Making Families Great Again: 3 Steps in the Right Direction
Today, we are thrilled to have Dr. Mel Tavares, an award-winning author, speaker, and life coach, joining us. Mel holds a doctorate in ministry focused on pastoral care and counseling and brings with her 35 years of professional and ministerial experience working with families. Not only is she professionally equipped to discuss family dynamics, but she's also a mother of seven and a grandmother of eleven, providing her with a deeply personal understanding of family life.
Mel is here today to share a few insights from her upcoming book, "Make Families Great Again," due out on February 1st. She recommends parents and grandparents take three steps to help their family move forward in the right direction.
- Increase Family Time: Quality is not a substitute for quantity. Strive to carve out more interactions with your children, beyond just a few minutes a day. Sitting together for family dinners can have profound benefits.
- Stay Engaged in Education: Be proactive in understanding your child's curriculum and academic progress. Know what they should be learning at each grade level and work with educators to support their development.
- Monitor Internet Usage: With our kids spending significant time online, it's crucial to be aware of what they're accessing. Guide their digital experiences to ensure positive influences.
