Let's get started. Hey guys, welcome back to another episode of the Direct Sellers Podcast. I'm your host, rachel Perry, and today we're diving into building a simple funnel.

Now you might be listening and you might be like what the heck is a funnel? Rach Like what is a funnel? Okay, what is a funnel and why do I need to know this as a direct seller? I'm going to tell you, but first I just wanted to say thank you so much for being a listener. I am so appreciative and I'm recording this. Right now I'm traveling in the UK. I have pre-recorded this before I left and I am just so. I've just been reflecting on how much I appreciate your dedication to this podcast. So, just to give you a little backstory, a funnel First of all. A funnel like. Think about a funnel, okay, like an actual funnel. I remember way back when, when we actually my husband would change the oil in our car and he would use a funnel and it's shaped like an upside down triangle and what you want is your funnel is how you're collecting new people, it's how you nurture them and it's how you make more sales, and it doesn't have to be complicated. I didn't even know what a funnel was until, like, I had been in business for a very long time, like and I'm not talking my direct sales business, I'm talking like just business in general. When I, amanda and I, started the tag team, we didn't know what a funnel was. We became very successful without even knowing what a funnel was. So it's not like you can't be successful without funnels, but when you create funnels in your business and this is something I teach inside the three to five K program it's so important to have your business working for you so that when you're not able to be there, when you're not when you, so that you're not working a freaking hundred hours a day on your business, when you have funnels in place, it really frees you up to enjoy your life, but also has your business working for you in the background, and that's the business I would imagine most of you want.

Speaker 1:

So I'm going to teach you how to build a very, very simple, simple funnel today. And it does involve email, because you guys know I've been talking about email marketing for years and years and years and years, and that's because it is the number one marketing tool. Yes, text marketing is very important. Yes, social media is very important, but email marketing is so powerful it really is so, so powerful you can do more in an email than you can in a text. Okay, so there's a time and a place for both, I think, and I encourage my students to use both, both. But if you're not using either, I'm going to suggest you start with email, to be honest.

Speaker 1:

Okay, so the first thing you need to do with this email funnel is figure out who your ideal customers. It always comes back to that right, like it always comes down to who is your ideal customer, and the reason it does is because you can't solve their problems if you don't know who they are. So that's the first step. If you still don't really know who they are, take some time to do some thinking, to do some research. And when I say research, I mean like asking that, your current customers asking them things, finding information out. And it's not about what they like about your product, the questions you're asking them. And it's not about what they like about your product, the questions you're asking them, it's more what do they deal with day in and day out? So if you sell organizational tools, you might ask them what stresses them out about lack of organization or what do they find frustrating inside their pantries. And I love that.

Speaker 1:

I always bring organization up as an example, because I am not an organized person. Maybe this is me calling out for help, because you guys, like yesterday, can we just like, let's just take a side note, like let's just go on a tangent for a second, as I do. I decided I wanted to clean out my closet because we're packing for our trip. And well, we haven't started packing and I feel very fat. Packing is not something that I love to do. I feel very overwhelmed, all the things and my closet was a mess, and so I decided now's the time to organize my closet. It doesn't come very naturally to me. I felt much better once I'd done it and there's still a lot of work that needs to be done but I did what needed to be done to get me to this space of like. Okay, I can breathe, but I think maybe that's why I use these organizations as an example. But let's say that's what you sell. It doesn't matter what you sell.

Speaker 1:

The point is the same, and that is you've got to know what solution they need. What is your ideal person looking for? So, are they looking for a way to feel calm in their home? Are they looking for a way to be able to find things in their closet easily? Are they looking for a solution to their crazy messy pantry? Are they looking for a solution to the kids' toys being everywhere? What is the solution that they need? And sometimes they don't even know, like, what do they want? What do they want to feel? These are all important things for you to know so that you can offer them a solution to their problem.

Speaker 1:

And when I say offer them a solution to their problem, I'm not saying that's your product. That's going to come, but not right now. What is something simple they can do? What are two or three tips you can give them that they can, actionable tips, actionable steps that they can take right now that will give them a sense of accomplishment or peace or will get them closer to their goal. So, let's say, using this organization example, let's say they just want to have, they really want their whole house to be organized, but the easiest thing for you to solve for them right now is to give them some tips on how to organize the kids playroom. Okay, maybe that's what it is. So that's going to be the solution that you're going to offer.

Speaker 1:

Now, if you guys have followed me or listen to me for any any bit of time, or really any coach, you're going to hear people suggest that you do a lead magnet or a freebie and I've told you to do that too, but that can feel overwhelming and it can feel like a lot and like a lot of steps before you can actually start sending emails or whatever. So we're not even going to do that. What you're going to do is, if you have a list already, an email list you're going to send them an email list with three tips on how to organize their children's playroom in five minutes or less. Okay, that's just an example. Maybe it's how to clean their kitchen in three minutes or less without using chemicals, or maybe it's how to create a calm and peaceful atmosphere in five minutes or less. Like whatever it is. You're going to email your team, your list, not your team, the people on your list, these three tips, okay.

Now if you don't have a list and you have a VIP group, have people say let me know or I have three tips. Would you like three tips on how to organize your playroom in five minutes or less? And have them give you their emails and say I'm going to email it out, just make sure you're on my list. There's a way to do that. But what you're going to do is then you're going to create an email with these three tips and you're going to send it out, and in the email you're talking about these three tips. Okay, you're literally just sharing these three tips. So they're on your list or they're not on your list, and you're saying get on my list, because I'm going to send you these three tips in an email. Okay, that's the first step of this funnel. The second step is you're then going to send them a series of emails and we call this like an email, or a welcome sequence or welcome series, and it's called that because it's usually when people join your list that you send it out. It's okay if people are already on your list. We're starting kind of from scratch here. So then this series is like a three to four email series, each sent a couple of days, several days, apart. Okay, the first couple of emails are more nurturing, kind of sharing some tips, giving some stories, talking about the tips that you've done, adding more value. Okay. So we start with people joining your list and they're literally just saying you're cause, you're going to send an email out with the three tips to do whatever. Okay. Then you're going to send an email or two where it's just kind of talking about those tips, giving some more tips. It's all focused on this one topic. So maybe going back to that organization, it's like organizing your home, Okay.

Speaker 1:

Then the fourth email is going to be focused on offering them something. So it might be a discount. If you can offer discounts, a discount on a specific organizational set. Maybe it's a bundle you've put together that's only available for the next 24 hours. You can decide if it's available for the next 24 hours, because you're your own boss. I understand that some of you aren't able to do discounts, which is fine, but you want to create some kind of sense of urgency. So maybe it's something that you've put together that they can order within the next 24 hours and that's the only opportunity they have. Or maybe you're going to give them free shipping in the next 24 hours. Whatever it is, that's what you're going to offer.

Speaker 1:

Now, if you're like I don't know what to say, I don't know what to offer, I have something I'm going to offer. I have a whole welcome sequence written out for you that you can literally copy and paste. Okay, I have a something. I've created something for you called the email funnel bundle. Now, a funnel is a way to get people into your, into your business, and eventually you sell to and you start making money without even thinking about it, without even having. This is all automated. The beauty of this. The beauty of having a welcome sequence working for you in the background is that you're going to start getting sales that come in when you're not even working.

I had a student in the three to five K program. We were on a call. We had one of our weekly calls, weekly coaching calls, and she was like Rachel. After the call she was like Rachel. I just got a sale while we were on our coaching call because it was through email. There is power in email.

Speaker 1:

So in this funnel, you're thinking about what is it that they need? What is it that my ideal customer needs? How can I bring them into this funnel? You guys, they could be people in your VIP group now who aren't on your email list. All you have to do is say join my list, get my here, and you know what I'm going to teach you how to do this. I just thought about that. That'll be something that I teach you how to do in the email funnel bundle.

You just add people to your list. Well, you don't add them, you invite them to join and then you send this welcome series and that fourth email. You're offering something to them that they want, because you have built this desire and this need for what you're going to offer them. So, through this sequence of emails, this two or three emails, you've already talked about the problem, which, in my example, is the organization, the lack of organization. You've talked about some tips on how to do it easily and why it's so important and how this solution has helped you. It gives you, gave you, a sense of calm. You feel like everything has a place. Now your kids know where everything. You're painting a picture and you're tapping into feelings. And then in that last email, that fourth email, you were offering something to them for them to buy. Now is everyone going to buy it? No, but you are going to have some people do it.

And the beauty of this welcome sequence is now, from then on, because you're going to automate this at some point, from that point on, anytime someone joins your list, you're going to automate this at some point. From that point on, anytime someone joins your list, they're going to get this sequence of emails. So that's what it means when we're talking about your business working in the background. That's what it means to have this funnel, because you're funneling them in and you're nurturing them, and then you're offering something and then these people on your list are going to become part of your group, of your community. Maybe they're going to join your Facebook group, maybe they're going to order more, maybe they're going to join your team. This is how you bring them in and this is the simplest funnel you can create, especially because I've already written it for you.
