Questions:
1. A question for Ask Adam, Isaiah 7:14 is quoted as prophecy fulfilled in Jesus by Matthew…. 14 Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel.15 Curds and honey He shall eat, that He may know to refuse the evil and choose the good. 16 For before the Child shall know to refuse the evil and choose the good, the land that you dread will be forsaken by both her kings.
This scripture is quoted a lot during Christmas, but in Isaiah it’s directed to King Ahaz who obviously was not around during Jesus’ time.
Due to vs 15 talking about what “He” will eat which is not mentioned anywhere else about Jesus and how vs 16 discusses how the child will need to grow to know diff between right or wrong…
My question is: is this passage talking about another birth in addition to Jesus’ birth? And why did Matthew pick this instead of other prophecies about Jesus birth? - Pastor Isaac - email submission
2. Why do Matthew & Luke’s genealogies vary… one ends with Mary other Joseph??
Matteo - via text submission
3. Can you please explain what the firmament is? Is it a metaphor for something or a real, physical barrier, followers of the Bible believe in? We have satellites everywhere in the skies as well as rockets shot into space for exploration. It would seem difficult to do those things if there is a barrier stopping us. Thanks! - Brandon G - online submission
4.My family and I were doing our devotions and were interested by all the people in the Bible with the name Herod. We were wondering if you could help us understand who they are and what each one is known for; the killing of baby boys under 2 after Jesus’ birth, the beheading of John the Baptist, who Jesus was taken before at his trial, who killed James and imprisoned Peter, etc.
thank you - Ryan Welch - email submission.
5. Why was Mary the one that was chosen to hold Jesus? And could there be another Mary in the future? - Anya from the box
6. Are we still serving/worshipping God when celebrating all the holidays, for some would say that all the holidays are the seven sins of man… for example Christmas = greedy, Valentine’s Day = Lust or Thanksgiving = Gluttony. So, are we not serving God when we celebrate these holidays? - Anonymous from the box
7. Was there a lamb served at last supper?? Ryan - via text submission
8. Why in John 1:21 does John the Baptist say to the priest he is not Elijah when in Matthew 11:14 Jesus says John is Elijah? - Ryan Welch- email submission
