Life has gotten a little chaotic lately, so we have not recorded in a couple weeks, but we wanted to let yall know we are not going anywhere, just life lifeing. Enjoy this episode from Rethinking Our History about the murder behind one of the most popular cult classics around.

In 1992 the cult classic movie Candyman made it's way to movie theaters, and more than a few people recognized the story line to be much more than just a nightmare. For folks living in the ABLA homes, the thought of someone breaking in through their bathroom cabinets was not an irrational fear, but one they lived with daily.

In comes 52 year old Ruthie Mae who had been a resident of Abbott homes for four years. Having lived a long hard life Ruthies was on the path to freedom and safety, but her journey was cut short when two young men broke in through her medicine cabinet and murdered her.

And so a legend was born that has haunted generations for over three decades. And for those who still live in these buildings, it's more than a legend, it is their day to day life.
