What does hope look like to you? Is it a job opportunity, a place to live, or perhaps a beacon of light during challenging times? Today, we unpack the many layers of hope, starting with an alluring hymn that turns a humble radio into a spiritual lifeline. We also delve into the profound wisdom of Romans 12, drawing parallels between our calling to be living sacrifices and the perpetual advent of hope in our lives. At one point, I open up about my own unexpected journey, from military aspirations to a divinely appointed role in the clergy, emphasizing that with God, there's always a way, there's always hope.

Do you realize the immense power that lies within you? The second half of our episode takes inspiration from the poignant tune "Mary, Did You Know?" and Mary's own extraordinary story. We challenge you to see the greatness within yourself, even when the odds seem stacked against you. We delve further into the significance of the birth of Jesus, His name Immanuel, and the transformative influence He had, and continues to have, on our world. Rounding off with a soul-stirring rendition of "Glory to God", we remind you of the profound impact of Christmas and the advent of Christ. So, buckle up for a journey that promises to inspire your spirit, awaken your inner potential, and reinforce your faith in the omnipresence of hope.

Speaker 2:

Hello and welcome to another episode of See your Chances. I'm your host, reverend Charles Edward Irvine. Open prayer. Dear Lord, may my words reflect your words today. May my words test some of our heart today so we can open their heart to you. Dear Lord, amen. Now for the Lord's prayer. All fire you art God to heaven. Hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done. Our earth is the evidence of heaven. Get us to stay our day O bread and give our trespasses and to be grievous those who trespass against us and lead us to temptation and blood. To live for you, provided it's here and the power and the glory forever and ever. Amen. Everybody in the church say Amen, guys good all the time. All the time. Guys good, amen, amen, amen. Now for the. Our scripture today is coming from Romans, chapter 12.

Speaker 3:

Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God. This is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is, His good, pleasing and perfect will. For, by the grace given me, I say to every one of you do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the faith God has distributed to each of you. For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we, though many, form one body and each member belongs to all the others. We have different gifts according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith. If it is serving, then serve. If it is teaching, then teach. If it is to encourage, then give encouragement. If it is giving, then give generously. If it is to lead, do it diligently. If it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully.

Speaker 3:

Love must be sincere. Hate, what is evil. Cling to what is good. Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves. Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervour serving the Lord.

Speaker 3:

Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. Share with the Lord's people who are in need. Practice hospitality. Bless those who persecute you. Bless and do not curse. Rejoice with those who rejoice. Mourn with those who mourn. Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position. Do not be conceited. Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everyone, If it is possible. As far as it depends on you. Live at peace with everyone. Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God's wrath, For it is written it is mine to avenge. I will repay, says the Lord. On the contrary, if your enemy is hungry, feed him. If he is thirsty, give him something to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head. Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

Speaker 2:

Amen, amen. As we begin this Advent season, we are like the first candle of hope. Today, god will give you help and the darkness of your life. He will give you help to find a new job. He will give you help if you give help to others. He will give you help if you are looking for something meaningful. He will give you help to find a place to live. He will give you help if you come to him. There is hope every round. You just gotta love for it. There's hope. There's hope in the missionary. There's hope in the rescue mission to rescue you from homeless, to give you a place to stay, to fill out the next chapter. There's hope after service. There's hope to find you a job after you serve your country.

Speaker 2:

Yes, I didn't serve. As I went to high school, I went through the ROTC program and was getting ready to get my physical to serve in the Air Force. That's when I finally had an asthma. I was heartbroken that I couldn't serve anymore. Then God opened the door to me. He told me to serve Him, to become a clergy, to come and miss it, to come and preach it. I ministered, so I did. I took the honor course, a three year course to become a minister and a universal church of Christ. And then that's where I decided to start this podcast, so people around the world, around the country, can hear my voice, so they can open up their hearts to the Lord.

Speaker 2:

We need to save our churches. We need to go back to church. Without our current churches, without our country churches, without our farm church, we will have nowhere to go on Sunday to worship Him, because the doors will be closed, because it can't afford to keep the lights on. So we need to go back to church and we can. So no churches can keep the lights on, to keep the hope burning alive. In His name and Jesus Christ, our Lord, amen. We need to go back to church to keep the hope alive as we get ready to prepare his birthday. Christ will be 2,023 years old on Christmas and stay this year, amen. Now for our hand marathon.

Speaker 1:

Silent night, holy night. All is calm, all is right round, john, purgeant, mother and child, holy and so tender and mild. Sleep in heavenly peace. Sleep in heavenly peace. Silent night. Holy night, silent. God loves your life. Pray in peace from cry. Holy face with the dawn of redeeming grace. Jesus, lord, have I birthed.

Speaker 4:

For Tuas a child is born, tuas a son is given and the government will be on his shoulders, and he will be called wonderful counsellor. Mighty God, everlasting Father, prince of Peace. Of the greatness of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David's throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness, from that time on and forever.

Speaker 1:

Silent night, holy night. Shepherds quake at the sight, glory stream from heaven above heavenly hall sing alleluia Christ the Savior is born. Christ the Savior is born. Amen, oh come, oh come. We man, you I'm ransom, captive Israel that mourns only exager. Until the Son of God of King Rejoice, rejoice Emmanuel Shall come to thee for we Israel. Open the day's spring call and cheer Our spirits by the nap in here, disperse the gloomy clouds of night and its dark shadow pour to fire. Rejoice, rejoice Emmanuel Shall come to thee for we, israel. Rejoice, rejoice Emmanuel Shall come to thee for we Israel. Come now, king of David, come and open wide our heavenly home, make safe the way that leads on high and close the path to misery. Rejoice, rejoice Emmanuel Shall. Come to thee for we, israel. Rejoice, rejoice Emmanuel Shall come to thee for we, israel.

Speaker 1:

Mary, did you know your baby boy In one day of warm water, mary, did you know it's your baby boy, would save our sons and daughters? Did you know that your baby boy has come to make you new this time that you delivered Would soon deliver you? Mary, did you know your baby boy Would give sign to a black man? Mary, did you know that your baby boy Would call the storm with his hand. Did you know that your baby boy Is one where angels try? When you kiss a little baby, you kiss the face of God, mary. Did you know? Did you know? Did you know? Did you know it wasn't silent? Did you know? Did you know the king of kings was in unit law? The blind will see and the dead will heal, and the dead will live. The lame will leave and the deaf will speak the praises of the lame. The blind will see and the dead will heal and the dead will live. The lame will leave and the deaf will speak the praises of the lame. Mary, did you know that your baby boy Is Lord of all creation? Mary, did you know that your baby boy Would one day rule the nations? Did you know that your baby boy Is heaven's perfect man and the sleeping child you hold here? He is the great I am. Yes, he is the great I am. He is the great I am. He's always been the great I am, even as a little baby has been. The great I am. He is the great I am. He is, he is the great I am. Oh, behold the holy one he is. He is the great I am A kid, has been sent to the earth for years. He is the great I am. Timbets will swim. He is the great I am. Timbets will swim. He is the great I am. He is the great I am. He is the great I am.

Speaker 1:

Mary, did you know? Did you know, what was inside you, mary? Did you know? I know it caused great hurt and isolation, but did you realize what was inside of you, mary? Did you know? I know they pulled you away, casted you away. They didn't understand when.

Speaker 1:

Mary, did you know? Did you know what the greatness was inside of you? Now I ask myself chiller do I know? Do you know what's inside of you? Do you know what's inside of you? Do you know what's inside of you?

Speaker 1:

It may hurt, it may be painful, but greatness is inside of you. It is, it is, it is, it is, it is, it is. It is inside of you. Greatness is inside of you.

Speaker 1:

We may be in a season right now, mary, did you know, when the Lord has something in you, it's gonna shape the earth and you may be hurt, you may be crying, pillows wet with tears, but when the Lord has placed inside of you, when the Lord has placed inside of you. We'll change generations, generation after generation. They may not understand right now, they may think you're in a hole right now, they may think you're in a dark season. But greatness is inside of you. Don't worry, don't kill it. It's inside of you. Don't forfeit it. It's inside. It's inside of you. Don't give it up. It's inside of you. This process is necessary, mary. This process is necessary.

Speaker 1:

Mary, it's inside of you. It's inside of you. That story, it's inside of you. That book, it's inside of you. That song, it's inside of you. That child, it's inside of you. Don't let it go, don't let it go. Hold on, don't let it go. Don't let it go. Hold on. It's inside of you, it's inside of you. Hold on Mary, through the shame of our Mary, through the condemnation. Hold on, mary. It's inside of you. Glory is to come If you just hold on. Glory is to come If you just hold on. Glory is to come If you just hold on. Glory is to come If you just hold on, because Glory is inside of you, glory is inside of you, glory is inside of you, glory is inside of you. Just hold on, just hold on. Don't let go, don't give up, don't let go, don't let go, just hold on. Just hold on, don't let go, don't give up, just hold on, because glory is inside.

Speaker 1:

And only in love. The stars are brightly shining. It is the light of our dear Saviour's birth. Long lay the one In sin and error, priming Till he appeared In the soft and sweet, the thrill of hope. The weary world Changes, weonder, but you, the glorious heart From your needs. Oh, hear the angel, all his praise. And I define all when Christ was born, and all the bad, define all and all that he loved Truly, truly. He taught To love me in the love. This love is bound and this last one is paid Changes. Shall he pay For the slaves of brother? And in his name, all the penchant shall see Sweethearts of joy In rage.

Speaker 1:

For Christ's praise we let all fear see, but those praise Is all he may cause. Christ is the Lord. All praise Is made to heaven. Christ is the Lord. All praise Is made to heaven and glory For all, for the day comes when Christ is born. All praise Is made to heaven and glory For all, for the day comes when Christ is born and all the penchant shall see. But those praise Is made to heaven and glory For all, for the day comes when Christ is born. All praise Is made to heaven. Thank you For our deliverance.

The King of love had given up his life, the darkest day in history, there, on a cross, they made to save the nose, forever cursed. Blood had done, but fire breathed and it was finished, but not the end could have known, for the earth began to shiver and the lips still would sacrifice as the end of truth. Oh, what a King Jesus. Oh, what a Lord of heaven. Oh, what a King Jesus. Oh, what a sad and horrible. Yeah, now we hear King of kings. There was a moment when the sky lit, a flash of light breaking through, when all was lost across the ten. The King of life was on. Forever dark and slow. When all was lost, when all was lost. Forever dark and slow. Forever, king Jesus, love incarnate, love divine.
