CHRIST THE VANQUISHER OF DEATH

Death is the one subject nobody can outgrow and most people avoid until it shows up at the door. We refuse to treat it like a taboo and instead preach the bold claim of the gospel: Jesus Christ defeats death, and that victory changes how we grieve, how we live, and what we value.
We open with prayer and then read 1 Corinthians 15:50–57, where Scripture declares that the perishable will put on the imperishable and that “death is swallowed up in victory.” From there, we press into what the resurrection of Jesus really means for everyday faith. If Christ is not risen, preaching is empty and hope collapses, but if He is risen, then our story does not end at the grave.
We also challenge the world’s value system with Ecclesiastes and Jesus’ question from Matthew 16:26: what profit is it to gain the whole world and lose your soul? Success, status, and comfort can be loud, but they cannot save, and they cannot outlast death. Finally, we address the fear of death directly, recalling how the tomb was sealed and guarded in Matthew 27 and yet could not hold the Savior. Death becomes a transition, not a throne, for those who accept Christ.

Greeting And Opening Prayer
SPEAKER_00Praise the Lord. Hallelujah. We come to you with covering greetings and the living word of God. In the name of God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. Christ has conquered death. Hallelujah. Let us pray. Father in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our living God, the resurrection and life, we worship you. Thank you for defeating the last enemy of man, which is death. Father, today, through your word, give us the grace to overcome the power of death and grief, so that our life can be resurrected to a living testimony to the glory of your name. These are many blessings we ask in Jesus' mighty name. Amen. The topic of our message is Christ, the vanquisher of death. Christ, the vanquisher of death. 1 Corinthians 15, 50 to 57. I read. Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God. Nor does corruption inherit incorruption. Behold, I tell you a mystery. We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed. In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet, for the trumpets will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible. And we shall be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mother must put on immortality. So when this corruptible has put up in corruption, and this mother has put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass. The saying that is written, death is swallowed up in victory. Oh death, where is your strength? Oh hate, where is your victory? The strength of death is sin, and the strength of sin is the law. But thanks be to God who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Hallelujah! Brethren, the story of the victory of our Lord Jesus Christ on the cross and his resurrection from the dead is a story to be celebrated forever until we see him in glory. Jesus came in general terms to redeem the world and reconcile us to God the Father. He didn't come to enjoy, like most of man's desires and prayers are. Man sees what he achieves as the real purpose of his coming to this world. These achievements are sometimes overselebrated, even above the salvation of our soul. But Christ came to lay down what our pride and celebration should be based upon. In 1 Corinthians chapter 15, verses 13 to 19, it says, But if there's no resurrection of the dead, then Christ is not risen. And if Christ is not risen, then our preaching is empty, and your faith is also empty. Yes, and we have found false witnesses of God, because we have testified of God that we raised up Christ, whom we did not raise up, if in fact the dead does not rise. For if the dead does not rise, then Christ is not risen. And if Christ is not risen, your faith is futile, you are still in your sins, then also those who have fallen asleep in Christ have perished. If in this life only we have the hope in Christ, we are all men of most pitiable. Exactly. Brethren, if our hope and all that we work for is limited to this horrible world, then life will hardly be worth living. That's why Jesus Christ came by his living, his trial, his punishment, his death, his resurrection and ascension to heaven, and the promise of his return changed the narratives for the value of our lives. Now, what is our life value system? Our life value system. Imagine the toil of man under the sun for many reasons: fame, affluence, food, clothes, pride of life, great positions. The richest and wisest man during his time, and who probably ever lived, summarized it and said it is vanity. In Ecclesiastes, chapter two, verse 17. King Solomon wrote that, therefore, I hated life because the work that was done under the sun was distressing to me. For all his vanity and grasping for the wind. Imagine how a rich man has summarized the toil of man under the sun. This is the testimony of a rich man who had unhindered access to money, fame, women, and all the spoils of this world. Until Christ came, all these were the platform on which many base their faith and struggles, only to get to the end and discover they are just chasing the wind. That was why Jesus Christ asked the question in Matthew chapter 16, verse 26 that for what shall it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul? Imagine the ambition to gain weight of a town, not to talk of the whole world. Our soul is more than any temporary pleasure that the world can offer us. This is the illustration that our Lord Jesus Christ encourages us. We should not trade our soul for anything, not even the word of the whole world. Hallelujah. Number two, the fear of death. Now, death is one of the most dreaded incidents in humanity. The fact that we live behind our belongings, that we labor for on earth is one of the lamentations of man while appraising the value of our toil on earth. An African saying has it that death is worth worshiping rather than the deities. That we are the deities when death came calling. Again, Jesus Christ came to redefine this concept by defeating death, getting victory over the grave. After Jesus Christ was crucified and kept in the tomb, the soldiers ordered that the tomb be secured so that his body will not be stolen and be said to have resurrected. They were afraid of the promise of resurrection coming to pass. Pilate had to ensure that the tomb was properly secured. In Matthew chapter 27, verses 63 to 66, he says, Sir, we remember while he was still alive how that deceiver said, After three days I will rise. Therefore, command that the tomb be made secure until the third day, lest his disciples come by night and steal him away. And say to the people, he has risen from the dead. So the last deception will be worse than the first. Go your way, make it as secure as you know how. So they went and made the tomb secure, sealing the stone and getting the guard. Brethren, the tomb and the heavy stone could not restrain Jesus Christ from resurrecting from the dead. Hallelujah! If Jesus Christ can raise the dead while on earth and declare himself the resurrection and life, then we know that surely death has been swallowed by Christ in victory. He came virtually to demystify death as not being the end of our journey here. It is now known to be a transition to eternal glory for his saints and eternal damnation for those who reject him. I pray that you will accept him today, so that death will be a transition to glory for you in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Amen. My prayers are that every good thing that is dead in your lives, including our faith and business, God will resurrect them for our blessings and for his glory. That we will all see Christ before we see death. And whenever death comes, we will have the grace of salvation to reign with him in glory. Amen. In subsequent broadcasts, we will be discussing the road to the cross and the love that kept Christ on the cross. Want to thank you for your patience in listening to this broadcast.
