Jubilee Bridge's Ask Adam

Ask Adam + | Episode 22 | Adam Bernal & Jessica Heilman

Jubilee Bridge Morgan Hill Season 1 Episode 22

Welcome eveyone to the Ask Adam + episode of December! Here, Pastor Adam & Jessica take on questions that relate to our monthly theme! Please submit any questions you may have about anything biblical, historical, or  spiritual!

Questions:

1.Pastor Adam, my question regards the Resurrection. If it is written in John’s Gospel that Jesus was crucified on Thursday, could it be argued that the other 3 synoptic gospels would agree with this day, according to Jesus’ own words when He proclaimed the sign of Jonah as His testimony to being the Messiah? - Chris

2.Does 2 Samuel 21:19 indicate that Elhanan actually killed Goliath not David? Some translations say he killed the brother of Goliath but the original text (Hebrew) doesn’t seem to say that. - Ryan

3.I’m reading in Luke 19:22 His master reply will judge you by your own word. you wicked servant. You knew that I was an austere man, collecting what I did not deposit and reaping what I did not sow. Why then did you not put my money in the bank, that at my coming I might have collected it with interest?’ This is the parable that Jesus talked about with the 10 minas, and I don’t understand how it applies to us. Here in life and what Jesus meant. - Theresa

4.How do you discern the voice of God and be able to know His voice and words versus your own thoughts? - Angelina

5.Did Jewish slaves really build the pyramids? - Tom

6.In light of recent events, I've found it difficult to agree or fully understand those who proclaim complete support for Israel. From what I understand, Israel has killed nearly 3,000 civilians in Palestine through their bombings, 700 of them being children. While this was an act of retaliation due to the attack from Hamas, 3,000 civilian deaths seem like a disproportionate retaliation compared to Hamas' 1,400 Israeli deaths in their initial attack a few weeks ago. This, along with Israel cutting off water, food supply, and electricity in Palestine, a rise of islamophobia across the Western world, and Israel continuing to maintain illegal blockades across Palestine makes it very difficult for me to support Israel. It seems easier to criticize Hamas, as they are a terrorist organization. And while they deserve every bit of criticism thrown at them, people seem to ignore the very similar atrocities Israel has committed. Yet, I do know that the Bible says that we should pray for the good of Jerusalem and that God promised Abraham that his covenant would forever cover his people. The amount of antisemitism that has begun to pop up in the USA is also unjustifiable of course. Therefore, my main question is, is it unbiblical to not "stand with Israel"? If it is, would you have to remain uncritical of their government's actions to stand with them? Thank you for your consideration. -James
