Introduction to Spiritual Warfare

Speaker 1

There is a supernatural arena that is more real than what you see right now . The old church used to call it a thin place . It meant that the place between here and heaven got real thin and you could feel the tangible presence of God . If you want to get delivered from thoughts , behaviors , choices , people , this is the environment to do that . It's your move . Are you going to overcome ? Are you going ?

Speaker 3

to rise above . Are you going to pick up your mat ?

Speaker 1

You won't get stuck here , you won't complete the business . You won't complete this site . God said I got a better day . That's coming , and I'm developing something on the inside of you . There's a greater day ahead , son .

Speaker 3

That's how great God is Don't give up until God writes a good ending to your story .

Speaker 1

You can look up in the sky and see the goodness of God . We can look at a smile and see the goodness of God . We can worship and see the goodness of God . The goodness of God is all around us . You say , well , why is there pain ? Because this is not our home .

Speaker 3

We're soldiers here , we're just passing through . I don't know what change you're in , but they're coming on . Their chains will be loosed . Suppression has to go , sickness and disease have to go , anxiety and fear have to go forever . Everything changes when it comes to social media . I am not surprised , or I can understand why some people would be like blindsided and be like oh my gosh , why are you cheering for him or why are you praising him or what you know ? Why do you feel like this toward him ? He is a terrible person because you can get stuck in your algorithm and it keeps feeding you more of the same stuff and you don't realize that there's a whole other world out there . I mean , there's a world out there that says something else .

Addressing Charlie Kirk's Assassination

Speaker 1

Hey everybody , welcome to Doing Life with Ken and Tabitha . We're excited to have you guys join us today . If this is your first time tuning in , we just want to say welcome . We have tons of content where this is primarily a marriage podcast and a relationship podcast , but we also do some personal growth things because we didn't have to talk about tonight , but we do . I really want to talk about the assassination of Charlie Kirk and I also want to talk about what we can do to kind of take a step forward , how we can be healed from that . So I just kind of want to have an unscripted conversation about the season that we're in as humanity , also the season that we're in as believers , and just see if we can find God's will . And I feel like a lot of people are hurting there , do you ?

Speaker 1

feel that Absolutely yeah , why do you think that is ?

Speaker 3

I think it never feels good to see someone die number one . But to see it in front of our eyes , to see something like that happen , it just doesn't feel good , just as being a human being .

Speaker 1

I'm going to be honest with you . I don't know if well , I didn't see it like everybody else saw it . I stayed away from those images because I knew it wasn't for my soul , but the response that people have had to his death has been the most troubling part to me how there was dancing in the streets , how there are some people that actually are kind of like , hey , that's what you get , and so you know .

Speaker 1

Look , political violence is never right . Being excited about someone's death when they have a wife and they have small children , and I think so many times we demonize when we really should humanize and just say this was a person . Was it a perfect person ? No , did he make some mistakes ? Yes , did he say things that was insensitive and maybe we don't even agree with ? Yes , but was he still a human being ? Yes , was he a brother in Christ ? I believe that he was , and so we really have to humanize him .

Speaker 1

And my hope is even to start off this podcast for those . See , sometimes people will watch a podcast like this and they're saying let me see what they're going to say , Let me see if they agree with me , and if they don't agree with me , then let's attack them . And that's just really , really unhealthy to do . You know , I think when we do that , we really get ourself into a place where we're narrow and we just only listen to people who think like us , vote like us and believe like us . But I want diversity in my life . I want to do life with people who don't think like me , vote like me and I want to love them anyway .

Speaker 3

Anything . Yeah , I think that's what Jesus did . You know , jesus was a friend to sinners , he was a friend to tax collectors , he was a friend to everyone . And then also , you know , love conquers all , and so I am . Yes , we have family members that don't agree with us , maybe politically or just in anything . You might like blue , but I like green , but I can still love you . And I think that when we slow down to listen to why people feel the way they do , even if you disagree , when you listen to why it does something in your heart to say , okay , I don't agree with you , but I understand from your point of view what you're talking about , it allows us to have compassion and empathy toward one another .

Speaker 1

And that's one of the main things that I've been trying to do is just really empathize with people like , no matter what side you're on . So there's some people that feels like Charlie is a martyr , he was a man of God , and they only see his good side .

Speaker 1

Then there's other people who believe that he was a white supremacist and he was a racist and they do not understand why anybody would want to celebrate this man and the other people don't understand why anybody would not want to celebrate this man , and what I try to do is be empathetic , which is to put myself in the shoe of that other person . So , depending upon your algorithm , you can be fed all kinds of different information . So if you're a person who has an appetite for , let's just say , perversion , your Instagram is going to send you more perversion . I never get perverted stuff because I have no appetite for it .

Speaker 1

If you are a Democrat , your algorithm is going to send you more Democratic information . If you're , a . Republican . It's going to send you what it thinks you have an appetite for .

Speaker 3

So what's the danger in that ?

Speaker 1

The danger in it is that you pigeonhole yourself and you become narrow and you only have information from one side . So if you believe that Charlie was just this great man of God and he is a martyr , you have no clue what these other people could be thinking about . And there's this pointing at if your pastor didn't say this and if your church didn't say this , they're a coward . No , maybe they just have information that you wasn't privy to and vice versa . So the person who says how can you celebrate this man , how can you lift up this man ? Well , you don't understand how much he was doing good on college campuses and the gospel was being preached , obviously , around the world . Right , I had no clue how big this guy was . You got .

Speaker 1

London is affected , korea is affected , africa we're getting calls from everywhere about someone . So obviously you didn't know that that was there . And it's not because anybody's dumb and it's not because people want to lift up somebody . That's evil . It's just that they have had a different encounter and experience than you . So empathy says like , let me put myself in your shoes so that I can see things from your vantage point so I don't judge something incorrectly .

Speaker 3

Yeah , I think , and you know , talking about social media , I had a conversation with someone not too long ago and they were like , oh , you know , I hate social media and I'm not getting on , and every time I get on it it makes me crazy , and you know all this stuff .

Speaker 3

And I thought and I literally said back I was like , huh , I've been enjoying my social media and I was like because I get on there and there's all these really stupid things , like you know , these little dogs that I love , and ducks and cats and all of these like animals and like the dumbest stuff , and it's because that's all I look at and it keeps feeding me more of these things that make me laugh hilariously . So I'm like , oh , I've been having a good time with my social media and so I think again , when it comes to social media , I am not surprised or I can understand why some people would be like blindsided and be like , oh my gosh , why are you cheering for him or why are you praising him or why , you know , why do you feel like this toward him ? He is a terrible person , because you can get stuck in your algorithm and it keeps feeding you more of the same stuff and you don't realize that there's a whole other world out there . I mean , there's a world out there that says something else .

Speaker 1

I was a little blindsided . I was a little blindsided . Yeah , maybe I'll talk about that Before I jump . So remember that and I'll come back to that . So I was blindsided just to tap in .

Social Media Algorithms and Divided Perspectives

Speaker 1

I want to talk to the two different kinds of people that are on here , and I want you to know that we're Ken and Tabitha . We're your friends . We're not here to hurt you , we're only here to help you , and I pray that this podcast will have enough truth and grace in it that will just help somebody , and I would love to know in the comments who just needed some help , and we want to pray for you . If you need prayer for anything , just put it in the comments . I'm having our team just watch for prayer requests that come over , because I believe that there's so many triggers that are happening where people are dealing with trauma and people are shouting in the comments , and if we can provide a safe place where we can have just like healthy Christian conversations , like I'm all for it . I'm not for the name calling , I'm not for the hatred , I'm not for that . That's not going to get us anywhere but conversations by the Spirit of God would .

Speaker 1

So I would say , if you're're a person who's grieving right now because you deemed that Charlie was a great man , I would say we love you , we want to pray for you , we're here for you and we would love to just try to help you overcome that grief . And I would say your best days are still out in front of you , and to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord . If you're a person who feels triggered because you just deemed him to be an evil person , a racist , a white supremacist , I would say stick around , because I don't think that's necessarily true , but I get you and I understand you If I believe that by a person as well , like , let's say , Bin Laden . I wasn't having a prayer memorial for Bin Laden . I was like , okay , we got him . You know what I'm saying .

Speaker 1

If you deem somebody is evil and I understand that you can conclude that and you can actually be triggered by people celebrating somebody that you deem to be evil . And so just know we love you and we're praying for you and we want to help you process the pain and you're not like . You're not like something's not wrong with you . You just have to make sure that you um have all of the information , but then also what you're going to do with the unforgiveness . You know , forgiveness is too cold . Unforgiveness is too costly for you to carry it . That's bitterness and resentment is too costly for you to carry it . And as a born again believer , there's something that you have to do , even if that's what you deem him as a racist . But I don't think that's the case . So what did I tell you ?

Speaker 3

We're talking about . Oh , I forgot what you said . You were blinded .

Speaker 1

Okay . So how this happened for me ? Okay , blindsided I was blindsided , so I learned first about Charlie Kirk about six to 12 months ago . I think .

Speaker 1

And I saw him on my feed and I was just seeing him on college campuses and the young man was doing his thing . I mean , he's debating and he's talking about the sanctity of the womb , he's talking about the foundation of the family , the importance of fathers being at home , he's talking about sexual purity versus sexual immorality . He's breaking things down and he's preaching the gospel and I'm like this guy is witty , this guy , and he was giving people who did not agree with him . He was actually inviting people to come and debate with him and I just thought that was kind of dope .

Speaker 1

So I started following him and after I followed him for a little bit , he made a statement about black on black crime . And he was talking about black on black crime but the tone of it , I felt , was a little let's just call it belittling and I felt like as an outsider , you know , I was just like , yeah , it was true what he said , like the statistics was true . I just ain't gonna hear him say it . Like as a black man , I'm like I get you , bruh , but I don't know about what you said , and so I don't know if you remember . You remember I came and I said something to you . I said baby , I feel like .

Speaker 3

I do remember . Yeah , I forgot about that . I heard Charlie Kirk say , I just don't know , if I put it together , who it was . I just heard a comment .

Speaker 1

Yeah , I was like I heard Charlie Kirk say this man , I don't know about that , and so I kind of pulled back on him . But here's the difference respected him , I still loved him , I still believed that God was using him , but I just didn't feel like it was necessarily for me , you know . And so I think that's different than what this generation does . As soon as you find somebody that you don't agree with , then you attack them and you hate them and you want nothing to do with them . I didn't feel like that at all and I didn't feel like he was a racist , I just felt like what he said , I didn't really like it . And then we fast forward to his assassination , and I remember when I saw his assassination on the news , my heart dropped .

Speaker 1

My heart dropped and I felt physical pain and I cannot tell you why . Still today , it felt like I lost somebody that I knew . I didn't know this man I just been following a clip here and there for six to 12 months , but it felt to me like , okay , it was almost . Like you know , I always try to live my life really close to the Holy Spirit and I felt the Holy Spirit was grief . I felt like there was something in the spirit that this was symbolic of . It wasn't just the death of a person . I felt like my faith was attacked , but I felt like there was something happening in the spirit and .

Speaker 1

I could feel it , I don't know what did you feel ?

Speaker 3

I kind of , you know , yeah , I felt the same way . I knew who Charlie Kirk was and um , so , you know , I'd been listening to him for years , you know , like I've , I knew who he was and so , um , when I heard that it happened , actually we dropped . I picked up our daughter from a track meet , uh , from track practice cross country , and um , I walked in the door and it was the first thing on the news , Like , and I was just like , oh no , and I immediately began to pray and um , like , just a few minutes went by and I put dinner on the table , the kids ate , and it was just like the , the news came by that he had died and I was like , oh my good , like I just , I remember I just I clapped my hands , like you know , like no , you know , because I was the only one in the room and I did , I felt just heartbroken , like no , how could this happen ? It was so weird .

Speaker 1

It's almost like I could feel in the spirit . Yeah . I've never felt nothing like this . I can't even articulate Things happened before with political figures .

Speaker 3

Things happened before , just like even with you know , school shootings , and like your heart breaks , like you , like this is terrible , like these things are terrible , but this one had a spiritual tone . You know to it that I felt like this is an attack on the body of Christ , this is an attack on the gospel .

Speaker 1

Yeah , and so so for me , that's how I felt . All right , I've received a word of the Lord about a mantle falling on a generation . I released that word of the Lord the next morning , and we'll talk about that , maybe a little bit as well . I was amazed at the amount of people that hated Charlie .

Speaker 3

I was too .

Speaker 1

As the thing started coming out , I was amazed because my algorithm ain't send me that . I'm just going to be honest with you . I never had one thought , ever , that he was a racist . I thought he was preaching the gospel . I saw him debating about gender confusion and stuff like that . I thought he was witty . He was talking a little bit of politics here and there . I didn't look at him as a political figure . My algorithm sent me that he was a person of faith . That's what I discern . Maybe that's just how I view . That's my worldview . So when people were saying they were dancing in the streets and even I'm hearing even some pastors and people saying certain things about him being a racist and a white supremacist I honestly was just shocked that people were saying that . And so this is what I've learned . This is what I've learned and this is the key Just because people call somebody a racist doesn't mean that they are . Let me say that again . Just because people call someone a racist , it doesn't mean that they are .

Speaker 1

Let me unpack that for a minute , because race as we know it today is being weaponized . Yes , it's being weaponized first by the camp of the enemy , because a kingdom divided against itself can't stand , but it's also being weaponized politically . So anytime you have a political opponent , all you got to do is just call them a racist , racist , racist , racist , dictator , fascist . That's one side . The other side , you're silly , you're stupid , you're Whatever these titles are . If you say it again and again , and again , and again , and again , and again , and again , and again , and God forbid , you have clips that's taken out of context . Well then , there is a portion of the voters that will just lean a certain way . Because , so many people have said it , they deem it to be true .

Speaker 3

Yeah , that kind of you know . Just for me , you know I'm half black , half white . If you look at me , I look like a black person . Sometimes I feel like I'm white . Most of the time I feel like I'm black because that's the color of my skin , you know . However , growing up , you know like when I grew up , I grew up with racism and I was from a small town there was black , white , no in between and um . So I mean I had real racism , like fighting racism , spit in your face racism , and um . So nowadays , when I hear somebody just say , oh , you're a racist and it's , they're really not , it's just , it's like I don't know , I just ignore it because I'm kind of like you . Maybe you haven't experienced real racism , maybe you don't know what real racism really is .

Speaker 1

Yeah , like , really what it is Like fighting at the bus , oh yeah , fighting other boys , yeah , from kids teachers , grown men , grown women , people calling you the N-word yes or all of that . Yes .

Speaker 1

Most of your life . Yes , I say that because I think that there's a section of our audience that might not understand that racism is real . It is an ancient spirit . It's been around as we tribalize it's a divisive spirit . It's a divisive spirit . It's been around for eons and it comes to divide us based upon nationality , language , skin color , ethnos whatever it happens

Understanding Different Viewpoints

Speaker 1

to be , but in the church of the living God .

Speaker 1

We have to put that spirit underneath our feet . What people don't know is that we just had our son , who was at a school , experiencing racism . It was a private school , supposedly a Christian school . We went , we had to meet with everybody . We had a whole round table . They apologized , they had a diversity leader that was there and everything was supposed to be better At the end of the year . My son stayed quiet , but at the end of the year he says he told his uncle hey , this is what's been going on . They've been talking , you know , touching my hair , turning off the light . Say , where's Kenny talking about ? He likes chicken and watermelon and all of it . I mean there's I could give you a list of racial things . So we move . We just moved my son back into public school . Let me say it again .

Speaker 3

We moved him out of Christian school , christian private school , into public school .

Speaker 1

So that he could just have more . And he's having a good time , a good time preaching the gospel . He's having a good time just witnessing . I say , kenny , I say how do you like your new school ? And he says I like it . I said do people ? I said why do you like it ? He says because I just go , I can eat lunch with people now , because they just normal people and there was such an elitist spirit . I don't think it was just racism .

Speaker 1

It was like elitism and racism together that he wouldn't even have any friends . And my son is like one of the most loving kids in the world . Now , that's his testimony . That's his story . He will will . He will grow up to be able to tell his own story . But for a person to feel like racism is not real . You do not understand the spirit world . But to us , this is what we know . We don't wrestle against flesh and blood .

Speaker 1

So , I've never been angry at white people , asians , hispanics , people groups , because I know that people is people and you can't throw the baby out with the bathwater . But I know that that spirit is real . So I guess , back to what I was saying about Charlie Kirk is that we have to make sure that we don't allow the devil to weaponize race like he's been weaponizing it . They're weaponizing it politically .

Speaker 3

And that's what I wanted to say also . So , having a person who has overcome racism , I don't think nothing about racism today . You know that happened with our son . It's done , it's over with .

Speaker 1

It's not holding us back . We don't want to write a review , whatever . I don't even care , it's just it's over with . When I ask me questions about them , y'all come talk .

Speaker 3

However what I don't like is , you know , just that , like that screaming , like if something goes wrong , I'm going to scream racism and then everyone's going to come like , oh gosh , you know , no , don't call me a racist . Like that is like I feel what's the words for it ? Don't use me , Don't use the color of my skin .

Speaker 1

I believe that too . I believe we use the racism card too much , and I think most of what we're experiencing is not racism , it's prejudice , and that's a different racism is you believe your race or the color of your skin you're superior to other skin tones . Prejudice is that you've prejudged people , and if we were honest , we all have some prejudice .

Speaker 1

We all prejudge people . People prejudge me , they prejudge you the way that you look , people prejudge people viewing , we prejudge and we just need to go to the Lord and say God , help us overcome our prejudices . But this whole racial thing , anyway , back to the Charlie Kirk piece . So I just feel like so many people like weaponize race . So for me and this would be my encouragement to you is that whenever it's politically and people like this person's a racist , this person's a racist , this person's a racist , like they did with Charlie Kirk , you got to go back and look at it yourself . So what I did is I took several days actually yesterday I took a whole six hours straight and I researched every single quote that he ever made that people are saying racist . Honestly , it's only about four to five things and I could give them to you . But if you really look at these four to five things , many of them are just taken out of context . They're taking a little clip here , they're editing here and it's being weaponized .

Speaker 1

There are some things that he said that was insensitive . There are some things that he said that I don't agree with . There are some things that he said that is just wrong , you know , but were they racist ? I don't believe that they were and I would really challenge you that , instead of taking my word for it and anybody else on social media's word for it , go back and don't just listen to those quotes and you've got to get the long version . Don't just listen to the short clips . You've got to get the long version . But don't just listen to that stuff . Listen to what he taught about Jesus and what he taught about sexuality and gender confusion and classism and victim mentality and those things , some of that stuff . It will literally open your eyes and maybe just help you be , you know , like a just . It would just help you be a better person . Yeah , but anyway , I did that . I did that . I took a few days .

Speaker 1

I took six hours on yesterday and I went back and I listened to everything , and this is for me Now . Here's what I would say to my audience we do life together . You don't have to believe everything I believe .

Speaker 1

People don't have to think like I think and vote like I vote for me to love you and for you to love me or for me to want to do life with you . That's the kind of people we are , some of the closest people to me . Don't vote like me and think like me . People that I love with everything , and we just leave that on the table . That's not the fiber of who people are , what side of the aisle they're on .

Speaker 3

Some things . If Jesus can't change you , I can't change you . So why are we going to fight about this ? Let's love each other .

Speaker 1

People say Pastor Ken , whose side are you on ? I'm on Jesus' side . What side are you on ? I'm on Jesus's side . Yeah . What side are you picking ? I pick Jesus . Yes , you know it's not life left or right . To me it's first and foremost upward . But anyway , I do not believe . Once again , you can believe whatever you want to believe . Please hear my heart .

Speaker 2

I just don't believe that Charlie Kirk was a racist . I don't believe that he was . Ok , he could have been , but I don't believe that he was OK .

Speaker 1

I believe for me . When I look back over the videos , I see that he had black friends . I see that he was a leader of a black organization . I see that he actually fought against white supremacy . He wouldn't let some nationalists come to his events . He actually kept them away , matter of fact , if you research it . When they heard that he died , white nationalists come to his events . He actually kept them away , Matter of fact , if you research it . When they heard that he died , white nationalists celebrated it because they looked at Charlie as an enemy .

Speaker 1

There are clips on him talking about how black , white , yellow , brown , red doesn't matter your race , we still have the same DNA . He is fighting fervently . I've seen clips of him talking about how we elevate color too much and he talks about I want to elevate who God's called people to be more than color . All I'm saying is that when you take the full context of who he was as a person , I personally don't conclude that he was a racist .

Speaker 1

Now , the reason that I bring that up is because the big problem that we have right now is just the race piece . That's why it's so ferocious , if I can bring that racial intensity down from 10 to eight . The world's a better place If I can bring it down to 10 to five , if I can bring it down to 10 to one , and that's all I'm saying . I want you to go watch the video for yourself , but just don't jump on this bandwagon If that's not the case . And man , if we could bring that down and say , ok , if he wasn't a racist man , you could . You could be praying for him and loving on his widow and his children that don't have a father .

Speaker 3

And you could just say God be a voice just to support . What does that mean for us in the earth right now ? What is God going to do in this time ?

Speaker 1

What is he going to do off of this ?

Speaker 3

Because we know that he'll take that which was meant for evil and turn it around and make it for our good God . How are you going to do this ? What do we need to do now ?

Speaker 1

Yeah , Well , I would also say this but what if you do your research and you conclude that Charlie was a racist ? Well , what you going to do . If you're a believer , you got to forgive him . Forgive Unforgiveness is too costly . Pray for your enemies . Pray for your enemies that's what scripture tells us to do . Do good for those that despitefully use you .

Speaker 1

I guess what I'm saying is I know that people are getting upset and angry because churches are praying for his family . That's what scripture teaches us to do . Churches are honoring his memory . I can't say what a church should and should not do , but what I'm saying is that I would pray for Saddam Hussein . You know what I'm saying ? I'm praying for Puff Daddy . I'm praying that he gets saved in prison . I'm praying for R Kelly . I'm praying for my prayer .

Speaker 3

If we don't pray for people who's going to do it , they don't have a chance .

Speaker 1

They ain't got a chance .

Speaker 3

Think about Paul . I mean , he was despicable .

Speaker 1

But on the road to Damascus he had an encounter with God Because the church was praying . That's why Somebody was praying . Like we got a neighbor right now that we've had a couple of run-ins , that hasn't been nice , and so when I come home I feel in my spirit like , oh , I hope I don't see someone . And I know it's wrong .

Speaker 1

But every time I feel that you know what I do , I pray for them . My neighbors they've said things to us that's childish . They've said things to us that's been belittling . They are my official prayer project .

Speaker 3

Hey , but you know what ?

Speaker 1

Just on that topic .

Speaker 3

I think I like them now .

Speaker 1

You like them ? I've turned a corner . Listen , I have too .

Speaker 3

I see them and I'm waving . I'm like they're nice , we nice , we just got off on the wrong foot .

Speaker 1

I'm going after them , but I had to start in prayer because I got to get my heart there first , and that's what the enemy doesn't want you to do . If you think that Charlie was a racist , he should be your prayer project .

Speaker 1

His family should be your prayer project . You overcome evil with good . The Bible says do good to those who hate you . That means that maybe you should support financially his organization that's been left behind . That's what it means to do good . I'm not going to tell you how to do good . What I'm saying is that when you have deemed somebody evil and you don't like them , what is the response of the believer ? It's not just to go eye for an eye or tooth for a tooth . It's to say no , they are now my official prayer project and I'm going to love them like Jesus would love them . That is challenging , but that's what it means to not just read the Bible but actually live it . And so I don't know . I mean , I'll be praying for them . I'm blessing their kids and their grandkids . God , I pray for them at their job that no weapon formed against them shall prosper . I'll be laying hands on the wall because , where their house is , I'll be praying in their direction and I'm going to see some fruit from my prayers in the name .

Speaker 1

I do

Racism vs. Prejudice: Important Distinctions

Speaker 1

want to talk a little bit about how some people are using crutch , using race as a crutch . They're using race as an idol and we live in a day and time that you got to be very careful that you don't make your ethnicity an idol . And people are making their culture an idol and they actually have their natural culture above the culture of the kingdom . And I would just want to issue a warning and say you got to be very , very careful that you don't make the color of your skin and your natural ethnicity above who God's called you to be spiritually . Jesus said it this way who is my mother and my brother other than those who do the will of the Father ? He was not trying to dismarry in his natural family .

Speaker 1

He was just putting it in priority . He was saying just because you have my skin tone , my melanin , my pigment , even if you got my same last name , it don't mean that you got my same God and the people that are really my family . We got the same God and the people that are really my family . We got the same God . And the thing that I like about this family that got the same God is that I got some light-skinned family members . I got some dark-skinned family members . I got some family members that vote to the left . I got some family members that vote to the right , but as long as they do the will of .

Speaker 1

God . They are actually more of my family than even those who look like me and think like me , but we don't have the same God . That's a kingdom reality , and it's so important that we don't bow our knee to the idol of culture , but we exalt the culture of the kingdom .

Speaker 3

That's so good .

Speaker 1

Anything else come to you with that one , amen , amen , where do we go from here ?

Speaker 3

I ?

Speaker 1

guess is the question when do we go from here ? I guess is the question when do we go from here ? I think we should start really with some prayers of maybe renouncing and repenting . I think there has been historical racism in our land , but it's not just been an American problem . This has been a worldwide problem . Slavery was not invented by Americans . It was long before America even existed . Whatever has taken place in our nation , I don't know .

Speaker 1

I just want to be liberty to say this I have forgiven everyone who has enslaved my people . I have forgiven everyone who is . I forgive people who passed Jim Crow laws . I forgive the people who had the segregation with the white bathrooms and the white schools and the black schools . I forgive everybody . Matter of fact , nobody owes me nothing . I don't need 40 acres and a mule . All of my increase comes from God , because if I'm sitting around waiting for the government to give me something , look , nobody owes me nothing but love . You got to come to the place , see . I've renewed my mind with the word of God so much that I know that my battle is never with white folks , black folks , asian folks , rich folks , poor folks . There is a devil loose and he comes to steal , kill and destroy , and I don't need anything from the government , I don't need anything from a people group . Now , if the government want to give me something , I'll give them my address , just hit me in the .

Speaker 3

DMs .

Speaker 1

But I'm not expecting anything from the government , because my increase comes from God , my promotion comes from God , and one of the things that I'm really challenged with as a black man and listen , black is not who I am , it's what I am , and this is different . A lot of people think the color of their skin is who they are . No , who I am is a blood washed , blood bought child of God who happens to be in a black , some would say , or darker earth suit .

Speaker 1

Human beings are 99.9% the same 0.1% is our melanin and pigment . So I can actually get a kidney from a white man if we have the same blood type , but I couldn't get it from a black man man if we have the same blood type , but I couldn't get it from a black man .

Speaker 1

From the dust we came to the dust , we're going to return , and Satan is dividing us over the dust , over the dirt . My dirt might be darker than your dirt , but your dirt ain't better than my dirt and your dirt , my dirt , ain't better than your dirt . It's all dirt . God's going to give us a resurrected body , and so I'm saying this out of a renewed mind . I am not a victim , I'm a victor . I don't want to feel like oh , black people in America has just been so hard .

Speaker 3

Please , I've been prospering here .

Speaker 1

God's favor is on me here . I see so many of my brothers and sisters ethnically that are prospering . Why ? Because they got work ethic , why Because they got intelligence ? Why Because they have an anointing on their life , and I think one of the worst things that we can do to a people group is teach them to wait for a handout .

Speaker 1

I don't need a handout , I need a hand up , and as long as God is pulling me up , as long as the favor of God is on my life , I can do all things through Christ , who strengthens me , and so I want us to maybe just think about not trying to lead off with hey , we're black . No , I'm a child of God , I'm an heir of God and a joint heir with Christ Jesus . I know that's not popular , but it's true .

Speaker 3

What you're talking about is . You're talking about the Bible . You're talking about gospel having a kingdom mindset . The Bible says for us not to be conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind . That was my favorite scripture when I first got into the Word and learning it . It still is one of my favorite scriptures today , because I was conformed to the world and so I am like yes , born and raised in the projects . I didn't leave the projects until I was 18 years old . I got into college by a miracle . I got into college on grants and loans , got into college and I had to . Once I got born again , I had to renew my mind according to the gospel and according to the word of God , the kingdom of God .

Speaker 3

Because before then I was taught and how I grew up was that you depend on the government for something . If not the government , some charitable organization . I got powdered milk . I got government cheese . I got the Salvation Army on Thanksgiving , the Salvation Army on Christmas . Christmas , I depended on getting my an angel on somebody's Christmas tree and somebody was going to buy me something so that I could have a nice Christmas . I was taught to always depend on somebody because there was nobody looking out for me , like like , as if I couldn't take care of myself . But when I go to the Bible , the Bible says that I can do all things through Christ , who strengthens me . The Bible says that I am called out of darkness and placed into his marvelous light . The Bible says that Jesus was poor , rich but became poor so that through him I could have life and be prosperous .

Speaker 3

Yes , it says that so many things . That tells us that now we have the power that we can overcome with God . With God , all things are possible . With God , we are able to just have a successful life in every area . That means in our health , that means in our mindset , and that means even in our finances , in every area . And so I think , yeah , what you're saying is just like the American dream . It is alive . It's alive for black people , brown people , yellow people , white people , red people . It is alive and there is opportunity . That's not to say that some people don't have it bad . The fact that I am alive today and sitting here on this podcast is a miracle .

Speaker 3

It is hard for people to get out . It's hard to get out of the ghetto . It's hard to get out of the hood . It was hard for me to get out , but you can get out . And I just want to say that if someone's listening , and that's you , you're stuck in a poverty cycle . You're stuck in the projects . You're stuck in the hood . You're stuck in the ghetto . You out in the boondock somewhere and nobody even knows what the name of your city is . There is a way out . With the word of God , you can get out .

Speaker 1

The first way you got to get out . You got to get out in your thinking .

Speaker 1

In your mind you got to get out in your thinking , and so , unfortunately , what happens is that people that think alike , they attract other people that think alike , and that's why the algorithm is so damaging . The algorithm can almost create an invisible prison in you because it is creating what the scripture calls strongholds . It is a victim mentality , it is a woe , is meat mentality , it is a poverty mentality , and it's not that a person can't overcome . It's just as you think in your heart , so is he , as a man thinks in his heart . So the first thing that you have to do is you have to raise your level of thinking . When you raise your level of thinking and believing , you can raise your level of living , and that's what the gospel is . It is good news , not just for eternity . It is good news that heaven can invade earth right now , and so our greatest challenge that we have is that there are political agendas , propaganda and also language that people think they're helping someone and they're actually hurting someone .

Speaker 1

But , people are saying I need to help , I need to help , I need to help . And so let me be clear . So are you saying that we shouldn't have welfare and government assistance ? That's not what . I'm saying , but I'm saying that it it shouldn't be something that people depend on as if they're going to . And you know , like I know , people will stay in the projects because they know that check is coming and they would rather not make money so that they could do that .

Speaker 3

Now , everybody doesn't do that , Not everybody . But when I was in the projects we would sell those food stamps and get cash Right To go out and buy drugs and alcohol .

Speaker 1

The system that we really want is where , when people need help , we help them for a time but then we also give them training so that they can start businesses and they can be in industry . So when we were on government assistance in the beginning of our marriage and we were waiting for the first of the month , we had it for the first year of our marriage , but thank God we don't have it now . It was a help for a moment to get us to where we needed to go and I think that when it's properly applied and I'm not trying to get into politics it just all kind of goes together . It's a spiritual thing .

Speaker 3

To me it has to do with a poverty mentality and a victim mentality , but anyway , I think where we went in because I started it , I mean what I was trying to say is you were talking about renewing your mind and talking about people , because sometimes you can get in this victim mentality and this victim mindset and I'm passionate about it . You're passionate about it because I used to be there . I was there . Sexual abuse , physical abuse , verbally abused , grew up in alcoholism , addiction , all kinds of stuff , and so there's so much that's coming at you and some people feel trapped and every time the race card is pulled , every time somebody starts talking about white supremacy and things like that , instead of us kind of like rising above it , we just feel it's like an open wound .

Speaker 1

It's an open wound , it has to get healed . Yeah , it's just like we keep getting hit , but we have to be healed from it .

Speaker 1

Yes , and you know your perspective when you get healed Like if somebody was racist towards me and a white supremacist . I don't even care , because you can't do nothing to stop me . I still live in a nice home , I still got my kids , I still got . You're not . I don't give a care what you say . It bothers me not that much , because you're just putting your ignorance on display . You're crazy . If that's what you believe , I'm not . I don't even have time to fight you in the comment section because I don't even want to waste my thumb energy .

Speaker 1

I don't want to waste my thumb energy with dumb stuff , it's true , but the amount of people that are putting I mean , they're crying and they're going hard because they believe something that might not even be true and I just want us to get healed and I believe that we can . I think it starts with prayer and we got to say God , I renounce every racist , prejudiced thought I've ever had and I renounce the hurt that is in my heart for the things that people have done to me . I know that there are so many people . They've had an injustice , they've been looked over for a job , they've been pulled over . There's been racial profiling . Some of that stuff is really real , but you still got to come to the place where you overcome it . God forgive me for holding on to that Matter of fact .

Speaker 1

You might just want to pray with

Overcoming Victim Mentality with Faith

Speaker 1

us very quickly and just say close your eyes and say God , I renounce the mindset of poverty . I renounce a victim mentality . I renounce a woe is me mentality . I'm a victor through Christ . Just say this with me , I can do all things through Christ . I'm the head and not the tail . I'm above only and never believe Everything I touch prospers and just begin to repent .

Speaker 1

God , forgive me for prejudice thoughts , stereotypical thoughts , racist thoughts , and I want you to take some time , people , and pray for your enemies . Pray for your enemies , do good to those who've hurt you . I got a lot of scriptures I could go through . John 17 , 20 says that they shall be one . I think it's important for us to become one again as the body of Christ . Psalms 133 talks about how there's a commanded blessing when we dwell together in unity , not the black church , the white church , the yellow church , but the church of homo sapiens , made in the image and likeness of God . Ephesians 4 , 11 through 16 talks about how we all will attain the unity of the faith . And while I'm at it , I think we really just need to get back to even honoring spiritual leadership again .

Speaker 3

I've seen people online .

Speaker 1

They're like I've been at this church for 15 years and my pastor didn't say anything about what happened this week . And if you're at a church like that and your pastor ain't bold enough and he's not great man , you're judging your pastor's heart pretty tough . Yeah .

Speaker 1

I know I got pastor friends that was on sabbatical had their phone off and they're waking up to this stuff a little bit late . I had one pastor friend that has a huge church and somebody died . He missed church because I was out of town . I was in Boston myself church because I was out of town . I was in Boston myself and I was just trying to navigate my wife , my children , my own personal pain , things that are happening in my life and it's just a sad thing to see people come to church and treat their pastor like a puppet .

Speaker 1

And your pastor is not a puppet . You can't control the narrative . You can't say , well , he should have done this and he should have done that . That's what you want him to do .

Speaker 1

Maybe , God ain't telling him to do that . The only one that control the spiritual leader is God and every other person has to submit to the God on the inside of that person . And I know a lot of pastors . Really they are not cowards . They are not . They are not cowards . They didn't say something because they have the wisdom of God to know that the demographic of their church like if your pastor preached Jesus and the Bible and people got saved that's what the Scripture tells us to do .

Speaker 1

The Scripture does not tell us that we have to make a memorial for another human being . The Scripture doesn't tell us that they can't give you one verse . Now I would hope that we could stand behind the Kirk family and pray for the Kirk family . That's my own conviction . I can't project that on another church or another pastor . They have to lead that flock based upon how the Holy Spirit has asked them to lead that and they'll give an account of what they did and didn't do . But this whole thing about just attacking your pastor , that's part of the problem , that's not the solution . I just can't do that .

Speaker 3

I'm sorry , I don't know . I try not to disrespect , just like another human being , period , but then someone who is anointed , someone who said yes to God , I just like . I mean , I hear people saying things and I'm nervous for them .

Speaker 1

I'm like oh , that sounds like in the Old Testament , the ground would open up and swallow them up , but I think that I feel in my heart that we're coming back to another season . But I think that I feel in my heart that we're coming back to another season . When you dishonor the people that God has honored . It's going to not be well with you . It's not going to be well with you .

Speaker 3

I mean like I'm honoring . I was in the car on the way here . There was a homeless person , you know , just with the sign and stuff . I'm looking for money just trying to honor . Like here you go , sir . The last time I did it I gave him like maybe a $10 bill and he says oh man , I could , I could get a meal with this , I can go get some lunch with this . And I was like God bless you , sir .

Speaker 1

You know , like , just honoring , like people , yeah , there are people who dishonor their pastor and spiritual leadership . They will miss the double portion anointing and they will miss something significant that God wants to do . 20 years of ministry I've seen people get offended at me , get offended at you for nonsense , stuff that they just don't understand . I just had a young man come back last Sunday , grown man , crying his eyes out , hugging me , pastor Ken , it's been 10 years since I've seen him . I'm so sorry I left . His marriage is not in a good place . His soul is not in a good place .

Speaker 3

He looked around and said look at everything that I missed .

Speaker 1

His marriage is not in a good place . His soul is not in a good place . He looked around and said look at everything that I missed . Look what you guys have built . I just had my own trauma . I even disconnected you from social media . I didn't want to see your face that , unfortunately , you fell into the plan of the enemy . Whatever you thought , and there's so many people and what you do you miss everything that God's doing . You miss the anointing . This is what I believe there's a Davidic generation that's rising up that will not cut the robe of Saul . David had so much honor in his heart that , even though Saul was wrong , saul was wrong .

Speaker 1

He was trying to kill David .

Speaker 1

It was a time that he found him in a cave and he cut the robe of Saul and he repented because he touched God's anointed . Even though Saul wasn't perfect , he wasn't in the office that was perfect and it represented God . Your pastor is not perfect . They're people , but the office that they're in is an office that's holy . A Davidic generation will never hurt the anointing . They will never put their mouth on , they will pray for really what we should be doing in this hour , saying pastor , I know it's hard to leave right now , especially if you've got a diverse church pastor .

Speaker 1

Pray for your pastor , I lost some sleep over this week , but the Davidic generation is like pastor your people is my people , your friends are my friends , your enemies are my enemies . If you need anything in this season , just know . I got your back . And that Davidic Elisha generation , elisha walked in the double portion . I believe that God's raising up an Elisha , davidic John the Baptist , prepare the way generation . And in closing , let's just talk about that really quickly , because this is where we feel like the church is going . I don't know why this has happened . As it relates to the assassination , my heart breaks for Erica , charlie's wife , their children , this is going to grow up with .

Speaker 1

I'm humanizing this man . My heart breaks for those whose heart is breaking . I do not know why God has allowed this to happen , but it has been allowed to happen . The next day after the assassination , I get up and I'm praying and I'm wrestling with these thoughts and the Lord showed me a mantle that was falling and it was just something I saw in the spirit a mantle falling .

Speaker 1

And the Lord says there is a mantle falling on the next generation , specifically generation Z and generation alpha , and this mantle is a mantle . And so it's like , with the killing of one man , man , god is now raising up a whole multitude of people that will walk in the same spirit of boldness , biblical worldview , clarity and power . It just has nothing to do with his inconsistencies and the things that he said was that was insensitive and we don't agree with . There is a spirit that's rising up and we see it happening , and our young people , we see it happening around the world . And for me , this ain't Generation Z and Alpha . This for

Honoring Spiritual Leadership in Difficult Times

Speaker 1

me . I'm taking this for me because I just believe that I want to live my life to where , when I die , people around the world can say that man , he did something .

Speaker 1

You know what I'm saying . Now I want them to be able to say he was a good man . But , more importantly , I want to hear God say job well done . You depopulated hell and you populated heaven . There's a revival . That's here , guys . There's a revival . That's here , guys . There's a revival . That's here , guys . If we can don't say four months , then comes the harvest . The harvest is now , the harvest is white . Don't say it's coming later on . The revival is here right now .

Speaker 1

There will be people that miss this , whether it be hurt offense , whether it be religion , whether it be they're in the wrong church , doing the wrong thing . Don't miss this moment . This is a moment that we've been praying for Miracles , signs , wonders , salvation through the nations of the world . Salvation through the nations of the world . You're going to see notable people come to Jesus . The conversation friends of mine said my attendance was up this past Sunday 30% . After the assassination , 25 , 40% because people are just there . Was something about this moment that showed people they were a sinner in need of a savior , and I don't know what it did , but it just awoken something in the sleeping and in the lukewarm people to say you know what ? My life tomorrow's not guaranteed . I got to get it right right now . We're going to ride that . We're going to ride that .

Speaker 3

And we felt since the beginning of this year that something special was going to happen this fall . And we had been . The prophecies went forth and we knew , like , even through the summer , it was just like I , you know , we had went on a sabbatical this summer and it was just like I still didn't rest a lot because I felt myself , preparing for the fall and the outpouring , what's going to happen in the fall . Now , I had no idea that such heartbreak would happen in the fall , but the outpouring still is happening .

Speaker 1

The pain has been for a purpose .

Speaker 3

Yes , and what I want to say is it's never too late for a turnaround . You talk about the gentleman , the man who came up and repented , and all of this .

Speaker 3

It's not too late to get it right and to turn around .

Speaker 3

And we saw the same thing on Sunday . We saw people come . I mean , our altars were filled with people , Every single service , for four services , altars filled . And there are two things that I noticed and you mentioned them . Number one people who were in lukewarm . They were in the lukewarm zone . They came up .

Speaker 3

One lady literally said look , I've just been in and out of church but I know the right thing to do . She said , with what happened with Charlie , I felt like I need to get it right with God . She said I signed up for baptism , I am getting into church , I know there's a call of God on my life . And it called those people to draw a line in the sand and say , uh-uh , I live for God . And then the second thing I saw was for people who were already coming to church and stuff like that . They were so repented .

Speaker 3

I had grown men . I had men and fathers and sons come to the altar together and mother and daughter come to the altar together , boo-hooing , repenting , just saying , you know , just repenting before God , because they wanted to get things right . There is a stirring . That happened , it's happened . It is a turning point , ironically , a turning point for the body of Christ and I believe that we're still in that revival , that outpouring . It's something special and I just encourage everyone to pray . Hear from God , Don't miss what God is . There's a move in the earth .

Speaker 1

This is what I would do . Here's some practical steps and we'll be done for today . Just get your heart right before the Lord first . Whatever you need to do , whatever you feel like yeah , I've been carrying this with me . I'm done with it .

Speaker 3

So if there's bitterness , you got to get rid of bitterness . You got to get rid of unforgiveness , you got to get rid of that anger and hatred . You got to let that go so that you can hear from God with a pure heart .

Speaker 1

That's number one . Number two would be you need to spend time in God's word every day . You just got to start reading the Bible , hearing the Bible , listening to podcasts . You need to cut back the secular and pump up the sacred . Let me say it again cut back the secular and invest in the sacred , okay . Number three you got to get to church , okay .

Speaker 1

Now I don't know where you're watching this , what city you're in , where you are in the world . Find a good local church and sell out there . The people ain't going to be perfect . They're not supposed to be perfect . God is dealing with imperfect people all throughout the Bible , david Solomon . Nobody's perfect , but they're still anointed and in the will of God . You need to find a church
