I feel like this is like our bread and butter here . This is what really got us moved in our relationship with Jesus , when we really understood faith .
Speaker 1Today's episode is entitled how to Build my Faith . We're going to be practical . It's going to be prophetic . It's going to Build my Faith . We're going to be practical , it's going to be prophetic , it's going to be insightful . We're going to give you some of our experience and whatever God has and my hope is for the people that are listening and watching Is that they're going to go out of this place with stronger faith , but also knowing what they need to do to have stronger faith .
Speaker 3Yeah , you ready for that ? I love the topic of faith . Yeah , why is that that I ?
Speaker 1love the topic of faith . Yeah , why is that , though ? I mean it's just why is this important ? What's up ?
Speaker 3I mean it's important .
Speaker 1I mean just because without faith it's impossible to please God . Without faith it's impossible to please .
Speaker 3God , hebrews 11 , 6 . Right , and we want to please God ? Yes , but you can't do it if you don't have faith . The just shall live by faith . We walk by faith and not by sight , and so faith is very important to Christian .
Speaker 1I believe like this is divine timing . I just asked my team and oh , let me stop right there . We have the best team on the planet . We do , we really do . We're not a big team , we're a small team , we're a little family .
Speaker 3But we're a team .
Speaker 1We're a family , we're a team and we're doing big things for the kingdom . I want to give it up for our team , daniela and Jose , come on Our production team , video team , social media team , and they are just amazing . A hundred episodes , a hundred episodes , Guys come on . We didn't know anything about anything , and we still don't know much of anything , but all we knew is that we wanted to put out a platform that would help people in their marriage and in their relationships .
Speaker 1And , my God , I think we've done it . I think we've done it and we love them . We wouldn't be worth half a hallelujah without a great support that is behind the scenes running these cameras , and so y'all make sure in the comments you give it up for them . Today is important . It's like divine timing for me . The hundredth episode , because we ain't been counting , they just told me that it was a hundred .
Speaker 3We just got excited like five minutes ago .
Speaker 1They just told me it was a hundred , but I think it's divine because on the hundredth episode we get to talk about faith and how to build build our faith .
Speaker 2And man .
Speaker 1I'm telling you what this is , what has caused us to go deeper in Jesus , be close to him and see so much , so many of his promises manifest in our life , and so would you consider yourself strong in faith . Why , or why ?
Speaker 3not , I mean yes , I would .
Speaker 1I would Go ahead and talk about you .
Speaker 3I would consider myself strong in faith . I think that I just love faith . Faith to me is like the part that we get to do . You know what I mean .
Speaker 1Like we get to trust God . We get to trust God .
Speaker 3We get to trust God . And so you know , in my mind now , there is something that I'm I think I'm strong in faith , but there's something that I'm not as strong in , and that is grace or receiving God's like there's just the goodness of God and the grace of God .
Speaker 1God's ability for myself .
Speaker 3Yeah , and I'll explain it like this because the Bible says that we're saved by grace , through faith , right , and so there's grace and there's faith For me . So it takes God's grace and our faith to become saved . I am really good at faith part . That's the part that I get to do . I believe I will believe you , god . I will believe I'll declare the word . I believe I will believe you , god , I will believe I'll declare the word . All of that . I love that part . Fight , the good fight of faith . I'm a fighter . Just let me come on , let's do this . I'm ready to fight Lord . I'm good at that part . The part that I'm not so good at and that I always have to work on is the grace part .
Speaker 1The like okay , I did everything I could do , Now I can stand and believe that and just receive . Man , I didn't expect you to start there , but I'm so glad that you did , because I think we need both of those . You need both . You need faith , and then you need grace and you need grace and you need faith .
Speaker 1Yes , Sometimes I feel like we work , work , work , work , work . I don't know how to receive , receive , receive , receive , yes , and then I think there's other people that don't know how to work the word at the same time .
Speaker 3So we need faith and grace . Thank you for that , but we're talking about faith today .
Speaker 1But give me so you , but you consider yourself strong .
Speaker 3I like faith . Yes , I like to fight the good fight of faith .
Speaker 1I don't know why , but um I think that's why we're a good couple , because we're edgy , like yeah , like I'm gonna believe God , like you're gonna believe him for a four-bedroom , I'm gonna believe him for five yeah , like you know , I mean , you're gonna believe him for a campus I'm believing . For two , yeah , I'm just gonna push the envelope of what I believe God can do in my life and it actually makes life exciting . That's why I don't drink , I don't smoke ?
Speaker 1I don't do any of that because I'm just so excited . Every day I actually wake up and I was just thinking in my personal time earlier today . I was thinking like why do I feel so much weight ? And it's been like this for six months when we started . Two campuses in one year . We do crazy stuff .
Speaker 3And this is how .
Speaker 1I feel God asks me to do stuff that I couldn't do without him and I don't know if he does that for other people , but he always asks me to do stuff that I could not do without him . And it keeps me on edge . And to me that's what walking by faith is Like . I'm out on this water because you said come .
Speaker 3You said come , but Lord , please don't let me sink . I love that example . It's stepping out of the boat and walking out on water .
Speaker 1Everybody else too . Worried about being dry .
Speaker 3Everyone else was in the boat .
Speaker 1They in the boat .
Speaker 3The only one that stepped out on water was Peter , and so I'm the one I would step out . I'm the one jumping out of the boat . Now . I might fall down into the water like he did , but at least I got to walk on water . For what ? One , two , three steps .
Speaker 1At least I got to walk on water Together as a couple . Our stepping out of the boat quotient is pretty high . What ?
Speaker 3about , like Elijah , calling down fire from heaven . I'm like I want to be . Like Elisha , I'm smiting the water . Where is the God ?
Speaker 1You want to be walking through the mall like in that name ? Yes , I do .
Speaker 3I want to be like you know .
Speaker 1I love that about you , though , because you don't want to just read it , you want to live it .
Speaker 2Yeah , and .
Speaker 1I would hope that for every believer , that we don't just read it , we live it because he confirms his word with signs following Absolutely . Do you ? What would you say about me ? Do you feel like I'm high in faith Scale of one to ten , ten being like super duper high in faith , one being no faith at all . Where would super duper high in faith , one being no faith at all , where would you I ?
Speaker 3think you're just off the charts . Yeah , I think you're off the charts in faith . That's what I love about you . You know , when we just getting called into ministry I remember you before I knew that . You know I was called into ministry like a pastor before I knew a lot I remember you telling me yeah , well , I'm going to , I'm a pastor , well , god says this . And you would say things out of your mouth like that Before I was comfortable with it , before I understood , like , oh , wow , god is speaking and we have this relationship and all of that stuff . You would just haul off and say stuff and do stuff . Like I remember when you found out about tithing and we didn't know what tithing , you know , we didn't know about it you found out about tithing that you could give a 10% , a 10th of our income , 10% . You started giving it 20% instead of 10% . I didn't know anything . I'm like , okay , fine , let's do it .
Speaker 3Like you are not afraid to believe God you know this stuff works for anything , for anything I mean I just I love it all . I love it Like you know we would . We started growing in God and you would bring people over to the house and be like , just go up into the closet and pick out whatever suits you want . You brought homeless people off the streets into our house , sat them down on our couch , fed them , preached to them . We gave them a suitcase so they didn't have to carry around bags . I mean you just went out and did stuff that I would be like I'm you know . I mean I don't know if I would have pulled you know somewhat stranger off the street into my home and did the extent that you did . Now , I'm glad that you did , but I'm like this guy is crazy . He's bringing a bunch of strangers into our house .
Speaker 1I don't want to talk about it . Yeah yeah , yeah , and you know , faith is kind of crazy . Sometimes it makes you look like they're talking about you're going to build a boat and it ain't never rained before . That's crazy . You know what I'm saying Talking about . There's a law passed you ain't going ain't supposed to pray . You open up your window and pray anyway . That's crazy . You're going to take your son , the one you believe for for all these years , and put them on an altar about to sacrifice him .
Speaker 2God going to provide a ram in the bush . Y'all crazy Right .
Speaker 1Um , I want to be a little bit out of my mind with it . I want to have the mind of Christ and I believe that you can't be so comfortable and settled when it comes to faith . You know , my friend Mike Todd talks about crazy faith and I can bear witness with that you just got to be a little bit crazy to have to have faith , but man , um , I'm pumped already . Um , this stuff gets me going and it reminds me of my roots stuff gets me going and it reminds me of my roots , it reminds me of I love Jesus .
Speaker 1He would say I see your faith . You know I want to have faith . You can see , I don't want to . Just , I think people think that faith is just believing , and that's one aspect of faith is believing speaking and acting . But I want you to see me and say , ooh , he out there , he , he , he believed in God . And I also feel like there are some people who have a really hard time with faith and they have a hard time with me . And that's okay , cause I am that kind of sandpaper , I am that kind of . I bring that friction meaning that if you're a person that's more skeptical , unbelieving , doubting , slow , you're probably not going to be in my inner circle or be able to roll with me too closely . I'm going to love you , but you're going to get on my nerves and I'm going to get on yours .
Speaker 1That's just the truth , because I'm like let's take the city , let's change the world . If there's people in Mars , we preach into them , people you know like let's do this thing . We got one life to live and we have eternity to celebrate what we did or did not do here . Right , let's make it all count . And so faith is huge for me . How would you define faith ?
Speaker 3I would define faith is believing . I would say like believing in your heart , but I mean I'm always , I'm programmed now that faith is believing , speaking and acting . Faith is the substance of things hoped for , the evidence of things not seen .
Speaker 1Did I say that backwards ? No , you're right , that's Hebrews 11.1 . It's the substance of things hoped for , the evidence of things not seen . So faith is actually substance . It's not just this mysterious thing , Well you might have faith like this mystical thing you know it's substance . Yeah , it's evidence . Um , the amplified Bible says that faith is your title deed . What that means is that , um , like , if I have the title to your car , that means I own it . If I have the title to your house , that means I own it .
Speaker 1So even if the house is in California and I'm in Florida , If I got the title to it , I own it .
Speaker 3So even if your promise of healing and breakthrough is in heaven .
Speaker 1If I got the title , I have ownership of the promise . It's actually the papers that God has signed in heaven . Faith is a title deed to what God says is yes and amen and it's mine Amen .
Speaker 3So if you're believing for healing and somebody says , and you say , well , I believe that I'm healed by the stripes of Jesus , and somebody says but how do you say that ? What's your proof ? I'm looking at you and you look like you're still sick . Well , you say , well , it's my faith , because my faith is the evidence , my faith is the title deed Like it's my faith , I might not say that to them no-transcript .
Speaker 1I have faith even though I haven't seen the breakthrough .
Speaker 3Yes .
Speaker 1As long as you . If you take my faith , you take my destiny . But as long as I got faith , faith is the currency that brings what's in the heavenlies into the natural realm .
Speaker 3And so any other way you would define faith like for yourself personally or anything classical definition , anything else faith is , I think , faith . I hear often you say that faith is the currency of the miraculous . Faith is the currency of heaven , meaning that anything you want from God , it's your faith . That's how you get it . So here , if I want something , I have cash , I go to the store . I pay for it with cash , but anything as it pertains to heaven and heavenly things , or anything we want from our Father , it's faith , right Meaning . I believe that you can do this for me .
Speaker 1So faith comes from this word , pistis . Out of this word , you have saving faith , but you also have , like , a believing faith , and we're not really talking about saving faith today . We're talking more about believing faith , the faith that you need to stand on the word . I would define faith as confidence , so it's literally confidence in the word of God , confidence in the things that God has spoken to you . Okay , it's confidence in OK , it's , it's confidence in , it's just confidence in .
Speaker 2God .
Speaker 1I would call it total dependency on God or assurance . You know it's the substance of things hoped for . The evidence of things not seen , and so it's assurance about what you can't see . Yet as long as you got faith , you have assurance . As long as you have faith , you have a promise . As long as you have faith , you have assurance for things that you do not see that you hope for . It is the evidence that you have right now .
Speaker 1So it's kind of like sitting in these chairs . You didn't have to pray about sitting in a chair because you had confidence to put your weight on it . So when you say I have faith , you're saying I'm willing to put my weight on the word . And so the reason that I tithe and serve and give and forgive and turn the other cheek is because I'm putting my weight on God . Yes , he's going to , if I turn the other cheek , protect me from getting hit again If I do things his way . I'm going to go on a mission field . I'm not going to have fear that I'm going to pass away , because I believe no weapon formed against me shall prosper . So I'm going to put weight on it .
Speaker 1I'm going to put weight on it . So it's confidence , it's total dependency , and I would also call it acting on what you believe .
Speaker 2Yeah .
Speaker 1And I think that's a huge one . Yes , and so there is an acting side of faith where it's like you're sick but act as if you're healed . Yeah , you're in a bad marriage but act as if you're in a good one . Not to where people ask you and you're like you know cause all the time Don't lie .
Speaker 1Don't lie Like how you doing , oh , I'm blessed . I've been never , never , stressed , blessed by the best . Yes , yes , yes , and you know your stuff is tore up and I'm not saying that you , but there are certain people that you got to say I'm blessed , but my challenge is this I'm blessed . But the doctor said this I'm blessed , I'm healed , but I feel this way right now .
Speaker 3Yeah , I think people need to know the right words to say . So , when I was going through cancer , I was careful not to say that I have cancer , or I would say the doctor , I was diagnosed with cancer . So you get what I'm saying . I'm not taking ownership of this because I prayed and asked God to heal me right now , but I was diagnosed with cancer , or right now I'm fighting cancer . So you can find the right words , not asking you to lie but don't take ownership over the negative thing , the thing that you don't want .
Speaker 1Well , let me break down the three components of faith the negative thing , the thing that you don't want .
Speaker 1Well , let me break down the three components of faith Like I've been studying faith for many years and most biblical faith has three major elements Somebody was believing , somebody was speaking and somebody was acting . And that to me , is new Testament Bible faith that you have to believe like in your heart . You have to believe that what God says is so . You have to speak about it like talk about it as if it's so . There's power in your words and I know some people don't like that , but it's biblical and it's very true .
Speaker 1The Bible says that your tongue is like a rudder to the ship it's a little member , but it can catch your soul , it can catch your body on fire and it can cause great destruction or great blessing . The Bible says that your mouth is like the pen of a ready writer . So you actually . We've been made in the image and likeness of God , and God created the world with his words . We can create our world with our words . It doesn't mean that we can go out and say like to this microphone , turn into something else . That's not what we're saying , don't get weird with it .
Speaker 1But your words are spirit and life , and when you release those words you are releasing life or death . You're releasing something spiritual . So you need to get a control of your tongue , because what you say does matter , right ? So let the weak say I'm strong , let the sick say I'm healed , let the poor say that I'm rich . And there's just something about believing , speaking but also acting . And so for the acting part , we say it like this you gotta faith it till you make it , not fake it . You know what I'm saying .
Speaker 1There's too much fake stuff , but I'm talking about you Sometimes you gotta faith it . And I remember when you had cancer , that's what you did you would try to move as if you didn't Like if you were healed , you would believe it , meditate on it , speak it .
Speaker 1Thank you , lord . I'm healed by the stripes of Jesus . After I pray God to give us a word of knowledge . God is healing migraines right now . He's healing cancer right now . I'll say something like well , do something you couldn't do before , because there's something about your acting that releases . I'm going to move my elbow . Oh my God , I feel , oh my God , the pain is gone , like if you keep it like that , you wouldn't have known . There's something about acting , and so the phrase that I like to use is that you got to faith .
Speaker 3It till you make it connecting . And so the phrase that I like to use is that you got to faith it until you make it . I , I get it , yeah , and then you know , because sometimes there's easy things like , okay , I have a headache today . Now , instead of going for the um medicine to kind of pop a couple of pills and get that headache away , making the conscious to sit , no , I'm going to . In jesus name , lord , I pray that this headache go away , um , and so you're praying for healing before you take the medicine , or before you take the Tylenol , the ibuprofen all of that , and there's no problem with taking medicine , because faith that works is dead , but what you're saying is first believe God , because it's all .
Speaker 1What do you want to run to ? If you want to run to the medicine . Well , the medicine is going to be your source . But I want to run to Jesus first and then , if Jesus is like , okay , I didn't see the healing come right away , well , thank you for the medicine that you've put in the earth .
Speaker 3Yeah , but I've done that before when I first I'm like oh really , you can ask for healing , you can ask for just whatever pain to go away and I've had headaches go away . Sometimes it's just like allergy oh gosh , allergies , and I want to go and do stuff .
Speaker 1So , no , no , no , I'm sorry . I was thinking about you know what I was thinking about ? No lie when you said that . I was thinking about all the stuff we've done by faith .
Speaker 3Yeah .
Speaker 1And what popped in my mind is the stuff like remember that time that I locked my keys out of my car and we were . I was at a park and I was by myself and I locked my keys and I went around and I was like in , this is before cell phones , or like I didn't have a cell phone with me or something like that , and all the doors was locked and I lay hands on the car .
Speaker 1I said , in the name of Jesus , lord , help me get in this car . And I , and I heard the trunk open , like like that . And I went back to the back and , sure enough , the trunk was open and I climbed through the back seat , got my keys out of the car , turned it on and left and people say that's coincidence . No , that's what faith and a man can do . I mean , I got so many stories . I remember one time we were out I was preaching in India .
Speaker 2So we're out in the jungle .
Speaker 1I'm talking about like no public bathrooms .
Speaker 1If you wanted to use the bathroom , even in the middle of the conference . Go to the woods . You see women over there squatting , men over here . I mean this was we are in the jungle . Okay , we get out to use the restroom on this dark alley . I get out to use the restroom , I get back in the car and we go about five , 10 minutes down the road . I think I dropped my cell phone and so we're in the darkest alley that you've ever seen . Corn all on one side and another , whatever plants that they have there . And we are the pastor .
Speaker 1He turns around and we're driving at two miles an hour trying to find a black cell phone in the middle of India . And I say , in the name of Jesus , lord , help me find my cell phone . I didn't want to be in India with no cell phone . And lo and behold , we just felt like , oh here , stop , stop , stop . And we get out . There's no markers , y'all . I'm talking about 10 miles of just black nothing . And I reached down in the grass and I pick up my cell phone . I pick up my cell phone after backtracking and that's the cell phone miracle . You know , I've seen the blind and eye open . I've seen God do some amazing thing . There is no greater miracle than a cell phone , but it's what faith in a man can do . I think about the lepers outside of the gates of Samaria and they said if we sit here , we'll die .
Speaker 1But if we go into the famine , the city . There's a famine in the city . We might die . These other people might save us alive and the Bible says that as they went , as they acted , god made their enemies hear noise of chariots and they all just left and left all of their weapons and equipment and everything , and it's just something about moving and acting by faith . That's just a part of faith .
Speaker 3When you move , God moves . Sometimes we're waiting on God , but then sometimes he's waiting on us .
Speaker 1He gives you more on your way than he does before you start . Yeah absolutely . How do you think so , when it comes to faith ? How do you think faith is built ? How does it come or how does it grow ?
Speaker 3I think that faith is like a muscle , and so the more you work it , the more it grows . Now we all have a portion of faith . I don't think you know that maybe I have more faith than someone else . I just use my faith muscle more than someone else .
Speaker 1All right , let's unpack that for a minute . So we all have the same All right . So the scripture says when you get saved , God gives you the measure of faith .
Speaker 3The measure of faith . So this is what .
Speaker 1I believe you can take it or leave it I believe that when you get saved , we all have the measure of faith . So I have faith , you have faith and everybody who's watching you have faith . But just because you have a measure of faith doesn't mean that your measure is developed Right . So all of us , we all have quads , we all have hamstrings . We all have the same amount of muscles , but my campus pastor in Gainesville .
Speaker 1His biceps are more developed than mine . Now I'm trying to catch up with the Bishop of biceps . I'm trying to catch him , but I can't catch him right now .
Speaker 3But he got biceps , I got biceps .
Speaker 1He's just done something with his that I haven't done with mine . We all have faith . It's just that we've done something with ours that other people just won't do , and so I 100% stand with you that faith is like a muscle and you have to build your faith muscle , and so I want to talk about a couple of ways that you can do that .
Speaker 1Number one is that you got to make sure that you hear the right things consistently . So Romans 10 and 17, . It says that faith comes by hearing and hearing the word of God . Okay , now , a lot of people will read that scripture and just minimize it to this is a salvation message that faith for Jesus comes by hearing the message of Christ . But that's not all that this is talking about . This is a principle that faith comes or grows or is built by what you hear , meaning that what you hear is affecting what's in your heart it really does .
Speaker 1It affects what you believe . So if you are always watching the news , you will have faith for murder , mayhem and destruction , because fear comes by hearing , just like faith comes by hearing . They are currencies One brings to you God's best , the other brings to you the devil's worst . And so faith comes by hearing , and hearing the word . Now , the word word is not the word , it's not logos .
Speaker 3So it's not just faith comes by you reading the Bible out loud , reading the scripture , or listening to a sermon Faith comes by the rhema word the Bible out loud , this faith comes by the rhema word , the .
Speaker 1Holy Spirit , illuminated word that pops forth from the Logos word . So when you had cancer and after you got healed from cancer , the Lord said it's settled . What's that ? That's a rhema word that affliction won't arise a second time . Your faith has come that this won't happen to me again , because of the word , the rhema word , when God gave me the word two million . We're going to lead two million people to Jesus in 20 years . That's a rhema word .
Speaker 1And the only way you get a rhema is that you spend more time with the logos . So for me , when I first got involved in church and here's the key I would tell anybody , when you find a new church , the first thing you should do is take about two years and listen to everything that's been preached in that house . Yeah , so you can get the spirit of the house , you can get the DNA of the house and you don't just try to carry others' opinions and stuff into this new season that God has you in . But I'm telling you , my pastor would preach . I would get that . We had cassettes back in the day . Wow , no-transcript . Why it's important to build a memorial ? Because if you remember what he did back , then you can remember what he wants to do now and also do in the future . David said it this way he says I've killed the bear with the hands and I've killed the lion with the hands . Where is this uncircumcised Philistine ? Absolutely . He had history with God before , which gave him faith to beat Goliath .
Speaker 3And if you don't have history with God because you're a new believer , just look at someone else and see their history . You know , Travis Green has a song . This is my jam . I think it's my favorite song on his album . It says if you want to see his track record , take a look at me . We have history , so listen to other people's testimonies and what they've done in your , in what God has done in their lives , and if he's done it for them , praise the Lord . He can do it for you .
Speaker 1I love that , but here's the one I want to park on just for a moment , because , if you want , to grow your faith and build your faith you got to get rid of the faith hindrances .
Speaker 1Okay , and there's some things that are hindering people's faith that I think that if you can kind of get rid of the toxins , you can be more healthy , get rid of the roadblocks , you can be better . There's some stuff that you got to just handle and so I'm going to go over a few of them that I was thinking . These are what I call faith hindrances . Are you ready ? The first one is overthinking .
Speaker 2And I want to hear what you got to say about this one .
Speaker 1This is a reliance on the head over the heart , and the reason that many people struggle today with faith is that faith requires a level of disconnect from the intellect . There is nothing wrong with being intellectual because I'm intellectual , I believe you're intellectual . But for me to be proficient in faith , I do not walk by my intellect , I walk by faith . And faith doesn't make sense . It makes faith F-A-I-T-H not sense . Apostle Fred Price used to say that it doesn't make sense S-E-N-S-E . It makes faith F-A-I-T-H . So if you say , well , that just don't make sense , Faith ain't supposed to make sense because it's not based upon the sense realm .
Speaker 1Right , so we're in the sense realm look sound , touch , smell , the five physical senses . But there's a sixth sense , which is faith , and that operates in the spiritual realm , not in the third dimension . And faith is what brings things out of the spiritual dimension into the natural place , and so you can't overthink things and be proficient in faith .
Speaker 3Right , I mean , I think you know you said that you would consider me an intellectual . I would not , I just feel like you have an intellect . I have an intellect . Yes , I am intelligent . Yes , but I'm not really a thinker like that , like I'm not a philosopher . I don't care , just show me the proof .
Speaker 1Am I an intellect ?
Speaker 3I think you are more of an intellect than I am , um , but yeah , you're more so than me , meaning that you are a thinker , like you do think . You know what I mean .
Speaker 1I don't think you're a philosopher , philosophizer well , that kind of has a little negative connotation , because philosophizers are always for something deep and they don't know much yeah , it's almost like they're deep , and sometimes I appreciate it , though you you know the flat , the earth is flat and all this crazy stuff . And you're like what are you talking about , bro ? Like did you pay your bills ? So I'm not that , I wouldn't consider you that , I'm not that .
Speaker 3But you are a thinker , a deep thinker . You think strategy . Come like , you get in there and think about those things . I'm more of a like let's just shoot first , think later , or was it shoot ?
Speaker 1first aim later .
Speaker 3I'm more of a feeler and I'm kind of like just going to go with what I know . I'm going to go , you know . So I don't know why did you ask me that question ? I forget now . We were talking about overthinking , overthinking , oh yeah , I don't think I'm that much of an overthinker , I think .
Speaker 1I tend to . This is a hindrance to faith . A hindrance to faith . I'm getting you back on track , okay , thank you .
Speaker 3Well , I think that what I was going to say is that I think that the reason why people overthink is because they are not confident in something or unsure , or this is . I've never done this before . Well , faith is unsure , yeah .
Speaker 1You have to be comfortable in something or unsure , or this is . I've never done this before . Well , faith is unsure . Yeah , you have to be comfortable being uncomfortable , right ?
Speaker 3Yeah , it's like a paradox , it's like a you know , and so , yeah , I don't know . I would just say that I don't know .
Speaker 1Okay , Well , we can go on to the next one I got . I got more .
Speaker 3Yeah , that's good , my mind it left my mind , that's okay , that's okay .
Speaker 1That's all . Number two is divided attention .
Speaker 2All right .
Speaker 1So stay locked in with me . See what you see what you hear . On this one , with the information age , people have divided attention . It's like with your kids , you know , I can say , hey , will you clean your room and go away five minutes , and they outside playing . Then I say , hey , will you clean your room Five minutes later ?
Speaker 1they own video games because they have divided attention . So in classroom the only way that you can pass is that you have to have undivided attention , and I think we live in a day and time because there are so many voices that people don't know what voice to listen to , and this is a word of wisdom , especially for younger Christians and younger leaders . You have to know what voice to lean into and what voices to lean out of . There are so many voices today . The scripture says it this way you have 10,000 instructors in Christ .
Speaker 1That means 10,000 podcasters , authors and opinions about the same thing , but you don't have a lot of fathers . You have to identify the people that are spiritual fathers and mothers and allow their voice to be louder than the other voices . So , first off , we start with God's voice , but then we go down to the voice of anointed , faithful leadership that God's placed in our life , and for me , thoroughly , it's everybody else's voice , and so anything jump out to you with that . This is a hindrance to faith , because there's just how can I believe God for this ? Because I got online and somebody said this and they said this and they said this . And I looked this up and it said this and they said this . Well , oh my God , how are you going to walk by ?
Speaker 3faith . Yeah right , I think that you said the divided attention at first and the voices , because there's so many voices that splits your attention . But then there's also the busyness that we have too much going on in our lives and that splits our attention . And so too many activities , too many businesses , too many things going on . Oh my goodness , you're so distracted . You can't hear God when he's talking to you because you're so distracted .
Speaker 1That's interesting Because this is a hindrance of faith . I was just having a conversation with a young man that I'm kind of discipling and mentoring and I was teaching him something out of the Bible and I don't know . He said something like oh , I got to go look that up , or I was looking that up and when I went home after our meeting I thought to myself . I said , man , what a blessing and a curse all at the same time , like what a blessing that we live in a day and time where you can go look up anything Like at any time you can say what does the Bible say about this ?
Speaker 1What does the Bible say about that ? How big is the ? What is the population of LA ? I mean , you can go what a blessing but also what occurs Like I can't imagine , like when we were growing in our faith 20 some years ago . I can't imagine being in a place where I had the opportunity to go , look up everything and get so many voices on something .
Speaker 1You know what I'm saying , like what I had back in the day I had my pastor , I had the word of God and I had the Holy Spirit . That was it , and it kept me so childlike and it kept me so focused , because all of those things are gifts that God . I can't imagine being coming up in a day and time where my pastor can say this but this person said this , and this person said this , and this person and you got to know who in the world . Now we got to teach discernment .
Speaker 3Yeah .
Speaker 1Because a lot of times you got people online preaching about finances , but they're broke . People preaching about marriage , but they're broke . People preaching about marriage , but their marriage sucks . They're talking about their soul and mental health but their mental health is not good . And so you have no way to be able to judge the fruitfulness of what's being said , unless you go back to who's my spiritual leadership ? What does the word say ?
Speaker 3What does the Holy Spirit say ? I see you got something you want to say to say Proximity matters . What does the Holy Spirit say , yeah , and that's why you're- . I see you got something you want to say to that I think proximity matters , your local church matters , you know . That's why you know your local church , your pastors , the people that you serve , with the people that you do life with- .
Speaker 1The place that God's called you to , the designated people who speak into your life .
Speaker 3So now , if you do , I mean it's you know , there are great preachers out there great pastors , you know , we listen to . We have friends , I mean , there's wonderful people out there , um , but it's always good to be in that balance and in that family . One statement , one thing you said a little earlier was that , um , you know you should get the heart of the house . You know , when it comes to um joining a church heart , of the house .
Speaker 1You know , when it comes to joining a church , let's do it . Heart of the house , let's do it .
Speaker 3Heart of the house and listening to what your church believes and what your church is preaching and the spirit that's on that house .
Speaker 1And it's not because your church has a monopoly on revelation . It's not because your church knows everything about the Bible .
Speaker 3Your church has an assignment , a specific mission . Hold on .
Speaker 1It's because God's called you to your church .
Speaker 3Yeah , absolutely 1 .
Speaker 1Corinthians 12 says he's placed the members in the body as it pleases him . So if you have been divinely connected , do we still ? Believe in divine connections Elijah's and Elisha's , Ruth's and Naomi's , Paul's and Timothy's . There is a oil that you should partake of . There is a brook that you should drink from . Okay , let me say it like this there are so many great preachers out here and so many great pastors , but I have to know what's for me and what's not .
Speaker 1I'm just saying , I'm just telling you stuff that I learned 20 years ago Because I remember sitting in church and a brother so-and-so would be like , well , I don't know if the church is prophetic enough and we're having this camp meeting over here and we're going to be prophesied over . Would you come over here ? I'm like brother , I'm good at my church . Why are you inviting me to another church ? I just feel like people in the church world are so used to inviting Christians to church that we have musical chairs Like I'm at this church and I'm at this church and I'm in this church , church . When are we going to go win like lost people ?
Speaker 2like atheist , agnostic , devil worshipers , satanic worshipers , like .
Speaker 1Harry Christian , like go , go , go , win people that don't know Jesus yet , instead of doing the musical chairs . But the thing that I would give is just great advice , and please hear my heart on this . My name is Ken and I'm your friend , um , what I would say is don't have a smorgasbord anointing , meaning that , like I , when I was cutting that , when I was growing in my faith , I had to say that conference is good , but that don't mean I'm supposed to be there . That book is good , but it don't mean I'm supposed to read it . That church is good , but I got a church . I don't really need to go mix my spirit and I know what you're doing is great , but it's just not what God's called me to . You know what I'm saying and it's like every church has its own anointing and its own stream and it's a sad thing to be like a clater , but you down at the Jackson's house , like that's my kids .
Speaker 1My kids are like well , I just like the way the Jackson's they cook food , like we've been serving y'all for 25 years . You're used to my food now , but please don't disrespect my food because my food is good . The reason you're 25 years old is because you've been eating in this house and I don't need a clader over at the Jackson's , not realizing that they're a clader . You look like a clader , you sound like a clader . You've been called to be a cl church . Yeah , this is your church .
Speaker 3This is your house , if you go to another church .
Speaker 1That's your house . You should be loud and proud about it .
Speaker 3I think some people move around so often and they never get rooted , never get rooted . And so , without being rooted , you miss some of the power and the miraculous and the anointing in your life . Yeah , so you kind of have the master . You know how they call it . You can be the master of all trades or the jack of all trades , but the master of none .
Speaker 3Meaning that you know a little bit of this , a little bit of that . You got all of these other anointings going on , but there's one specific anointing , there's one place that you should be planted in . That's where the power , the manifestation , the anointing is activated on your life , Not because that church is more special than another , but because God's called you to one place . And if you're where God's called you to be , well then that's where your flow is . You know you're going to receive from , and it's not saying that it's a forever thing .
Speaker 1I mean , I know that there's different seasons . It's just the immaturity of the consumerism .
Speaker 2But just get where you're supposed to be , and be all in , get plugged in .
Speaker 3We got to do a whole podcast about the heart of the house . Get all of the juice that you can get .
Speaker 1It's coming . People Look for it wherever podcasts are found . Third hindrance is this and we got to move on . Oh man , let this be the last one . Contrary experiences .
Speaker 3Contrary experiences Hindrance to faith If you're going to walk by faith .
Speaker 1You have to know the promises of God , meditate on the promises of God , trust in the promises of God , stand in the promises of God , even in the evil day . After you've done all , still stand . I think we've talked about this before , but I think we're going to say it Every time I preach faith . I'm going to start talking about suffering , the struggle , the fight , trials and tribulation , because I think that there are people who don't understand what it means to walk by biblical faith , because they tried to believe God for something and it failed .
Speaker 1There was a prayer that wasn't answered . I've heard I think it was maybe over in the Todd White camp , and some of my evangelist friends , I think he said that he prayed for maybe 300 people before he saw one person .
Speaker 3Yeah , I heard him say that as well .
Speaker 1And I think sometimes we stop short and then we make a doctrine that God don't heal any longer . And it's not that God doesn't heal any longer . We just stopped after we prayed for two people .
Speaker 1We took a small sample size and then made a whole denomination out of it , my God , and so for me , I don't know about you , I don't care if I got to pray for 400 , 500 , 600 people , but sometimes , when we have contrary experiences , it's a hindrance to our faith . And this is what I'll say . Jump on this . We never bring the word of God down to our experiences . We always bring our experiences up to the word of God . I feel like we live in a day and time where people are bringing God's word down to their experience . Well , I prayed , but I didn't get that . I declared it , but that didn't happen . I prophesied it , but it didn't come to pass . And you're bringing your experience down , the word of God down to you , that's dangerous .
Speaker 1You got to bring your experience up to the word , like that's what he said , and I don't understand the results that I got , but I'm going to keep on believing and keep on trusting and at the end of the day , god , my palms are up and I still trust you .
Speaker 3Absolutely . You have to trust in God .
Speaker 1Because if you ever had contrary I know you had some contrary experience .
Speaker 3Oh yeah , contrary experiences . You know , I don't know where , to start with it .
Speaker 3I think I will say this is that you have to trust in God . The Bible says that we overcome by the blood of the Lamb and the power of our testimony , and so our testimony is powerful . So at times when I believed God for something and it didn't come to pass , or I believe God for healing and the opposite came to pass , I had to look at either my previous testimonies and what God had done for me , or look to the Bible for testimonies of what God did for other people already that are written in Scripture . Or I would go to modern day friends , family testimonies , whoever I could get . I would look at their testimony and by the power of their testimony , with the blood of Jesus , that helped me to overcome .
Speaker 3And so I think our testimonies . We can talk scripture and debate and do things all day long and look up things and get real deep and do all of this stuff , but at the end of the day you can't argue with my testimony . At the end of the day , I am healed and you can't tell me that God didn't do it . It's the testimony that I think is power , and I think that we don't have enough of our testimony . I've been encouraging everyone in our church , our leaders in our church . I've been encouraging other . When I travel to other churches , I've been encouraging leaders to share their testimony Every time they hit the microphone . Don't ever get tired of it , there is power in it .
Speaker 3Yes , I will talk about how God delivered me from the spirit of depression for the rest of my life , because every time I say it , somebody else gets healed . I'll talk about how I got delivered from fear . I'll talk about how I overcame sexual abuse , physical abuse , verbal abuse , alcoholism , domestic violence , poverty . I will talk about it for the rest of my life .
Speaker 1Every time you do somebody gets delivered .
Speaker 3Because every time I do , somebody gets delivered , and so I think I would say that if you're going through something currently , maybe you've been let down before and you don't have faith , or you don't know that God can do it for you again , or you just don't know . Maybe you're confused . I would say look at my testimony , look at other people's testimony and believe that you can't argue with what God has done .
Speaker 1Listen , this is a big one and I think I felt a couple of podcasts about to come out from what you just said . All right , I think we should do a whole podcast where we just share our testimony and release the spirit .
Speaker 3I love that ?
Speaker 1Because what you just said is that if the testimony of Jesus releases the spirit of prophecy , the word testimony um doesn't it ? The original meaning of it somewhere means do it again . So , basically , when I say that we've been healed from depression , it's for God to do it again . We're prophesying he about to do it again . When I say that we've been healed from depression , it's for God to do it again . We're prophesying he about to do it again . When I say that we had $100,000 in debt and then God blessed us financially , it's for him to do it again . So you can't hide your testimony , no matter . So that's so good . Contrary experiences are funny , because it's just like I wonder what Joseph was thinking when he was in the pit Right and in the prison .
Speaker 3God said this , but now he's in the prison and I feel like we preach about the palace .
Speaker 1Let me just talk about me . I feel like I talk about the palace because I should , because there's so many people that don't understand that the palace is your destiny . The palace is where God's trying to get you . But if I ever over-focus on the palace , just understand from this day forward that I understand there's a process to get to the palace . Yeah , and Joseph came through the prison and he came through the pit on his way to the palace . If I ever talk about how you being delivered from the fire and came out not smelling like smoke and that's my focus I'm just trying to build your faith . I'm trying to get you to stand on the promise of God . But I understand , before you came out smelling , you were thrown in the furnace .
Speaker 3You were in the fire , you were in the furnace and you realized that there was another in the fire . Yeah .
Speaker 1And so I understand that every promise has a process and I think that there's a lot of believers and listen , don't get mad at the preachers . We're doing our best we really are because we're inundated with so many different things and we're like , oh my God , I just want people to know they can be healed and they can prosper and they can have God's best . And sometimes , if our tone is too much there , we don't prepare people for the warfare and the process and the patience and the fruit of the spirit . It's not because those things don't exist . It's just because we're doing our best in our humanity to figure out what people need as we reach people from different backgrounds and different experiences . But make no mistake about it Every promise has a process .
Speaker 1And in the process . His grace is sufficient . You learn more about who you are in the process . You learn more about God in the process . What did Bill Johnson from Bethel say at one time ? He says the earth is the only place that , when you're going through something that's bad , that you can still give God praise for it .
Speaker 2You won't be able to do that when we get to heaven , when we get to heaven , there will be no more sorrow no more tears .
Speaker 1He's wiped every tear from the eye . So the only season that we get to go through something but still give God praises in the earth , and I don't know about you . We thing but still give God praises in the earth , and I don't know about you . We are not going to be absent of obstacles , trials and tribulation and suffering , but when I go through that I'm not focused on that . I think some people preach too much about suffering to be honest with you .
Speaker 1They just preach too much about it . Then they get mad at us because other people ain't preaching as much about it . Because to me that's going to happen . We're in a fallen , broken , sinful world , world you are going to be attacked , there's going to be an evil day , there's going to be problems , and so I'm not going to focus on that , because that's already the thing . It's just harder to believe in a fallen world , the promises of god . So we try to saturate the atmosphere .
Speaker 1What god has said , but still train the troops for what they got to do to get to where god has said , and we won't give up amen you .
Speaker 3Some people are . There's different parts of the body . Some people are equipped . Some people they talk about faith , faith , faith .
Speaker 1That's what you've been called to do .
Speaker 3That's what you do you talk about faith ? Some people talk about grace , grace , grace , grace , grace . That's what you do . You talk about grace , healing , healing , prophecy .
Speaker 1I mean do what you do , yeah , I'm glad you said that , because too many times we get upset because people ain't doing what we want them to do .
Speaker 3Don't do what God's called you to do . That's what you've been called to do . He called you to do it . You do that . Let him do that , let her do that . You do what you're supposed to do .
Speaker 1Putting their passion on you . I remember back in the day before we developed the missions department that we have People come in what are we doing overseas and what are we doing overseas and what are we doing over missions ? I'm like , I am a mission .
Speaker 2I just moved from .
Speaker 1Washington DC . I moved my family three to Gainesville , florida . I knew one person .
Speaker 3We've been in church for like six months .
Speaker 1We are a mission Like no , we don't have a food pantry . I'm trying to feed myself right now , Like what are you talking ?
