Introduction to Pivots and Rebounds

Speaker 1

Hey , what's up ? Podcast family Ken and Tabitha here . So glad to have you guys joining us for another episode . We're pumped about today . We feel like we got a really good one for you today and our hope is that , if it brings some value to your life , you can share this with other people that really need to get hold of some of the principles , because today we want to talk about pivots and rebounds , how to handle adversity and comebacks .

Speaker 2

And I feel like we know a little bit about adversity .

Speaker 1

We know a little bit about comebacks . We don't know everything , but we're going to share some things to really help people who've been through a storm or who will ever go through a storm .

Speaker 2

And when .

Speaker 1

I say storm . It's a spiritual way of saying just you're going through a hard time , you've been through a battle . There's been some stuff that's tried to kill you . Stop you , hurt you , harm you right and now what do you do ? And I really feel like this is going to motivate some people to get back on the horse today , and so I'm sure you're ready for this one .

Speaker 2

Absolutely yeah . What's your ?

Speaker 1

what's your original thoughts or your initial thoughts About pivots and rebounds ? Anything ?

Speaker 2

come to mind . I mean , I just think this is life .

Speaker 1

This is .

Speaker 2

this is , you know , um , the adversity that we face in life , the challenges that we face in life . Everybody has to pivot at one point . At one point everybody gets knocked down and you have to get back up again . At one point , everybody has a bully that you got to face , a giant that you have to kill , a mountain that you have to speak to . We all have to do this and I think , when it comes to succeeding in life or not succeeding , winning or failing , it is about whether you have the grit , the faith , the boldness , the courage to face these battles . If you fall down , can you get back up again ?

Speaker 1

Well , we originally got the idea for this podcast because somebody asked a question . They said we originally got the idea for this podcast because somebody asked a question . They said how long is too long to work on a dream and how long is too long to pursue a vision ? And it really got me to think about it because that's a crazy question , like how long is too long ?

Speaker 2

Yeah .

Speaker 1

Right Now . My initial response was this when we started our church 18 years ago , our pastor that sent us out . He said that there was a principle in the Bible where a guy was attending a field or doing some gardening for three years and he saw no fruit . And he said , man , I don't have fruit after three years . He says , well , can I have another year ? And he says , well , after the fourth year , if you don't see anything , we want you to just stop what ?

Speaker 1

you're doing after the fourth year . If you don't see anything , we want you to just stop what you're doing . And so , when we started our church , my pastor said listen , y'all can go start a church , you have 100% blessing , but I give you three to four years . And if you don't see fruit within three to four years , I want you to come back home .

Speaker 1

I want you to come back home . And I had no clue that that was in the Bible . It's actually over in Luke . I don't know exactly where it is in Luke , I thought I wrote it down . Luke , chapter 13 , verse 8 through 9 . And the story is this so there's a guy who has a fig tree and the fig tree doesn't have any fruit . And so , yeah , he comes after three years no fruit on the fig tree . He goes to his master . He's like , okay , listen , what do you want me to do ? He says work in another year , See if it produces fruit for another year and if not , chop it down , something like that . And so I'm not saying that that's a law .

Speaker 1

Like you work on a dream for three years , because sometimes you got a 30-year vision and it's going to take this is what I know . The bigger the dream , the longer the process . The bigger the dream , the more battles you're going to have to face to accomplish it . The bigger the vision , the bigger the dream . And many times God will show you the end , but he doesn't show you the process . So this is like so common how long do I work on the dream ? How long do I work on a vision and we want to talk about pivoting a little bit today .

Speaker 1

Because pivoting and also rebounding is so important ? Because there are people that they've been working , and we know them . They've been working on a business that hasn't produced fruit for 15 years , but they just keep going and keep going and keep going and there does come a place where you need to either pivot or you need to go do something different . There are some people that's been working on a vision . You've been in ministry . You got 30 people for 30 years and God gave you a000 people vision and you're going to have to make up your mind . Does that mean that I can't continue to do what I've been doing decade after decade , or find somebody else that has 3,000 people and partner up with that vision ? That's what I mean by pivoting .

Speaker 2

That's so good . I think I don't know . I didn't know what you were going to say after you said that , because I'm like , yeah , well , how do you know how ? Say after you said that , because I'm like , yeah , well , how do you know , how do you know when it's time . I was thinking there's different seasons , there's times where I had goals and things that I feel like , well , let me sit that on the shelf for right now , because I have three young children .

Speaker 2

This isn't like I don't even want to do this right now . I'm going to put this dream aside . Maybe it was a dream to write a book or start a business . I can't do that right now . I'm putting to lose weight . I'm trying to lose weight and I've been doing it for six months now and I have not lost weight . Maybe it's time for me to , you know , change , try something else . I'm not going to quit my whole you know , quit my whole goal of losing weight and becoming healthier , because I need . That has to be the goal . You know we have to get there . But now I'm going to pivot my strategy , Like , obviously this isn't producing fruit for me , so I got to go about obtaining my goal in a different way .

Speaker 1

I love it . I love it . That's what I want to talk about today . And there's people you guys got to get this , you got to get hold of this and you say how will I know how to pivot ? I think that what you're looking for is fruitfulness . Has what you've been working on produced any fruit for you ? Okay ? Now the answer to that , depending upon what you're working on , can be different . Now , when it says well , I've been working on my marriage for 10 years . It hasn't produced any fruit for me . Well , that's different . You said you're going

When to Pivot: Fruitfulness Test

Speaker 1

to do this till death , do you part ? So you're going to have to believe God , we're going to give you some tools and you're going to have to resurrect the dead marriage back to life again .

Speaker 2

Speak to the dry bones . It's going to be a lifetime thing that you don't have to work on that one .

Speaker 1

You can pivot , you can do different things , but the pivot ain't like go get somebody else , that's a cop out . But for other things like are other things ? Like you're running a business , you're into ministry , you're investing , Whatever you're building , you have to say has it been fruitful ?

Speaker 1

And then you got to really be discerning and follow the Holy Spirit as it relates to times of pivot , because there are times when things are really good , but you should pivot anyway . Sometimes God would have you pivot because the market's good but it's about to get bad and have you pivot at the top of the market , or he has something else that he's calling you to do , and so is there any other examples that come to your mind of times that you've had to pivot ?

Speaker 2

Absolutely , I've had to pivot . I remember being diagnosed with cancer . We had goals at that time . We had ministry . We had just moved from Gainesville , florida , to Orlando , florida , to plant a second campus , and so we were kind of like missionaries . We had just moved from Gainesville , florida to Orlando , florida , to plant a second campus , and so we were kind of like missionaries . We were church planters out there in a new city doing great things for Jesus , and then I get hit with a cancer diagnosis .

Speaker 2

I had to pivot , like , okay , the whole family had to pivot , you had to pivot . Okay , we can't run at the pace that we thought we were going to . I have to slow down for a moment , I have to heal and then I can get back on pace . And then what I found out is that after I beat cancer thank you Jesus and was declared cancer-free that was a year's fight with surgeries and chemotherapy and all that stuff Then I found I just wanted to come out the blocks running , a hundred yard dash , you know . But I found even at then okay , wait , I'm going to have to pivot again because my plan was to come out running . But okay , I need to slow my pace , I have to slowly build back up , because I slowly was broken down . I had to build myself back up . So there are . You know , that was a process where there was a lot of pivoting .

Speaker 1

Can you talk to me a little bit more about that ? Unpack that for me . What does that mean ? That you had to build yourself back up . What did you have to do ?

Speaker 2

I had to physically , emotionally and even spiritually build myself up for life again , and so I had been through a traumatic experience . It challenged my faith . It challenged my , you know , physical strength of you know what I don't feel like getting out of the bed today , but I'm going to get up , I'm going to care for my children , I'm going to be a wife to my husband . These were all just like mental , emotional and again , spiritual kind of just challenges that I had to face and overcome .

Speaker 1

Let me see if I can kind of draw a clear picture . So you've been pretty much an athlete all your life . Yes , you've always worked out . You've always ran something like that . So after the cancer surgery , chemotherapy and all of that coming back from that , you've always ran something like that . So after the cancer surgery , chemotherapy and all of that . Coming back from that , you would probably think I'm gonna go right back to working out .

Speaker 2

And that's what I thought .

Speaker 1

Yeah , and it really took you probably a couple years of like trying to get back in . Here we are , you're celebrating four years of being cancer free and I'm just now seeing you really get back into your stride of working out and those kinds of things . And so it wasn't just like overnight pivoting , it was like pivot , pivot , pivot , pivot it's hard but pivot , hard but pivot . I got to do something different Pivot , um and now , because you had hysterectomy and you had an estrogen related breast cancer you're not able , like most women who have a hysterectomy can get .

Speaker 2

Take the estrogen , take estrogen , yeah , so now your hormonal balance is off and losing weight wasn't easy , as you thought it was going to be because the things that were pre-cancer didn't necessarily work post-cancer Right .

Speaker 1

So you had to pivot , pivot , pivot . And that's what I'm thinking because I'm just watching you , that's what I'm thinking because I'm just watching you and I'm like man . There's tons of pivoting and I think there's a lot of people that just like well , I hit a roadblock and so well that's the thing .

Speaker 2

Yeah , and I'm not saying it's hard , ok , but you have to keep on going . You have to , like , keep on pivoting . You have to keep OK , that one didn't work . Ok , let me try another way . Okay , that one didn't work , let me try another way . This one worked a little bit , let me tweak it some . You cannot quit . You have to keep on moving towards your goal , right right .

Speaker 1

So I think my prayer for those of you all who are watching is that , first , god would just make you aware if there are areas of your life where you need to pivot . It could be in your fitness , it could be in the way that you steward your mind and your emotions .

Speaker 1

It could be in your marriage and your relationship . It could be in some of the ways that you parent . Just look at your life and say , on a scale of one to 10 , how fruitful is this area ? And then there are some areas where you need to pivot , which basically means make a small adjustment . Make a small adjustment , see if there's a better way to do it .

Speaker 1

And then there are certain times you just got to push through too , you know , there are certain things that it's not about a pivot , it's about a push . You know , and I think that's a whole . You know , are there times in your life where you feel like , hey , this is , this isn't a pivot .

Speaker 2

This is a push , absolutely . I felt like that this morning . I felt like that this morning . We had a long day yesterday , we had a late night last night and I have a routine , you know , I go to bed at a certain time and I do things and I didn't hit my routine and so I went to bed last night tired , and this morning this never happens . Like really , I wake up typically five minutes before my alarm goes off . I really don't even need an alarm .

Speaker 2

This morning I woke up to you saying tab , tab , get up . And my alarm was going off and I was like I'm sorry , babe , I didn't hear my alarm . Like I was so tired this morning , I turned off my alarm and I just sat there , like you know what , I'm not going to work out today , I just need to go back to sleep . I'm so tired . But then , a couple seconds later you got up out of bed and you were moving around , but you actually motivated me and I was just like you know what ? He did the same thing I did yesterday . If he's going to get up and exercise , I'm getting up too and so that I got up later , like you know , 15 minutes off schedule . But I got up and I pushed through and I made it here today .

Speaker 1

Yeah , that's so important , so important , so I mean great for me if I think about times that I've had to pivot . I so , when we were living outside of Washington DC , we have a real estate brokerage . I'm in real estate and the Lord says I've called you to pastor . I said where ?

Speaker 1

And he says Gainesville , and I had to Google it to figure out where it was . And so we went through a year and a half process of kind of selling our business and walking away from our investments and family and friends

Pivoting Through Cancer and Recovery

Speaker 1

to come to a city we didn't know in person . But to go from business to ministry . That was a huge pivot . So all of my life I thought I would be in business , just like on multiple businesses , and so even when I went into college I went right into business management . When I was in college I worked as a marketing person . I had my own little side hustles , I was buying cars from auto auctions and flipping them for profit . I mean , I was doing all kinds of things you did so much in college .

Speaker 1

You did the most , and then , coming out of college , I went right into real estate sales and began to build a real estate business and , of course , began to flip homes and buy those , and so I had this whole vision of Clay to Realty , that I was going to have this brokerage and I was going to build some shopping centers , apartment buildings . Even in college , I'm reading books on how to develop apartment complexes .

Speaker 2

Remember all those .

Speaker 1

I'm reading construction books and then the Lord says I've called you to pastor .

Speaker 1

And I said where he says Gainesville , and I had to pivot .

Speaker 1

And this was what we call a hard pivot , because I was going this way for 20 some years and then all of a sudden God asked me to come this way , and so that's probably a huge pivot .

Speaker 1

And then , of course , there came a time in our ministry , about six or seven years into it , where we had started off with one name of our church and I felt the Lord saying I want you to change the name of the church . And it really wasn't about the name , it was just about he was asking us to do ministry a different way . That went along with our oil and our calling and our anointing to reach people of different ethnicities , to reach more unchurched people , et cetera , et cetera . And so we went through a name change and kind of a culture change and what I thought was going to take like a year , it actually took seven years of pivoting of people leaving people coming , people leaving people coming , replacing leaders . That's wrong culture . This is right culture . We don't do that no more . We do it like this . We don't want to do that and all of it was because of a God vision to reach more people .

Speaker 1

But , unfortunately , sometimes your pivot can offend folks and you got to be bold enough to pivot when God tells you to pivot , because you see what your pivoting could produce in the future to not let people hold you back in the present and that was actually even harder than moving from Washington DC to Gainesville , Florida , and leaving our business and our home was making that pivot Because I felt like I was letting people down , whether it was my pastor , my mentors , my friends , the people who had followed us for six , seven years .

Speaker 1

I felt like they couldn't see what I saw but , I know what I saw came from God , and so that was a year of pivot after pivot after pivot after pivot after pivot throughout our church . Jump in anytime .

Speaker 2

Yeah , you're saying good stuff .

Speaker 1

Yeah , and then it was , and then , after we did all of that , it would seem like , oh my God , because we got the culture , life-giving , spirit-filled , diverse , preaching on church , people caring about the poor , missions around the world . We got it all to where we want to get . And then the Lord says this well , it's time to expand . And I'm thinking I'm going to live in Gainesville , florida , for the rest of my life and I might send a pastor out to Jacksonville or in different places . I never wanted to be in Orlando . I knew a lot of friends in Orlando , it just wasn't something that I ever even thought of .

Speaker 1

And I remember praying and saying , okay , god , what do you want us to do ? And I felt like God was asking us to plant ourselves A lot of pastors they will send other people , and that's fine . But I felt God was asking us to pivot and , instead of leave this city and you go , start something new . And we began to pray over Tampa . And we began to pray over which we have a campus at now , and we began to pray over Jacksonville . I came to Orlando and I remember I was in a Starbucks and there was a lady who was a real estate agent and she was going back and forth working a real estate deal . That's my language and she was speaking English back to Spanish . English back to Spanish . And the Lord said there's an anointing on your life for this region of people and this is going to be a place from here you'll be able to kind of impact the world and the nation .

Speaker 2

I love how God uses things like that to speak to you . He knows how to speak your language .

Speaker 1

He knows how to speak your language , and so that was a huge pivot again . So you're talking about it's almost like we have been there for 12 years in Gainesville family , friends . Kids are in school . Now the Lord's asking us to do it all over again , like all over again .

Speaker 1

So we go back to having meetings at coffee shops , having worship practice in our living room bringing people over to house and to see how our church in Orlando , and now we have multiple campuses , of course , but all of that fruit came on our ability to pivot . If we did not pivot , we would still have been stuck in Washington DC in real estate when God's called me to ministry , or we would have been stuck in Gainesville when God called us to nations .

Ministry Transitions and Business Pivots

Speaker 1

And so my question for those of you all who are watching is what is your lack of pivoting now , stopping the harvest that God wants to bring into your life in the future ?

Speaker 2

That's so good , and I hear this as well . Sometimes I think people don't pivot because they are comfortable . You feel like , oh , I've reached my goal and this is it for me . But God has something more , or maybe something better , or just God has something . And I found in our lives and looking at the lives of everyone else , even reading the word , that God is always doing something new . He's always taking us to new levels . He always wants to . He's our heavenly father , he wants to bless us . He just wants to do good things for us . And I think sometimes if we become complacent , we become comfortable or we think that we've arrived , then we won't even hear the voice of God or be open to the voice of God when he's calling us to pivot , to make a change , to transition .

Speaker 1

Sometimes the roadblock is not a curse , it's a blessing . Sometimes the red tape is not a curse . It's a blessing , because sometimes when you get stuck and you realize that I'm stuck , then it will make you go to God and say what do I need to change ? Because success sometimes can feel really good , but success sometimes can be a real enemy to your blind spots . It's almost like your church is rocking and rolling , your business is killing it , but you don't see what's going on underground . You don't see because your success is blinding you to the changes that you need to make .

Speaker 1

So I've kind of I have a culture of pivoting , Like if there's something that's good , I'll break it and make it better , and then if it's better , I'll break it and make it great , and I think that so the people who work around me they have to have like a great grace for things changing and then changing again , and changing again , because it's the law of diminishing return , like if you get to a certain level , stuff is going to begin to fade unless you continue to intentionally make it get better , and so , for me , it's about pivoting , pivoting again , pivoting again , pivoting again , not to create chaos , but just to say I haven't arrived .

Speaker 1

Is there a better way to do what we're doing ? And so I don't know , I just feel like speaking to the pastors out there . A better way to do what we're doing ? And so I don't know , I just feel like speaking to the pastors out there . There's one thing that I heard after I launched the church . When we first started our church , it was like I'm just going to obey God and go wherever he tells us to go , which is a great principle .

Speaker 1

So we came to Gainesville , florida , and it was a city we didn't know anyone in and it didn't matter about the climate , the weather , the population , the ethnicity . We didn't care any about the demographics . We just heard a word from God . He said Gainesville . We said yes .

Speaker 1

Years later , I heard a mentor of mine say that many times when God calls you to something , he will also call you to something that you desire and that you love . And so I'm a pretty city guy . You know what I'm saying . I grew up in West Virginia , which is a small town . All of my life I desired to live in a city , and so sometimes it's okay to say God's given me this desire , like I'm uniquely wired this way , and sometimes that's actually the affirmation of God and the direction of God that it's time to pivot . So for me , yeah , I can be on the mission field and I can be maybe in a place that's not according to my natural bending and gifting , but then , at the same time , if I feel like man .

Speaker 1

I had a vision for 10,000 , I had a vision for multiple campuses . I had a vision and I've been working this field year after year after year three years , four years , five years , six years . We were there 12 years and to me the pivot is like okay , now check this out , meaning that if I saw the vision all come to pass , my eyes might not have been open to God . Are you saying something different ? I might not , would have heard . It's time to expand , if I felt like everything was happening . What I'm saying is that the roadblock might not be a curse , the red tape might not be a curse . It actually might be the hand of God getting your attention after years of plowing a field is there a pivot ?

Speaker 2

Sometimes maybe not .

Speaker 1

Sometimes maybe it is , and so for pastors , my word of encouragement would be and I have pastors ask me this all the time you planted yourself out , you started in the city and asked me questions , like it's okay to just ask God that question , because what I've learned about the kingdom , because even our Gainesville campus is more healthy than it's ever been , it's making more impact than it ever has , but not only Gainesville , as our mother campus has now given birth to two campuses in Orlando , one in Tampa , and we're working on other campuses right now . Yeah , and so if I didn't pivot or hear from God , I could have like limited it the mother campus here and be there 60 years . But I'm just saying that being open for pivots is important too along the journey .

Speaker 2

Yeah , and I found too , just being a pastor , being a leader , being in ministry , god's plan is so much greater than we could ever even realize and imagine .

Speaker 2

So there's one small part that we have to play , even as pastors of a local church , and sometimes , being a pastor , we can just be so kind of blinded or almost be in a bubble to look at just our local church and our community . And this is what God's called us to do . And I mean all of that's amazing , but we have to . I mean all of that's amazing , but we have to every once in a while just look up and look at life and mankind from the bird's eye view and see that like wow , there's not just my church , there's this church and that church and that church , and there's this country and that country , and there's this orphanage and that orphanage . And God is using us . We're just one piece of the puzzle , but he wants to use us to go all around the world so the gospel can be preached all around the world .

Speaker 2

And I think , when you realize that for me , I'm like okay , god , I know that I'm pastoring a local church here , but let me know if you need me to pivot . I know there's a whole bunch of stuff you know what I mean that needs to be done in the earth . I'm here for you . So sometimes , like , make yourself available to God , like I don't want to be stuck in this one thing . You know now , if that's what you want me to do , I'll do it , I'm fine .

Speaker 1

But if you have something else for me , or if you have need , if you have something else for me or , if you have need , anoint me , god , I'll go , mm-hmm , so good . I want to talk about rebounding too , and rebounding is so important because what happens when you had a big dream and it failed ? And you had your vision board , your declarations , prophetic words , you stepped out on something by faith , but it failed . The relationship failed , the church failed , the relationship failed , the church failed , the business failed . You had something going on and it did not work out . You felt like you got into it because you felt like you had a word , you were prayerful through it , you did everything that you know to do and you still got wrong . What do you do ? How do you rebound from that ? Because

Rebounding From Failure

Speaker 1

you got pivots , but then you got rebounds . You got people that feel like and I'm done Right . What's your perspective to those ?

Speaker 2

Ooh , my perspective is I don't know . We serve a God of second chances . I feel like you know , when one door closes , another one opens . I feel like it's never too late to you know , do certain things and accomplish dreams . You know goals and things like that , and like you know , okay , well , if it didn't happen this time , maybe it'll happen another time . Or if this plan is off the table , bless God , I'm going to go find something else to believe in and fight for , and I just think that there's always something , there's always answers out there . God always wants the best for us . I also believe that , as a believer , we can't lose . So , even if it looks like we've lost , I don't really believe that it's a loss .

Speaker 1

for 15 years and it wasn't working out very well but ended up walking away from it , but in the process of walking away from it , found something that's working very well now and it's made multiple millions of dollars just because they rebounded , meaning that they shut the doors to their business and what they thought was a failure was actually a push forward . You know , pastor Dino was here a while ago and he made this statement , and it was that your past is a chapter .

Speaker 1

It's not your whole story , and I think sometimes when you fail , you feel like that's your story that I'm a failure , that I messed that up , that didn't work out , and what you have to realize is that that was just a chapter and all you have to do is write another chapter because that wasn't your whole story . There's been times that we felt like we failed . I felt like there's times , literally . I remember when we were changing culture in our church and it took seven years . I felt like that was a failure . That's how I felt . But now , looking back , it was just a chapter and there was another chapter that was to come and actually that's the chapter that helps so many people today .

Speaker 1

You know , I was listening to one guy who's a very , very well-known podcaster and he said my greatest failures that I've had in my life has produced me the most money in my life . The things that have happened to me there was the worst things when I went through them and it was the biggest failures are the things that became the best books and the best podcast and the best motivational speeches . He says my failures made me multiple millions and I had no clue when I was going through it , and a lot of people think that it's their successes that create the advantage . It's you overcoming cancer .

Speaker 1

It's you overcoming depression . It's us turning our marriage from a marriage headed for divorce to now best friends for 26 years . That's the things . It was the failures that we overcame and we rebounded from that actually gave us the anointing to be able to move forward . It's the years . So when people say you've been in ministry 18 years come here , let me tell you about the decade of pain , the years .

Speaker 1

So when people say you've been in ministry 18 years , come on , let me tell you about the decade of pain . And so if I've got a decade of pain , you can put up with it for a year or two . You're going to be okay . There's a better date that's coming . It's actually the failures that helped other people overcome the things that they're going through and it's just an amazing concept . It's not over , it's just a chapter .

Speaker 2

It's just a chapter .

Speaker 1

The marriage fell apart . It was just a chapter . Right , god has somebody else . If that's his plan and your plan , you lost somebody . You lost a loved one . It was a chapter . There's another chapter that's to come . Don't allow your entire life story to be based upon a chapter . When it was a chapter , it wasn't the book .

Speaker 2

It's so true we share all the time in ministry that your testimony prophesies to someone else who's going through that situation right now that they can come out just like you did , and it just gives people hope , it builds our faith that , wow , okay , it was that hard for you in ministry , it was that hard for you in business , but I see you today and you're still successful and you overcame . All right , I can do this . Okay , I got this so powerful .

Speaker 1

One of the greatest things that I like about you you have personality traits and you are a fighter and an overcomer . I think if I had to come up with one word for you , it would be overcomer . You're the kind of person y'all remember Scooby-Doo and Scooby-Doo the dog .

Speaker 2

Scooby-Doo , Scrappy-Doo .

Speaker 1

Where are you ? Well , scooby had a friend and it might've been a cousin . His name was Scrappy . It was his nephew and Scrappy Scrappy was his name , scrappy . He was a scrappy little dog , but Scooby was big but Scrappy was little and Scrappy would be like let me out of Scooby , let me out of Scooby , come on , let me out of Scooby .

Overcoming Victim Mentality

Speaker 2

That's my wife . She's Scrappy family .

Speaker 1

I'm going to break every curse and have a stronghold and I'm going to be everything that God's called me to be . I'm going to build this business and we're down right now , but we're going to be up next year . My stock portfolio is down right now but God's going to turn it around . If God be for me , then God is not done .

Speaker 2

You've got to have a little scrappy . Come on .

Speaker 1

If you're going to have any level of success . The people that I see that are going around and they're depressed , and woe is me with a victim mentality . The thing that they're lacking the most is just this ability that I'm going to overcome it . If it's in my life , I can take it . Your greatest enemy is a victim mentality .

Speaker 1

It's not the devil , it's your victim mentality . Woe is me . Well , you don't understand because my mom wasn't there for me and my dad ? I didn't even know who he was and you don't understand . I got fired from that job and they just don't like me and they think bad about me . And I didn't start with anything .

Speaker 1

Listen , a bunch of people ain't start with nothing and there's a lot of people that's been through a lot more than what you have . I look at people like Joyce Myers who says that she was raped I know that I'm turning but her father , her biological father for years , she says in her pockets over a hundred times by her own dad , but now has one of the most powerful ministries to the world where she helps women . So what I'm saying is not to minimize your pain , it's to maximize your God . Many people they look at their past and that's what I love about you . You've been through sexual abuse , verbal abuse , physical abuse . Sometimes your own family hasn't supported you and loved you like they should . You've been abandoned and rejected . But you haven't developed a victim mentality . You've developed a victorious mentality saying that I am who God's called me to be and I can do all things through Christ , who strengthens you .

Speaker 1

And I believe the reason that you have victory over sickness and depression and victory in your relationship and all of these different things is because it was in your mind , that was your thinking , and as a man thinketh in his heart , so is he . And I'm just telling you that there is a spirit of overcoming that every person can tap into .

Speaker 2

Yeah , yeah , you're right and you know , just in that overcoming , I think the strength that I have , the reason why I have this whatever in me to fight , is because , you know , as a born again believer , it's like the greater is he who is in me than he who is in the world . And I just kind of have this thing like the focus isn't on me , the focus is on God , and it's like I know that God has done so much for me already , like beyond the shadow of a doubt , nothing , there's nothing that God can't do , and so I'm just confident , like whatever comes my way , it's not me , but it's God in me and we're going to overcome .

Speaker 1

And you can almost develop yourself to the place where you're almost like bring it on , yeah .

Speaker 2

Not completely . I don't want to go through a cancer battle again and certain things again . Yeah , you're not going out there looking for the devil , but at the same time , you're not scared no more , right .

Speaker 1

You're kind of like you've been through enough in your life and with God to know that every setback is actually a setup . It goes from like cliches every mess has a message and every test it goes from cliche to divine revelation . Like devil , if you come at me , I'm gonna come at you so hard , I'm gonna come at you so hard . So come if you want to , because I'm gonna come at you so hard . I just think that sometimes Christians can be punks , and I don't think we need to be punks . I think we need to have a spiritual backbone , prophesy the word of the Lord , have a victorious mindset .

Speaker 1

I learned a lot from athletes . Even people that are not saved . Sometimes they have this mentality , they have this will to win . But if you got a will to win and you also got the power of the Holy Ghost Right , come on man . That's an unstoppable force . It doesn't mean you won't have pain , right . It doesn't mean you won't have suffering and it doesn't mean you have failure . It just means there's a bounce back in your spirit , and I just want to prophesy a bounce back in somebody's spirit who's watching this today . Maybe you've been through a loss , a divorce , a bankruptcy . Maybe you've had a failure , or maybe you've been stuck and you've been working on a dream or a vision for five years , 10 years

Final Encouragement and Closing

Speaker 1

, 20 years and you feel like you don't have any fruit . I want you to know that you are more than a conqueror through .

Speaker 1

Christ , who loves you . I want you to know that you can do all things through Christ , who strengthens you . I want you to know there's more working for you than working against you . It's time to rebound . It's time to do again . It's time to do again . It's time to dream again . It's time to declare . It's time to believe again . It's time to believe that your best days are still out in front of you . And so we pray , in the name of Jesus , that every mindset that has been holding you back be broken off of your life in Jesus name , and that God would give you the spirit of victory , but also an anointing of boldness , to be able to stand up against every doctor's report , because there is a doctor that's greater than the doctors that's giving you that diagnosis , and his name is Jesus . So we call you healed , we call you blessed , we call you on top and never beneath , and we thank God for the rebound and the pivoting that's on the way to bring forth great harvest in Jesus name .

Speaker 2

In Jesus name .
