Hello I’m Dash. I usually ask you to come along on a fairyland adventure with me, but today we have a special treat. The mail moth brought me a letter from Dippy Doo the Pixie. It’s fun to receive letters, don’t you think? I thought we could read it together! Here it is.
Hello Friends!
I passed Butter Bell today and she spoke of you. She’s a tad busy at the moment, as Spring is baby unicorn season! Special, and might I add, lucky fairies, get to work with unicorns. Butter Bell must be special as she works with the unicorn foals. Do you know what a foal is? I didn’t till she told me. A foal is the name for a baby horse or unicorn.
Did you know unicorns are kept in special locations. So secret that I don’t even know where. Only special wee folk get to know about them, let alone see these magical creatures. I’ll ask around to see if anyone can get you a picture. Fairies and pixies don’t have cameras as we have such a good memory. With our magical powers we can pass these images to other fairies and pixies. The closest humans come is in their dreams. Butter Bell may be able to project a picture to your dreams. I will ask her.
Did I tell you about my friend Beedle? He lives in the lovely green grass. When he’s scared or frightened he pops into little dirt holes in the ground. I looked everywhere the other day, but I couldn’t find him. I even looked under rocks. I was so worried. Thankfully he appeared late this afternoon. A little shaken, and a little dirty. Apparently, he was trapped in a hole for a the whole day.
Beedle told me how he was scavenging in the grass until a slimey snail crept up on him. Did I tell you, snails can eat Beedle? Yes they can! He dove into a little dirt hole to hide. Snails hate going underground. So he was safe.
Well anyway when the snail left, Beedle heard a sound like thunder. It shook the ground around him. Then suddenly the sun vanished from his sight. He was trapped. Beedle said the thing that blocked the hole was as big as a mountain but knowing how small he is I’m guessing it was a rock.
Do you think a human was trying to trap him? Or worse, squish him? Oh, I hope not.
Then this afternoon someone removed the darkness and returned the light. He said a human child did it. I’m so glad they did because Beedle is my bestest friend in the whole world. Can you share my thanks with that human child? I’d be lost without Beedle.
Anyway, I better go. I’m a bit of a talker as you can see. I just wanted to say hello as Butter Bell said you were nice and liked to hear our stories. Hopefully one who likes a chat like me!
Talk soon, Dippy Doo
Garden Pixie
Well dippy Doo is right, she’s very chatty. But, oh, poor Beedle. That must have been scary for him? I’m not that fond of the dark, are you? I used to be a little scared of it, but then I tried to imagine the light was still on. That helped. Plus, the fairies are watching over us, making sure we are safe. And ogres stay in the mountains, as they hate to travel. Trolls live under bridges, and my house isn’t on a bridge. Though I think they sleep at night too.
Ooo, hang on. Another mail moth just flew in! It’s a letter from Beedle! Let’s see what he has to say.
Hello! Helloooooooo
Hiya, my name is Beedle. Yes yes, like beetle but with a D. I live in the grass. Aha I do. I love the grass. Mmmm, it smells so fresh. And when you cut it, it smells even sweeter. Aha. I love drinking the sap from the cut stems. Ooooo that’s my favourite. Yes it is. Mhmm
Anyway, anyway, I am writing to say hi. HI! I am also writing to say thank you. THANK YOU. Yes yes, thank you to the human child for taking the mountain away so I could get out of the dirt hole. Oooo it was so dark. So so dark.
Do you remember me? No no you probably didn’t see me. Most don’t. But that is good. Good, good, yes.
I work in the grass. Did I tell you that? I help direct the water. Yes yes water. Water from the rain, water from the creeks, water from those long snakey things humans use. I direct it, yes I do. I make sure all the little plants get their share. Aha. Big plants are soooooo greedy. Yes they are.
Anyhooooo, see you soon!
Beedle

Oh, isn’t it good to see that Beedle is okay after his day of being trapped. And how nice of both Dippy Doo and Beedle to write us. I do hope we get more letters in the future. Don’t you?
Anyway, gotta go. See you soon!
