It is summertime, and for the most part, the entire country is done with spawning bass. You have some fry garters, you have vegetation growing, and now is the time to throw your frogs. The frogs, the frog bite is every angler's, gotta be in every angler's top three bites from an enjoyment standpoint, but also can catch freaking big ins. From the top water explosions to throw it on heavy braid, heavy rods, it is a power fisherman's dream. And we're gonna talk about three different frogs that you should be throwing this summer to catch a lot of bass and make sure those big ones get in the boat. So, first and foremost, we're gonna talk about likely the best frog ever made to this point, and then we'll show you a little bit of twist on this frog as well, just to give you guys some more non-regurgitated information. So, the best one, in my opinion, ever made is the Spro Bronze Eye Frog, and you can see this one has been mangled. Uh, it's a little bit destroyed, uh, especially here up in the north. We got a lot of toothy critters, so they like to get their hands on that too. But this one has been chewed quite a bit. This is my favorite color, and that is the killer gill, kind of representing a bluegill. For folks that are listening in, it's got kind of a green back, could be a shad, but also imitates a bluegill as well as a frog. So kind of the brown, greenish, black, blue, purple hue. That is the classic in my mind when it comes to throwing a frog anywhere in the country. This color has gotten me bit. And a little bit of a twist on this one, especially if you're fishing more open water, but also can work very well shaking it on mats to get some bites, especially on fish that are pressured, that see a lot of frogs. If they're blowing up, missing it constantly, which we've all been there and can be very frustrating of why are they not eating the frog? And you don't want to go put in any glass rattling or any beads inside your frog. If you don't want to tinker with that, you can pick up a another spro frog that has blades on the back. So it's got these little tiny what they look like Colorado blades as tail. So instead of the jig stra uh strands here, it's got little blades on the back that make kind of a clanking noise. So as you walk that and you move that, shake it in place, it makes more noise and hopefully get you more bites to these fish that are a little bit more finicky. Now the next one here is a little bit of a lighter frog, a little bit better for open water. It's not going to excel much over mats, but if you have some sparse vegetation, you're throwing it at shade lines and a little bit more universal in where you can throw it beyond just mats and vegetation is the Tekl Sharker frog. And why I mentioned that is one lighter frog, but two, the gap between the hooks and the body is a lot more spread out for better hookup ratio, but also compared to that of a spro frog, it is much thinner. And what that does with that added weight here on the belly of the Tekal is it's one single feather tail, thinner body, and that allows you to walk this almost kind of like a spook. And you can walk this in place, and it cuts very hard. So if you're around some tulies, you're around shade lines, things like that, you can get this up closest to the cut pieces of cover that you want and almost walk that sucker in place. I'm still gonna try to throw my my favorite frog right, which is 7-4 heavy fast. 65-pound braid is typically my go-to, but I can go down to a 50, and that typically actually works better with the Tekkel Sharker frog and be able to walk that sucker in place and kind of give these fish a little bit of a different look. Because of that slender body and that wider spread of the hooks here, you also have a little bit better hookup ratio as well. Uh, very soft body, and those hooks are freaking gas on this thing. So you can go down to a little bit of a lighter rod if you want to. Um, I try to make do with the standard broomstick that I throw for frogs just so that I can still hit them hard, especially with these bigger gauge hooks that you have on the Tekle Sharker and give you a whole different presentation to the fish when it comes to frog fishing. And as we get into the last frog here that you guys should throw in the summer, what I'll mention too is we'll we will link everything down below for you guys to go and buy these if you'd like. If you see an Omnia fishing link, you can use code series10 to save 10% off your orders. And if it's not on Omnia, we're still gonna go find a link for you guys to be able to purchase this thing and not leave you out in the dark. So, the one downside of the Spro Frog is that depending on what color you get, especially the popular colors like white, black, the killer gill that I just showed you guys, it comes a little bit stiff. Uh, typically what I like to do with my frogs on a very hot day, I'll leave them on the dash of my truck. You can boil them in water a little bit to soften them up. But ones that are right out of the pack that are super soft and have great hookup ratio is the snag proof Bobby's perfect frog. And you can see a little bit different shape of the body. Well, what I'm showing you right now is basically their version of the killer gill. You can tell that I really like that color, but the hooks are angled a little bit different as well. But the body is much softer than that of the spro frog. So that's gonna allow you to do is hopefully, and hopefully you don't run into this where you're dumping fish on the frog because you're not being able to get the hooks into them well because the body's too hard, is the snag proof, just swap that out, and I bet you you'll start putting more fish in the boat because of that softer body frog. Walks very well, especially if you trim the tails correctly, which no one's shown you yet. Trim one short and trim the other one a little bit shorter than the other, and you'll have a much easier time walking that frog. But the Bobby's Perfect Frog has some great selections of colors, and it's one where I know they're eating the frog well, especially in more open water, more sparse vegetation. I'm gonna throw this sucker because I know hookup ratio is not going to be a factor. So, say the best one for your heavy matted vegetation is gonna be your spro frog. You can throw the Bobby's perfect. Sometimes it does tend to roll over onto its back, which is not always ideal. But in the more sparse vegetation, tulies, things like that, the Bobby's Perfect is a great frog to go to. There are a lot of great branded frogs out there, but these are our top three for the summer months. And with that, if you don't believe me, let's kick it over to pro angler Keith Carson on his favorite frog and setup and his go-to for frog in the summer. If you have a different one, comment down below. Let us know your guys' favorite frog and frog and setup. Hopefully, you guys enjoyed today's rendition of the lure lab. Like I mentioned, all these videos are going to be 10, 15 minutes or less trying to give you guys the juice and give it to you quick and easy.
