Names of God Questions:
How many names of God are there in the Bible?
Thankfully in my walk to have attended many services where a Pastor can list many of the names of God in memorized fashion, like: Jehovah Shalom, El Shaddai, El Elton, El Ohim, Yahweh… but as I was looking up the “Names of God” I couldn’t find the Lord specifically being called by these “names”. For example there is no direct calling of our Lord as Jehovah Jireh” but instead the commentaries refer to Genesis 22:14 when Abraham names the place the ram was provided for his sacrifice as “The- Lord-Will-Provide” or “Yahweh-Yireh'' … my question is: was there a group of clergy which determined “these XYZ names are the names of God” or did they just happen to evolve over time? - Jessica
What do we know about Jesus’ ‘new name’? “I will write on him the name of My God and the name of the city of My God, the New Jerusalem, which comes down out of heaven from My God. And I will write to him , " My new name.” Rev 3:12 (Box)
