you can figure out what will speak to your husband . But I would say , if he's sleeping on the couch , I'd get out there and sleep on the couch with him , you know . If you know he's going , you know , oh baby , oh , we sleep on the couch tonight . Ok , I mean just , you know , just challenge that . Ok , I'm going to sleep out here with you , not in like a mean way , but in like , where you go , I go .

Speaker 2

Yeah , yeah , yeah .

Speaker 1

I'm going to roll with you , no matter what .

Speaker 2

I got another perspective on it .

Speaker 1

I feel like so if I'm sleeping on the couch , as a man number one , I don't want to be on the couch because the couch is not comfortable and I'm probably paying some kind of money for the house and I don't want to be out of my bedroom . So I'm doing that , number one , to teach you a lesson or to manipulate a situation , or because it's so , I've concluded that it's so annoying being around you that I'd rather be anywhere else or I'm trying to just be mean .

Speaker 1

I don't really know what your situation is , but I think that that's maybe where you want to start of the why . So maybe you know the why he's sleeping on the couch , because the reasons vary . There could be all kinds of reasons why he's sleeping on the couch . She could just be nagging , nagging , nagging , nagging , nagging .

Speaker 1

He's like oh my God , I'm going to go sleep on the couch . Or she could be nice , as could possibly be be , and he's not being faithful , or he's watching pornography and he has something else in his heart and he's on the couch for those kinds of reasons . So I'm not sure of that . If you have the kind of relationship where you can ask him say , sweetheart , why are you sleeping on the couch ? And from the question , it's like anytime there's a disagreement or an argument . So he's either fight or flight .

Speaker 1

He's kind of like running from conflict one of those kind of guys or he feels like he can never be heard in the argument , or he feels like he can never win the argument .

Speaker 2

Or it's manipulation . I'm going to do this because I want you to do what . I want you to see it my way , so I'm going to sit out on the couch until I get my way I think it goes back down to do you know why he's on the couch ?

Speaker 1

And then , number two does he know why he's on the couch ? Because if you can find out that why he's really going to the couch , then you can start to address that problem .

Speaker 2

Yeah , and if you find out why he's on the couch , or already know why he's on the couch , I guarantee you can like I've got some guarantee ways that if my husband was out on the couch I knew how I can get them into the bedroom . I would make that bedroom suite so nice . This is what I really want to say .

Speaker 2

I would just be in the bedroom with no clothes on and I would sleep in the bed . And that's how that oh , you want to , you want to leave , you don't want to come into this . I would offer everything in that bedroom . I mean there's candles , there's rose petals , I mean there's whatever . I , with my wifely ability , I can persuade my man to get into the bed . And then the rest . I mean that you know .

Speaker 1

All right . Next question is this how do I approach ? Okay , no , I got married three years ago and barely six months into my marriage , my husband suffered from a stroke . He can't talk , walk or recall much . I've been his caregiver , but I'm sexually deprived and have felt no compassion ship for years now . How can I satisfy my sexual urge ?

Speaker 1

I'm in my 30s and I still want a baby and to be able to enjoy sex . What should I do ? Wow , man , I'm just first off . I'm so sorry that this has happened and , man , we're going to pray for you and I'm going to pray for you right now . Father , in Jesus name , whoever this person is , I pray for supernatural grace , for her understanding , wisdom , direction and everything that you are . I pray that she receives you in your fullness and that you restore everything that's been stolen .

Speaker 1

Um , this is a really , really tough one . This is a really really tough one . Um , he can't talk , walk or even recall much . I've been his caregiver , but I'm sexually deprived and have no companionship . How do I satisfy my sexual urge ? I don't know . Sweetheart , what is your , what's your advice to this one ? This is a tough one . It's a tough one . I mean . It almost feels like what I want to say , feels tough , but this is a tough one . This is one of those situations like a baby dies , or there's a miscarriage , or there's something that's bad , that's happened , and this is where life gets real really real .

Speaker 2

What is God's will ?

Speaker 1

in this moment is what she's looking for Well , it's hard .

Speaker 2

This is where you need Jesus .

Speaker 1

Yeah .

Speaker 2

The fullness of Jesus .

Speaker 1

Right .

Speaker 2

You need the peace that transcends all understanding . You need the joy that's unspeakable to help you in this area of life and in this phase of life , to help you believe for healing and help you persevere until your husband is healed and you can do have companionship and sexual activity or help you Abstain . Is that the right word I'm looking for ?

Speaker 1

Abstain is right .

Speaker 2

Abstain from sexual desires until you know you Well .

Speaker 1

I'm glad you said all that because it gave me a moment to kind of gather myself , because you know , this is not a question that I saw coming right now . My mom has been dealing with overcoming cancer for a few years . The doctors would call it stage four , but my dad is her caregiver .

Speaker 2

Yes .

Speaker 1

Now , thankfully , she can still walk and talk , but she's been in chemo for four years and she's had multiple surgeries , so there's a lot going on here . Without giving too many details , you know what I mean . Stand by her . I've seen him care for her , I've seen him pray for her , I've seen him love her and I'm not sure you know , I know that their marriage has been changed and their intimacy life has been changed by the look of her health .

Speaker 1

However , when I see my dad , I see real love on display and I think sometimes when we stand and we say for rich or poor , we don't really think that we could be poor together . And when we say sickness or health , we don't really think that we might be sick together and the marriage covenant is actually a bond that is supposed to be strong enough even in times of sickness . So , even though this is really tough to say because of my compassion for your situation .

Speaker 1

I would also encourage you that you can stand by your man in this time , that you can be the one getting out the oil and you can dive into everything the Bible says about healing . Read every book you can put your hands on about healing . Drag him to every healing conference . If you could Do whatever you can to believe God for healing and also restoration . And I know I feel like she's like .

Speaker 1

But this is not what I signed up for and unfortunately there is a tendency to even maybe blame God for some things we go through . But don't do that . Don't do that . We're in a fallen world . If you're going to blame anybody , blame the devil . So when Tabitha , at 45 years old , went through stage three breast cancer and had a double mastectomy and a hysterectomy and different things , I could have got mad at God . But I decided to put all my fury towards the devil and to say for the rest of my life I'm going to serve God , depopulate hell and populate heaven and in where you see sin the most and you see the working of the enemy the most , we have an opportunity as believers to decide to use that as fuel to our fire , because we understand that this life is just a brief moment of time .

Speaker 1

And so , even though this is a hard saying , it's still a true saying that this is a time where you Now still a true saying that this is a time where you now , when it comes to the sexual stuff that you feel it's just like anybody else who's single . They can't have sex . They have to be able to control their sex drive . So , even though you have sexual urges and sexual desires , you're going to have to ask God for the grace to shut that down until he's able to come back around . That would be my greatest advice to you . Anything else that I would give you about leaving your husband or finding somebody else , it would be ungodly and it would be sinful and you just won't hear it from me , so that would be my best advice on that . Anything else comes to your heart and mind .

Speaker 2

No , I agree yeah .

Speaker 1

Yeah , but there's a lot of things that happen to people and when bad things happen , we still have to do things God's way , I believe for him to restore , provide in some kind of way . We pray for supernatural grace in this situation and that God does a miracle in your husband giving him strength back to his body and his brain and his mind and everything that has been hurt , stolen , that God will restore a sevenfold recompense .

Speaker 1

In Jesus' name , we love you . We love you . Okay . This person wrote in and says how do you handle two different opinions on parenting a teenager ?

Speaker 2

Welcome to our house , I think that's just part of parenting .

Speaker 1

I think that Tabitha , she just has a different personality and a different experience and would do things differently , and I think that I would , and it doesn't make my way better or her way better .

Speaker 1

I think that we actually compliment each other . So as long as we don't turn on each other and start acting like we're the enemy , those differences are actually good . But you do got to over-communicate . You do , because teenagers are fun , they try to play you . They try to play you . They come to you and say well , you know , and they come to me if they don't get what they want from you and try to play me off you , and that's why we got to be united , absolutely .

Speaker 2

You know , I think , and sometimes it's like you have an opinion and I have an opinion , and we have to just weigh out , well , what would you do ? Well , I would do this , and we just have to , by God , like , okay , well , this is the best thing to do , okay , yeah , let's do what you said , or let's do what I said , and it's just the communication between one another . Yeah , yeah , yep , that's huge .

Speaker 1

Someone wrote in and they said how do I support my spouse in a season where he is feeling extremely disconnected from me ? Support him through prayer . Number one , because something's happening in his heart and mind . He is under probably a satanic attack of fear , doubt or perversion . Number two we've got to set up safe places for him to talk , so in family meetings or somewhere where you can simply ask him the question hey , I'm a little concerned about you . Is everything okay ? On a scale of one to ten , how happy are you ? How happy are you in the marriage ? And don't be afraid for him to say something crazy like two because sometimes it ain't even about you , it's about him .

Speaker 1

And something's going on with him . I can feel it . Something's going on with him . I don't know if it's pornography , I don't know if it's depression . Something's going on with him . So him feeling disconnected from you don't make it personal . But I think that if you can pray for him and open up communication , hopefully the Holy Spirit can reveal what's going on and then help him get some counseling to overcome what's going on from him , because him being disconnected that word disconnected is funny , it's just disconnected but I got a feeling he's disconnected from God .

Speaker 2

Yeah , I think the key word you said is that it's not about you . So when ? So when he does respond whether it's depression , whether it's pornography , whether it's just disconnection from God , whether it's just feeling overwhelmed , we don't know what it is but you cannot internalize that that's not going to help him . It sounds like in this time he needs you , he needs you to pray for him , he needs you to be strong , he needs you to declare the word of God over his life , and so what he doesn't need is for you to turn around and , you know , internalize this thing Now . Will it hurt , maybe , you know ? I'm not saying that it won't hurt , but just handle your business . Have people that you can talk to , you know . Have you know a pastor that you can go to , a counselor that you can go to , and just don't take on all of that pressure for yourself .

Speaker 1

Yeah , yeah , it's very good advice . Very good advice . Somebody wrote in and says how have you guys successfully navigated marriage , business and ministry working so closely together daily ? Does one person's opinion ever trump the other , or is the goal to always mutually agree ?

Speaker 2

One person's opinion doesn't always trump another . I think there's a give and take . I think we , even though we're so different , we are very strong in our personalities . So sometimes I'm the bossy one . I joke around and call it bossy . Sometimes you're the bossy one , I think , a lot of the times , just me being the wife and you being my husband and like the leader of our family . A lot of times I will that submit to one another . Sometimes it's just like well , I think we should do this , this and this , and you're like , okay , well , if that , if you feel strongly about it , let's do it .

Speaker 1

So yeah , I mean when it comes to working in ministry together and business together and all the things that we do together . I don't remember a season where we've had a hard time working together , do you Well ? I remember a season where we had a hard time working together when you was like the operations manager , like the executive pastor . You thought that was tough . I was going through my own battle back then .

Speaker 2

Well , I think that's the thing you were kind of like , just in a hard place , and so with you in that hard place and then me , you know , running ministry , we were butting heads .

Speaker 1

Yeah , cause she wanted to do things that I didn't want to do , and that was a yeah , that was a challenging season . But as it relates to business and stuff , if I go way back in the day I don't really feel like you know , because I say some people are like , well , I don't want to work where my spouse works or I don't want to do something with them , I need to have this , and then we can come home . We've never had that . I mean , if there's anybody in the world that I want to kind of excuse me , my nose is itching a little bit Anybody that I kind of want to do life with , ministry with , I don't know . It's always been team Claytor , but not everybody has that dynamic maybe . So I'm just trying to figure out the question If they don't have that dynamic , maybe that's okay , but it sounds like he might want that dynamic yeah how do you guys successfully navigate communication ?

Speaker 2

yeah , communication a lot of humble pie .

Speaker 1

A lot of honor to each other . Um , a lot of apologizing quickly . Um , a lot of short memory . You know like when a quarterback throws an interception they say he got to have a short memory . You can't get up there thinking about you gonna throw another interception right right , you know . So we don't make a mountain out of a molehill . We get into a little disagreement , kill it quickly and move on , anything else . How we successfully navigated the different entities and all the intertwining stuff we do .

Speaker 2

Just making sure that we are always on the same page as far as teamwork , because we're both leaders and in leadership and we lead teams of people and groups and staffs of people . I think it's important that we are always on the same page before we go and report this to the team or before we go and , you know , dish out all this information to the team . First , we know we have it together , because I'm not going to spring up something new to you like in front of everybody else . It's like no , we're going to be a team and on one accord first , and then we agree and then we take it to everybody else . I think that's something that we do well .

Speaker 1

I also think there's a lot of mutual respect . So I really think you're super smart and super wise , super discerning . I feel like you have your pulse on everything culture , kingdom , the church so when you speak it has a lot of weight and I like to lean to your counsel or lean to certain things , and I think you respect me the same way as well and I think if I could teach any couple working in business ministry together if there's a mutual respect , mutual submission , mutual honor , your fallouts will be few .

Speaker 2

There might be some , but they will be fewer . Yeah , definitely .

Speaker 1

And so the second part . Does anyone's opinion trump the other ? Well , that's just part of life . There's some ideas that I'm like . This is the way we're going to go .

Speaker 1

There's some ideas that I'm like we're going to go your way . Then there's some things that we're like we shouldn't have done that and some things like we shouldn't have done that , but God taught us something out of that , so we should have done it , so we could have learned a lesson Right , and so I think it's all like we're still learning and we're going by faith . Yeah , anything else on that one .

Speaker 2

OK .

Speaker 1

Let me see if I have one more . No longer physically attracted to my spouse , he's let himself go with his weight and his hygiene . I cringe , there's that word when he tries to get close to me . I love him , but the physical is a no-go until he gets it together . Am I wrong ? What should I do ? I try to just grimace through it , but he can tell and it makes it worse . What can I do ? This is the way I like to end this episode . Come on somebody .

Speaker 2

I appreciate you keeping it real though , because that's how you get help .

Speaker 1

You got to keep it real .

Speaker 2

Okay , so no longer physically attracted , and so in intimacy , you cringe , I think . Number one , the conversations . Have you talked to him about this ? Now you're not going to him and saying , hey , you know , like I'm not attracted to you anymore , but going to him and saying , you know , maybe like hey , I would like it if you could like . How do you sugarcoat it ? I'm very up front , though .

Speaker 1

I feel like I'm front door person .

Speaker 2

Yeah , front door person , not that I would not that I'm not attracted to you , but hey , you , you know , I would like you to fix yourself up some no this is very . You're letting yourself go , or what would you say ?

Speaker 1

on a scale of one to ten . How is our sex ? Okay ? How do you think I feel about our sex life ? Uh-huh Okay , would you like to know something I feel like you could do to improve our intimacy ?

Speaker 2

Uh-huh Okay .

Speaker 1

I feel like you've just gained a lot of weight and you're not taking care of your hygiene . Uh-huh , what can we do about that ? Another opening question Wow . Well , I didn't know , he might say that . Or yeah , baby , I've been working on it . He might say that , or I don't care , all three of those doors is a different discussion .

Speaker 1

Yeah , yeah , you know what I'm saying , but I don't know . So it doesn't matter if it's a staff or an employer . You can go home and think the worst of someone , but until you sit down and then what you think , you think , you know . It's always different . I found out it's always different . This brother might have a health issue . He might be dealing with depression because through her thing you almost side with her because it feels like he's nasty . Well , that's , that's like , dude , you can't be nasty .

Speaker 1

You know what I'm saying Like you just can't be nasty man . Like take a shower , like cut your pubic hairs , like get a manicure . We don't want to get in the bed with big claw McGraw scratching everybody with your toenails . Like get them breath mint . You know what I'm saying ? Go to the dentist .

Speaker 2

Like what does that mean ? Mean ?

Speaker 1

though you know what I'm saying Like .

Speaker 2

So marriage is like all that yeah .

Speaker 1

Like like I'm not who I was when you met me at 21 . You know , what I'm saying . My body's changed . Maybe this has changed . That's changed . There's going to be some wrinkles added to this thing . There's going to be some some some you , Um , so why you're so disgusted with him ? I don't know . I haven't seen weight be disgusting . I've seen . Now , if you're talking about , he used to be one , 50 and now he's four , 50 .

Speaker 1

Okay , I I that that's a mental thing man , there's something going on with him that you got to get them to the psychiatrist with that . But if you're talking , about one 50 to two 50 , I don't know if that's disgusting . Yet I have some attractive 250 people .

Speaker 2

My thing is here . You know , because some you know some of the times when this is a problem , sometimes it's not only his problem . Sometimes it's like what is going on in the relationship that it didn't happen overnight that he gained weight and now he's smelly or unattractive . There was signs all along for months or even years that have been ignored and now it's to the point where you can't stand it anymore . My question is how did it get there ? Where were the ? Okay , and this is for people who , this is for us , all us , to stay on point . This is why we do the boot camp , because we're always trying to get better . We're always checking ourselves because now , how did they get there ? And what do I do not to get there ? How do we learn from it ? Because we didn't ask the question . But there's things that you can learn from it as well . It's just like okay .

Speaker 2

So family meetings there was no open communication . Hey , because I know there's sometimes like you know , baby , my breath isn't fresh . Or I will tell you baby , you ate the garlic today . You drank , you ate the garlic today .

Speaker 1

So garlic taste , so that means I'll be like thank you , no kisses for you tonight . Baby , I can't eat garlic .

Speaker 2

It stays with me too long and it comes out of the depths .

Speaker 1

It's not like on the surface , it's out of it's like . So what does that mean ? No garlic for me , but thank you for telling me that you know so there is no . As a husband , there is no hygiene thing that you tell me and I'm not gonna get it together so that I can have fun with my wife , but , but , but , but I'm tripped out by the question because it's like I feel so much disgust .

Speaker 2

Like it's almost so .

Speaker 1

when you say hygiene , okay , it's only like is it smelly , is it stinky , is it ? When you say hygiene , is it just weight ? I got a lot of questions with that because and then you say I can't even take it . He tries but he can tell , because the basis of of sex has to be love . So the question is do you love him ?

Speaker 2

Yeah .

Speaker 1

And because love covers some of that , I'm not saying that it can be perfect , like , and he can just be McGillig gorilla and stinking , all that kind of stuff Like come and all that kind of stuff .

Speaker 1

You're like come here , baby . I can't see that . I'm so blinded by love . That ain't what I'm saying . But what I'm saying is that do you love him ? And if you don't love him , you have to say what happened . How did I fall out of love ? Because if you're not in love with him , well then his hygiene and his weight is going to be . Who is this man ? That's the man you chose . You took his last name . That's your man . The two have become one . So that's you .

Speaker 1

And you got to have enough prayer and enough faith and enough . Something about you there's , like the woman of God that my wife is carries herself in a way that if I started to fall off into unhealth , obesity , nastiness , just all kinds , there's something in her that's going to come help get me and bring me back to the place of center , whether it's in my mental health , my emotional health and my confidence that I have . There's something in this woman of God that when she sees me going this way , I believe this about you enough that you're going to do something between you and your relationship with God that's going to help me get in order .

Speaker 2

And same here . You do the same for me If you start going out turning tricks or whatever .

Speaker 1

I'm coming If you want . I'm just playing .

Speaker 2

I'm not even offended because that ain't happening . Listen , if you want to go out and do crazy stuff .

I think that my job is to go get you going . It's to go get you and bring you back to your right mind , go to counseling with you , lead you , speak into who you are .

To go to the gym with you to buy you everything . If you start going downhill , I'm going downhill . I'm going to come and pull you up .

Speaker 1

Yeah , we got to do this together Like we are one . So the whole question lets me know that there's something there that was just off and it's been off .

Speaker 1

But I tell you what woman of God you can be the hero in the home . You got to start speaking life over him . You got to start praying over him . You got to start encouraging him . You got to start thinking good thoughts of him . You got to start in your mind you can do this . Now it might seem like you can't do this , but you can do this . Start in your mind thinking he's the sexiest man alive . Come on and start speaking over him internally that way .

Speaker 2

If you're meditating .

Speaker 1

I can't stand him . He's nasty , he smells . Oh , here he comes . Okay , you're not going to be able to function when he shows up because you're not meditating on things that are pure and lovely and of good rapport . But the mind is so strong that you can actually . You know , because the truth is is that one man's trash is another man's treasure and as bad as you think that he is , if y'all wasn't together he will get on some dating website and have somebody else and they will think he the best thing ever . They'd be like come here with your 450 pound self . I want some of you . It would be crazy .

Speaker 1

So if somebody else could see him that way , surely you can see him a little bit better than what you are right now . Why don't you be the hero in the home and start with prayer , encouragement , conversation , intimacy , faith , building him up , communication . I'm telling you you can change some things around . I want to hear this testimony . I believe this woman . I believe this woman can change some things . I believe that guy's in a bad space and I just I'm getting all kinds of things in my spirit about that one . So I'm gonna keep moving . Anything else you want , that's good .
